I'm a retired Linux programmer. Haven't done any Android programming. Just installed an Android head unit into a new to me 2013 Tacoma. It's a great unit, and does most of what I want. But not everything, so I will have some questions for you Android pros. Cheers, Al

Hi guys! Im a 32 year old veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Im a bit banged up now and no longer able to pursue my previous hobbies and lifestyles, so Im looking for new ones.
An android device of mines was recently hacked, which prompted my journey into android and my stumbling across XDA.
I've started familiarizing myself with Linux (Debian distro) command lines and OS (seemed a good place to start). Android seems so vast at times that im unsure what to learn, where to start... Any advice? I'm pretty much noob status here... Thanks!

Welcome to XDA!
I would suggest to enter to your devices section and start reading in the DEV sections, over there you can learn the basics of how to install a new ROM to your mobile!
Sure you will find a lot of knowledge and nice people!
Enjoy your stay!
Welcome to XDA! More importantly Thanks for your military service!!

Hello and welcome aboard!
Hi Folks,
Just a quick hello and intro. I'm new to the forum and the development world. I am working a cool project that requires me to learn how to develop and modify applications on my old Android devices. I've got a couple of old Huawei P20 Pros that want to repurpose to become a dash for my motorcycle. The phone won't be the primary controller for the arduino computers on the bike but I want to use the touch screen for inputs when required.
Anyway, I am a complete newbie so the learning curve will be steep but hopefully fun. I hope by joinng this forum, I can learn a thing or two and maybe help others as I learn new things.
Thanks.
Charles.
