Hey guys, here's what's wrong.
I was running the latest version of MIUI and found it to be annoyingly buggy, so I installed Cyanogen from ClockworkMod and start installing it. It ended up hanging halfway through and wouldn't progress. I made what was probably a dumb decision and decided to turn it off since it seemed to have frozen.
Now...it won't turn on. If I connect a wall charger or USB cable, the symbol of an empty battery with the white loading circle comes up for about five seconds, but the circle is not rotating and the screen goes black. This repeats nonstop.
Holding down vol down + home + power to get it into Download mode fails, it just says LOW BATTERY CAN'T DOWNLOAD in red letters. Doing the same with the volume button up gets nothing. I've tried leaving it to charge for two days with no results.
I bought a USB jig and tried using it (removing battery and SIM card, putting battery back in, plugging jig in) but it does nothing. I've tried several times.
Any advice? Is it just dead?
try an external charger to charge your battery or borrow someones battery to test your phone. failing that, charge your battery in someone else's phone.
Was the battery full when you tried installing cyanogen mod, and did you follow the instructions fully?
Clean the battery contacts on both the battery and phone pins. Use another charger, and check the port for blockages/dirt (blow in it).
Try another battery..
-Leave the jig in for 30 mins.
-Hold the combo and then put the battery in whilst holding the combo.
-Plug into your computer (with battery) and try the combo. Then try without, and put battery in whilst connected and whilst holding.
-Hold combo then plug into computer
Some of the methods above may require some extreme skill or a helping hand
It could be water damage.
I don't think it is bricked as i don't think those messages would be showing up, but i could be wrong.
If none of that works and no-one else comes up with any other ideas then you may have to use the unbrickable mod. Search for it, it's a hardware hack..
Good luck
My Xperia Z will not boot; the red LED flashes three times when I attempt to turn it on. I have tried resetting using the power button and volume up (most of the time it does not produce a response, but if it is plugged into my computer it will, where the LED will only turn off for maybe two seconds before coming back on), I have tried unplugging the battery (I have done this multiple times and on two occasions left it unplugged for over a week), I have tried flashing multiple different firmwares through Flashtool (they flash successfully but the phone still does not boot) and I have tried charging it for days and even a week one time with different chargers, but it still refuses to turn on.
This issue first occurred after I replaced the antenna flex cable and the buttons/microphone flex cable due to accidentally breaking them whilst replacing the LCD. I think this issue may have started because the battery was only on 7% when I disconnected it to replace the two parts, but I fail to see how this would discharge the battery so much? I am willing to purchase another battery if I can be certain that it will fix this issue.
Unlike some on this forum in other threads I have read through, the Sony logo does not come up at all, the screen is black the entire time. Also, when plugged into my Windows 8.1 laptop the computer tries to install drivers and says that it does not recognize the device "USB device not recognized" "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". When now attempting to put into flashmode connecting it to a USB 2.0 port the phone does not respond for five seconds, then the LED flashes green then red immediately after, before the LED goes off again, then the firmware is flashed (successfully). Attempting to put the phone into flashmode when connected to a USB 3.0 port will only result in the LED turning red.
Thanks for your time, this is really frustrating me, and any help would be greatly appreciated
Help please, anyone?
Sometime i wake up and my phone is turned off , when i try to turn it on it flashes 3 red lights , charging would make it turn on , so 3 red flashes is from battery and since you can successfully flash frimware than it is not bootloader problem , it is either battery or something else is destroyed inside your phone , first try another ftf

Thanks, I have tried two alternate ftf files with no luck, but I will try a third and see how that goes Yeah, it's okay if the current battery is faulty and buying a new one that will fix the problem, but I don't want to waste money if that isn't the problem
Do you have 12v car charger. Try to charge with it. Helped to wake up my phone last week after too much drain to the battery
My phone was not entering flashmode just before when I was trying to flash a different ftf file, so I wondered what would happen if I disconnected the battery, and then tried it. I first just connected the phone without the battery and got a solid blue light from the LED. Then when I tried entering flashmode without the battery connected it worked! So since I can successfully flash ftf files without the battery connected I'm assuming the issue is the battery, or could it possibly be the part of the motherboard which the battery connects to like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/help/hardware-fix-xperia-z-charging-booting-t2760911 ?

I do have one somewhere, but I think it's broken The issue must be related to the battery or battery connection now, so I need to figure out which of the two it is before I take any further steps to fix it?
So I ordered a replacement battery and when first connected the phone would not turn on. After charging for a little while the LED went red, and the phone now vibrates when I attempt to turn it on and also when I try to reset it. So the vibrations feel correct (it vibrates once when turning on, once when volume up and power have been held for five seconds, and three times when volume up and power for ten or so seconds), but it still refuses to boot. I have tried three different chargers for extended periods of time, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery multiple times and have flashed a different .ftf file, but all to no luck. My Windows 8.1 laptop computer still says that the USB device is not recognised and nothing seems to be progressing
Is there anything more that I can do from here to try to fix it? Anything would be so greatly appreciated
Bump :fingers-crossed:
Mainboard may be broken.
I had this problem after flashing a wrong recovery but the symptoms were the same. I sent it to a repair center and they changed my mainboard and it worked fine so it could be possible that you've broken your mainboard in a way. (The reparation bill was paid by the warranty *horray*)
I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say.
Off topic: yay, it snows!
Dear XDA,
I have a fairly annoying problem. The phone is not charging properly.
When i connect my phone to a charger it charges for roughly 20 seconds. Usually it doesnt show anyting at the start. But after a while it shows the charging icon on the display and the led starts blinking. After 20 seconds it stops doing that and after a while it shows the charging icon + blinking led again. Somehow it's in a charging loop.
I've tried different adapters. Different cables. Let it 'charge' overnight. And hook it on to a computer for a hour or so.
Sometimes i can turn my phone on but then it's on 1% and powers off emediatly. It won't charge when it's turned on.
I'm running MaximusHD 46. I have it for a while now and had no problems whatsoever.
The phone is from the Netherlands but I live now in Zanzibar. They have a different power output and the voltage is not stable. Usually i charge it when there is a stabilizer connected. But hasn't been always the case. Could that be the problem?
Thanks in advanced for your replies,
Lennard

This problem occurs all the time? I mean it's the same in all modes like when booted up and running Android, while powered off and while in recovery.
Or only when the device is powered off?
What recovery are you using ? (name and version) please :good:

I have not been able to get into recovery. Basically it's dead in the water and occasionally i can turn it on.
The recovery i use is TWRP. The version i'm not sure of (since i cannot check) but if I think it's 2.6.3.6.

Sounds like a Hardware problem either with the usb port or the battery itself.
A new usb cable may help if you've already tried that there's not much else you can do.
Some of the newer 2.8.x.x versions of TWRP have issues charging while off. But it doesn't effect charging any other time. Have you tried powering on while it's connected t an AC wall charger?

I've tried multiple usb cables and chargers . Also I tried to turn it on while connected to a wall charger, even recovery doesnt seem to work. Yesterday I still could turn it on. But today not ..
Ugh, sounds like I have to buy a new phone
You have checked the usb port for dust and lint yeah?

Lint? What do you mean with that? But yeah, I have cleaned the usb port from dust.
And I managed to get into recovery! I tried finding out where i could reset the battery settings... but I couldn't find it . The phone was getting hot so i think it's sort of charging in recovery mode. So i let it be in recovery mode for the charging. Let's see if that works :]

If you can get a little charge in the battery you can try the USB Host Mode reset. Power off the device and hold Volume up+Volume Down+Power. Hold all three buttons for 2mins plus. The device will appear to bootloop while your holding the buttons. That's normal. When you let go the phone should boot up normally.
Test the charging again :good:

I suppose it would be best to disconnect during the reset procedure. But I don't no for sure if it will make any difference connected or not.

Anyway, Thanks for the help!

So I think I did something which I've not done before - brick my phone completely.
I got two Z3C so this is my 'spare' one which I was testing CarbonROM on. Because I want to ease my transition to a new ROM I wanted to backup my entire "main phone" and restore it on my secondary phone, with TWRP. When I tried this, it seemed like it only wanted to restore system, data (excl storage) and something else I can't remember. But it didnt include the FOTAKernel and stuff I had taken a backup of from the other phone.
Anyway, the restore failed when it came to data (excl). I gave the phone a reboot and since then it's just been flashing a red light. I can't hold down power button and vol down to simulate the battery pull. If I plug in USB while holding volup or down it doesnt enter flashmode or fastboot - it just blinks red.
The phone was plenty charged when I worked with it, 50%+ was the last battery level TWRP told me.
Other googlings bring me to people who write its a hardware fault - dead motherboard or so. Others have experienced it with waterdamage and stuff like that but my scenario is nothing like this.
Any clues ?

I don't think you can restore from a different phone. That's probably the cause. However, I also have not heard of a hard-brick happening just by trying to flash the wrong thing in TWRP, (but maybe possible).
I have had the red light issue a few times, after flashing bad zip, but not on Z3c, on my XA, and I was able to resurrect it by holding down volume and power buttons while plugging it in, but for some reason, it only worked when I used a different charger/cable. All of a sudden it pops back to life with zero battery, (it was full when it died). Maybe you can try that.
I've also found that with some custom rooms / kernels, you need to hold volume and power buttons for about 10 seconds to get it to respond...

Hm. I've had it charging from USB connected to my laptop overnight - nothing different. Plugged it into a real charger when I went to work, will see when I get home.
It doesn't react to the powerbutton + voldown combo, which I've used extensively in the past. I haven't tried plugging it while holding any button. Did you plug it into a charger or computer USB port?

I did the same thing for a whole day, (tried to leave it plugged in to charge), and no response, but when I changed the cable and power source, and held down the buttons while plugging it in, after a few tries with different buttons, it suddenly popped on, with zero battery, and started charging.
Also, you might try posting in a TWRP thread. See if anyone has seen this before...
Hello,
My costumer tried to update his Redmi Note 11 from 13.0.9 to 13.0.12 rom via Update App, I don't know if he made something wrong, but now the phone won't charge and not turning on.
When I put the charging cable, the battery symbol blink some times but nothing happens. I'm sending a video that shows it.
I can't get into fastboot mode and when I plug it on PC nothing happens, only the battery symbol blinks and Windows not recognize the phone
Can this phone be saved?
Thank for all help in advance.

My guess is that they tried to update when the battery was so discharged, then the update didn't finish correctly, still seems no battery.
When you charge the battery again, try to enter to recovery mode and do a factory reset, try to boot.
To enter to fastboot mode you can, either press volume down + PWR button, or pressing volume down and at same time, connect to your PC, but not much you can do through it, if the bootloader is locked, and plus, the user didn´t start the process to unlock it.

I charged the phone for 24 hours and it is the same as it appears in the video. It didn't charge and it won't turn on. Only the battery symbol appears.
I can't get into recovery mode or fastboot mode.
I tried to connect it to the PC holding Volume- but nothing happens, the same battery symbol appears
Bootloader is locked.

Well, you don't need to charge for 24 hours, it seems to me that something in the hardware is damaged or was disconnected, like the charging flex connector, it could be an internal error, you should check it with the help of a technician, the symbol shows no charge at all. After you solve it, at hardware level, then you should try some tips at software level.

Hello brother. Im facing the same exact issue. did you fix the phone. Any way to fix it?
Today my phone has fully discharged and I have the exact same issue.
Impossible to boot and I cannot charge it, as it results as the blinking of the battery icon...
On my side, if I plug the USB-C, it does not even says it charges / but it vibrates each ~5sec with the same (empty) battery icon...

hi..i have already posted this on a thread in the morning. i have same exact issue.
I dropped the email to xiaomi and they after lot of back and forth emails, and trying everything out, they asked me to visit a service center. apparently after doing some research the only way to fix it is by opening the phone and disconnecting the battery and connecting it again.
My phone was less than a month old and ordered from amazon. they are going to accept the return request luckily.
I know guys, no one likes to disassemble a device or take it to a repair service center, but the issue is clearly related to a hardware fault, i.e. battery, charge flex connector or whatever they are called.

I had the same issue, wouldn't boot or display anything, so I took the phone (spesn) to a service center.
The technician told me all he did to repair the phone was a software upgrade... No problems since then, it probably can be done at home somehow...

It seems a hardware issue, but...
Some bad flashing cycle can cause the display not "turning on" at all, but really, it's just not showing a thing, to cover and check this possibility, you should flash a different firmware, just check out, the state your device gets connected, and try flashing a firmware.
For everyone who has this problem, remember that with locked bootloader it is impossible to flash the official rom by miflash.
The only alternative you have at the moment is to try to start the phone in EDL mode and that means opening the phone and seeing how to do the test point.
IF the pc recognizes it, they are in luck and it can be recovered, but due to xiaomi policies, only some people have accounts authorized to flash by EDL and charge for the service, many do it remotely and are found on telegram.
All the lot of issues, users are reporting on this device, they are realizing that Xiaomi is forcing them all to unlock the bootloader.
Unlocking the bootloader may be the fastest and cheapest way to escape from an eventual disastrous scenario.
I have the same issue with my Redmi Note 11, I successfully update it, I have 3 other chargers and cables I try all possible methods to eliminate possibilities even check type-c port but phone not charging after mini 13.0.12 update. How we gonna have fix this or is the are a plan from xiaomi to have solution?
