Huwawei P8 Lite - Network Locked to Operator

Hi Guys
I'm from South Africa. I'm looking at getting a Huwawei P8 Lite but problem is it's Network Locked to the Service Provider that I'm taking it from.
It's on contract so the provider will only unlock it after 24 months. I don't wish to use the provider sim in the phone.
Can anyone advise if it's possible to unlock the phone and allow me to use any sim.
Just want to know before I go out and sign up for the contract
Thanks
Hello from Montenegro. In our country is the same rule, if you buy device from some Network Operator, it's locked to that network. But, this device comes unlocked. I've buyed this device on that way, way you're talking about, but it's unlocked. My friend buyed from the other Network Operator, and it's also unlocked. My sister form Serbia buyed same devce, and it's also unlocked. You can try to put your sim card before you buy that phone, to look if that's same in your country. In my country other devices comes locked to NP, but this comes unlocked.
Mo_786, if you are from South Africa, you're okay. It's illegal to sell a network-locked phone in SA. It's been that way for decades. Which provider is this?
To be more helpful:
What they can do is deliver phones with hamstrung firmware. So in the P8 lite's case, Vodacom have a custom ROM that disables the second sim-card, because they want you to buy their expensive data. But you can use any sim from any network in the first sim slot.
I have a Vodacom-contracted P8 lite ALE-L21 that has the bootloader unlocked and has been flashed to the dual-sim-capable European official B564 ROM. I have a Cell C sim for calling and an Afrihost sim for data.
In Croatia, you can request the unlock code immediately after you signed the contract, or if you buy the phone prepaid you can request it after a year.
In my case, the phone already came unlocked so i didn't even have to request the code.
Hi Proze.za
Where did you get the p8 lite flashed to enable dual sim capability?

Huawei P9 VoLTE

Hello guys! As i can know today, HUAWEI P9 (especially EVA-L19) does support VoLTE feature, but now its disabled on software-based level.
Today i was speaking with russian Huawei support team and they said, that need to collect many requests for enabling this feature.
As i know, this forum reading some Huawei stuff and via that thread i want to collect some requests for enabling that feature in next sw updates.
Many EU countries and Russia already launched VoLTE feature with LTE Video calling (in russia its Beeline and MegaFon)
I can just say that there's no VoLTE support on my P9 on Telenor/Telia network in Denmark.
Is there any way to activate volte on Huawei P9 lite VNS-L21? I purchased it from Dubai.
Yes Volte is required for my P9. I have also voted yes. Thank you for the thread
I am purchased from UAE,how can activate volte on my p9,now I am in in
India

i've seen dudes have voLTE in the magic rainbow thread try to install that rom. I can't test cause my country probably doesnt have voLTE in the first place.
With the New update C464B383 in Turkey here it came Volte support with Vodafone.

Dear Ryan Fox,
Most of the 4G operators in India or not 4GLTE, infact all of them are 4G VoLTE.
Huawei Phones purchased in China or UAE are not working with Voice calling, Data is fine.
I have 3 phones, Mate 8, Mate 9 and P9 all purchased in Huawei store in Schenzen during my visit to China.
They do not support 4G VolTE voice calling in India.
We all have to convey this message to the Experts in Huawei to issue some software upgradation over the Air.
my number +919493407596
Jio voice seems to work with the voice app(at least when i tried it a couple of months ago)
At least the two major French operators are providing volte but no option with my p9

New info about the Mate 10 Pro and Porsche for the US market.

In the course of adding rebranding support to the Mate 10 Pro/Porsche US editions as part of FunkyHuawei (Please see this post for details: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75279649&postcount=711 ) I can confirm the following:
1. The Mate 10 Pro and Porsche for sale in the US are re-purposed AT&T BLA-A09 devices. Other countries have the BLA-L29 or BLA-L09 so this is a US-centric codename, but in fact the hardware is identical.
2. The US edition of the Mate 10 Pro is single-sim. The Mate 10 Pro Porsche for the US market is also single-sim (other markets had dual sim porsche design editions). This is because they originally intended to release the phone with AT&T, which obviously wouldn't want them to release a dual-sim phone. If you live in the US and want dual sim, you're better off buying an international model and rebranding it, so you can have the dual sim functionality.
3. The US edition of the Mate 10 Pro/Porsche (or devices rebranded to the US branding) will support VoLTE on T-Mobile, but not VoWifi. However it does support both VoLTE and VoWifi on AT&T. If you want to check what is supported for your own MCC/MNC please look at this list, it's pulled from the US firmware:
https://pastebin.com/BGtr3VhT
If anyone wants to know more, you can ask in this thread or in the FunkyHuawei thread. We'll probably have many users rebranding to it and using it in the US soon.
What's the difference between the Mate 10 Pro and Porsche Design branding?

Generally the only differences are logos and branding and themes.
So does tmobile still have beef with huawei over stealing stuff? Feel like just about any recent unlocked flagship supports wifi calling on tmobile, most noticeably oneplus. I believe you could get axon7 working too.
What's the difference between VoLTE and a service like Google Voice that works with data? I mean if you have an LTE data connection and you're using a service like GV isn't that VoLTE by definition? Wouldn't the same apply for WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram etc if you were on an LTE connection? I don't really understand why VoLTE is hyped so much.

Volte would work for the native dialer. Using a secondary app is not something many folks in the US want to do (see imessage)
would there ever be a CDMA version at all ? I have a Verizon sim and tmobile I would love to use both sims or at least Verizon on the mate pro
Do you know if the current US branded firmwares are signed and will pass the safetynet test so I can use android pay? The earlier firmware version wasn’t so I rebranded back to the European version. Am in ATT and would love VoLTE and WiFi calling again but not if I can’t use android pay

You can use Google Voice on the primary dialler and as your primary number and also forward all calls from GV to your primary number.
just ordered a Huawei Mate 10 Pro International BLA-L29 for my wife and would like to rebrand to AT&T. i have a few questions regarding rebranding to ATT firmware:
is the FunkyHuawei ATT rebranded firmware the same that's [expected to be] installed on the US versions when they go on sale 18-Feb?
if i rebrand to ATT would i be able to root the device? if yes, will rooting disable some phone features?
on my Exynos Note 8, VoLTE and Wifi calling with ATT service will work if you (a) apply the ATT CSC (vendor config) to your rooted device using TWRP and (b) use the imei of an ATT device that supports those features. i'm hopeful that the same setup works for the Mate 10 Pro. thanks for taking time to respond to my questions.

@duraaraa - thanks for your reply.
Will the US variant support t-mobile's extended range LTE? I remember reading somewhere they were blocking devices that didn't pass their certification.
No wifi calling on T-Mobile means no buyie from my

It will not work on verizon for calls/texts.
isn't it all the same hardware?
Is the phone suppose to be on AT&T and Verizon before of political pressure and decided not to work with Huawei?
so the phone should works on both carriers, unless they plan to come out with 2 version??? hardware wise?
also, on the phone, it says 4G and a little + sign?
what does the + sign for?
I know in US is suppose to say 4G = 3.5 G and real 4G = LTE
but since this is a international version 4G should be LTE? but a + sign?
@duraaraa, i had heard that, in spite of being seen as expensive by most, people were nonetheless willing to pay up because your customer service was second to none!
However, unfortunately, i can't share their opinion; I've tried to reach you at least 3 times in the past, which, not having expected it to be warranted to have to "insist", i didn't document dates and times (for different reasons which, at the end, I've had to solve all without your expected assistance.)
Recently, i actually used the official means, per the "Contact" tab at FH Club. It's nearing the 3-digit hour mark, and i think it's time you at least tell me (or, maybe it's "US, the (no pun intended, U.S. customers) to take a hike and stop wasting my time and yours.
I'm approaching you in the most respectful manner, which I realize may be difficult to fully see when in writing. I am also fully aware of your Terms and Conditions which state that FH reserves the right to at any time and for any or no reason, stop providing support without having to issue so much as a cent paid for given service.
Lastly, it hasn't always been "Big, Bad Duraaraa; i acknowledge you have provided me input at other times in the past.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Does that mean U.S phones will be able to rebrand for better software support? O:

Getting a Mi8 from Middle East

In my experience, every phone has a particular variant that's more common than the others and some variants don't even support bootloader unlocking/custom recovery. (For example, my Honor 8's Asian version doesn't support bootloader unlocking).
So, if I bring a Mi8 from abroad (Saudi Arabia), should I look for any particular build number/model number or anything? Cuz I don't want to end up with a phone that I can't root or unlock.
Note: It's cheaper in UAE than in my country, that's why I'm going this way.

Question Dual Sim HELP

Needing a dual SIM phone for one of my clients. He is coming from an 8T. He bought an Unlocked 10 Pro from the US OnePlus website only to realize it is single sim. A quick search shows the international version has dual sim support Checking on Amazon I see both an international version and a Chinese version? The Chinese version also sells for about $200 less. I searched and could find very little about each phone working in the US. Are both these phones International and Chinese the same phone? Both dual SIM? Both have the same bands? If I purchase the Chinese version will I need to flash with a global or US rom?
Any drawbacks to having either phone in the US?
Thanks
BB

I'm in the UK and have the NE2213 which is essentially the global version.
Personal I'd avoid the Chinese version but that's me
You can change region but I'd rather pay the money and get the real deal.
Warranty is going to he an issue, unless you're buying it from Amazon.
As far I've read the EU / NE2213 should work as expected for what you want.
Have a google for what signal bands are required for the sins you're going to be using , it should still work but best to verify
me too bought USA version and later found that its single sim 2215. I converted to 2211 and enable dual sim support, added second imei, inserted dual sim tray as well but no matter what second imei is always null and second sim never detected.
