Hi, in Helmi's vanilla 1.4 ROM, when I try to change the ringtone, the list is empty ! so I have two problems:
1 - I can't select a different ringtone
2 - I can't close the settings window once open and I have to perform a soft reset, leaving me with the default ringtone.
any help would be appreciated !

What happens if you drop in a mp3 or wav file into \Windows\Rings, does anything show up?
Have you installed /any/ other programs since flashing with this ROM?
I rebuilt my BA last night with this exact ROM and it's working fine.
Thanks jdc ! the windows/ring folder was indeed empty as all the files are in the windows directory... problem solved. Thanks again!
and mp3 files work fine - great !

That sounds like the layout on mine as well., but I was always able to pick from the default rings and ones that i added to \Windows\Rings.
So when you dropped a file into the rings directory, they all started working?
I have problem with the latest offical ROM for my Htc TD2 with the music tab on the manila.The problem is in that when i press start on some song ,it starts but after 3-4 sec it's stop.I've preflashed it few times but without any progress.With the older rom version i didn't have this problem.From where it can be?

It has to do with the album art and\or the ID3 tags, I believe.
Do a search for "manila music stops after 3 seconds" and you'll find a few threads addressing this issue and the fixes for it.
PLS give me a link or something like that because i can't find nothing that can be useful on me HTC TD 2
Many different solutions with that search:
Here's one.
More here:
and the list goes on.
Those things didn't work for me,I've try also to copy mp3-s with activsync ,try with different sd card and the problem is there on new music tab also and on Duttys roms and all other with the new sense can you help me and is there solution except to back to older version of the rom?
Did you remove all of the album art and make sure all files are not read only?
Yes ,i did it few times,but the problem is still there .i've found one solution ,but it's stupid and useless-it's to put mp3-s in internal memory and remove the sd(only then it works) or to put max 3 mp-3s on sd

I don't remenber where is it in the registry, but you need to modify paths where your mp3 are, internal and memory card, in this case it's crash because where you put your mp3 on the memory card isn't the correct path in registry; do this with 6.5 and 2.5 sense.

Try this, in registry go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Information\
albumart_update_failure= 0
albumart_update_success= 0
albumart_updating= 0
albumArtPath= Remove Value
available_storage_card= Storage Card;
With mp3s on SD card, set the following value to a specific song
path= (eg., \Storage Card\My Music\Songname.mp3)
Soft reset and see what happens.
This is not working
Try this:
With file explorer go to
My device\Application data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\
delete file "AudioManager_Eng.vol" and make a soft reset.

The last one should have fixed it.
You may want to consider a hard reset or refomat your SD card.
These are all the known fixes for this issue.
Sorry.
maybe you can check your mp3s one by one. i had nearly the same problem. the reason was one special mp3 album that made the player stop after some seconds/minutes. i deleted all the mp3s on my sdcard and copied them one by one / album by album on my sdcard and checked every time if the player stops after a while. at least i found the album / mp3s that were corrupted...

Hello guys ,like all of you i am a Htc fan and i had the same problem on my touch diamond...After many tryes i did solved this problem for me.
Try this and it should work and please post a reply if it works for you too
1-Go to youre music folder (path with all the music) and delete all the songs bigger than 10,5 Mb.
2-Go in device memory "Application Data"->"Htc"->"AudioManager_Eng" and there you will find a folder called "Playlists" and a file "AudioManager_Eng.vol"
3-Delete this folder "Playlists" ,and rename "AudioManager_Eng.vol" as you wish ,Eg. "asdfdasd".
4-Reboot your device and the player sohould be fine after a long seach for music.
5-For all the operation i ussed TotalCommander.
I hope it will work for all of you.
TotalCommander
Here you go !

Thank you for helping me out.
I have updated to the latest kernel. I am using TOPA210
Can anyone please help me. I have tried everything I can think of, but no luck. I see that some people get sound.
Please help me....thank you
I have the same problem and im using the same device hTC Pure from at&t ...
TOPA200···isound work great!!
I also have topa 210 (Pure). I have found a way to ge a ringtone, but you would have to do the procedure after reboot. Also i have not found a way to get notifications or alarms yet. Hope I don't have to
1. boot into Andoroid
2. Open media scanner (You should be able to play music from your sdcard now!)
3. Using Astro file manager, navigate to sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
4. Select a ringtone you want to use (you can play it first).
5. Hold the File down until menu comes up
6. Select music options
7. Select set as ringtone
8. Enjoy!
If you look to see if your ringtones are selectable, they wil NOT be there. It will still say Silent, but the ringtone will still work. Try it out.
This is for Astro, but it may work with other programs
hello,
i tried to modify my poweron and shutdown boot sounds. first i used sgs tools and sgs tools told me that the sounds changed successful, but after reboot no sound (also not the standard sound) was playing.
so i tried to rename the shutdown.ogg and poweron.wav data in the system dir. after remounting that was no problem. but i was not able to get the new sound files in the system dir because of cross device linking errors.
so i tried a symlink from sd card to system and it looks like it work. but i dont know how to enable that boot sounds again. i tried standard sound on sgs tools again. i installied silent boot and deactivated the silent boot again so that maybe the "standard" sound would play again... but no.
so, after using first the sgs tools the boot sound crashes. anybody knows a solution?
Same here.... Any help????
Factory reset and wipe all data backup first .
Question better asked in themes section .

Hi, I have a problem with my custom ringtones since I had a factory reset after upgrading to Android 10 / EMUI10 - the phone does not "see" them any more. Did you have the same problem / what was the solution?

Thats not really confortable, better you create the standard android folders at root of your shown filesystem "Alarm, Ringtones, Notification" store your files here reboot and you can choose very confortable depending at the app. When you looking for notifications EMUI will show after this procedure the internal notifications and "only" the stored ones in the created folder "Notifications"

Seams like you either have to put the ringtones in shared internal storage/sounds
or in shared internal storage/Music/ringtones
don't know if notifications and alarms will work in Music folder.
Have done that now, but still waiting for anything to show up, don't know how to force update of the system.
"Music on Device" show everything, several hundreds of Audiobook files, don't know how to block that.
