Hey, I'm curious how much battery life your phones last. You can attach photos + write what system is currently used.

First off I can't spell battery............
I have an ATT Captivate that I have fixed by installing FF3 and Kernel 2.6.32.9 as a package from this site. My battery life isn't noticably worse than it was when it was the stock 2.2 but it still sucks. After 10 or 12 hours of very light use its down aound 15%. The battery use says it's hands down the display thats using the juice.
I was hoping (maybe wrongly so) that having the additional access to the phone I could somehow improve my battery life. I've tried the bump charge, recalibrate, CWR erase battery stats, etc. I also have 2 batteries for it (that probably tells you something right there) and both batteries behave the same.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this? Is there a launcher that I can use that's battey friendly? A different ROM?
It's a shame to have this phone to the state it is with a FF3 rom and faster than it was and not be able to use it all I want.
TIA, Jeff
Some things to help get the best battery life are:
Place screen brightness at lowest level both on web browser and on normal screen.
Switch to 2G when not needed for downloading/uploading data.
Turn off power saving mode under settings/display.
Use as few widgets as possible.
Manually retrieve emails rather than having them sent to you every 30 minutes or less.
In cwm there is a battery settings menu (can't remember what it is called) but you should enable that also.
These are some of the better ways to get better battery life out of your phone.

In 10-12 hours you only have 15% left on your phone? How much time is used for display? My phone can usually last a good 15-20 hrs with light to moderate use. As we all know display is the number one use for battery consumption. I've noticed I can go about 2 and half hours give or take on display before my battery gets kinda low.
As the previous poster has mentioned, screen brightness and data usually are the culprits for bad battery life. Try leaving your screen brightness on a low setting, and turning auto-brightness OFF. Disabling background data in "accounts and sync" setting is also a very good way to help with battery life. Also, making sure your GPS is OFF is another good way to save some juice.

Is there an application that will tell me this other than the about->battery ? Currently my info is limited to percentage of total battery useage and is showing that display is 96%.

Flashed ROM (FF3) while batt low?
I'm pretty sure the batt was not 100% when I flashed to FF3 and I did not clear everything out before either. If this is a potential problem with batt life can I fix this short of reflashing on a full batt?
Is going into CWR and restoring from a backup going to do the same thing as reflashing FF3 from the batteries perspective if I clear everything first?
TIA, Jeff
I have about 8 batteries (new & old), and want to figure out which are worth keeping or binning. My thoughts were:
1. Charge battery
2. Reset stats
3. IMPORTANT!!!! Put battery in phone
4. Boot and run Juice Offender until dead.
Does this make sense, or is there another way/app to make it easier. Thanks, Ian
Well, yes and no because atleast in my phone, it takes a while for a new battery to settle so that u truly see how long it lasts. And Juice DEFENDER(not offender, lol ) also needs a good time to settle with the batteries info
Thanks for your post. Actually, it is Juice OFFENDER (purpose - switch everything on to drain battery)
For my purposes I don't believe the battery needs any settle in time. It is after all just an energy source, and as long as battery stats are reset I think the OS will treat all batteries the same. Am working on it, will report back my findings just n case anyone else reads....
Oke amigo
Get the "Nova Battery Tester" app. It has the ability to do a short ~15 minute benchmark of the true capacity of your battery. My >2 year old orginally 1500mAh battery only had around 900 "true" mAh left. I bought a new battery and finally restored my battery life.
Hey,
I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the Xerpia commuity. I'd like to say that I love this phone since upgrading from my SG2. I have the Xperia Z from T-Mobile and look forward to creating themes for it.
1. I see that some people have mentioned setting the bightness slider to a certain level and using the auto brightness function when they work to save battery life. How does this help in saving battery life? Is it setting a level for the screen not go below and then letting the sensor adjust more brightness if needed? I usually set my devices to 1/4 of the way with sensor off thinking the sensor measuring light would be an extra drain on the battery.
2. I'm new to this device and the only hesitaton to get it because of the built in battery. I've owned plenty of smart phones to know the battery life is truely dependant on how you use it; use it more and battery drains faster etc. There was no expectation that this one would be any different. Has anyone had good results using an external battery pack to charge the phone on the go? If so which brand would you recommend? These things have dropped in price over the last year and I'm considering getting one to take on trips or events where having access to a plug wouldn't be a real option. Many of them claim to charge phones 2 or 3 times on each charge (depending on size of the batteries at play of course).
Thanks

Good questions.
Personally I use the brightness slider at about a 3rd with the auto on, I also have a toggle in the drop down notification that dims the screen on touch, you can find that in settings - display - quick settings. I find my battery life to be perfectly acceptable, it lasts all day as long as I don't do any serious gaming or massive uploads/downloads.
As for external batteries I personally have one of these...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/KingMansion...tery-Xperia/dp/B00EOKQ5E2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ce_2
It's 4200mAh so a decent amount more than the Xperia Z itself, 2330mAh if I'm right. It isn't too expensive at £17 (don't know what that is in foreign money). It fits well and charges the battery at about the same rate as the mains charger except it's through the pins.
The Z has a great battery, it could be better but then what phone has a perfect battery. Just don't go crazy on the heavy usage, you'll destroy the battery in minutes, 40 minutes on GTA:Vice City and my battery is gone.
hi

Any conversations about battery life are very subjective. There are so many variables involved, what apps you use, what your local basestation is, even what wifi you home router uses along with what sort of charger you use, can all influence battery life and longevity. You can't compare your hours of use with someone else, unless you have two cloned phones and live in the same house and get up and go to bed at the same time
Fo me, best stock rom for battery life is presently Slim 2.0
I don't think KK roms were that good at battery saving.
I have had pretty much the same apps and same usage on my phone through KK, LL and now MM.
With MM I am looking a 4 days on one charge, when I was on KK it was 2 possibly 3.
Although to scew those figures I now use more battery saving apps greenify/amlify
So in reality, the different firmwares are probably all the same battery use, it's just that you get better at looking after the battery the longer you have the phone.

Hey guys,
I have been playing with quite a lot of miui 12 settings to some how decrease battery drain and come up with these settings.
1)settings/privacy l/usage and diagnostic
When i turned this off my battery drain spiked on average i am loosing 8-10% daily overnight is it correct?
2) settings/password and security/privacy
Here you will find two more setting user experience program and send usage diagnostic data.
My question is that about these two setting will turning off increase battery drain.
Also if you guys have any more tips do share it
Thanks for reading it
