Whenever the Play is plug into the DK300, it will automatically start the CLOCK application, and map the HOME button to CLOCK application. Is there anyway to prevent that or change the auto launch application?
Thanks in advance.
found my own answers - by using the software from market , dock nothingness OR Dock no-OP.
Thanks
thats good. i believe you can also change it from liveware manager in you pre-installed apps. if you go there you can see the dock (when its connected) and it has app launch and you can remove the clock app.
just you liveware manager.
I would get one if you could set it do a slide show and use it like a picture frame.
Or can you?

You can, actually. It's one of the features of the dock mode. It presents the images on your Gallery as a slideshow.
BTW, I can't find anything on LiveWire which allows you to set up the dock mode. Is it perhaps because I haven't updated the phone (and currently can't)?
At any rate, Dock Nothingness did what I wanted, which was the same as the OP. If I want to launch the clock app, I can do so by myself, thank you very much.

Lol that's what happened to me. I thought that after connecting the dock to my Xplay for the 1st time the dock would appear there on LiveWire, but it doesn't. xD
i started this post cos livewire does not have that option

Is to possible to Fake Docking Mode?
It is not possible in the way it was with the OG DROID by use of magnets because the dock modes are now controlled through circuit boards inside the docks that signal the phone as to which mode it should go into.
Since there are no shortcuts in the app drawer either, this can make getting into desk mode and car mode difficult, but not impossible. I currently use ADW Launcher which allows you to create a custom shortcut on any home screen. If you were to select Activities, you get a list of all possible phone activities including all the different app activities. Among those app activities are of course the car and desk mode apps. This method also works with the Better Cut app if you are using the default launcher. So you can actually create a shortcut that will initiate one of the other modes. I hope this helps.

So can u actually access dock'd mode?
I know there is a way to by-pass the problem like you did in the og... you have to mod the apps to see when it fires which gives me an idea...

You CAN use a magnet, but you have to get just the right spot and it usually goes into desk mode, not car.

As I couldn't find any Daydream for my finally arrived Nexus 7 Dock which fulfills all my needs, I started developing my own one. I'm quite happy with the result and present you:
Lucid - DayDream Screensaver
The main screen of the screensaver is the clock view, which you can see in the 1st attached screenshot. Besides the moving clock & date it can also show:
battery level
weather
unread GMails
missed calls
new SMS texts
next alarm
Also, you get buttons at the bottom to:
toggle night-mode (dim the screen)
start RSS view (3rd screenshot)
start Slideshow view
play/pause music (not every music app is supported)
You can change nearly every color/text size from the configuration screen. On Android 4.2, you'll find the Daydream in the Android settings app -> Display -> Daydream. For older versions, there is a launcher icon in your app drawer and the app can automatically start when the device is connected to a power source or placed in a dock.
The app comes as a trial version, in which the use of the daydream is limited to 30 minutes. You can purchase the full version from an in-app option for a fair 0.50 EUR / 0.99 USD.
Download: Play Store
The screensaver should work with every 4.0+ device, however I could only test it on my Nexus 4 & 7. So if you have any issues, let me know

Hi j4velin,
I purchased your app.
Just 2 things :
When i purchase, the only thing that changed is "Purchase App" disappeared.
Is this correct / ok ?
Secondly, if i want to change date format, can i make it into
dd.MMM, YYYY or something like that ?
thanks

Hi, thanks for the build.
- first good news. After installing new apk, When going to the modules - night mode, everything is working fine.
- now the bad news - when i selected checkbox (checkbox was hidden behind text darken to 0%" ), screen went off. Now i'm not able to disable checkbox ;-(. When i'm going again to the night mode plugin - screen is going off.
- how to delete application settings without loosing license data?

okay, i'll change that again in the next version. you should be able to delete the apps data in the Android settings, it should restore your license automatically
edit: attached another version which gives you a 3 seconds countdown before actually turning the brightness to 0%

Thanks very much for support.

P.S. automatic dimming based on the light in Lux is nice feature. i like that.
P.S.S. When changing value of a Lux and i'll put 5.0 and after that delete, delete, delete (to have empty value). Application stops responding.
I just started using this last night. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to update notifications when they come in while the daydream is opened. It only shows the one's it knows about when launched. Is it just me? If not, is there any way to change this?
i recently purchased your app and I love it but is there any way you would be able to have lucid daydream set as default action when it is docked, currently when i dock my phone i get a "Complete action using" pop-up before you app starts. It would be great if you added this to your app, I've added a picture to show what pops up.

what Android version do you use? does Lucid actually start when you dock your device? have you rebooted once?
Great app but the cpu usage is always used to its maximum. Also I'm missing one function . I don't want my phone to be turned on while night so it would be great if You would add some options to disable Your app between set time.

when not using the "night-mode", the app should set the display brightness to 10% if it's not already darker. when using the night mode you can set it to 0% on supported devices
Thank you for this!
Seems nice, willing to take a try.
Please disable lockscreen as in the android clock day dream. One of my primary uses is as a screen saver where I don't have to unlock I can just swipe the screen. Why would you need screen lock if it's on a charger/docked.

So where exactly is the option for AM/PM? This is usually "t" or "tt" but I noticed that your App seems to have left this out, although not all of us are in the military NOR do we venture outside our "box" so we need to know if it is DAY or NIGHT without looking outside.
Can you please add this?

i have exactly the same feeling. no offence, but i can't find a single use for this that i won't get with nova launcher.
i'm not a developer, but i think we need more apps that are optimized for gear - and i don't mean a launcher like this, but apps like voice recorder, music player, perhaps a text reader.

I use an app called Nightstand Bold. I can't seem to find it on playstore anymore - maybe the publisher removed it.
But it is probably the most beautiful nightstand clock app.

Daydream, under Display options. If apps are designed with that purpose, you will there those that can get automatically activated when you put your phone on the charger or stand.
If you search for Daydream on Google play, you should be able to find apps that fulfill this.
As a simple example - Google's clock does it just fine. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock&hl=en.
i really prefer to find an app which allow me to choose which app will pop up when the phone is docked.... any suggestions ??

After you install, go under display settings to the screensaver and select ClockPlus. You can change settings like brightness if you tap the gear icon. And if you select MORE in the upper right part of the main screensaver screen, you can select when to launch the screensaver.

Or not. That's kind of the point of Android Auto in the first place is to get people off of messing with their phones while they're driving.
The only solution that I am aware I was to buy an Android Wear watch. All notifications still come through on the watch even when connected to Android Auto.
Press multi task button then press home, quickly select app or open app drawer.
I use this method with Note 4

Hello and sorry for reviving such an old thread.
I have used for some time the trick suggested by @ireknole with a phone having hard buttons. My new phone, however, has soft buttons and Android Auto disables on purpose the multi-task button. (Mate 10 Pro, Android 8.0).
I have no other option left now to check my phone while AA is connected to the car and running. I need to check the phone for searching for a song or my wife needs to change the song while i'm driving - plus search the internet or whatever else she feels like on long roadtrips.
However, I can still access the notifications drawer and all the shortcut buttons found there (i did not give AA permission to draw over other applications).
Does anybody know:
1) How to place a custom button in the notifications drawer which specifically does that: activate multi-task function or any other function to just put AA in background and allow me to access other apps?
2) How to forbid AA to disable my multi-task button in the first place?
Thank you!

I haven't found a way to get the multitask button to reshow, but I have a built in app on my Samsung S8 that allows me to swipe from the edge of the phone and select the "shortcut" "recent apps" that acts like the multitask button. There may be an app that's similar in the play store that lets you open it with a swipe and map a "recent apps" shortcut as an option.

another way is to install AAWidget. it display a widget on your Android auto screen.
but this only work for AA2.9 since google disable third party apk in AA3.0
AA widget will list down mails, whatapps messages etc as long as theres widget for those apk.
make a clone and aawidget and you can havemultiple widget to read your email/whatsapp etc
but you cant read full email or messages if the email or messages too long. just good enough to check what are the incoming email/messages
Thank you for your answers!
I did not try your solutions because in the meanwhile I found a way to gain complete control over my phone using Tasker.
For anyone interested, create a new profile in Tasker, set the trigger to Apps->Android Auto and the task to "Go home".
What this setup achieves is showing the home screen whenever AA tries to pop up on screen, which solves all the problems
I can use my phone as if AA was not running at all, while AA is completely functional on the car's screen.
I use AA 2.9.57xxxx.
If you are on Nougat you can add a custom tile using the regular android api to launche the home launcher activity. But please don't post any source code or ready to use apk somewhere. This should be something for the "pros" if its too easy to use they come up with a way to block the notification drawer

I just started using AA on my Nexus 5X running 8.1. AA hides the multi-task button, but if you swipe up from the bottom of the screen; the buttons re-appear for a few seconds and you can select it again.
My problem is that AA sets the screen timeout to 15 sec. So when I pull over to check/write an email; the screen constantly shuts off. The Nexus 5X is no longer a "fast" phone, so starting OWA (outlook) takes more than 15 sec. I've gone into the phone settings after connecting the phone and changing it back to 2 min., but this setting will re-set the next time I plug the phone in again.
Latest version and the version before it (3.1 is latest, can't remember exactly what the previous version is) has changed this.. you can now just swipe up on the phone and access it normally when it's connected to Android auto.
