I can just confirm you that WiFi-hotspot works correctly with LineageOS 18.1 on 2.4Ghz band and without any particular change or customization.

Nexus One radio

So I have a Nexus One (AT&T/Rogers) and recently rooted it and installed Cyanogenmod 6. Since doing this I have been unable to use wifi on my phone, it connects and has a good signal but web pages simply wont load. Will updating the radio fix this?
Radio has nothing to do with WiFi. Kernel does.
I have not been able to find anything that would help me fix this. Could you please help me? My problem is really odd, the wifi says that it is connected and i can do basic stuff like Facebook and engadget but I cant browse the web, download apps or watch youtube. All of this stuff does work over the cellular signal.
Hard to say anything. Are you sure the problem is on the phone side? Did you check other WiFi networks, have the same symptoms everywhere? Did you check other ROMs? Did you ask in CM6 thread?
I have tried several wifi connections but not other roms. If anyone does have another suggestion please post.

Fickle Wifi

Hello all, I have my nexus 6 on my homes WiFi and from time to time while loading content I'll see that there is no data coming in or out(status bar let's me know), yet I'm still connected to the WiFi and other devices are able to load things at the same time. And then at other times it will disconnect from the network, fiddle with LTE for about 10 seconds and then reconnect, it makes all my apps believe I'm offline until it reconnects like 30 seconds later. Anything you can think of thats messing with me?
Have you posted in the Pure Nexus or Elemental thread to see if anyone is experiencing something similar? You might consider flashing back to stock to see if it's hardware.

Will go ahead and try the other forums and then try stock for a day if they haven't noticed anything, thanks!

Some have luck freezing Google Connectivity Service. Read the reviews here.

Switching to legacy wifi in Developer Opions, Networking helps some.
I get drops from my bluetooth to my watch and then wifi drops. It comes back in a few seconds, but frustrating. I've seen more reports of the N6, but all Nexii seem affected. Search the N6 forum to see the reports, there are plenty, instead of posting the same questions again, it is not a large number of us, but it is constant irritation to those of us who have it.

Are you referring to "Use legacy DHCP client" in Developer options? That's the only option I see that looks like it might be legacy WiFi. I've been having lots of Bluetooth dropouts on both my headset and Android Wear watch.
Also, what would I lose if I freeze Google Connectivity Service?

Yes, legacy DHCP client.
On freezing Google Connectivity Services, all I know is what is in the play store link, or if you Google it, there are plenty of hits on this Bt and Wifi drop issue with Nexus. I see no real changes with freezing it and changing the legacy DHCP. Since BT and Wifi are controlled by kernel modules, I've tried all kinds of kernels, and nothing seems to help much.
I'm running Pure Nexus ROM (July) and ElementalX kernel (August). I've tried stock Nexus ROM and kernel and all kinds of ROM/kernel combos.
From what I see, it is a Nexus problem with some devices.
I turned off Wifi in my Huawei watch and turned off cloud sync in the Android Wear app, and they has helped with watch BT dropouts.
this sucks, im suffering from the same issue, thought this was my router problem, changed it, didnot work , now i know it was google services, any solution? freezing the connectivity services didnt help
Have y'all tried different radios? flashable radios thread

Radios are only for cellular data.
Bluetooth and Wifi are controlled by the kernel modules, so radios have no effect on bluetooth or wifi.

Thanks again! I just turned off cloud sync too, so hopefully these changes will help.
I am having the same issue with Wifi, the only thing that helped was upgrading to Android N beta. That solved my connection problems but since I can't use exposed I went back to 6.0.

Am I the Only One with Trouble Tethering After Switch from Nougat to Oreo or Pie?

Tether was working fine on Nougat, after adjusting Windows with TTL, a changed user-agent, etc., and then in Android adding the "dun" parameter to my APN, but with any Oreo or Pie ROM, it gets incredibly slow, as if I do not have "dun" in my APN, even when using ROMs that allow "dun" in APN.
I'd really like to upgrade from Nougat, but don't want to give up tether.
Has anyone else faced this issue and prevailed?
EDIT:
I flashed OOS Oreo, tried what settings I could with no good results, then flashed 4.5.1 firmware and modem into it to see if older firmware was the solution, tried what settings I could to no avail.
Back on Nougat now, which does the job just fine.
Alas however, I may never be able to buy a new phone, unless Nougat can be installed onto it.
You're certainly not the only one. Tethering support is getting harder as carriers find ways of making it more restricted. There are ROMs and Devs that have worked on it with mixed results. It's possible with enough leg work you might get it working on a particular ROM, if you can get the dev to work with you on it. Otherwise it's luck of the draw whether you can find a ROM that will work in your particular case.
Telephony is getting complicated and there are more people concerned with VoLTE and the like. Look what a mess that still is on custom ROMs.
Does anyone know of any ROMs where this is actively being fixed? That is, one can tether without degradation, as one used to be able to do in Nougat? Tethering works, it's just horribly slow.

NLOS is your best bet. If it's not working already the dev is willing to work with users to resolve issues.
Here's an example of Tethering restrictions getting worse, with Google leading the charge:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/9r6r13/tether_dun_required_no_longer_works_on_pixel_3_xl/
I'm surprised Google don't get whiplash in their haste to bow to pressure from US Carriers.

Thank you @Dirk, and agreed--I'm surprised google doesn't get backlash--maybe not enough people tether?
Also surprised that more devs didn't just immediately address that--maybe not enough devs tether?
I may try NLOS, or the Magisk module--it might work.
Does anyone using NLOS know if tether works properly? I will ask in that thread also.

Guide to modify kernel for another variant of android device

I have a note 5 n920T and the problem that I have is that most of the oreo or pie custom rom dont exist for this particular model. if a rom boots on it usually call audio is an issue. So, I want to modify existing kernel to work with n920T. I have been unable to find any guide related to "modify kernel for another variant of android device". Can anyone point me to any related guide or tutorial or video. I am a newbie to development and watched a few videos related to custom rom development but it doesn't help me as I want to modify kernel belonging to say n920C to work with n920T. I shall be grateful for your guidance. I have programming knowledge including c and c++
The big issue is with the speaker not working properly when ported to the T-Mobile variant. I believe it's a driver issue.
To be honest, none of the Oreo roms for our device are "good". They both are too unstable and have some major issues such as no/bad Camera (most apps will just crash), Bluetooth doesn't work, etc.
I've been using Oreo lately and just today alone I've had 10+ freezes/reboots. Unable to use bluetooth. Many apps using the camera just crash.
I think it's time to upgrade from our device as there's just no third party support anymore. The LG G7 seems to be the best value high-end phone on ebay, however there's not much support via XDA at this time.

Is there a way to enable WiFi Calling in Moto G5s Plus, even via root, in India ?

Hi, I have been seeing a lot of posts about this phone supporting WiFi calling in TMobile-US, can't use it here with carriers in India. I read that it is hidden and is made visible in some cases by showing them from apps like "Activity Launcher", which doesn't work in all cases. Not working here, unrooted device.
I am curious if anyone with root is able to do that, or some other way to enable it ?

I used pixel experience rom on my device and got wifi calling option, but the battery drain was very bad, so flashed stock rom again.
