i know this is on emui 8.1, so i'm curious if this issue was fixed that i had on the mate 10 pro. Basically if you adjust the screen size in settings or 'minimum width' in dev options, everything resizes fine, except the nav buttons and notifications don't change, those are huge regardless of what you do. Didn't have that issue on my mate 9 on emui 5, so I assume its just a recent bug.
Still the same. Notifications are huge.
Hope they gonna fix it. Is a bit annoying.

Still annoying. They are busy doing nothing.
In my case it's just the settings and keyboard that's getting changed when using this setting.
This is super annoying and I got pissed when I got this result after buying a phone for this price!
I've been talking with Huawei customer service and they just comes with solutions like, can you please try to restart your phone and see if that will help? And why do you want to change this? Bla bla... No help!
I tried an app called dpi changer, there you can change the dpi and resolution. The last one actually works, but it ****s up the notch... But it scales down the everything.
Here's hoping a AOSP rom drops for this device soon

This also happens on other phones, HTC U12 for one, so works as intended by Google i'm afraid you're holding it wrong
It works like a charm on Samsung galaxy s9+
I also noticed this part on huawei mate 10 pro, when i had p10 plus everything was small after small settings. So i hoped it would be same on p20 pro but sadly p20 pro is just like mate 10 pro :/ the slidedown notice part and buttons above is huge still.
Just got the Mate 10 Pro with EMUI 8.0.0.157. Good screen & cameras, but everything is so small, that hard to read even with glasses.
It looks as they still fix nothing.
Thinking about returning, because such manufacture attitude should not be tolerated.
From another side, there is, of course, normal LineageOS, although have no idea if the good cameras would work good.
Anybody found a good way to fix this scaling issue ? EMUI 9 or a custom ROM ?

Update: In related thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77935488&postcount=982) found that : "Huawei no longer give unlock codes, so without it,
the only way is to pay FunkyHuawei for the privilege of changing OS."
Really bad and my decision is very clear now ;(
hi, I used to always have a call confirm app installed. I have done too many call i didn't wanna do without it. but I can't find any that work for my new Huawei P20 PRO.
I guess it's because of the android version? none worked on android 8 and now android 9. I've tried many from the store, and I've made searches, i just can't find any app that works.
does anyone know of a modded app that works ?

I ended up installing 2 apps. True Phone, and Easy Call Confirm. 2 apps together work for what i wanted.

mod the xml manifest file in the apk

I just received my Mate 20 Pro and ran into the same issue. The call confirm app does only react once but even then it does open the main screen of the app. So instead of allowing or blocking a call, it either does nothing at all, or it opens the app screen itself.

I know I might have very limited feedback here but I'll try anyway.
As the title says, I'm having an issue with one app I use quite a bit; Orange TV. This app is provided by the French Network Operator Orange to its customers through the French Play store. It allows access to the same TV and Replay channels as the set-top box from the operator.
Now this app works fine on my previous devices (Mate 20 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro on Android 10) as well as my sons Pixel 3XL (Android 11). On the Pixel 5 (Android 11, Nov update, no root) however, it force closes each time the video is supposed to play back. I can navigate just fine inside the app but as soon as I hit the "Watch" button, I get :
App goes into landscape mode
App displays the player UI
App shows a spinning wheel (buffering video)
App force closes
Have tried reinstalling and all but no change.
So before going through the hassle of Factory Reset I'd be curious if any frenchies here on XDA did / could test (you'll need an account with Orange France) and tell we if it works for them.
On a side note : Netflix and Amazon Prime video do work just fine for me.

I had the same problem with the Bouygues TV app.
It was simply not yet Android 11 compatible.
A Google store update later, everything runs fine now.
I know it's not really helping but maybe you can just wait for an update...

Indeed, those carrier apps are not always up to date and my 1st thought was the same. What bothers me most however is that it does work fine on the Pixel 3xl of my son also running Android 11.
If it was tied to Android 11 in general I guess an update could been expected shortly. If it is however more limited like it seems the case here, I might have to wait forever.
Hello all, upon following a video on Youtube submitted by a John Wang, his explanation wasn't 100 percent clear but good enough for me to follow it to get Google play on my Mate 40 RS which should work the same for the Mate 40 Pro/ Pro +/ Mate 40 as they are all based on the same EMUI OS. There are some caveats as in still issues with notifications seeming to be delayed unless the app is open etc, Android Auto does work but can be kind of buggy and of course no Google Pay. If you guys are interested in me making a tutorial for you with the files you'll need please let me know and I'd be more than happy to create one!
I should note too, that I have not had the google play protect error at all, and I am on day 2 of using Google Play on it. So far so good, I can use Youtube/Music/Gmail just fine

But please make clear that this only works for chinese FW version!
A tutorial for this would be great! I tried to follow John Wang's tutorial but when I get to the part where you restore the backup app, it says I already have a newer version of the app installed. I've uninstalled the only version of the app I can find and I'm still getting the error message. Any ideas?
It may help to mention I'm based in the UK.

I was able to use the backup app that came with my phone and it seemed to restore just fine. Odd that what I read from others it only works for Chinese version like I got. Although I would like someone with international to try it.

I would love a detailed, accurate, slow description of how to install Google on an international version.

The notifications of app in dual space work like in standard installation? I mean: gmail with push notifications working in dual space, if i have the phone in standby, when new mail will arrive, i will have a standard push notification from gmail? This is an important question.

For now, only methid that works on m'y Mate 40 Pro international version is vphonegaga, VM, but IT works very nice
