Bluetooth sharing - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I don't know if i'm missing something here, but the bluetooth manager folder in file explorer seems useless. It never finds any of my devices and i have no idea why. It says searching but can't find anything. It can't find my 8525 when it' on and visible. Does the 8525 have to have this for it to work? If not, how can i get it working? Thanks

I had problems with this too, couldn't find the receiver device when trying to send a file.
This worked for me:
You have to do kinda "shake hands" of the devices the first time.
Goto Start menu -> settings -> connections -> bluetooth -> devices -> add new device
(could be named a little bit different, I translated from my german device)
You will be asked for a password. I normally use 0000 (standard BT password), even if it's not the savest way I think
The other device will recognize this and also askes for the password.
Once the device is mentioned in the devices list, sending and receiving to/from it will be possible.
I hope this was what you asked for.
Greetz,
Hans Olo

My problem
I have done the whole pairing thing but when i do the discover services it say no services found and it's not connected please advise

u need to go in the BT configuration and under FTP tab check the Enable File Sharing.
For some reason or maybe for me only, this settings does not stick, and I have to do it anytime I want to exchange files. But once I tick the box, I am able to transfer files, contacts and such.
On the same FTP page you can choose to activate the BT explorer. This will browse other BT enabled phones ?! I guess. More like BT jacking?!

is there a cab for the BT Explorer as it is not cooked into the rom I have ??

OBEX on Tilt?

Does the tilt support OBEX file transfer and push service for bluetooth? I know about the reg setting (..Microsoft/Obex/IsEnabled to 1) but it doesnt seem to be working. I also found a cab in one of the other forums (i cant find a link right now to show) and it seemed to help a little but i still get a lot of errors when i try to connect using Bluezard, saying things like There was an error in the OBEX service and that it cant find the OBEX Push service.
Is there a fix or is it just something i did to screw myself over?
Alright, screw it, ill just not mess with bluetooth as its obvious no one has ever had this problem...
Yes,
The Tilt does support OBEX on an official ROM, used it quite extensively. However, can't seem to find a OBEX package to cook a ROM cuz there's lots of variables to it.
Im using the standard tilt rom but i still have not been able to get bluetooth to really work. I found i thread with my same problem, but no real answer.
I can receive bluetooth files fine, but i cant send them. If i select beam it will just pop up, ill click the name, "Pending..." > "Sending 1/1" > "Failed".
before its suggested. I have Receive all incoming beams selected.
I have enable file share (Bluetooth FTP tab) selected.
I have my devise visable and discoverable.
i have changed the registry of Obex "IsEnabled" to "1"
also i think i MAY have found the possible culprit. in one of the bluetooth fix cabs i have downloaded. it modifies part of the registry to this:
Under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex\Services\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
It changes "Server" to the value "obexinbx.dll", but that file is not in my windows folder. is there a place i could get that DLL? (this is not the same as obexfile.dll right? because i have that...).
you can just use the advanced configuration cab and you can enable OBEX

Can you use Tilt (8925) as wireless modem via Bluetooth?

I cannot seem to figure out how to use my new 8925 as a wireless modem via Bluetooth as I had my 8525.
Via USB it seems to work but I have not had any luck with Bluetooth and of course the AT&T Tech support has no idea.

1, welcome to xda-devs
2, read the Internet Sharing + PAN BT client tutorials. There're several of them - Google for them.
I have solved my own problem. Duno if anyone else has the same issue.
Seems the tilt just comes missing the shortcut to the internet sharing.
If you want Internet Sharing via Bluetooth do the following steps
1- Open File Explorer
2- go to the "\Device\Windows" Folder
3- Touch and Hold on "Internet Sharing" and select COPY
4- Go to "\Device\Windows\StartMenu\Programs" and Touch and Hold and select PASTE
5- Restart Device
6- Enjoy!
you didnt have to copy the whole program, could have just made a shortcut to it.
you should also take a look at wmwifirouter
my XP desktop can't net share via bluetooth either but if i use USB my tilt shares just fine.
couldn't find anything helpful in the guides, just lots of references to the toshiba stack
Just like a any BT accessory, you must make your phone visible & pair it.
If you have a WiFi card on your laptop, try using WMWiFiRouter instead. It has been discussed many times in this forum.

The file "Internet Sharing" was a link, the exe was something along the lines of intshar.exe or something. If you COPY instead of COPY SHORTCUT than your link wont have a pretty icon (its only 26byte file)
btw. wmwifirouter looked kool

Bluetooth OBEX

Hello,
I try to send files via bluetooth to a C500 or other phones but each time i have an Error message from Obex : "Cannot connect to the Obex device. It is either not accessible or does not support selected device". I have disabled Obex in Resco explorer and i have put the value to 0 in the registry (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled) but it did not change anything.
Does anybody know how i can doto be able to send and recieve files from everybody ?
Thank you, and have a good day.
MA
Please, tell me if i am alone to have this kind of probleme, are you able to send files with all other phones ?
I can see that nobody use his bluetooth.
Thank you
I have no problem at all.
1. Add new device, in bluetooth settings.
2. Click FTP tab and make sure "enable file sharing" is checked
3. Beam the file you want. After you are paired.
Thants what I do and have always done, and it works fine for me.
EDIT* Make sure the other device has filesharing permissions set. I.E. allow file transfers. Not enabling this on the recieving device will throw that error.
Hey, just seeing if it worked for ya. Let me know
you're supposed to put 1 for IsEnabled

[PROB] Bluetooth Explorer

I cant gett bluetooth explorer to work.
Whenever i tick the check box to enable bluetooth explorer in settings, once i click ok it does not save it and the box is unticked when i open up bluetooth settings again.
Anyone else have this problem?
Any ideas?
Same issue...
I had no issues when I was using WinXP and a Tilt, I could just pair the laptop and Tilt and transfer files back and forth.
I am now on a new Dell laptop w/ Vista (and Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth module) and after pairing w/ my Fuze, I cannot transfer files in either direction.
Any thoughts????
is this different then just using bluetooth windows mobile device center? i can transfer files back and forth doing that

Hi, I have your exact same setup and just got BT exporer working.
Things to check are:
1. go to settings under "communications manager " and select Bluetooth
2. add your laptop as new device
3. under mode, make sure "make this device visible.." is checked
4, under FTP, make sure "enable BT explorer" and "enable file sharing" are checked.
On your laptop I used the "Bluetooth Information Exchanger\File Transfer\Shared Folder" to transfer files and I got it to work.
It isn't easy to setup but it does work.
Cheers,
Connor
Thanks connorxda
It seems to work now after trying the method you posted
Thanks

Now the Problem just happen to hit me when my bluetooth explorer wasn't working on my Touch pro. From the stock rom it worked fine, then I applied some tweaks, and it stopped.. So I starting searching.. I have came up with no Fixes, so I was retracing my steps..
What had happened was I had set my File System Cache to 131072 from the registry. I never noticed it, till I fired up Advanced Config, and Noticed that when I clicked on the list of sizes, 8M was the higest, I thought that was strange, so I set it to 8M in advanced config, Soft Reset, and now my Bluetooth Explorer is working just fine..
So, recap..
Make sure your FILE SYSTEM CACHE is set to 8M Or just not some Huge Number, My FILE SYSTEM FILTER CACHE IS SET TO 131072
Notice where I got the mixup I set the wrong values.. Hope this can help some people out..
For those who don't know what the Bluetooth Explorer is, Its quite simple, You need to enable FTP Sharing on your Device such as your computer.. Then open the FTP Explorer on your phone, it will list the bluetooth devices it finds, once it does click the device, and walla all the files that are on the device(computer) folder you setup now show on your phone..
If anyone has any questions about this or needs help fixing it, just PM me.

Lets say you got your Phone and Computer
You can Move files from a Folder on your Computer to your Phone from Bluetooth Explorer (You setup your Bluetooth folder on your computer)
and Vice Versa for your Phone
You can Move files from your Phone from your Computer
You just have to go to Settings / Bluetooth / FTP then tick the box that says Share Folder and set the Folder you want the other device to be able to pull files from..
Very Nice Program to use.. Good Job HTC

Phone to Phone also, as long as the Phone supports the FTP Profile.. Any Bluetooth device that supports the FTP profile will work..

Holy christ you are a genius buddy!! lol, this been buggin me FOREVER!! lol, apparently when you install "Advanced Config" it automatically has it set as some High number, so when you hit "ok" to exit out of it the first time, your cache gets set to that high number >.>
Anyways, Thanks Again!!!
