T-Mobile USA Side-Kick Prepay and Tytn II

Hello All,
I bought a prepay Side-Kick Tmobile sim card in Memphis today, after activating it and toping it up. I put it in my Kaiser. Auto connection setup started nicely and found tobile USA settings.. whoever, I am unable to attatch to the data network.. when ever I try and connect, the E with arrow icon starts working around, but then it stops and a message reading: Cannot connect for unknown reason (then it goes on about changing settings etc)
I looked everywhere for answers, (as I id like to think im more intelligent than just asking a question that could be dumb :-D) but i could not find a thing that worked about this.. and the things i did find were not helpful..so apologies in advance if there was an obvious place for my answer but i missed it some how..
The Device Information is:
ROM: Dutty WM6.1 WWE (CE OS 5.2.19716, build 19209)
Date: 04/01/08
Radio: 1.64.08.21
Protocol Version: 25.74.40.02H
I would hope that someone can help me, as i am desperately needing to get connected... im visiting from the UK and my silly sim card malfunctioned and i can no longer get online :-(

Sidekick data tries to connect to Danger (manufacturer of SKs) Servers for internet connection, any other devices will not work on that service. You need to use the service that they offer for regular cell phones called Tzones or the data plan for smartphones

I tried the file (its one of the solutions i found and didnt work before posting).. what it did that it refused to even try and connect. it was something to do with having the Prixy settings active..so really im not sure what to do..
I tried to get through to Tmobile CS, but im almost sure that they will have no clue on what to do, but i was too late in the evening, so I will try tomorrow..
Any more ideas are Warmyl welcommed!

from what i've read it seems that the sidekick data plans will not work on our devices.. as i was planning to do the same thing it seems that only the unlimited text would work not the data probably due to the fact that the data connects through danger which would detect that it's not a sidekick.. i was disappointed to find this out b4 as well

So what does a man have to do to get access to get pay as you go mobile access( in the US)!? does any one know any other service provider that would sell me a prepay sim that will have some kinda daily data package?

I totally agree! I ran into the same problem as you. I am in the USA for 3 weeks and want a cheap (prepaid) mobile data connection. The best option seems to be: T-Mobile Total Internet Plan $40 month-by-month unlimited EDGE + WiFi.

ATT also sells prepaid sims under the name Go Phone...

Yes.. I found that out.. but they said in the ATT shop that it doesnt allow data access :-(

Well to sum up,
I managed to get through to tmobile CS, they confirmed what was mentioned before about Side Kick servers. so the anser is No to all other devices besides to "side kick" (the handset)..so no Kaiser, or anything else!
I guess that i will have a new addition to my sim collection!

i actually had the same problem. and i downloadede a Dutty Tmobile set up worked wonders! make sure you install it to device .
i downloaded the zip onto my memory card. inserted it into phone searched my memory card opened the zip and used the DUTTY tool to set up connection. installed the program onto device and once installed you will need to do a soft reset in. once the phone comes back on it will prompt you to set up the tmobile connection.

I have a big problem with my N1, this day i used my phone as normal, calls, web and so on...
Now my phone are completly unable to connect to my provider Telenor, i have tryed the sim card in another phone and that works nice so the problem is the telephone.
My phone is a "Open phone" with this info:

I have updated radio with:TheOfficial_Nexus1_Radio_Update_4.03.00.21_2 (for ere27)
I have wiped and installed my NexDESIRE-v1.2_REMIX two times without any luck.
WLAN works nice.
Are there anybody else that can help me?

This was an odd problem.. I my self have a N1 running with a Telenor simcard in Norway, and i have had no problems, have been running Stock, cyanogenMod, + other roms, and never had any problems like this, now i'm running 2.2 and no problems what so ever..
Try Flashing the new 2.2 update this includes a new radio image. Remember nandroid backup first!.. and WIPE everything just to be safe..

This could also be that your phone are trying to connect to Netcom instead of the Telenor network.. try this steps:
Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Network operators > then select Telenor from the list. If every things ok, it should say "Registered on network" (sometimes the phone use some time searching for network operators).

try froyo, thats my only/best guess on getting this to work again. Worst case call HTC. So you have tried the method selecting network operator manualy?

Jepp, i have tryed to change manualy between Telenor and NetCom but none for them will work, i now also tryed to load the phone with the ROM you suggested but no luck...

then i have no idea what so ever.. try calling HTC costumer service and ask them if they can help you, just remember not to tell them that your phone have a unlocked boot loader as this voids the warranty.. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful..

I had the same problem, it may be a problem with NexDesire.
I flashed nexDesire and over night the radio died on me. I tried multiple different SIM's and ROMS (which I can account that work on my brother's Nexus One fine) with no luck.
I had to send it back to HTC, we'll see how it comes out when I get it back in a few days.

Leave the phone sitting for 5 minutes, if it still hasn't found it try doing a manual network search. If it still won't work, pull the battery, boot up again and repeat the process. I've had to do this 3-4 times a couple of times to get it to pickup my network.

Opps, that dosen't sound good...
This is a little cises for me sinse this is my "tool at work".

So it seems unlocking this device from T-Mobile and using it on Wind Mobile (in Toronto, Canada) gives me problems with MMS.
I cannot send or receive any MMS.
I researched to find some people are setting up an additional APN for MMS but WP7 only allows 1 APN to be set up.
As well no advanced settings are available.
Yes I have downloaded the HTC Connection Setup and even selected Wind Mobile but no change.
Anyone out there on Wind Mobile or Mobilicity and using MMS? I have a feeling I need to access the Admin Settings (eg ##634#) like some others have done. Too bad that code doesn't work on HD7's.

I unlocked my HD7 and put in an AT&T sim. I had MMS and it sent fine. There are some reports that WP7 to NON WP7 MMS not working. But my tests show it working from WP7 to WP7 and WP7 to an android device(My touch).

Unfortunately AT&T is different. My g/f is on Telus and has no issues with MMS. But Wind has an issue specifically as they require seperate MMS APN settings. WP7 allows only one APN to be set up so unless you can access the hidden menu features you're stuck with only data but no MMS features.

HTC has a Connection Setup app that apparently gets around this issue.

I'm having this problem too.
I have an O2 unlocked HD7 and I'm using portuguese network TMN...everything runs fine except MMS.
I talked to my Operator and HTC and nothing. Made the Connection Setup a few times and nothing.
Hope to see this solve in a future update

This app is useless and does not correct the issue.

i have the same problem, any solution for it...

need this info as well... is there away to make a profile kinda like on a iPhone where you can install to the phone with the correct settings?

My HD7 is O2 UK, unlocked. Just like you i use it in Bulgaria with different operator - M-Tel
At first i had the same problem with MMS. I spoke with the operator but this did not help me. From my operator just explain me that the HD7 take the settings for MMS automaticaly from the network. After that i see that 3G and Data connection is OFF. Just turn ON and i have MMS

Mine is imported from i think UK but i am not so sure
When start the phone there is a logo O2
Did you try with 3G and Data connection ON? Here you need to restart the phone to complete new settings

Strange
Yes, when I try to send, I always turn on Data Connection and 3G.
I made the Connection Setup from HTC, restarted the phone and nothing...gives error when I try to send and when I receive one MMS, it does nothing.
I know some friends here that have the same issue as I.
My operator doesn't help too..must see this...probably a problem here in Portugal operators

Can you try with SIM Card from another provider?
I think you dont need to use Connection Setup for MMS because mine HD7 take all settings from the network, not like mine old HD2 to input settings manualy for MMS
Did you try to reflash with stock ROM?

I will try to see if works with Optimus, a different carrier.
With stock rom no, only made an hard-reset

Try with Optimus but dont use Connection setup. Lets the phone to take his settings from the operators network

Yesterday i had a problem with my Nokia X2 - dont want to start alarm. Everything was OK before 2 days and after that alarm just stop
I reflash by Nokia software updater and now is working

I send an MMS by Optimus a few seconds ago...must wait for the response of my girlfriend
But probably I will flash the Stock Rom and put all clean.

please, I´ve got a question. I am at Maldives at the moment, for next year and something. I bought DS7 for very good price, everything is working great, it´s exactly what I wanted. But... DS was locked to T-Mobile (probably USA), but I asked Dell for sending me the unlock code, no problem, I´ve unlocked it.
And now is the problem. I cannot use the mobile internet & SMS with local SIM. Have installed 514 ROM, firstly for EU 3G, but there was a problem with modem installation, so then I realized I probably have the US 4G version (didn´t knew which one I have). It was OK, modem was installed, I am sucesfully logged into the local provider´s network, so the "cell unit" is working for sure. But I cannot send or receive SMS and what´s worse for me, cannot use the mobile internet, even if APN and all that stuff is well inputed and saved...
Does, please, anyone has any idea how to fix it? If it is even fixable at all...? Have to say that I am not newb in Android, but this is something I cannot solve by myself.. I would be really glad if anyone helps..

My first suggestion would be to flash back to Froyo and get it working and then upgrade from there

thanks for your reply. I have tried to flash back to Froyo as recommended, but it´s still the same problem.. I am logged into the local network, GSM is working (to be accurate - only the loging into the network, SMS is still the same..), but mobile data not.. Even if I had everything turned on, the APN and all like this is OK (including screenshots), no... No way, it´s not working... Are there some any other ideas, please....?

Kill me, kill me right now, please... For four days I am solving this, reinstalling everything like an idiot and now I realized.... The damn Maldivians pre-paid cards has to be activated by making some call!! The SIM was not active all the time I was flashing, downloading, googling and all these things and it was simply not active... Because now I thought it´s very, very weird so I tried to put the SIM into my phone and it was not working either... Tried to make some call and it told me "this is your first call in our network.. your SIM has to be activated by calling to number bla bla bla..".. I made it... Everything´s working great now!!
The only thing I am really missing is the troll face on the SIM...
Anyway thanks a lot for interest, I am going to flash to the Honeycomb again.. For the last time!!

Samsung ATIV SE - No internt sharing

I got the ATIV SE and really like it. Problem is that even though it's unlocked SIM and I have also developer unlocked it, I cannot get internet sharing to turn on. I bought from Verizon, but am using it on T-Mobile. Error is:
To enable tethering on this device, go to Verizon.com or dial *611
What is the best way to get this phone to forget about Verizon? Is there a way to just factory reset to vanilla windows?

I'm not sure but could it be possible that your carrier lock Tethering?
Have you tried an oter csc?
Or can you flash an other ROM`?

Thanks for the reply. No, carrier does not lock. The problem is with the phone being set up to think it's a Verizon phone. Is there a way to flash another rom here? or something like root?

We can interop-unlock Samsung WP8 phones, although if it's fully up-to-date it may need to be downgraded first. I don't know if that will help you, though. I can't tether (well, not over WiFi; wired works) my non-T-Mobile phone on TMo either.

There won't be another CSC to flash... Unless you can get @-W_O_L_F- to help you out with a custom rom....

Can you please help me out with how to do this with ATIV SE?

Interop-unlock instructions are in my signature. I don't know if they'll help you though, and if you're on GDR3 (probable) then you'll need to downgrade first (or use a custom ROM) and for that you need to read @-W_O_L_F-'s threads. I don't know if there's a base ROM (non-Verizon) for the SE; if there is you can probably flash that but we may not have one.
If you wanted to know how to do wired tethering, just search for "tether ATIV S". Seriously, #1 rule of this forum is literally "search before posting"

Seriously, thank you for the reply. I did lots of searching, but since ATIV S and SE are quite different, I wasn't sure if anything related to S would work.
I'd love to flash an SE base ROM on this, but I haven't been able to find that there is one.
The MS Store in Bellevue said that they would be getting a Samsung base ROM in a couple months that they would flash onto my device for me. But I'd like to do this sooner.
Should I reach out and read wolf's threads to see about using a custom ROM here then?

Try a variation on the following method:

Worked for the HTC 8x, should work for Samsung as long as you can put in the right model ID. (hint: it's not "dm=Windows%20Phone%208X%20by%20HTC" for your Samsung.) Good luck!

// Replace the device model with the dm for the Nokia 925 (AT&T / North America):

Note the CAPS for the oemId.

At this point, I'd call T-Mobile and see if they can double-check everything on their end. They might need to reprovision your data services. I had a similar issue with my old iPhone when I added the 500MB tethering option.
They do have an "access point" app (I forget what it is called) that comes pre-installed on their phones. (Literally useless, it is so when you click Yes on the "learn more" button" it tells you to call customer care to enable internet sharing. I always delete it off of mine when I restore from stock).
That is another fun trick: to get rid of apps you can't uninstall, set the date and time on your phone to later than 2200 and click on the app...it will tell you that it expired and give you the option to uninstall it!

Did you ever get this solved? I'm planning on getting this phone too, but for use on At&t. I hope I don't run into the same problem. But I do have some questions to ask you, I hope you don't mind answering....1) Does the voice call works as any unlocked phone? .... 2) Can T-Mobile detect that you're using an ATIV SE? Or does T-Mobile says you have an Unknown device when you check your online account? Thanks!

If you are in Dev Preview.. try the foreign sim trick
if not just install a new keyboard.

I followed the procedure outlined, and using SysAppPusher, it attemped to install "access point" under Microsoft mobile (not Lumia), and from the store, the status changed to "owned". But it didn't actually install it.
I turned off the proxy (as it was recommended) and it still didn't install it. Any idea as to what could be wrong?
I'm on the latest 8.1 release.
