Hi all,
After I did the ROM upgrade to the official HTC WM6, everything works fine, well apart from the GPS, which I never managed to get it working and the icon that I should get when I have a voicemail. Now I get a text message with this "[email protected]" characters? Any ideas.
Thanks in advance.

I got the same problem..
the mobile however should still be able to recognize it as a voice mail message. You just get an extra messages in your SMS messages folder
A kludge that works for me:
create a contact with the mobile number of "[email protected]" (just save it to your contacts) with a name like "Voice mail Notification"
install wm6_threader (find on this forum) and it will create a thread per contact!!
works better than original.. why? cause you have history similar to
incoming calls
outgoing calls
missed calls
but for SMS.
In Canada at Rogers Wireless we get additional SMS messages for missed calls when our mobiles are off.
I called it "Operator Notifications"
I also use it for SMS sent from Microsoft, Google and Yahoo. One per website.
The attached cab fixed it for me a while ago.
Not sure whether you need to install the sdkcerts before or not, so I include them just in case.
Reboot after installing.
The voicemail fix is included within rabdo's 1.6 cab for Orange UK network setup. (Also includes the necessary certs).
If you are on Orange UK, I recommend that (I use it with every flash....)

Anyone else have a problem where they send a message to someone and then the person you sent it to, end up receiving 2 instead? It seems to be all the time. Any ideas? Im with O2 in the UK. Also the annoying LED's on the unit. Sometimes when i do the reg fix it works fine, other times after a h/reset and reg fix applied, the light starts again about 10 mins later, and it seems impossible to stop it......

Ignore this one, turns out after a little research, if you use SPB Pocket plus close button feature, you have to make an exception for tmail.exe
heres a fix
When an sms is compsed there is an option in the sms settings that will allow you to tick “Use Unicode when necessary” if this option is ticked what will happen either your sms will be sent twice
(for the people who really want know what Unicode is, its software that allows software to see foreign charcthers, such as chines Koren. More info at http://www.unicode.org/)
So just untick the option will resolve the problem. When this option is ticked instead of your charcherts size being the 160 it is dropped to 70 charcheres so as soon as you go over the 70 mark its 2 sms.
To fix this you go from the front of your device
Click on start, then down to messaging.
Tap on accounts in the tab below and then select accounts from the list.
Now tap on tex messages
Now just click Unicode off.
AND there we have it.
Actually, Using the option Unicode when necessary uses Unicode formatting ONLY when a Unicode character is found in the message.
I always put this option on, and when my message contains any Unicode character, it converts the whole message into Unicode (hence the message size will be a multiples of 70 chars and not 160). But if your message is pure ANSI characters (all English) then it will be send as it without using Unicode encoding (160 chars).
RZZKT slaam walicum, bud or just plain hello,
i see your point, only thing is here in the UK when we send an sms it goes through spefic sms centre's on the mobile networks then gets routed through various sms gateways etc etc what happens on the Vodafone network and on orange is when you compose a sms say just right TEST if the unicode option is ticked on then the sms when routed will be sent 2ice, on vodafone iv tracked the process for the sms and we can see whats called sms refernce number and if a phone is sending multipull sms the refernce number will be the same, but from my device(spv m2000-unlocked and office qteck9090) the sms refernce number stays the same so the networjk does not belive its a multipull sms but instead it treats it as the device is sending 2 seperate sms's--even when the tracking info time tag shows id time frame i.e sms 1 19:00:16secs sms 2 19:00:16secs.
As i work for Vodafone i can track the sms traffic on our system but its the same situation with the orange network when i have my orange sim in the spv.
Just the way our networks work im afraid. As for the above poor chapy, its going to either be what we are discussing or issue issue with his device(which may be more probable orrrrrrr issue with o2)
never mind wish him all the best!
N2h, wa'alaykom assalam
Ohh i see! thats why its not happening here with me.
We have something called SMS Center, we just put this center's number in the SMS message settings.
Its nice to work in Vodafone... guess you have unlimited phone calls 8)
Lucky you
I decided to post this in a new thread. Sorry if it was the wrong thing to do.
I installed some of the cabs found here, specifically the HTC plugins
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655
After performing the mods, the call history is not logging any calls to/from people that are in my fave 5 anymore. So I thought maybe the actual My Fav 5 program is logging the calls now, but no, it's not.
Anyone else experiencing this? The today screen plugin for missed calls does not increment by one when i have a missed call from someone in my fave 5, the call history does not log any of my fave 5 calls, and the My Faves program does not log them anymore either.
Any have any suggestions? What could have caused this problem? One of the HTC cabs I installed maybe?
Thank you in advance!

I'm really stumped here. This is my last try to bump the thread up in hopes that someone has answer.

hmm? My MyFaves is setup correctly. The problem is that my phone doesn't report/log any calls that are to or from people in my My Faves list. It reports/logs all other calls though.
I guess since all calls to myfaves people are free ... the phone doesn't register the calls or minutes used to those people so they aren't accounted for in any type of logs.
if you're running a custom rom, they wont be accounted for through any type on log on your phone
only way to track is through my-tmobile.com
I'm not running a custom ROM, just the HTC cabs and the pagepool hack.
It's disappointing because I don't know when someone from my My Fave 5 called me. It doesn't report it as a missed call! I'm not really trying to track the calls, I just want to be notified when I have a missed call.

I have the exact same problem. I have installed the same things. NOTHING in the call history involving anyone on fave 5. A fix for this would be huge for me. If anyone in my fav 5 calls and doesn't leave a message, it never tells me I have a missed call, and it never shows in the history. VERY frustrating.

Yeah that's the problem! I can't even find the calls from within the actual My Fav Program. The only thing listed in the log section are the text messages.
Something happened and we could really use a fix!
I got somewhere... someone sent me a private message and explained that they removed the "+" sign from the contacts.
Well I've tried to remove the country code, the plus sign, and tried formatting the number is different ways. So far I have gotten the outgoing calls to be logged, but if you call the person using the htc favorite people plugin or the contact manager. Outgoing calls are still not logged when calling via the myfave program.
I keep trying different things. Would someone mind sharing the format of the numbers in their contact manager and then also the format of the numbers in the myfave program? Thanks
I just edited the my favs contact number directly from the contact program (not the my favs program) with ####### no spaces, it automatically reformatted it to (xxx)xxx-xxxx, and it logs both incoming and outgoing calls fine from the 5 tab favorite contact screen. I don't have touch flo installed just have the regular interface skinned with the 5 tab, Pocket CM contact list, the htc dialpad, and the htc new default theme. It took me a few mins just messing with the contact number to get it working, but once it works, it works.

Ok..it seems to log outgoing calls that way....but no luck on incoming, what about missed calls? I seem to only have luck on it working when I dial them.
Also, when they call, their number shows up with their name and the "1(xxx)...." before it, even though the "1" isn't in the number in contacts. That probably has something to do with it...but I can't seem to fix that.
After editing them from my contacts, I still see they have the +1 in myfaves, which also seems to be having an effect.
For anyone that might know...
Is there a way I could just remove the myfaves application, which is probably a main cause of it not working right? I can just call them from my contacts or the home page contacts, which works for me if it means missed calls will show. So is it possible to just remove the application altogether? I assume it would still work because I could still access the numbers (and change them if necessary) online.
Welllllllllllllll.......
I went back, hard reset my wing, installed the stock t-mobile RUU. I then added things back one by one figuring I'd figure out which thing was causing my problem. It seems the pagepool is causing SOME problem (it doesn't NOTIFY me when I miss a call), but now even with everything I previously had installed, all calls show up in call history. I don't mind that it's not notifying me, as long as I can do a quick click into call history and see if I missed anything, so all is well now, I guess. I added my home phone # into my fav 5 (since I had an empty spot open anyway) and tested with that, calling back and forth over and over...it all seems to work fine. I'll be 100% sure when my gf or one of my friends calls me tomorrow, but it looks like I fixed it for now.
Start > Programs > myFaves > Menu > myFaves Settings > Refresh myFaves
If that doesn't solve your problems, log in to your My T-mobile account on the web and at least make sure you aren't getting charged regular minutes for your faves.
Oh, now I understand. Check out this:

will this ever be possible to be done with software on out phones? Or is it something ATT does on their end just for the iphones? I saw a screen shot of it and thought it would be awesome to have it for the Tilt like that.

callwave.com is similar. almost all the features, plus a couple more and "Virtual Voicemail". I've been using it for 6 weeks now. Its pretty good.
i will check it out, is it a monthly fee or onetime software buy?
I use callwave as well. You can set it to send you a text message with a translation of the voice mail. Also I have it send me email which gets pushed to my phone; the email contains the text translation as well as the wav file of the message.
It's free for now. It is in "beta". I have little doubt that eventually google will gobble this one up like it did with GrandCentral and that'll be good.
callwave is free right now, and it is superior to visual voice mail in a couple key areas (translation of voice to text being the biggest) the ownly downside is that you don't have a cute visual display to delete/listen to vm, but you can access it through the web, I have my login page bookmarked on my phone.

That's a pretty damn big downside as far as I'm concerned. I want voicemail as voicemail, not email or sms. When they work out a PPC frontend, they'll have a lot more customers.
I wanted that too so, I did this:
1) I got a FREE GrandCentral.com account
2) I bought a copy of MagiCall (SMS Filter)
3) I set GrandCentral to forward all inbound calls to voicemail and then notify via SMS my cellphone when a new message arrives
4) I set my phone's voicemail number to be my GrandCentral number
5) I logged onto GrandCentral on my PIE and made a favorite to that site and then using file explorer copied the shortcut from my favorites folder to my programs folder in the windows directory
6) I created a MagiCall rule that checked SMS messages as they arrived, if they came from grandcentral, they were suppressed from notification, deleted from my phone, and then MagiCall is to launch my m.grandcentral.com favorite.
The net result is:
I receive a phone call, my phone forwards unanswered calls to GrandCentral, GrandCentral takes a message, GrandCentral sends an SMS message to my phone, my phone activates the rule, deletes the message and then opens the GrandCentral Mobile page.
Of course you need a data connection (just like iphone) but I have the option to get my messages either via my phone's page, email (forwarded to my companies email), or dial into my grandcentral phone number to retrieve my messages.
:-D my cost $25 bux for MagiCall .
It works well. If you can't figure out how to setup the Magicall script then don't ask me.

i just saw this post and signed up. This is very nice. my only concern is how much it will cost when beta is done. but i love the way this works. no more annoying ass vmail sign at the top of my screen!
I also signed up for callwave, seems pretty nice. Just wish i could change the email format from HTML to text now, just annoying to scroll through the message lol.
I use simulscribe both on my Blackberry and Tilt
Voice mails show up as mp3 files on the device, which you can play..foward ..rewind to your pleasure
Been working great for the past few months
Wow I signed up for this an its awesome.
Seriously.. it sends a text to me with the voicemail transcribed. It even spelled my name right!
Now, can i get it to recognize who the text is comming from instead of 1010100003? If I could get that to read "Voicemail" that would be awesome.

I essentially tried exactly what you did but instead of GrandCentral, I tried it with Callwave (can't get a GrandCentral account ). It works great up until I get to my callwave homepage. The listen to voicemail button doesn't come up. It's a flash app so installed Flash but it still won't come up.
Anyone else know of any free services other than callwave and grandcentral? does anyone know how I can get a Grand Central account?

I'll send you an invite to Grandcentral if you PM me your email.
youmail.com - by far the best for vmail as email attachments.
www.youmail.com
i've been using them for awhile now... It's free... all you do is sign up for an account and change your "voicemail" number to their number... which means it's 100% reversible.
From the account settings on the website... I turn off text message notifier and have voicemails sent to my gmail account as an mp3 attachment. This with push email delivers voicemail immediately to my phone.
Why it's better than grandcentral (which I also have and use for other things... love that service)... I do not have to log in through pie to get my voicemails... they are mp3 or wav attachments in pocket outlook inbox... that .. and all my voicemails are stored in my gmail account...
Just my .02 cents... but this is easily the best solution for voicemail... no more vmail notifications on the phone either... (I HATE THAT LITTLE SYMBOL).
Mark
How big are the .mp3 files? Just looking at data usage, and how long they will take to download!
I've been trying out Callwave but seems to me their voice recognition software is lacking. Very frequently they mess up on the "gist" of the message.
Saint - PM sent, Thanks!
Caswell - thanks for the heads up. I set up an account Lovin' it so far.
when I try to loing to callwave, I cant get past the submit button.. PIE just does nothing when I clcik the submit button. Callwave says that it is a javascript issue. How to I install javascript for wm6?

Wow, all that and it still doesn't quite work like visual voice mail. Makes you appreciate how well Apple did with simplifying the whole delivery of this although it is probably why they require the data plan with the iPhone. I don't know it is worth $20 per month for this alone though. Sure, my wife occasionally uses Google Maps or Safari over Edge, but could easily live with the WiFi connction only.
At any rate, I'd say in 5 years time, all voice mail will have this visual component and be available form both your handheld, and the web.
Callwave
Seems that Callwave is now out of beta and charging a pretty penny for monthly or annual usage. Oh well.
hi
i have the rom just2clean i unlocked my wing and i use it with AT&T. with that company when you send or receive a text message it shows you a notification on the screen that tells you your actual balance. the problem is that sometimes people send me a text, i get the notification but i dont get the sms. why do that happen?
before i changed the rom i did a pim backup with resco backup, but when i do the recovery procces only the contacts appear, the sms function in the phone stops working. how can i make a backup of the contacts and text messages and change my rom and get them again?
thank you
what everyone is using when mms isnt working is "arcsoft mms composer " find the cab.file and it should be you fix. it think it is in one of these threads.
ok
i was asking for regular texts not mms but thank you anyway
Hi,
I'm running Kangkat and recently ported to Lyca Mobile (MVNO for T-Mobile here in the USA).
I can make/receive calls and access internet but no SMS in or out and no error messages.
Lycamobile gave me a message sender# which needs to go into the phone, but I don't see where to put that setting.
I think it may be one of the settings where you have to dial something on the keypad to get into the secret settings but don't know how to do that. Any suggestions?
Thanks much!
Mark
