Question WiFi Turning off - Redmi Note 10 Pro

Hope this sort of question is ok.
I've got a Redmi Note 10 Pro. The WiFi connects fine, and stays stable, but when I leave the WiFi range, it turns the WiFi off. I have to manually turn it back on when I re-enter WiFi range. I want to leave my WiFi on all the time, so it just auto re-connects when I come in range. I can't find a setting related to this. Anyone know a fix, or work around?
Also, anothe minor issue, I can;t seem to remove toggle from the quick settings. I click the red minus, but nothing happens. Might be me being an idiot, but I can't work out how to remove them?

Online radio streaming on nexus stops with screen off.

Have you guys have the same problem?tryed all the radios on the market..they stream perfectly on wifi ,but when i lock the screen it just stops streaming. If i turn the screen back starts as normal.Any idea how to get over this?
No problem for me with lastFM.
This should work ... but it doesn't
Just in case you haven't tried - in the settings menu, Wireless and Networks, Wi-Fi settings, then press menu again and find 'Advanced'. Here lives 'Wi Fi sleep policy'. It looks promising, the obvious move is to set this to 'Never'.
But it doesn't solve the problem. Like you I'm finding that it is a problem with all radio streamers, some worse than others. If I turn wireless off and use 3G its fine.
Thanks for posting the issue. I thought I was the only one.
No problems with TuneWiki over WiFi and 3G...
i find that even if you set the wifi never to sleep it still does. i frequently use aftp to transfer movies and stuff to my phone over my lan, so ill set it to transfer like 3 gigs of stuff and go to bed, even though its set never to sleep the socket still gets closed at some point at night. so id say your problem lies with wifi sleeping.
also some online radios stop automatically after a certain amount of time incase you arent listening anymore to save bandwithd
Maybe its in the app settings. You didnt specify which app it was also...
This might help
When you connect Wi-Fi make sure to turn off your cellular network. N1 has this weird problem where in as soon as screen is off, it drops the wi-fi connection and goes on to cellular network.
So if you switch off ur cellular network it maintains its Wi-Fi connection even when the screen is off.

i use mainly "AOnline radio" but i have tryed pretty much all from the market and all do the same. trying with the settings now..post if any change.
edit:yea still stops...strange try with gsm off and still same thing...is it there any solution to get over this thing?i just liten now with the screen on) eats the battery..it's ok but why not better?
The Nexus one activates some kind of energy saving mode as soon as you turn off the screen. This makes the WiFi connection very laggy, though stable for me. This is independent of the WiFi sleep policy. There's a bug report because of this for Sipdroid and I've also seen this issue while being connected to the phone via SSH. The connection is just fine as long as the screen is on, but if it's off, there's about 1 second delay.
However, I never had the problem you describe. Droidlive, for example, works just fine.

i will check droidlive myself right now...thank you for explinations..is there a way to talk with cyan and maybe he could overpass that wifi sleepy thing.
edit: also noticed if you ahve a download or something and turn the screen off goes very slow..so this problem i think really have a priority to be solved.
edit2:still stops...what would be the thing?wifi priority changed.do you have any type of settings?full app?
I'm listening to a ShoutCast stream with AOnline right now, using WiFi, screen is off. Works perfectly. Do you see this problem with other access points, too?
SLightworkaround....
If you can keep it plugged in...set the SCREEEN TO NEVER SLEEP...under settings>>>applications>>>DEVELOPMENT>>>STAY AWAKE... hope that helps!

This is the problem yes... Just try to ping your N1 while turning the screen off/on... Ping jumps up as soon as the screen is turned off...
For me Streams stop when I have a weak signal to begin with, which does not get better when turning the screen off

Wifi Issues

Has anyone else had issues with wifi not staying off? I normally turn wifi off when I leave the house to go to work. But when I get to work I will notice when I unlock my phone that I have a pop up asking me if I want to connect to the office wifi network. I go into setting and wifi has spontaneously turned itself on. I will turn it off again but the same thing usually happens the next time I unlock my phone and open the browser. Then just now, I unlocked the phone and opened the browser and the wifi network notification popped up again, but this time I went into settings and and it says the wifi is still off. I am starting to wonder if my D4 is just screwing with me now for the fun of it. Anyone else had any issues like this?

Do you use the smart actions on the phone?
I looked into setting them up at one time and got a warning saying some of the functionality of that app required wifi being on.

That's actually a setting on the phone, where it will ask you if you would like to connect to wifi anytime an application requires a data connection. It's just to prevent you from going over your data plan. Go to your Wi-Fi settings and uncheck the "Notify Me" option under Wi-Fi autostart reminders.

Wifi does not auto-connect when screen is off

I have a wifi issue that is a little different from other I have read here.
Issue: When my phone screen is off, it will NOT auto-connect to saved Wifi hotspots (eg, home, office) within range, until I wake up the phone (turn on the screen).
When it is connected to the Wifi hotspot, it will keep the connections even when the screen is off. (non issue)
I have set "Keep Wifi on during Sleep" to Always, and set "Sleep mode" to off. "Power Saver" is off too. Mobile data is off (I turn it on only when I need it). I checked battery usage, and Wifi is constantly on, just that it does not connected to the saved Wifi.
My question/issue is, is it normal for the One to not auto-connect to saved Wifi hotspots within range when the screen is off?
On my old HTC EVO 3D running ICS, it will automatically connect to the same hotspots without the need to wake up the phone (turn on the screen).
My One is still using the stock Rogers firmware (1.29.631.4)
UPDATE: I found that this appears to happen only when the screen has been off for a longer time (more than a couple hours). If I have waken the screen up an hour before it entered the saved wifi range, then it seems to auto-connect fine. Need more testings.

I do believe it is normal. It's to conserve power your phone would have to have a wakelock to connect to another network draining power. As I understand it the ONE puts the wifi into a power saving mode when it's not connected so it's not constantly draining your power while driving. Once you wake the screen it will then connect as it assumes you want it.

Should that be an option to turn that off, such as the "Wifi Sleep Policy" I saw from some other rom? Or the settings I mentioned above disable that behaviour already?

Don't think so. The wifi sleep would turn the wifi radio off which isn't happening. Oh quick thought check the network and make sure the phone is set to auto connect that would do it for sure!

Nevermind isn't there. Maybe I'm thinking of stock android or maybe I'm thinking of another OS.
Can anyone else confirm if this behaviour is normal or not?
So if I don't wake my screen, I will never get any sync when the screen is off and I just get back into wifi range?

As I have indicated in my first post, this has been set to "Always" already. Are you sure that works for you?
What is the phone not doing that you want it to do? Just turn on auto sync if you want your email and FB updates to be waiting for you. Or is that not working?
Quick test. Put your phone to sleep with gmail autosync push mail on. Turn off data and only enable WiFi. Then send yourself an email from a computer, if you get a notification on your phone while it is sleeping, then it is working. Or you can place a voip call with viber or send yourself a viber text from another phone.

It is not auto connecting to the saved Wifi networks when I go to work, or when I go home, with the screen off. I have to wake the phone (press the power button) and you can see that it will connect to the saved Wifi networks. The FB notifications and Whatsapp notifications are pushed, so they don't require auto-sync to be on.

If my phone is already connected to the Wifi networks, putting it to sleep will NOT disconnect it from the Wifi network. It only happens when I changed from one saved network to another (home to work, or work to home) with the screen off, then it will not auto-connect. I have tested that and I'm not getting the notification in that situations. I have to wake the phone up to trigger the auto-connect.

Is your wifi toggle always on? Or do you turn it off once you leave a certain network? The only way the device will auto connect to a saved network, is if the wifi toggle is already turned on before you go near a saved wifi network.
If you want a saved network to automatically turn on wifi and connect to a saved network, you will need some thing like juice defender. It teaches itself to know when you're near a saved wifi network and it will automatically turn on your wifi toggle on and connect to the saved network. Then once you leave the area or lock your device, it will automatically toggle off wifi and disconnect from the wifi network.

Not sure what you mean by "wifi toggle always on". My Wifi (under setting) on the phone is always on. I never turned it off. Under Power History, I can also see that Wifi is always on (un-interrupted blue bar).
I contacted HTC support, and they asked me to change the WiFi band frequency from "Auto" to "2.4GHz" and reboot the phone. It seems to have fixed the problem so far (after a couple days of testing). Although it would have been nice if they can fixed the problem properly.

Yeah, I just got the One almost a month ago and seriously thinking of returning it because of this issue. I wish I wouldn't have rooted it because since I did for some reason I can't get ADB to recognize my device. I've tried everything my noob brain can think of to fix it and the wifi issue but nothing works. I see that no other developers have a fix either as no apps or threads here give a solid solution.
I might give AT&T the money to warranty it and just get another device but I want that to be my last resort.
Personally, I think it might be an isolated hardware defect that was addressed with later devices which is why it is not as wide spread and therefore doesn't generate a need to find a workable solution.

BTW I've flashed several of the popular roms on XDA to see if that fixed it including Viper and CM but to no avail...

No, I believe you have to be S-Off to do that, or else you need to flash the firmware. Have you trying reinstalling drivers or try on another computer to get ADB to recognise your phone?

[Q] Moto X Wifi Won't Turn Off??

Hi guys, I have a question and I tried to search the forums to see if anyone else had this problem, but I haven't been able to find a thread, so I apologize if this has been asked before but.... I have a Moto X on Verizon (not rooted or ROM'd) and my wifi is constantly turning itself on, even when I manually turn it off. I've tried going into advance settings to fix it there, but it still keeps turning itself back on. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions?
What did you do in advanced wifi settings? Try turning off Google location services or all Location services. Does wifi still turn itself on? Check for any apps that may be calling for constant location access. Are you on your home wifi and does this happen elsewhere? Do you have mobile data on?

I unclicked scanning always available and keep wifi on during sleep. If I turn off all location services, won't that also turn off my GPS? The wifi is always turning on when I'm home, but it's also happened while I was driving or at school. I don't think I have any apps installed that'd be searching for wifi on its own, but I'm not sure how to check on that for sure.
Turning off Google location services won't affect gps, navigation, etc. Turning off the main Location services does affect those things. I was just hoping it would give you insight as to what is causing the issue. If you turn Location off and wifi does turn off, it may have to do with location settings in some app. Another way would be to boot into safe mode (no other apps running) with location services on. If wifi turns off, some app may be responsible. Get Safe mode by long-pressing the Power off and choosing OK to boot into safe mode. My advanced settings in wifi are Keep wifi on during sleep - Always, wifi optimization checked, and wifi band - Auto. All other settings are off.

Wifi drain
This thread may be dead, but I thought I would try since it is similar to my issue. I have 2 XT1060s and have them both set up the same. Keep wifi on during sleep - only when plugged in. Unchecked scanning always available. Both phones have the same apps and settings. On one of my phones, the wifi will sleep just fine. On the other, the wifi shows 100% on time. I bought both phones used. The one that stays on all of the time was factory reset and set up from scratch. Problem is the one that has great battery life is pink and white, but I would prefer to use the all black one if I can get the battery life to improve. Any suggestions or troubleshooting info requests. Thanks in advance.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I'm always forgetting to turn it back on, and using loads of mobile data.
This problem might casusing due to some application which is conflecting with wifi settings. advice to re install the applications and then test. Factory reset can be done after this step. Thanks

Thanks for the replies. But these solutions seem to be for a different issue, they have the WiFi randomly disconnecting. The issue I have, is the WiFi turning off, as in the WiFi toggle is turned off, it connects fine and is stable when in range. But when I leave range the toggle changes to off. I'd a assume it's either a bug, or a battery saving feature, but regardless I don't want to have to toggle the WiFi back on everytime I come into range of my WiFi.
