Hello friends!
I had a Samsung Galaxy Ace which I recently sold and now want to upgrade. Problem is that I am stuck with a few and am not able to decide which one should I go for.
1. Samsung Galaxy S I9000: This phone has the best screen in the lot but only 340 MB usable RAM (Balance is reserved for the system). Has 16 GB internal memory and 2 GB ROM. Moreover, I read some where that Samsung will stop providing updates for this phone very soon.
2. Samsung Galaxy SL I9003: This has a good 4 inch screen but not as good as I9000. Got 478 MB Usable RAM but only 4 GB internal memory and 1 GB ROM. Pice is a little less than I9000. Is it better than I9000?
3. HTC Desire S: Good 768 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM but unfortunately has only 3.7 inch screen. Undoubtly built quailty is the best but is also a bit costilier than the rest.
4. LP OPtimus 2X: Best processor, 1 GB ROM, 512 RAM but cheap built quality and not that very attractive. Screen below I9000 and still costilier than I9000.
5. Dell Venue: 4.1 inch screen, 1 GB ROM, 512 MB RAM but nothing special that stands out.
The problem is that I belong to a small place and so cant get a hand on to any of these mobiles, else I would have tested them myself. I just have your word for it. So please recommend me which is the one I should jump for.
Thank you.
Why did u miss ?
GALAXY S 2 .... Go for it ...
There are new did phones coming out with samoled screens, I wouldn't worry about 340 mb of ram, that is perfectly fine for a phone, ram is meant to be used.
Cyanogen mod on this phone is amazing and android is great with memory management. Android is not like windows and can run perfect even with 20 mb free.
Right now I have 135 mb free and DO NOT use a memory or app killer.

+1 to that !!
memory isnt such a big deal for android, however storage space is a big deal for the user... the SGS 1 has plenty of internal storage and an external sd card for that little extra if needed.
there are some fantastic ROMs and tweaks for this phone at the moment and its running superb to how it was 6 months ago. it can still keep up with whatever you throw at it.
the screen is the USP its unbeatable for me. and 2.3.3 just been released too so thats also a thumbs up .
but..... if i could afford it, i would go for the SGS 2
i may be saying that because i have had the SGS 1 for 6 months and would like a change, but on the other hand there is not AS much support for the SGS 2 YET, but im sure there will be when more developers upgrade to it.
either way, i would recommend you get a SGS whether it be 1 or 2 you wont regret the decision
Thanks guys... As of now I cant afford SGS 2. BTW, are you sure the updates would continue with SGS I9000? Moreover, which would be better amongst Galaxy S I9000 (16GB) @ $450 or Galaxy SL I9003 (4GB) @ $390?
Hi guys I'm Enjor and im actually using a rooted kernel for my note 5 and I'm noticing that when Im doing the hotspot. It doesnt count everything in the tmobile methered tool and I doesnt know what I did for that to happen and right now I doesnt even want to flash any rom or anything... I just want the help of you guys if I did something that it isnt counting toward the methering thing.. im in the unlimited plan just in case. (Sorry for my bad english) here is some pictures from my phone as you can see the cycle will end at march 16 and if you notice tmobile says that I have consumed 20 gigs and my phone says 34 and in tmobile acc says that I have consumed just 1 gig of hotspot but I know that I have consumed a lot more since I have watched like 10 episode from a hulu series with my girl and I have downloaded things in my pc and you get it... Well I think that I actually have consumed in hotspot like 14 gigabytes since it says 20 gigs in tmobile consumed and my phone 34 gigs and and as far I can see in my phone you know that in android where you see the data usage it says all the apps and how much have consumed each one it doesnt sum up the 34 gigs too the most Chrome with 6.14 gigs. Android OS with 3.67 gig hotspot with 2.77 and I dont think thats actually all I think thats when I share my internet with my girl to her iphone from att, facebook 679MB then 497 mb, 380mb, 340mb, 279 and all the other one like 10 more with less than 100 mb and that doesnt sum up the actual 34 gigs of usage shown in the data usage. "and sorry for my phone number in image Dont care about it just dont call me" and again pardon me for my english I hope that you guys understand what I wrote here and sorry for the punctuation.
Well since I doesnt have more than 10 post.. cant post any pictures of it
Welcome!
I have very annoing problem with internal storage in my Xperia Z1. It has 12gb of memory. I have free +- 500 mb free space. Apps, photo, movies, music etc. are eating +-3,5 gb space. Where's the rest of 12 gb? There should be more free space, something about couple of gb's. Tell me, what's going on? I know, I can use link2sd, but wait.. If everything will be okey - It'll be not necessary to do that. I hope that somebody will lend a hand and help me. Peace & Love.
p.s. I tried to upload screenshot from my phone but.. I don;t have 10 posts so I can't post outside links..
Since Moto G 2 is has only 8 GB, I was wondering how much space take the available custom ROMs for Titan? What is the best option regarding free space?
My only criticism with the N8 is RAM management. I moved from the Xperia XZ with 3GB of RAM and purposefully went for a device with 6GB because of reloads. Yet my N8 reloads the sites and apps in question every bit as much. I read that he N8 had much better RAM management with Nougat, is this so?*
My N950F 128 GB model almost never reloads, it only reloads when I execute device maintainance, which clears ram and all cached non essential stuff
I'm on Nougat and mine reloads after opening just two other apps briefly, or one app when using it extensively. Having 6 GB of RAM has had no improvement in this regard over the phones I've had with 2 gb of RAM.
I wish we could dedicate a certain amount of RAM to a few of our most used apps.
I never understood how the phone could use nearly 3.5 gigs of ram for background processes.
It would appear that there is no benefit when using a phone with 6GB versus a phone with 3 or 4GB. What a shame. A massive waste of multitasking possibilities.
You guys do realize free ram is wasted ram on android....
Since android 5.0 Ram management has gotten so much better..So what if you only have say 1 gb free Thats a good thing you are utilizing what you got...Nothing beats a good reboot once every couple days clear it out.Ram managers are a waste of battery...

Good article on RAM and what's stored and used in it.

That doesn't explain why my 6GB N8 reloads just as badly as my 3GB Xperia XZ. It holds hardly anything in memory before reloading/refreshing. I love the phone but specifically got it for the RAM which in my experience is kinda for show. It doesn't improve anything.
Well, I agree with you being so upset about YOUR particular note 8 behaving as a 3 gb ram device or worse, but my device reloads only sometimes, not all the time, I usually have some 800-1000 mb of free ram, in device maintainance I have some 60 apps unmonitored and 194 to always sleeping untill I run them
Use eternal process lock.. Its an xposed module.. It will lock the app and it will not be killed.

It doesn't reload all the time, it just reloads the same apps with the same frequency that my Xperia XZ did. It must be down to Android ram management rather than the amount of RAM itself.
