My father in law gave to my daughter is Huawei P8 Lite 2017 (PRA-LX1 8.0.0.392(CO2).
I've already wiped everything and I'd like to install an OS that is clean as possibile without all the bloatware and spyware from Huawei.
I've installed Lineage OS on other Android Phones, but this phone looks a bit more complicated.
I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on which OS I can install that allows my daughter to have a stable and usable phone; I'd like to avoid development/hack versions, or ROM that are not 100% working. Thanks for any help.
If you have already unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, all that is left is to start reading the threads of a ROM you are interested (for bugs or issues), as as rule of thumb, the older = the more stable.
You can start with this:
[ROM][OTA][8.1] LineageOS 15.1 for Huawei P8 Lite 2017
Hi, LineageOS 15.1 for Huawei P8 Lite 2017 *** Stable Version *** About LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over...

Try Lineage OS18.1 by DarkJoker360. I'm daily driving it and is pretty much stable.
The only issue which I encountered was GPS. The GPS on this rom is slow( it takes 2-3min to fix location) because AGPS is not working here, but developer is looking into it. Hope it get fixed soon.

This is purely based on my experience and opinion. I have used every single rom for our device from xda. The rom that adore most is the huawei noughat emui b336. pure speed and optimised battry life is wonderfull a device working eith every functionality is what you get. when comparing with cm13 and 14 builds its much more stable and reliable. i was on oem c636 flashed c432 europe and flashed noughat from meticulus twrp emui4.1.
Cool. Though at this point one might aswell just wait for OTA nougat
I don't dare to install Lineage or Cm13 because I want a stable phone. I previously asked in another thread which problems the Lineage OS has. I could not find the Log File of Meticulus which shows the problems. Maybe someone can tell some problems of lineage os so the decision of installing it would be easier. Thanks a lot.

I tried Lineage and had a bootloop because of substratum themes...after that i flashed RR build and i`m very happy with it. The battery life is not extraordinary...5h SOT. For my needs it`s very good...no big bugs or something like this...
Again for my needs I can say that it`s pretty stable...
At the moment, stock is best. EMUI4.1 at that. Give it another 2 months or so, by then we should have stable custom roms, that being said, try the Paranoid Android ROM, it's good but has some bugs with dual SIM unless otherwise stated by the developer in the thread.

that would be awesome, but i think custom roms won't be much more stable unless huawei releases their source code
At this point , stock rom is the best. Unfortunately because Huawei has not released and i do belive will not realease the sources for this model , all custom roms based all on Lineage OS or AOSPA will have bugs and high battery usage, without hope of real solving...because the code is always changing and as some problems are apparently solved other will rise up.
Use this. People say that "turns any oreo based roms into android go rom."

I have a phone that is far worse than the P9 Lite and it runs android Oreo perfectly smoothly so getting the normal version of oreo working on the p9 lite shouldn't be a problem
Will the P10 and P10 Plus get the latest Android 8.0 update? Huawei just published an update which I saw on Google cards stating that the FF devices will receive Android 8.0:
Mate 8
P9 and P9 Plus
Nova 2
Nova 2i
Nova Youth.
I am pretty disappointed by this as the Mate 9 received its update already, while the high-end P10 doesn't have any news for it.

Huawei P10 is currently in beta testing for oreo so I think it is not necessary to include in the list

Mhhh, Android versions do not add substantial features lately. Oreo added Treble, but it's optional. Other changes are hidden to the user and not really relevant, often go against users convenience or will.
EMUI on the other hand did progress a bit more. Version 5 is usable (still did not try 8), although several much needed features are still missing. IE, selectable amount of columns/rows in launcher (this, among other tweaks are provided with kangvip in P10), but it's hard to understand corporations decisions...
Summarizing, MM is fine, you are not missing much.
The really good news about Oreo is that kernel sources are not broken now (as they were when Nougat sources were published), so kernel development could make a difference now. We 'only' need an active kernel dev now
A Treble based version of Resurrection Remix O v6 is now available.

Wow. It is really a good news to have RR Rom . However it is for Honor, or it will also support Mate 10(Pro) like lineage 15.1? does xposed, magisk work on it? can not wait for flashing it. I use RR Rom for my previous Oneplus 3T for a long time and it is really a fantastic ROM.
It's treble, so it should work.

99.9% if not 100% of what's working on the Honor View 10 is working on the M10pro.
Can anyone tell me if dual camera works on all of those treble roms out there? Or is it possible to just install apk of stock camera on such rom? That's my only concern to try them.
I think the Lineage based ROMs (which includes RR) currently have problems running the stock camera app.
However, on the treble AOSP you can install it yourself, while the OpenKirin's AOSP https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-t3753603
already comes with a version of the stock camera app.
Edit: you can probably make it work on LineageOS, see: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-camera-app-treble-roms-t3735169/post75685083

I haven't personally, but I would advise holding out on doing any OS changes for a bit as Huawei is doing/changing something with their xloader's in their rom and it's causing quite a few bricks. I'd figure out which xloader you're using first, and deciding if it's worth it to go to another rom before eventually making your return back and to a possible brick.

Hey guys,
I guess this is interesting for a bunch of you.
I flashed RR-O v6.0.0 20189492 bkl OpenKirin on my Mate 10 Pro (blanc) BLA-L09 8.0.0.128(C55) taken from getroidtips.
I was screwing arround with my phone, got it soft-bricked (StockRom and Lineage wouldn't work anymore) and RR was the only thing getting it to work. So at this point I am more or less forced to use it.
Generally, I am very happy with it. After a fresh boot, I have about 2.5-2.7GB of the RAM used, which is decent. Systemapps are working fluent and without major problems (a small buglist is appended below). However, sometimes the phone locks up for a few seconds (opening and closing the taskmanager returns the phone back to normal).
However, there are a few things that are not working!
- WLAN hotspot: I am able to create a hotspot (so it is visible from a PC), I can even connect to it, but the phone doesn't bridge to Internet. Equally, the description on the phone just says "Error".
- Inside of the camera (which is working great!!), pressing the last-image button on the bottom left opens the gallery. However, when the gallery opens up, the entire screen goes black. If I open the task manager and the select the camera app, the screen returns to the last image as it should do in the beginning. I tried changing the default gallery app to google fotos, but the behaviour is the same.... a little anoying but whatever...
- bluetooth headset: the volume control buttons on the phone do not change the output of the bluetooth device
Anyhow, so far I am ok with the system: not very impressed but I can live with it.
Does anybody know, if there is a way to update the system without needing to flash the entire system.img?
Would it be feasible to flash the official RR kirin build on it?
For some reason I am not sure the "OpenKirin" team will solve the above bugs anytime soon....
Hi guys!
I hope you all are well.
I git my P20 Pro and I would like to install a stock android version on it.
I am completely new in this area - I am an iOS switcher
I found already some tutorials but all of them say I would like to need a SD card etc..
Details:
Model: CLT-L29
Build Number: CLT-L29 8.1.0.107(C432)
EMUI Version: 8.1.0
Android Version: 8.1.0
Can you help me?
Not possible at this point, nor would you want to install stock android on this phone. I imagine most people bought this device because of the camera and installing stock android would completely destroy camera performance. Switch back to your old iPhone 6 because that would have better cameta performance than a P20 on stock android.

There are Project Treble (Stock 8.1, see here) ROMs that do work on our device, and with Project Treble comes also support for the hardware of the P20 Pro camera just that uses different software which in some cases (personal preference) works better as it uses less aggressive post processing.
Further to the above, I have tried the Project Treble ROMs (which do boot and successfully function) on our device however at the moment it comes with random rebooting every 10 minutes or so - so steer clear of it for now until this is fixed.
If you want to prepare for when these ROMs fully function - then I suggest that you unlock your bootloader (to do this, email Huawei Support with your IMEI number, Serial Number, Product ID and also the reason for unlock request - I suggest saying 'Development'. Bare in mind that this process may void your official Huawei warranty dependent on the trading regulation authority for your region ) and once you receive the unlock code then you can unlock via fastboot commands which will allow you to make device modifications such as installing ROMs or rooting your device.
Hope this helps
