I just upgraded from the Galaxy Watch to the GW3 to gain the blood pressure feature. I have managed to get the ECG feature working, but for the life of me, I cannot get the blood pressure feature working. There is no widget on the watch for blood pressure. I am 70 years old and reading these posts, I can see that I am out of my league with most of this software. I build computers for children/grandchildren, but pretty stupid on software/firmware. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get the BP feature working? The watch is the SM-845 model. My smart phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8+. Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide. Please, just keep in mind that you need to keep it simple for a 70 year old.
Dear Sir.
I am from Germany so excuse my bad English...
If you mean with SM-R845 the US Variant... aka SM-R845U...
And you maybe live in USA...
Then Samsung blocked/removed/disabled Blood Pressure feature for US...
You can bypass this Limitation... BUT this is not 1 click solution...
So it take time and you have to do funny things with Software Tools on PC...
Better Windows Machine instead Apple MAC stuff...
I hope this info helps you little bit...

Hi Adfree, would you mind copying the links if there are any, where its explained how to do thoses things that you say to make it work, thanks in advance.
I have the ECG working as well, i dont mind doing the pc stuff.

Samsung is still waiting on FDA clearance for BP. I found a work around that is pretty simple and doesn't require loading any firmware. There's a BP study that is compatible with the GW3 that enables BP on the watch. You need to install the "My BP Lab" Apps on your phone and watch then you will need any BP cuff to calibrate it. Phone app: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=org.sagebionetworks.research.bp
Watch app: https://apps.samsung.com/gear/appDetail.as?appId=org.sagebionetworks.bp-lab
Danke mein Freund.

Don't worry you can't brick your watch installing the app, it's pretty simple just register for the study then install the apps and follow the instructions. https://mybplab.com/
@jlabit
I have no experience with mybplab... because my SM-G920F is too old and Android Version is too low...
But this could be the easiest way... for Blood Pressure.
Samsungs Variant of Blood Pressure in this Samsung Health Monitor App thingie require "heavy" action...
To bypass the Security Limitations... IMHO.
Suggestion try first MyBPLab app...
Here are no "Hacking" activities required.
Sorry for late answer... but this is not really easy... and GW3 LTE makes it not really easier... for my tiny brain.

You're saying the watch came with ECG but no BP...? And that you have the Samsung Health Monitor...?
Yes, my watch is a Galaxy Watch 3, U.S. Version, Model SM-R845. The smart phone is a Samsung Galaxy 8+. The watch currently has an ECG widget, which is functional. There is also a functional SPO2 feature available on it. However, there is no available widget for blood pressure. The Samsung Health Monitor App is installed on the phone. I have attempted to use the MY BP Lab 2 app on the phone, but have been unable to find the app for the watch in the watches Galaxy Store. I have Stage 3 Kidney Disease, and the Blood Pressure Monitor feature on the watch would be extremely helpful. Thanks for your, and everyone above's response. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year to everyone on here.

I also found the MY BP Lab app. Below is a little more information regarding the BP/Stress study and the app.
For those of you waiting for the Samsung BP module you can consider the My BP Lab app available in the Google Play Store. The app is sponsored by the University of California, San Francisco (https://www.stressmeasurement.org/). The focus is on how stress impacts blood pressure. I've been using it for several months on my Watch 3 and my Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra. For several weeks I also used my cuff BP meter to compare to the app reading on my Watch 3 and it correlates surprisingly well. The only downside is that it asks for some personal information. I've kept it to a minimum and the app does allow you to skip questions you don't want to answer, e.g. "did you have sex last night"? This is one you can skip - or not!
I looked at the My BP Lab app. The ratings and comments have pushed me away from downloading it.
Hallo i have R840,
Changed CSC to ITV, now it have ECG working with Health Monitor, but not have BP Widget.
Other csc may have original BP widget? Wich CSC?

Right, the note 2 has 4.0 so was seeing if anyone has tried
I believe it needs the latest stack of BT4.0 + BLE (low energy) in order to work. At least that was my understanding. So we should wait for 4.3 update toward the end of the year (for N2) in order to make it happen, along with Gear compatibility.
Btw, there is a thread about it in General Accessory section of XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572175 - probably start with last pages since that topic started a year ago.
I thought bt4 was low energy anyway, is BLE and even lower energy tech?
There are a few androids with bt4 now but only the s4 is listed
My pebble doesn't seem to impact my phone battery life at all and the watch itself can go up to a week between charges.

Apparently an early "release" of BT4.0 wasn't low power. That is why there is a difference between BT4.0 and BT4.0+BLE. The protocol is different.

CASIO G-Shock with support for all phones
Hello everybody,
I'm the founder of the Android Application called "BlueWatcher". BlueWatcher is the alternative to G-Shock+ Android app to control CASIO Bluetooth watches. A lot of users missed functionality in the official app and I decided to release my own app including the functionality that users proposed me. It's evolving quickly!! Now it supports all kind of notifications (facebook, whatsapp, line... all installed apps), time synchronization, musico control...
You can visit http://www.bluewatcher.es to discover more about BlueWatcher and what BlueWatcher can do for you.
It has been tested my many users in the XDA Developers forum and now it has more than a hundred downloads (~4.70 punctuation at Play Store).
I'm here to help you ([email protected]). Feedback is welcome!
See you and hope you enjoy it!
G Shock+ app works with Note II TESTED
OK, so there's a trick involved.
I had gotten bored with the OS on the phone. So, I installed DN4. Ditto Note 4. (Search the forum for it).
And only after purchasing the G Shock GBA 400 which is the music controlling watch, had I done the research for compatibility. (Stupid me :silly
Anyway, so I was considering to buy the BlueWatcher app (Play Store) in case things don't go right.
So the watch arrived just an hour back (1 PM GMT +5:30) and I thought let's just give it a shot and Voila!!!! It worked! Everything works. The connection happens in 5 seconds. All systems and settings go.
So, here's the thing. If you are willing to let go of the boring Note II OS, then go for DN4 which is a fairly better ROM based on Touchwiz so you could use your SPen as well. And remember to install their latest build. Check their site. The team behind this is called Electron Team. They have a website too. Install the latest TWRP and load the ROM through recovery. Wipe all before use. That's how I did it, anyway.
And hey, G Shock+ and G Mix App work like charm. Hope this helps some folks, at least. I'm going to try and post this to other threads who are looking for this solution for their Note II, at least.
when you search the internet the Galaxy Gear gets bad press and its nuts, I was a little put off buying one at the start but decided yesterday to spend the cash as I am in Brisbane Australia for 3 weeks of training then back to NZ, I when I first brought my gear (yesterday) went to try some notifications and thought what the hell Samsung why would I want a notification that means I then had to open my phone.......... now think about this
Samsung is NOT some back yard designer/manufacture but a multi discipline very very big company, did you know they build heavy Industries?
So now we know Samsung is a very clever bunch of people... why would they sell a product with such a negative response from the public?
My answer to this came today when I upgraded my Gear to the latest firmware version and suddenly ALL the things we wanted were present, think about this.... how hard was it for Samsung to add this extra features? SIMPLE... so why release it without it?
NEGATIVE ADVERTISING IS THE CLUE
If you think about the amount of coverage this has given Samsung in a very short time well....... and they fix it with a simple update? perfect marketing!!
Oh and im very happy with my gear including the price, it will exponentially improve over the next few months
Also look at the thread count and posts in the smart watch section, another thing you see comments out there stating its useless without a phone.... well yes you need to do the initial setup, but its got a built in clock, when you turn off your phone, or flatten it...it still keeps time
samsung is great at making hardware, but i can't think of any part of the software that i really appreciate. i would love if they just stick to releasing new devices itself running pure android.

Also, the negative publicity because of the non-availability of key features on a device that's hardware specs should allow, makes developers naturally want to get their hands on it and fix these problems, then what does Samsung have, a bigger developer following to help enhance this newer device form factor so they can be the first on the front lines with the most development, so they can set themselves as the main smart watch manufacture, so they can control more of the market, in short, they peoples at the Samsung do da business sneaky and outs o dey own greed like a de apple butt-a-heads (but not nearly as selfish and unconcerned about the true advancement of technology as the advancement of their own wallet) Lolz on rants but it's true.

I'm hoping that if Samsung does release an Android Wear watch, that it is of similar hardware as our Gear 2s and some dev smarter than me can port the OS to ours. Otherwise, I may be upset since I just bought mine 2 weeks ago. That is of course depending on the features of the rumored watch.
If it's all of the "wear" functionality, I'm not gonna be happy. I got my gear 2 neo just over a month ago which means I can't return it...

I'm selling my gear 2 for a gear wear (or any good android wear watch) the second it hits the market. Im not ready to live thru tizens maturity for wearables. Until now i've been disappointed with the app selection and notifications. Any android app is a few lines of code away from being an android wearable app and that means a lot to an ecosystem that has a lot of added value with already a huge community behind it
More than likely I'll sell the gear and get one of these android wear watches. I don't know yet, we'll see next week.

The Neo wasn't that expensive after the recent sales so even if I ditch for AW, it won't be too much of a loss. I knew Android Wear was coming, yet kept the Neo as I'm hoping the awesome potential of the hardware can be unlocked eventually. I don't get the comments like "I'll be pissed, because I just got my Gear" - AW was announced awhile ago with expectation that devices will be dropping this summer - it shouldn't be a surprise to you guys.
AW will most likely have more Dev support and more apps. The only thing is I don't need -all- the apps, just specific ones to get what usage out of a smartwatch I want.
I'm encouraged as some of the stuff I have been requesting from Devs are being fulfilled. Maybe we get lucky and AW can get ported to this hardware (doubtful). If AW can't get ported to Neo, I hope Samsung announces an AW unit that has the IR blaster like the Neo- I'm open to trading to that. To my knowledge no other AW announced has the IR blaster, and I kind of want that.
It will be interesting to see what is announced. Just got my Gear 2 last week, and I love it, so I'm not looking to buy anything new anytime soon.

Best move for Samsung at this point it to ditch Tizen and work on converting the Galaxy Gear watches to Android Wear. This isn't a war they can win. This is very reminiscent to the HP Touchpad problem.
HP faced STRONG criticism when the Touch Pad failed similarly. HP didn't support a HP-OS conversion to Android and Cyanogen had to come to the rescue.

There is one major difference, Tizen has a lot of MAJOR players involved that will do everything in their power to develop it and make it a major android contender. HP was a lone player with their own OS in a world where there already was a lot of other mature OSs. The wearables is the only chance Tizen has to florish because there is nobody in that market yet, if it does it will be on your wrist. I like android wear much more but if done right, Tizen can be something worth it

Maybe Samsung should find a developer that can TIZEN a sim card, gps, and allow streaming music and video on the watch.

It would be awesome. Samsung has already stated that they are releasing a wear smartwatch, which is most likely a test to see what their customers will go for. Judging by the huge gaping hole in the Tizen app store, I don't blame them. By formally releasing their own Google Wear device, it looks like they have already made their decision as to the future of Tizen on smart watches. At least for now.

It seems unclear what the Samsung strategy is, as the new device has no camera or home button.
It sounded like Samsung siding with Google and maybe ditching Tizen.
Hopefully it will be a mix and Gear 2 & Neo users get Google Wear, but knowing Samsung after barely 3 months they may just ditch them.

In theory yes. I know that me and some other developers are working on creating custom roms and recovery for the gear 2/neo. Its just a matter of time before we can access the recovery. Once that is done we should be able to flash Android Wear on to them. The Live and Neo are almost the same compared to specs. The Gear 2, however, has a camera function that isn't present in Live. Also the IR function would be gone as well.

Has there been any progress on getting Null (or any other AOSP rom) to run on the Gear2? (I saw a thread on this but it's not been updated since March) I'm looking at getting a smart watch and have been eyeing the Gear 1 specifically for the functionality of Null. However, there's such a huge change in specs with the Gear2 that I'm leaning that way...
Reasons I'm looking at the Null System and Gear1/2:
(1) Camera (dealbreaker feature, I dont care if it has a week of battery life and an octocore processor, I wont buy a smartwatch without a camera),
(2) Built-in web-browser/Google Now (for various reasons between work frowning on phones, having a very tight case, and a often-hit-when-putting-in-pocket power button I'd rather not pull my phone out for a quick search on "Who sang the song "X"")
(3)Flashlight App. Very minor but also very useful.
(4) almost full compatibility with all other android software. Granted there is very little I'd like to run on my watch but a few things spring to mind like PLEX, VLC, and Solitaire (go ahead and laugh, I play solitaire more than any other game on my phone)
The worst part is #1. Otherwise I coudl get a nice unbranded smartwatch from china, but they dont include a camera (but they take SD cards!!! Why cant our smart watches not take SD???) If anyone knows of another smartwatch that includes a camera (and works well with the Note2) I'm willing to look outside of the Gear1/2.
Thanks!
You would probably have better luck finding out about a rom for the gear2 on the gear 2 forum instead of the best one for the original gear
I searched for a Gear2 forum and even though I found some references to it, the search never showed it, so I assumed they'd been merged or something... >.<
Thanks, I'll try manually looking for it...

I have Watchmaker working with it, and my WearOS created faces all seem to have come over pretty seemlessly. The app has not yet updated on Android to include the Galaxy Watch 3, but choosing one of the other Samsung watches on there works.
I am really considering returning it because of the restriction of 15% brightness in DIM Mode. By cranking brightness all the way to max, and turning off auto-brightness, it's might be tolerable. But the longest interval between auto shuffle is only 3 hours.
