Testing New tool BA Rom Editor

Hi I am testing the new BA Rom ediitor tool and need some help with a few issues.
1) Can you all have a look at the wiki list of shipped roms and post which type they are.
A Type I rom is a rom that worked with the old xda3nbftool.exe tool
A Type II is a rom that cames up with a wrong header message when using the xda3nbftool.exe tool

The format is:
I-Mate WWE 1.22.00 1.22.162 1.06.00 Type X
2) I am now flashing the
WWE Versions With Arabic Customizing
I-Mate WWE 1.31.00 1.31.122 1.06.00 Type I
After I flash this rom it asks me to setup the carrier, I have tried 2 and get on both a IMAGNET .... Was not installed sucessfully message
Is this normal for that rom when installed using the old tool? As in who can remember what happened on with that rom?

Updated wiki, added a new column called : Type (xda3nbftool).
I have filled in the ones I played with, the rest, I don't know, although I suspect the QTEK 9090 1.69 ROM is type 2...

Moving on, and thanks for all the info about the type II roms which I must have missed.
Ok lets try another approach.
The new tool allowes you to create a ms_.nbf (That the Extended Rom) out of a list of cabs, the config.txt and Autorun.exe.
You can open both a type I and type II exteneded Rom,
export the files and import the ones that you want.
This you can save as a Type I nbf and run the upgrade to flash your device.
This is were you could help or is it I could help you, either way I don't mind.
I need.
A rar or zip file of the content that you would like to have in your exteneded rom.
I will not check to see if this makes sense nor will I check to see if the cabs are mission imposible or need input.
I will create a ms_.nbf with your opperator ID in the header.
I will add 2 splash screens of your choice that have been saved by you in bmp format.
I will upload this file and the needed install files to the ftp site for you to flash.
I have tested this with the files out of

On a Shipped GER MDA III in WWE and it works fine

I have not been able to test the T-mobile Ger Type II roms as this is my device and operator (the ship.exe will always work for me).
So pick a rom, post the version as well clear text of devicedata.txt. I will make a custom ship.exe and pm the link

Thanks for wanting to test a UNTESTED ROM.
Check your pm for link of your custom ship.exe made by new tool.
Download, unrar, connect device, check that activesync is up,
run BaUpgradeUt.exe as is (no fix no nothing).
Check to see if all works
Then Del the Ms and nk nbf
copy the Radio.Nbf from the Radio 1.12 folder into update folder
Rerun BaUpgradeUt.exe
Check to see if all works
Please post your results

GPS ROM Upgd. WithOUT language change??

I downloaded a few days ago a GPS enabled Radio ROM. I suppose it should be able to upgrade to GPS ROM just by changing the RADIO ROM.
Could it be done with the OFFICIAL Dopod ROM now available?
Would it work just by removing the non-RADIO files from the temp directory?
My goal is to KEEP my Trinity language unchanged, just enable the GPS functionality.
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, have kind of like the same question... I've seen many update threads, but this is a very populare topic, so the threads are a bit hard to go through if you havn't followed them from day one...
so, question is as follows:
How to upgrade a Trinity and enabling the GPS without loosing your existing OS/language... A step by step guide for dummies like me would be _very_ helpfull, or just point me to the thread with the solution, that would also do the trick

@neofix: That is exactly what I am looking for, too. I would like to have the official dopod ROM update with all the features like GPS and so on but I would like to have my own language on the phone. It is currently really difficult to keep track with all the posts regarding the gps ROM. I am lost, please somebody help me out of this.

If you have your .cab with your default language (it is before the dopod update in the extended_rom) maybe i can help you.

I did upgrade from my german ROM to the dopod one already but i want to have the GPS in a german Rom. is that possible?

I say up i nead the cabs in the extended_rom before the update.
To do something.
If you whant you can download the german rom and flash it in your trinity and after speak to me to tell you what.....
After will take the interesting think you can flash again the gps dopod rom.
EDIT: IF THE ROM IS BY DEFAULT GERMAN I CANT DO ANYTHING. BUT IF IS IN ENG AND AFTER THE FLASH ADD THE LANGUAGE MAYBE I CAN HELP YOU.

flashed it just now and found the following files in the EXTROM pp_defaultpage_wwe.cab, pp_extversion.cab, MP_CVSDcpl_20060920.cab and a textfile named config.
It did not ask me to change my language or anything like that

So your lang is default with out any cab install after the flash.
You can't do anything.

Nonono there must be a way. There must be any kind of file or data which tells the device to write "Kontakte" instead of "Contacts". Maybe we have to change it manually.
Does anybody know something about such a file, such data on the phone?

Look the translate is mui's files in the windows folder.
The mui file has the translated word's of the original dll's or exe's.
If your original dll's or exe's in the windows folder is german,
how you can take it out and after the dopod update add buck in the windows folder??.
You can't cause rom permision's.
If you whant you can find another away maybe a program to translate the win ce to your language.
search for that.

I have the cabs in my ext-rom, since I did not update yet.

A better solution could be to let the original ROM installed and flash only the Radio ROM from the GPS enabled DOPOD ROM.
I do not know if this will work and if the original ROM "know" how to communicate with the GPS radio version - perhaps POF can give us the answer.
If there is no risk to flash the differnet radio ROM i will try it soon.
To get the radio ROM (Info from POF):
Use NBHExtract to extract GSM.nb from full rom, then use NBHgen to make NBH with radio only. Flash using SSPL-Trin.

Hi, flashing only the radio rom is not sufficient for the gps to work , we also need the driver in OS.nb
but from what i've read, for the moment it's not possible to edit the OS

It is look so simple to tell me the name's of the cab's included in your extended_rom.
After chek the name's of your's cab's and see if a language cab is there,i ask you to send me the cab and i will do my trick.
So the simple think is to tell me the name's of your cab's.

IMHO this is exactly THE OPPOSITE to what we a are looking for....
It says explicitly that NO ENGLISH ROMS are supported.... so no GPS ROM is supported either.
It might well be a way to investigate, but is not a solution now :-(

Working on a german ROM with GPS - Progress

Hey all,
I just wanted to let you know that I am working on a german ROM with GPS support.
Thanks to the wonderfull SN from http://www.go-opensource.de , I now have the romdump of a Vodaphone VPA compact GPS (aka Trinity). The ROM version is 1.23.162.2.
Because I believe one should always share, I have uploaded it to the FTP. While I am planning to make a flashable ROM out of it myself, I don't mind if someone else beats me to it (lvsw maybe?).
I am new to the scene so I'll have to read up on a lot of stuff before I'll risk my P3600. So don't expect any public usable stuff in the next few days while I figure this out.
Thanks again to SN, if you're german and waiting for the ROM, check his site in the meantime and maybe click some ads. Without him, this wouldn't be possible!

1) Now, you should use aChef tools (+buildimgfs.exe) to insert files from dump folder to some trin's nb (no matter from wht ROM).
2) Check this new OS.nb with OSChecker by Olipro. If it is valid you will have no risk for flash.
4) Flash this rom
5) Have fun

But the nb I use should be bigger then my part02.raw, right?
The only one I extracted so far is smaller. Looking for a bigger one now.

Looks like I've done it! I just flashed it and it WORKS!
Now I'll need to clean it up a little, bundle it with a GPS rom and we're good to go. So awesome!

the reconstructed rom dump - will need hardspl to flash.

why do you need it, as a backup rom when hardspl comes out?

I want to extract some things from a french rom.
I have a german phone and an english rom now with success installed (thanks QMAT).
I have many registry values modified (keyboard, regional settings, ...) and have now a french windows mobile but the included software not.

I have a french unbranded TP2. I will try to dump the rom as soon as possible this week end. Tell me if you find what you want before I start .

Cooking on stock ROM?

I'm interested in starting to cook, but as far as I know I need to have a stock ROM. Is this true, and if it is, why cant I cook on already cooked ROMs?
Where do I find stock ROMs? I want a swedish one, any 6.5-version and an english one, 6.5.5.
I have downloaded a swedish stock ROM from htc.com but that one is a .exe and I assume I need .nbh. Can I convert it?

You don't have to have a stock ROM but in some cases, it does help make it easier if you have one for your device.
You can open the .exe file with winrar and extract the files. The .nbh file should be in there.
Also, one of the new Kitchens I think will open up the .exe file and extract what it needs. Look through this Kitchen thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948

I'm using that kitchen and when I try to open the few cooked ROMs I already have I get this message: "Can't extract files or build packages from IMGFS structure. Please make sure the ROM is not corrupted and that it's an original ROM update released by the manufacturer."
WinRAR worked. Thanks. Now I need to find an english 6.5.5 whick can be opened in osKitchen.

You will not be able to dump most cooked ROM because of the way that the Kitchen put them together originally.
You should be able to download a source from the first post of that thread, and they have some updated system packages as well like 23541. You can also find the EXT packages there as well.

Ok, I dont know if this cooking stuff really is for me. I dont understand what I'm doing. I managed to strip all HTC stuff from the stock ROM (a bit too much, a few things doesnt work) but that's pretty much it.
Maybe I'm trying to do stuff that cant be done.
My main goal is to get a clean WM 6.5.3/6.5.5 swedish ROM.
Should I get an english 6.5.3/6.5.5 ROM and change the language to swedish or get a swedish 6.5 ROM and upgrade it to 6.5.3/6.5.5 or do I have to find a swedish ROM which already is 6.5.3/6.5.5?

After you have dumped the Stock, you have the drivers, then go to the link and download a build, copy this into the folder sources, so OEM into OEM, sys into sys ETC... then launch the kitchen, select build and language. DO NOT DISABLE ANYTHING IN OEM AND BE CAREFUL WITH SYS!!! disable everything in EXT and you have a clean ROM

It worked! Not a very good ROM yet, but it starts at least

I've tried to change the welcome screen in the tweak settings but I cant see any difference. Where is that supposed to show?
And what is the difference between splash screen and welcome screen?
