Hi y'all ~
My much beloved (11 year old!) HTC HD2 led me here! She suddenly stopped receiving/making phone calls on Sunday night. =[ However, still able to text & access the internet. Since T-Mobile has been completely unable to help me, I am now searching the interwebs for an answer. This forum has already, quickly, reminded me of how welcoming & encouraging communities like this are! =]
As for a bit about myself..... I am a history nerd, constantly have my nose stuck in a book. I love a road trip, swimming, writing, picnics, dancing, stationery, reading, eating delish food, dreaming, laughing, etc, etc.
O! I also have a Simbans TangoTab tablet, which is quite the character too. It's a young'un at around two years old. Hahaha!
Hope all is well with y'all!
Peace ~

Wow an HTC HD2!!
Its a hell of a good device! History, multi OS like no other phone I know
You're a good reader so this is the secret here to find everything you need!, besides an amazing community. Maybe I would start by reading about doing a hard reset, normally this helps to solve a lot of issues.
If you haven't, check this and hopefully you can make it work again

Hi all,
It's been a hectic few weeks. I recently moved houses and was stuck without my DSL for what seemed like eternity. I'm back now (if anyone cares  ) and will try to help out once again on the forums.
I'm working on a user manual for the XDA Tools which I hope to release soon.
I'd also like to share with you guys how suddenly things can change. A colleague of mine from work died this morning when he smashed his Mustang into the guard rail of the highway he was driving on. He was 21. There he was speaking to me the day before, said 'See you tomorrow.' and now in a morgue. Kind of puts everything else into perspective.
Take care.
Sheran
Sorry to hear that. Life would be so much better if we treated everybody as if it was the last time we were ever going to see them, that way there would be fewer regrets when somebody does die.
Sorry to hear that.
If you follow rallying in America, or international maybe..
My Uncle Roger Freeman was killed in a rallying accident in America in July. Mark Lovell was driving the Subaru, which was competing in the Oregan Trails Rally. Cars are dangerous, there are no 2 ways about that.
The funeral's for Mark, and Roger were spectacular here in the UK. You just have to do these people proud when they have been taken away like this. Mark and Roger will be remembered forever in the rallying world.
My thoughts go out to the friends and family. Just remember the good times...
Best Regards, Martin Freeman

Would you like to stop that?
One of our senior members, DaddieDiesel is in the hospital and has sustained some very serious injuries as of last night. I received a PM from his sister, as many of you may have, that he and his daughter were on a Daddy Daughter Valentine's Day date. They were walking across the road and were hit by a car. He shielded his little girl, and she isn't hurt too bad. When he took the blow for her, he took it hard. Many broken bones, a punctured lung, and a serious blow to the head when he hit the pavement. His condition is unknown, and he is currently unconscious in the ICU.
I don't know how many of you know him, but he's my friend. He has been there for me through all of my recent sadness... miscarriage and breakup of my long term relationship... calling and texting everyday just to make me laugh so that I don't fall apart. And even though I havent known him long... I feel like I've known him forever. He's my ChiTown, and I'm his ChuckTown. He's my friend, and I'm asking that you all please keep him, his little girl, and his entire family in your thoughts. Until he wakes up... I don't know what I'm gonna do without his daily calls, texts, and retarted ass picture mails he always sends just to make me smile. I'm not normally big on prayer... but I am now. For him.
UPDATE: FURTHER AND MORE DETAILED INFO FROM FAMILY ON DADDYDIESEL'S CONDITION
Dan sustained dislocations to his right hip and shoulder. 4broken ribs. Of which punctured his lung. Shattered his knee cap. Swelling in his brain from his head hitting so hard that it busted it open. His hand is badly swollen because he held his daughters head from also hitting the concrete. But after this mornings surgery we had a better outlook. He awoke for a bit confused at first because he didnt know where he was, but after we calmed him he immiediatly asked for his daughter.
Thank you for your kind words and let everyone know that he is doing better but not out of the woods yet. Still has a ton of swelling and it is still a concern.
Thank you for the prayers and either my sister or I will let you know more information as we can.
UPDATE 2.16.11:
Dan has been awake for longer periods. He still is unable to speak due to his breathing tube. When he does wake
he continues to be very confused and angry. It takes him a bit but he does realize where he is and seems to understand.
The first thing he does do is ask about his daughter by pointing to his tattoo of her. Which the doctors say is a good sign.
When we(dan's other sister and I)left this afternoon the doctors were hoping to remove his breathing tube later today.
The lingering concern is still the swelling but if you know my brother not much is gonna keep him down.
We have had great support from a couple of his rugby friends, his biker friends, and co-workers even to the fact of
taking time off work and picking my sister from the airport when she arrived.
For many years we all looked down on Dan for the things he did but we never realized how much he gave up of himself
for us. To this day all he says he did what he had to.Thank god our brother was so well organized as we were able to
get his passwords to his email and his account on the wonderful community you both belong to,and contact you and
his other friends.
It seems that you and Dan have a very special relationship and my sister and i decided to let you know a bit
about Dan. We snuck in Dan's laptop in and read to him his messages and the responses to the posting you started and
he was very moved. He also tapped your picture and put his hand to his lips. Thank you again and let everyone know that
have everyone who has prayed for our brother in our prayers as well.A Special thank you to the gentleman know as
Slayer69 as his messages were very kind. And too a very special thanks thank you for being such a beautiful person
and your wonderful support. We will let you know more as we know. thank you.
UPDATE 2.17.11:Dan had his breathing tube removed. He cant speak all that well and ended up
losing a molar. He has to try and write alot of what he wants to say.
But still a great sign. Tomorrow the plan on moving
him hopefully out of ICU. Also plan on getting him some movement
via therapy for his knee so it doesnt atrophy. We got his old
phone and will try to sneek it into him as he wants to get his messages, and make a few calls.
Its Dan being himself and nothing is gonna slow that guy down. He thinks he will be
out in time for his birthday next week. You know my brother
not much is gonna slow him down, apperantly not even getting hit by a car.
We all have our fingers crossed and know that all the prayers from everyone
on the website you and Dan belong to have helped. Thank you again from our
entire family. Dan sends his love to you especially.
UPDATE 2.18.11: Guess who just got a very personal update from the man himself? Me!! That's whassup. DaddieDiesel just called a few minutes ago and talked as long as he could before the meds started kicking in. He sounds like he got hit by a car! See... we can laugh about it now... lol. Got to, right? He is going to be fine, but in alot of pain as you can imagine. It was so good to hear his voice. When I saw "ChiTown" pop up on my caller ID... I almost cried. But enough about me... He says to tell ALL of you, "Thank you for all of your thoughts and support. I'm no hero, I'm just a Daddy. I do what I gotta do."
NOTE: Aight we gotta switch it up... flip the script right here since everything looks good for him now. Everyone here knows Dan's username here on XDA is DaddieDiesel. Fabulous. Call him what you will... DaddieDiesel, Dan, Double D... it's all good (except maybe that last one, he probably won't be feeling that one... lol) But I started this thread, and if you've read through all the updates... you've heard me call him ChiTown. So from here on out, all updates from ME specifically will be addressing him as such. Roll with it.
UPDATE 2.20.11:So where's whats new with this bad ass HERO named ChiTown. Most recent news from his equally bad ass sisters: His days are long, his nights are longer. Today will be his third day going through very, very painful physical therapy. He is pissy, they say... alot of swearing! But trust me... that's nothing new with ChiTown... lmao. The man has a mouth ALOST as dirty as mine. Tomorrow will be the one week mark since the accident. He hates hospitals more than most people who hate hospitals. His doctor continues to say its nothing short of a miracle that his head didn't split completely open when he hit the pavement. Yesterday's MRI results were looking good, which is awesome. And the doctors are happy with the way everything continues to be improving so rapidly. Now if he'd just get over this big ass knot on his head and grow some hair back where it had to be shaved to put him back together... then maybe he'd let this ChuckTown girl jack a plane and come say whassup...
Never heard of him, but i'll make sure to keep him in my prayers
Sorry to hear that...I wish him a speedy recovery....
He'll be in my prayer list. If you can talk to him, ask him to stay strong.
I hope everything works out for them. I am currently undergoing something myself so I understand how it feels. I hope the best for him and his family.
-There is a 35% chance that right now I'm on the toilet-
Although I don't know him I wish him the best in his recovery
I'm new here and so of course I don't know him, but I'll most definitely pray for him.
The selfless act of being brave even knowing the danger is my ultimate definition of courage, and I hope everyone else here will join me in agreement on that point.
The world is desperately in need of more brave and courageous heroes like Dan.
I'll pray for him.
I'll pray for him to recover and gain all strength.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
hearing news like this is always upsetting and tough.
I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
Even though I don't know him I wish him the best of recovery. He gives me hope.
selflessness defines self.
with no personal connection i still offer him and his family the highest respect and deepest compassion. thanks op.

Yay! What a miracle he survived!
Hello All:
I came here seeking advice from tech savvy individuals before my situation gets out of hand.
I have been engaged for several months now and I do everything for her - and I mean everything! From romantic dates, to helping her learn English (I create study plans), I treat her with love, respect and kindness, I am honest, I am faithful, I cook for her almost everyday day ...heck, I even rub her feet at night! I try to be the best man that I can.
She seemed like the perfect girl at first and showed me great character, personality and beauty - althogh some of my friends are skeptical and believe she may be using me for a Canadian citizenship (she is from Africa).
In the last two months, I have caught her erasing WhatsApp messages, SMS, call history, etc. I began periodically checking her phone and found that she was heavily into pornography (everyday - please have a mature mind), so I spoke to her about it - she downright lied to my face when I had asked her 5 times and now, she deletes her browser history regularly. I have always caught her deleting POF (plenty of fish) emails as they come in, but she claims she is inactive.
One night, when we were both laying in bed, she received a call from this guy at 23h30 (1130pm) while we were watching a romantic movie - she takes it. For the next 30 minutes, she spoke to him in her native tongue, laughed, smiled and I overheard the guy on the phone, who was talking in a deep flirtacious voice (most of you know what this means). I asked her to drop the call and she laughed at me and continued.
This is when I began to suspect she was cheating on me and perhaps that my friends were right all along.
I am using a GPS tracker on her phone (via Google Location History and Device Manager) and on several occasions, where she was supposed to be at work, the GPS reports shows her 5-7 minutes away from work in a hotel for 2-3 hours! I have all the data printed for a potential confrontation.
My question to you is how accurate is this GPS? It says 22-30 feet, but is it REALLY 22-30 feet? The GPS circle doesn't even range at her work area - could I be wrong or am I just in denial?
Can I perhaps PM someone screenshots of this to get a second/third look?
I am highly considering placing a spy Android app on her phone to get a second set of "proof" to end the engagement before I get burned. Please give me your advice and assistance as I don't want my marriage to be a sham and have my life completely destroyed. I have already given up a high paying job so we can be in proximity amongst other things - heck, I even plan to give up my dream of being a teacher because the university she was accepted to (the entire city) does not have my program - it's just too far and we all know how well long distance relationships work, right? ...I feel sick to my stomach right now.
Thoughts?
Talk to her?

Well, that's a lot of Information to cover. The thing I would be asking yourself is if you were vindicated could you cope with it? If she hasn't done a thing and you were wrong could you put your paranoia behind you? What's been happening here in my personal opinion is unhealthy for you at minimum and very damaging to your relationship. I'm concerned about how little you mention any positives about her. Even if you do get your answers has the damage already been done?
You should never have to give up your dreams for love.
As far as GPS is concerned it can be accurate to a few metres if conditions are optimal for example a clear unobstructed skyline and satellite above. Things can get distorted when buildings get involved, interference from other technology etc.

Break up with her now and cut your loses. Also, next time, don't be so nice. Ugly truth is, you got to be a slight jerk with your women for her to respect you. Don't ask my why, it's the way it is. If you're in a relationship, be the man, not the servant in the relationship.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
@Kareem83 Ohh man, I feel sorry for you. Not because of what she does, but because your suffering for not being able to let go of her. If there's any truths to all what you say, then there's only one way for you to be happy, drop her, like she's hot! And I say this, not because it is impossible to live with a person that have other interests, but because (1) you are not able to speak to each other about this, in an honest way, and (2) since you're even bringing this up here, it means you're really suffering from the idea that she could be with others.
Whoot! Giving up your job and dreams for a woman is just so wrong. It will never last, and it will not make either one of you happy, in the long run.
At this point you only have two options.
1) Let her go, and with that I mean get rid of her! Never fight with her when or before leaving, leave her as a proud man with good memories. Tell her you love her, but that you're just not her type.
2) Completely accept and embrace the fact that we live in a modern world where we as humans are more than capable to have multiple relationships and sexual partners, and still love each other. But from little psycho-analysis possible from your text above, this is not the right type of a relationship for you.
Good Luck!
(And please let us know what you do and how it goes.)
PS. There's no need for any more tracking and spying, just get over your denial and make a decision.
Ya Bud,if you havent yet,I'd kick her to the curb.Sounds like she is at the very least still looking for something else.Trust is most important in a relationship if you ain't got that, you got sh!t
Well, let us begin.....if you may pass around, the virgin's blood, the black candles and the tongue of a dead man whom killed himself.....Woopsy doopsy! Another forum...sorry, my bad.
;-)
I don't like to talk much about myself, least of all in an internet forum.
But fair is fair, and I am asked to introduce myself.
So I'll make an effort, without guaranteeing any results.
I'm in my middle forties.
I'm sitting on my bed while I write this.
Be right back: nature calls, and she's a batch.
Back, and I seem to weigh a little less now.
I feel light as Trump's head.
So, coming back to me, myself and I: I always loved computers, although I never quite understood them very much. Some claim that I know a lot about computers.....but this opinion is only shared by those who know absolutely nothing about them, and see them as entities which could eat them alive if they pressed the "wrong button". I know better: I have a limited knowledge regarding computers, but I do possess an endless curiosity, and I always seem to find somebody whom is kind enough as to give me her/his time to teach me, or help me out of deep shi-t when I, very rarely!, take a path that I know nothing about and "boldly go seeking where no one has sought before"......
As you already know by now, I love Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Thrillers and Terror; this in all medias: movies, series, graphic novels, comics, mangas, animations, books.....
I love to row, ski, practice volleyball and rugby, ride a bike and a horse, run, go rollerskating and ice skating, swimming and climbing.
I also write a lot, but nothing's been published so far. I happen to read way more than I write though.
I spent seven years in a wheelchair/using crutches, and now I am riding bikes again....it feels like the first time I rode one, when I was a child.
Let us simply say I come a long way to where, and when, I stand today.
I may not be of a lot of help to you, because my knowledge is really limited. Now. But, with your kind help, it will come a day when I will be able to give my helping hand to others in these matters as well as some others.
Looking forward to keep in touch with you all.
Live long and prosper, from Geneva, Switzerland.
(To your questions: YES, I love chocolate; YES, I love cheese; YES, I love watches and have half a dozen of them, several of which I repaired myself (and one I broke on my own too, for being an arrogant moron); YES, I love mountains: so, if you leave aside that I don't love banks, the swiss stereotype is fully fulfilled--well, I could love a bank if I owned one, but that not being the case.......)
PS: "Aexis" is not a typo error nor a choice because other names (Alexis, for instance) were already taken: it is my real name. And Tenax is my last name, after I chose to change the one I was sadly born with: for those of you whom don't know Latin, "Tenax" means "Tenacious" (as in "Tenacious D", the movies and the music). Modesty is not one of my defects, neither is arrogance.
Ah, my sense of humour is not shared by many: I am absolutely crazy about Monty Python, Chaplin, Buster Keaton, the Three Stooges, the animated original series of the Pink Panther (and I bought the entire DVD collection), Mr Bean, Not the Nine o'Clock News, Fry and Laurie, Red Dwarf and sooooooooooooooo many others. I even have a t-shirt that says: "I speak fluent sarcasm", to make things clearier for those with an impaired or atrophied sense of humour.
If you read until here, thanks for your time, and hope to "see" you soon!
Hi Tenacious Alexis!
Ahh, madness: the best way to make friends. Allow me to shamelessly pull this out of context:

It's been a pleasure to read your introduction. I have a T-shirt that has "I have six words for you" on it, what a blissful moment when they ask me what they are. Yes, T-shirts truly mark our sense of humour. Honest feedback: "it will come a day" may be the reason you haven't been published yet Great to read about your recovery, must've been quite the rocky road. Let's try not to circumvent the swear filters, it's a nice place here Oh and let's not make things political because there's no end to that and this place is all about our universal love for tech. Hey, I also have a Swiss watch, a MyKronoz ZeTime. Its quality is indeed quite remarkable! Anyway, I'll keep it short. Pleased to meet you.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and my apologies for "breaking the rules" regarding politics and"swearing". I was, as you realized, kind of testing the limits.....but I'll fall inline from now on.
Well, most of the time at least.
Ok, many times.
Alright, make it a few times.
Or two.
Or one.
;-)
Ok. I'll try my best (not) to misbehave.
You can quote me on that last line out of context as well......
Silly though, I'd have loved to know what your answer is to those asking naively "which are the six words you have for me?". I bet my soul that the censorship for the swearing would not let you write that answer here.....Nope, scratch that: I already sold my soul, so I can't bet on it anymore.....

Gotcha! Oh don't worry about it, you were merely bending them a bit. We appreciate some passion in the conversatios around here.
As for how I respond to that question: I just stare at them in silence for a bit, they usually figure it out. If they really don't get there I start tapping the words one by one.
Hi.
Trent here. 32 years old living in Eastern Virginia. At a young age my mom knew to hide old electronics. VCRs, DVD players, television remote controls. Literally anything that had a microchip; my mother couldn't leave around around without it getting taken apart and totally RUINED. I did that with about, realistically, 12 of my mother's electronics.
Long story when I was 14 in 7th grade, my father bought me my first gaming computer. Usually prior to that I was ALL about nature and still am. But - the first time I pressed the power button on that alien faced computer tower. I instantly fell in love.
Back to 7th grade. There was this guy that literally rode my bus everyday from school on our usual bus route. He was very reclusive, and would sit on the bus seats with his legs tucked against the back rest in front of him. I was intrigued by this guy as he seemed like the type to be into electronics, so one day on the bus; I talked to him.
His name is Jonathan and he is still around today. Jonathan was a very quiet (and still is) loving, caring, super SUPER intelligent guy. When I first sat to him on this bus I'd asked him, if he played runescape. Mind you, this was in 2004 which every early MMO gamer knows; was in its PRIME at the time. There were no better years on RS between 2004-2008. Anyways.
Jonathan is an extremely quiet loving caring guy. Our first conversation is when I'd asked him that. He replied with no, I play KoL. I reply what is kol? He goes Kingdom of Loathing. So, he goes into what type of game it is. That is when our friendship turned into lifelong brotherhood. (As I am native American with dreadlocks, and Jonathan is Alaskan Caucasian descent with an eccentric afro. A literal afro. Trust me, he goes many stares where he went, but in a good way because he does have a distinct look.
ANYWAYS - as we get older we shy away from gaming and he gets more into IT stuff. He's building computers and everything at this time. At this point, is where is starts to teach me everything he knew about electronics and computers. Oh you me, and it sure was alot of information at the time!
Long story short, now I am 32 years old engaged with 2 beautiful children. 2 boys. I was reminded recently from a thought of mine, of Jonathan. I remembered a time he was first discovered jailbreaking, again teaching me all I knew. Now here I am! Trying to teach myself by learning from you guys and reading. Here goes nothing!
Thanks for having me!

Sounds familiar indeed And then you hear a parent's voice:

Hi.
