Yes, knowing roughly what brand of phone might help.

I find the motorolas to be the biggest pain to deal with, though for the amount of people who can't work out how to get here to xda-developers and ask me to unlock their XDA or pass them a copy of the unlock software I should start charging them for my time, I already point them to donate links for the software but for the amount of times they say " I thought it had finished so I unplugged the phone, now it doesn't work, can you look at it?" I should bill them for not following instructions lol.
Though if I do (I won't charge for the s/w etc) I will donate something for every phone I repair lol, since the s/w and advice I use for the HTC phones is invariably from here.
ok, my current/broken phone is the t-mobile dash and it desperately needs to be replaced and i am now willing to break from t-mobile and blackberry and venture into the world of unlocked phones.

luck!
Hi there,
First post so first up let me just say hey been lurking on here for awhile but never needed to post before! I seem to have had the worst luck ever, purchased two samsung phones first off a galaxy s2 off ebay which I was really looking forward to using and then an s8000 from cex which I wasn't looking forward to using so much. I've spent a lot of time unlocking and sim unlocking them only to find out they are both IMEI blocked, I've spent a lot of money on them and even when i've taken them into the operators they have been no help even going so far as suggesting I have stolen both of them. I don't really want to give up on either phone but spending £100 on a z3x box just for two phones is a bit much, so I wanted to know if there's anyone in london with a z3x box who would be willing to help me. I understand that it probably looks a bit dodgy asking on a new account like this but I can only assure you of my sincerity. I'll understand if no one is willing to help but if anyone is could they please get in touch with me.
Thanks for your time.
You need to get your money back from ebay and cex, shouldn't be a problem, always get imei no before buying, if they don't provide it, they are hiding something

Now Its my understanding that changing my IMEI number on my phone is so illegal that my grandchildren will serve part of my jail sentence..
I hard bricked my HTC ONE M7 and sent it to Mobile Tech Videos to be Jtag repaired. After about a month of hardly any communication and him finally saying that he revived my device but couldn't get it to unlock no matter what code was entered. I told him to send it back to me and I would figure something out.
Once I received my device back after a month I started doing some research and then ran a fastboot getvar all and noticed that my serial number was different and my IMEI number was different. Besides how upset I am about that my question is this..
How come its illegal for me to change my numbers but it seems when a Jtag service does it, that seems to be alright?
Now Im stuck with a device that is just as worthless as being hard bricked.
Wondering if I call ATT would they except my new numbers or just a waste of time?
Any thoughts?
It's not illegal to restore the original IMEI, as in a repair.
ATT won't help you with an unlock code for the new IMEI as they have no record of it.
Most likely you got a new motherboard. Also a few people reported unable to unlock after JTAG process. If your Imei is different, take a chance to get an unlock code
sent from my mobile device
My motherboard wasn't replaced as far as I know.
I played for a new unlock code but doesn't unlock my device.
My device won't even connect to the ATT network.
I've had a Samsung jtag repaired and everything worked great. I believe the connection problem is directly related to the shotty job done by the repair shop.

seems like your MB was replaced
The board was NOT replaced. Also, I'd stress here that you were actually refunded in full (not sure if that was ever mentioned). See the issue that causes this problem as I have outlined in some other threads below...
"We are continuing to dig for a solution but the issue is there is a unique identifier within the eMMC which is checked by the modem through amss.bin with an RSA certification. If this unique identifier is destroyed by user corruption (bricking the phone within that region) then there is currently no way to rebuild it. The most logical way to resolve this issue is to have a developer patch the modem/radio to bypass that check. It should be able to be done and is already being done on the N7100 and I9300 devices which were facing a similar issue...
-Josh"
Mobile Tech is well known and respected here. IF they said it cant be done and they did everything they could then you can trust that.
People need to understand that there is very real risk with what is done here. When you flash your device, you accept that you could brick the device and have to buy a new one. This is all part of game that we play. If you are not willing to accept that then dont mess around with a $600 dollar device.
Where do I start?

First of all I would like to make sure Josh (Mobile Tech Videos) and all the entourage are fully aware that Im not an idiot and I can clearly see whats going on here. If you want to continue on with the smoke and mirrors then that's fine we can play this game all year.
I was in fact refunded most of the charges but not all. And I was refunded by a "Paypal" screw up. So lets not get carried away with the sincerity of a half hearted %80 refund.
I dont care about the refund lets get that straight! From a business standpoint sending my phone to get fixed cost me a lot of money in a week but a month I could have bought a new one. I was told 3 days it took 5 weeks and still no phone or resolution. I have heard "Bad Brick" "Your Brick" "Unusually Bad Brick" and my favorite "Your unusual Brick". All these terms are usually defined as Hard Brick. I only sent my device to Mobile Tech to transfer liability of getting the shell opened. I paid for express service then a week later I get a call asking permission to take my device apart. Now... Im not familiar with an HTC One m7 Jtag procedure at all really but especially one through the micro port.
I tried to be patient and wasn't surprised that problems arose. I understand that somethings just cant be fixed but I have tried to communicate with Josh (the staff at Mobile Tech Videos) for over a month then finally i get a message apologizing for the delay and communications problems.
I would like someone to explain to me how all the "Bricked" terms differ please.. And im talking about Dead no response NOT SOFT Brick. My point is dont say you can fix something that you cant fix and if your experimenting with my device I dont care just let me know.
zelendel Must be affiliated with mobile tech or just enjoys swinging from his nuts.. Thanks for the PSA but I think everyone who flashes anything is fully aware of the dangers by the time they get to that point. I dont think anyone accidentally unlocks, roots, installs recovery, downloads the rom they want, and then wonders how they got there or if they can just hit the back button..
I can clearly see that the wide net of "I can fix any device or brick" needs to be reeled in. I will be posting all the posts and transcripts if I need to. I was told by Josh (the entire staff at mobile tech videos) quote "I have not been able to find a solution for this unusual problem and not fix is currently available" So I try and find a solution and all the sudden Im looking down the barrel of mobile tech riff with all the xda troll pose ready to blast me with a fart gun!
Yes thats what I think of the piss poor way this whole transaction as went down and gotten out of control. I would have never sent my device to mobile tech but the professionals didn't seem to have pinouts yet but somehow Josh did. Or did he??? RIP HTC M7

I'm not affiliated with anyone, but this is not the place to sort out issues you have with a repairer.
Thread closed,
If you have an issue with a repair please take it up with the company that repaired the phone. XDA is not really the place for this and this thread is classed as an off-topic thread.

I had spent two years trying to find and buy one of these G800M models to use in the US only to have the radios die on me and not let data/wifi/gps/bluetooth to work. Im trying to pick up another one or even a motherboard to swap into it. I am dail driving an s4 mini and have been for roughly 5 years now and need more devices to keep me from getting bored.
If anyone knows where to buy them used online besides the mercadolibre site I would gladly appreciate it.
