So basically just answer the poll based on a normal day of usage...
I'm curious as to how other people's nexus ones are doing in terms of battery life. I can practically watch the battery % drop. It lasts about 15-16 hrs, but thats even with being careful (enabling airplane mode in areas with no reception, disabling GPS some places, using only 2g at times). Heck, today, I lost 25% over 2.5 hrs, I was listening to music for about an hour, and was surfing the web for a little bit as well.
Yeah I can literally watch my battery drop as well. It's the always on data connection. One day turn off cellular data for the whole day just as a test, and see how much longer your battery will last. It's such a huge difference you could prob go 2 full days easily.

36 hours actually, that's what I got when I turned off background data, wifi, location services, chat, messengers, and screen brightness last fm syncing.but then its just a phone...and boring. Id rather use it to its full potential and charge it up when it needs petted like a puppy.
On average with normal use I go about 12 to 19 hours.
With data on, losing about 1.5% an hour in standby, with syncing and all. Math says if I don't touch it, it can stay synced 70 hours till discharged (assuming no phone calls and no SMS). Tried once, stopped after 48 hours with ~40% remaining.
Sorry, but this poll is useless.. Smart Phones are not dumbphones, you can't stamp a "runs this long" label on it. Everyone has a different configuration, different things set up, different accounts/number of accounts, different data moving on those accounts, higher/lower/no sync/notifications on social media, etc...
What you're going to get is this: People who play 3D games at high brightness for 3-4 hours and kill the battery. And people who have everything disabled and never use the phone and it lasts 2-3 days. You might get some in between, but the two above are the most likely to respond because it's "exceptional".
So I'm not completely OT and just complaining, I have online IMAP with K9, weather, Google cal etc syncing, randomly use it during the day, not much phone calls but checking the market etc... I average 2.5-3.5%/hr.
This holidays when I was abroad (no cell data) I found myself at night with the Nexus being at 65 - 70% battery after some GPS positioning (not navigation) for offline maps (rMaps FTW), some snapshots, about half an hour wifi and a pair of sms and one phone call. So yes, blame the always-on cellular data.
My method
This is what I do to maintain superior battery life:
1. I run CM 6 RC3 (I've found good battery life on this.)
2. I under clock the cpu (245-384) while the screen is off. This is a huge battery saver.
3. I turn off wi-fi (I found when I accidentally leave it on, I do loose a significant amount of battery when compared to when it is off, as it searches for networks.)
Thats really about it... My battery lasts the entire day and more (just by a little), with moderate usage. I do know, though, with heavy usage, the phone won't last as long.

my sentiments exactly!!!
I could, and I have made it last almost 45 hours with steady SMS usage.
I'd stick it in my locker, disable all activity (background, 3g, etc.), and when I took it out, I'd let it check my gmail and sms. Make my replies, and stick it back in my locker, pocket, or on my desk.
My main connection with family and friends is via SMS, so it's pretty easy to go the entire day with no internet use.
I'm running Enoms latest and I'm getting great battery life. Been 18 hours and I'm still at 52% with moderate usage. Not a lot of phone calls but plenty of texting, twitter updates and browsing through Google Reader. I have everything set to sync every half hour or less, GPS is on all the time and I have my screen set to auto brightness.
I just make sure to calibrate my battery when I flash a completely new ROM or when I notice my battery life getting worse. With Enom's ROMs I've never had bad battery life that couldn't be fixed with a calibration.

6:30am-11:30pm (17hrs): full brightness, WiFi on the whole time, Bluetooth on the whole time, gps the whole time (location services for about an hour), a few hours of talk, few hours of mp3, hour or so of Pandora, few hours of web browsing, gchat all day long,Twitter all day, taking some pics and video, and sync with two Google accounts and one Facebook. Percentage left at the end of the day... 30%!!!!!!!!
im in the same boat as ywindlass
im running cm6 with setcpu set to underclock while the screen is off. I also have it set to underclock once my battery level gets to 40%. I went from 12 hours per day with light to moderate use to almost 24 hours.
Yeah, CM6-RC3 with setCPU making the CPU underclock when the screen is off is the way to go. I've been able to listen to music for at least 6 hours a day and still be at 50% battery life by the time I go home.
About 16 hours on stock FroYo with 3G on, some music, lot of surfing, RSS feeds...
Please rate your screen on time to the nearest half hour.
If you respond to the poll, please reply as well so more can see it.
If you have abnormally hi/low times please post your thoughts on why.
I'm going to take this chance to recommend you use Firefox instead of Chrome for internet browsing. Not sure why but Chrome just uses a lot of power. I frequently see 30% ratings on the battery usage stats screen.
Switching to Firefox and unless I go above 6 or so tabs I'm almost always ~half Chrome's power usage. So, 15-20% max usually.
conclusion:
75% of users get >3.5h screen on time.
3.5 hours with Dalvik.
Switched to ART Saturday night and first day on Sunday and again today was pushing 4 hours SOT, so a slight improvement. Have to wait and see if it improves over time as I have not had any FC's with any of the apps I use so I'll keep running ART to see if that helps.
Google Now is on, screen set at 10% (auto way too aggressive), Location set to Mode - Battery Saving (I know if I switched to Device Only that could help, but then Google Now location based cards don't work) so leaving it on for now.
This is pretty hard to reply on just because I never let my phone get down to 1% to have a gauge of SOT. Do I partake in the poll if I'm at 40% at the end of my day with 2h54min SOT?

I would extrapolate, you probably get 4h being pessimistic. Your battery stats might be off.

bump for more poll results! please vote!
While I'm curious where this goes I urge ppl. not to take results as reference as user patterns differ wildly. Syncing, Now!, BT, data on/off, 2G or 3G or LTE, GPS or network location, apps, brightness, sleep time all can make a difference in SoT.
I noticed that I'm getting more battery drain when I set location to battery saving mode. I noticed when I was on battery saving mode that it was causing Google services to run much longer.
I have all connections on. Bluetooth, push services, exact location, location reporting, Google now, screen brightness on auto. I get roughly 3-4 hrs of SOT.

5 hours give or take a half an hour. Can do six.
4hr SOT if I use until battery hits ~5%.
Often getting 2hr SOT at about 50% remaining.
50% wifi, 45% lte, 5% airplaneMode, bluetooth/nfc always on, auto-brightness on, data sync on
Location reporting on (battery saving mode), GNow off
using dalvik, stock rom, stock kernel
6 hours franco r13
Best is seven and a half hours. But that was a bit of a best possible conditions environment and screen was at manual 20% brightness.
Faux kernel.
I get an average of 5 hours with my phone.
what are you all getting without Faux123's 002 kernel?
I'm on 003 with underclocking wow big difference in drain.

I Always have LTE off unless i'm tethering, HSPA+ is fast enough for phone use. Screen is always below 50%, google now off, location at battery saving. all sync is set to off/manual. wifi/bt almost always on. I do about 1.5 hours of a2dp streaming per day.
With all of those conditions I have seen 4-4.5 hours over a 2 day discharge cycle. I could probably get another hour if I used my phone over the course of 1 day instead of 2.
3.5 hours average per day/charge with an hour of games. 4.5 hours with no games.
Wifi+Data, 30% brightness Google Now on, most Google sync off, GPS: battery saving.
5.5-6.5 hours on mobile moderate use and every sensor on. Only change is manual 25-30% brightness. This phone is multiples brighter than anything I've used. If it had lower minimums I would keep in on auto. The n7 is the same way.

Lux is quite good at managing auto brightness, you can set a lower average. Not sure if it's compatible with 4.4 just yet.

These results are pretty encouraging imo. I'll be coming from an HTC Rezound that usually gets around 2 hrs of SOT, so it looks like this will most likely be an improvement according to the poll. I'd love an extra hour to an hour and a half of SOT compared to what I usually get
Consider this a bump I guess, since I can't actually vote yet. Just getting more and more excited cause I just got my shipping notification today.

It all depends what you use your phone for, It's no problem to drain your battery in 3 hours while playing power hungry games. So screen on time does not say much. It highly fluctuates depending what's running on your device. On average KitKat gives you a little longer battery then lollipop
Ok
i dont have any game on my note
regular use... Whatsapp, mail...

After flashing a rom (stock or other) the phone will be hot and that can have a huge affect on battery life if you try to test it straight after that. Give it a full discharge and recharge, check to see if your mobile coverage is weak too as that can affect battery a lot no matter what rom you are on. Especially if you use apps like WhatsApp, which try to get push messages from a weak signal area.
In my case lollipop gives more screen on time , around 6 hours and 16hrs life in total .Where as the KitKat standby time is better . Really depends on usage , but 3 hours SOT only in Whatsapp and mails is pretty bad
Install better battery stats or wake lock detector , de-bloat unwanted system apps and flash a custom kernel and tweak CPU profiles .. I am sure u will churn out 5+hrs SOT after fine tuning . Good luck !
On my lollipop before i had only 3 hours screen time and my battery will be under 20% after 9 hours usage. Now i downgraded to kitkat, as you can see i got a suberb battery life. Playing CoC, facebook, viber, emails, calls, and browser. And my phone was only charged at 90% when i unplugged it. Im in the office most of the time, cant play on the phone often
Have you tried turning off the features of your phone that you don't use like Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi connectivity and the mobile data usage.
I have read awesome stuff about this device's battery life and SOT, but I barely get 3.5 to 4 hours of SOT. Does anyone have a possible solution? This is ironic considering my previous crappy lenovo phone would give me 6-7 hours of SOT. Any battery saving kernel or ROM would also be appreciated, as I have unlocked bootloader and am running stock oos (latest open beta) rooted with magisk. Please advice, as if this is a hardware problem then I will return it ASAP.
Unfortunately, this thread has been made many times. No matter how specific your case is you have to analyze your usage.
But, if you need you can make yourself a quick checklist.
Whats apps are installed?
What do you do with your phone?
How many things do you sync?
How often do you game?
Do you have social media apps installed? Instagram, facebook, snapchat etc
What browser do you use?
And where did you read 7 hours SoT?
The reason being for people posting that they get 7-8 hours SoT is because those people use their phone all the time. If you look at their screenshots their idle time is non existent. With my phone that i've done a custom debloating and removed system apps that are worthless battery hogs, I get about 5 hours SoT. I leave my phone idle a lot. Idle still drains battery. If you use your phone on and off through the day, 5 hours SoT is really good. Thats what you should expect. If you get 3-4 hours SoT with normal usage patterns then you have an issue. Id say for every hour of idle time expect to lose perhaps 5 minutes of SoT. Your phone is technically a computer, its doing things constantly so it is never truly idle.
Go OOS 3.5.4. Greenify all apps Plus Play services, have xposed and install amplify to control wakelocks. Use L Speed, Keep data/wifi on only when using.
Why are you guys so obsessed with SoT? I usually get 4-5 hours with one day and half usage and at least 2 hours of Bluetooth + Spotify. As previously stated, the battery life varies on usage. Just take a look on possible wake locks if battery stats are weird. Stop focus on trying to beat the SoT world record and actually start to enjoy your phone as the beast it is
Just use Betterbatterystats and u will find the culprit.

3.5 hours is below average so there is some app which is draining your battery but around 4.5 hours / 5.5 hours sot is normal and average battery life, if you see those people which post pics with over 8 hours of sot they are lying and are faking the results, trust me so dont bother with it..
Install betterybatterystats and see which app is draining ur battery and unistall it or use greenify on it
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
7.45 to 8 hours SOT (Always LTE , Moderate Brightness , Full Volume , Mostly YouTube Streaming , Browsing )
10.00 hours SOT (moderate usage, removed bloatware, low-medium brightness), amazingly good battery life!
About 8 hours of SOT
P.S. How can one debloat Rosy 5?

You can use apps like Lucky Patcher if you're rooted. If not, you can follow this tutorial - https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
I personally debloated my Redmi 5 with the tutorial, because I don't have root currently.
7-8 hours, about 4 of them are gaming, some anime watching and a bit of youtube and chrome
I have 2gb/16gb verient.
Lets start with charging-
redmi takes 2 hours from 0 to 100%. First 90% charged in 90 minutes.
Battery Backup- I got around 12:30 hours of Screen on time.
Usage- Browsing (Kiwi browser in night mode) and youtube most of the time. rest music and tried a game for 30 min (Honkai Impact 3rd) as game was lagging so i uninstalled it. Sync was on for 3-4 hours and location services was turned off.
Brightness- 40-50%
Data Usage- 70% wifi and 30% 4G/3G
Note- Those charging curves in the graph are from the pc as i was transfering some files and second time i was debloating the device. No Battery saving mode, No change for animations.
From what I've gathered; the SOT of this phone is great but...
What about stand-by time?
Can anyone tell me how much battery percentage the phone looses at night (~8 Hours)?
To me, anything beyond ~5% with 3G cellular data turned on (4G is overrated!) is unacceptable.

Without sync, wi-fi and cellular data, it drains 1% per 10 hours for me. With sync and cellular data/wi-fi, it would drain 3-4% per 10 hours.
