Leather Pouches without Magnetic Flaps - myTouch 3G, Magic Accessories

Hey Guys,
Anyone know anywhere that sells leather holsters (the kinds that clip to your belt) that don't use magnetic flaps? I'm kinda paranoid about magnets and damaging the phone.

There is nothing inside the phone that would be damaged by a magnet unless the magnet is thousands of times stronger than the ones used in the pouches. There is no reason to be paranoid about it.

I thought that magnets could screw up the compass on the phone.

I've been using a magnetic-clasp leather holster since I got the phone in November with no issues.

wear and tear?

Does taking in and out wear off the plastic or whatever it call on the main case? i am using clear silicon type which sometime i need to take it off to replace my batt. and found out the side of the device had some wear off. any 1 encounter this ? thanks

Yes, the paint in various parts is tearing off on mine. Only build problem I've seen so far.
I'm surprised a silicon case would damage the finish, they're generally quite soft...
But yeah, I'm using one of those "rubberised hard cases" and its taking off the finish, was doing so within about a week...can only get worse...
I have a leather case with a plastic internal clip in section, fits great but is also removing the rubbery coating at the corners! What a crap design to cover it with this stuff, why not just texturise the plastic case?
I've purchased the HTC PO511 leather case with flip off screen protection and it fits perfectly! also the internal plastic clip is covered with microfibre cloth so it completely protects my HD2 from scratches. This case is something I would recommend to everyone who hates to get the HD2 out of the leather pocket everytime you wanna play with it.
How easy are these silicone cases to take on/off? I'm thinking of getting one, as I'm butter-fingered and drop my phone a lot, but I also find myself having to take the back cover off the phone, to get at the battery / SD card etc, and couldn't be doing with it being a bugger to get off.

E-Cell Luxury Protective Leather Case [BAD Magnet]

Well after a good review by another user here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892017
I decided to buy the brown one last week, I had it this morning and tried it immediately. The case looks professional and feels nice to the touch. I thought the only complain I have is that it has no ridge on the inner side of the flap to stop the Nexus from sliding front/back when positioned in landscape mode.
But I discovered a flaw that plagued the earlier Poetic and other similar cases from amazon, in that the magnet is so strong, it put the device in standby mode when folding the front flap all the way to the back.
Watch th video here:
That's strange, my case does not do that? I can upload a video if you want?
I don't know...it's a shame as the case is really lovely but that's the first thing I noticed after I put my nexus on the case. Please do try it with yours.

I tried it earlier and I could not get it to turn the screen off, I was mimicking what you were doing. Maybe ask the seller and see if they can send you a replacement?

cheers, will contact them about it.
im getting a refund for the case and I get to keep it too. I have compared the magnet location on this case and it is a little lower than the magnets on the other cases that I already have. tried relocating the magnet but it still has the same issue so my guess is the magnet is quite strong.

Ah that's good. I guess my case's magnet must be in a different location to yours as it works fine on mine.
Obviously nobody should have to modify a case they bought advertised with a smart function to get it to work the way it's supposed to, but for anyone dealing with a case that shuts the screen off if the front flap is folded all the way back because the magnet is too strong, I have a quick/cheap/easy solution if you don't want to mess with returns/replacements:
You can tape a little piece of metal between the case and the back of the Nexus in the same area as the magnet. This should stop the magnet from turning the screen off when the flap is all the way open and touching the back of the case.
I did this for my ASUS travel case. I taped a magnet to the front flap so I could use it as a smart case, but the magnet was too strong and kept turning the screen off when folded back. I added the little piece of metal and now it works perfectly. For the metal I just I cut a small square out of a tin can lid a little larger than the size of the magnet I was using. I just used a tin can because it was the nearest piece of thin metal I had, but anything small and thin enough that the tablet will still fit in the case while sitting on it will work. The tape will keep the metal in place and protect the back of the Nexus 7 from scratches. Haven't had a problem yet. It's not the most polished looking solution in the world, but you can't even tell it's there unless I remove the Nexus from the case. Just throwing it out there for anyone having magnet issues.

Cheers, I alreay tried a few sheets of aluminum foil, but it did not help, and
the Nexus did not fit snugly because it was too thick.
I'm looking forward to cheaper altearnatives of this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008NMCPTQ/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk) which looks like it has the best design, and offers the best protection.

Best Galaxy Note II Flip Cover Case?

I just got my Galaxy Note II and I did not like the Samsung OEM Flip Case it came with. I feel like it only protects the screen if the phone ever drops, and if it happens to hit any of the four corners in a drop, the phone would be done for. I've been looking into wallet cases, but most of them are magnetic and seem to interfere with the S-Pen. Does anyone know of a good flip case that snaps onto the device itself, similar to this one?

I would advise you look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968655
Magnetic catch on flip cases
I recently bought a Zenus case which I like a lot. The only thing I am not keen on is the press stud on the front so that whenever you close it you are pressing a bit on the glass. The Zenus case I got a long time ago for my original Galaxy Tab has a magnetic closure and this is really good. However, I am confused about whether magnetic catches badly affect the S-pen usage. Some reviews mark down cases because a magnetic closure interferes with the S-pen. Is this true of all cases with magnetic closures? Are there any flip cases with magnetic closures that do not affect S-pen use?

i just ordered one of those. it has a full tpu case on the phone plus a multipurpose leather flap attached to it that allows it to act as either a vertical or horizontal stand. it also fixes the thing i hate the most about flip covers - camera use. with most flip covers, the flap just feels flimsy, dangles everywhere and gets annoying. with this one, you can fold the flap back, and fold down a portion of the leather to stop it from obstructing the camera. quite useful.
the black and brown flap versions have a dark brown-ish semitransparent tpu case. the other colours all have a transparent tpu case.
it also has a magnetic lock on it as well.

Does anything stick to the 5t? Looking for a metal plate for a magnetic mount.

As the topic states, has anyone found a metal plate brand that has an adhesive that will actually stick to the rear of the 5T? I've tried a number of them, and they all pop right off when I go to pull the phone off the dash, leaving the plate attached to the magnets.
Specifically, I've tried the plate that came with:
"Maxboost" Magnetic Car Mount, which has no branding on the backer for the tape, so I'm not sure what it is
"DAFQCO" Magnetic Cell Phone Holder for Car, which used a 3M tape that i can't recall the number of off the top of my head
A Maxboost plate with it's tape replaced by 3M VHB Tape F9460PC tape.
I bought the Carbon fiber bumper case and attached the metal plate to the back of it with 3M double sided tape and leave it in my car.
Whenever I get in my car I just switch my case for the Carbon fiber bumper and have never had any troubles.

In this case, problem is about magnet is too strong, you can try using small metal plate or better adhesive.
Or put metal plate in between case and phone, magnet is strong enough to hold it (make sure to put protective film on plate or phone)

This is what I did. I used simple vinyl tape (electric tape) so the metal wouldn't scratch the phone
I bought the sandstone cover from the oneplus store.
In the future you might consider the proclip mount. I've had mine for 5 years and it's adjustable case has worked for every phone I've had since. I'm also anal about not having my AC air blowing on my phone in a vent mount. Probably a personal problem.

I ordered the spigen metal plate from Amazon. So far it hasn't come off. And I use it with the original thin case, the red case, and naked.
I use Tech Sense Lab Magback car mount. Wonderful product. I have the still plates attached to my phones case from inside. Works perfectly.

Thanks, I actually have the car half of a pro clip mount for my car, I love the quality and the ingenuity of the mount, I just don't love where it ends up placing it in a 7th gen VW GTI (right in the passengers knee if they're tall).
I ended up using the heavy duty exterior grade Scotch double sided foam tape (that's effectively 3M automotive trim tape) for a week before I ended up just building a car mount. And all this started because I'm one of the crazy people who doesn't use a case at all.

Cell helmet sounds like exactly what you're looking for. I've been using one for two years now on multiple phones and haven't had any issues: https://www.cellhelmet.com/pages/mounts

Magnetic phone holder for car vent

I'm searching for a magnetic phone holder which you can mount into the air vent of a car. Tried a few but the magnets are not strong enough to hold the phone.
Any advise, preferably based on experience.
Grab a thin metal plate adhesive from the one side, and stick it on the back of the phone or just place it inside a hard TPU case (between the case and the back of the phone), and it will be held like magic.
The plate must be large enough to hold it properly.
Some magnetic holders in the market include such metal plates.
I recommend Magnetic holder brand Baseus
It sticks very well even on rough road. Been using it for a month and never once it fall off.
Bought it for around $5
Premium build quality and also it comes with nice metal plate wrapped with leather.
Worth every cents.
