Carrier iq roms are similarly built fortunately for us. They share 3 things in common. Ciq is removed. Battery as percent mod. And reboot option. That's good cause say bonsai didn't have the reboot option or the code they wrote the reboot option with had a different value from say syndicate rom. Well then to theme it you'd have to edit the framework to match causing themers to make a syndicate, stock, and bonsai version of a theme just to have nothing but a few numbers in an xml file different. That would mean themers had to host 3 different themes about 50-90 megs behind 1 kb of differnt text. Luckily all the ciq roms share values across so to theme them you need a stock base (ec05) with the reboot mod and battery as percent baked in. The ciq part isn't affecting the themes the only change that ciq has on the themes is a file called dialertabactivity.apk. that's the apk for the dialer that is brought up when you press the phone icon. You must theme the dta.apk from the rom to work right all the other apps use stock deodex from ec05.

The window isn't in xml. It's hidden in the framework somewhere. I'll look into it. Didn't realize that you were aiming for the bg as well.
I have been looking for it as well but can't seem to find it. If you find it let me know!
I might be a little off but i believe that it is called panel_background based of this info i found i looking ofr other info. i have no experiance with photoshop or gimp so i can edit it and verify but thought i would let you know and try to help.
the icon is in drawable-hdpi
the info below can be found under framwork/res/layout/volume_adjust

- <LinearLayout android:gravity="center_horizontal" androidrientation="vertical" android:background="@drawable/panel_background" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">

Why is that? So far eb13 and ec05 are the only carrier iq roms out and this supports both. You can flash the modded framework/twframework on both. Not that your request is out of line or asking alot just curious what sparked you to post that. I almost got the since you felt bamboozled by clicking the link

Btw this isn't a true theme template because it doesn't include apps or fonts both of which are included in a true theme template.

Lol you took my recommendation out of its size. it just looks nicer =) more "acs" cerified. (Idk wht I'm talking about there)
And it would help those who quick skim without reading OP's. I used this to mix the aosp theme and old gingerbread theme for srf.

Hey guys, this is my first skin and its called "Touch of Blue" and is for RLToday. Let me know what you guys think of it. Ok guys, here is the skin and installation files. The sms indicator is linked to pocket cm, so if you want to change it you will have to edit the skin file. Also, the voicemail indicator isn't linked to anything yet, not sure what to link it to. Looking good. keep it up! I too have made a skin with a blue shadow for Touch Commander. This look works for me.

I'm not sure I like where some of the blue is, but it looks SUPER functional, which is what I like.
As long as I can have my calendar, too, this is definitively going on my phone and possibly some of my ROMs if you allow it.

Hey guys here is the blue theme PrYde the next installment of the 7 Deadly Sins this is a large-ish update. Just a few things to get wrapped up and a few mods then its on to the next one. Again just going for a beefed up stock look as clean an i can get it(as I have mentioned before I like the GB theme). The framework is very similiar to that of EnV but not identical it has a combination of blues (mostly 0098cc, 0083ce for anyone who needs it), black, greys and whites that mesh well. So enjoy the theme and leave some feedback. Again for those who PM'd me regarding donations please donate or give blood at your local Red Cross and hit the thanks button .

what do you guys think of this for the dialer?
This is very simple, but very nice nonetheless. I'm really liking this series you're creating. Keep up the good work!
That dialer looks great too. My only suggestion would be to mayyyybe add the same gray from the pulldown notification bar, instead of the dialer just being black and blue.
Edit: since this theme is based on blue, I think blue checkboxes would look better than white. Same with the loading icons (the rotating circle).

Well with this one I am trying to mute the primary color outside of some specific apps eg the dialer/phone and the status bar. The keyboard will be a muted grey with some blue accents. I may change the spinners as you suggested as I have them changed in a frame work variation already . The grey, blue and white will be throughout the primary system apps. I should have an update Sunday or Monday if all goes well. I thank you for your complements and input. Glad you're enjoying the theme.
I enjoy your work quite a bit, and I will certainly pay out forward as you said. Thanks for having fun with all of us
I love the dialer. Might be cool if the background was transparent as well?
And I am not sure what it takes to do, but if live to see the 4 tab lock screen in every theme. Could that be made to be flashed alone?

It seems like there are lots of people wanting to theme but struggling with .xml edits, and where to find things. Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to work on a guide of the edits you’ve seen in my releases. Going through this I am going to assume you know how to decompile and recompile an apk.
Progress bars
The first one I’m going to do is the progress bars. I know I’ve read this one in another guide, but I’m going to go a bit more in depth with it.
File that will be modded here are res/drawable/progress_horizontal.xml and res/values/styles.xml.
Starting with the progress_horizantal.xml
First the background that is filled by the progress bar.
Code:

<shape>
<corners android:radius="6.0dip" />
<gradient android:startColor="#ff7d7f94" android:endColor="#ff6f7285" android:angle="270.0" android:centerColor="#ff6f7285" />
</shape>

Things that you might want to change here is the how the ends of the bar look and the color.
The end are controlled by <corners android:radius="6.0dip" />. If you want it flat you would enter 0.0dip here.
The color is controlled here: <gradient android:startColor="#ff7d7f94" android:endColor="#ff6f7285" android:angle="270.0" android:centerColor="#ff6f7285" />. As you can see there are 3 places where you can choose a color, top, bottom, center, in that order.
These same rules also apply to the bar itself in this string and can be edited the same way.
Code:

<clip>
<shape>
<corners android:radius="6.0dip" />
<gradient android:startColor="#ff00aa00" android:endColor="#99444444" android:angle="270.0" android:centerColor="#ff00ff00" />
</shape>
</clip>

I would suggest the value of <corners android:radius="6.0dip" /> be the same in all of the stings of this xml file.
Next I’ll cover the height of the bar which is in the styles.xml.
This string controls things like the volume bar and download progress bars.
Code:

Here you adjust
12.0dip
and
12.0dip
. The larger the number the bigger the bar will be. I suggest keeping these numbers the same in both the max and min.
This string follows the same rules and controls the progress bars in the settings.
Code:

true

Let me know what you think and ideas of what I can add.
More to come as time permits.
Here is a great guide over on another site I reference once in awhile.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/team-inversion-conversion/64994-theming-guide-changing-system-text-settings.html
I'm going to ask it here since its a .xml (I think), but would you happen to know what file controls the color of the text on buttons? I'm stuck because it looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Any help you could offer?

Damn dude! lol
Umm not completely sure on this one, but I would bet it's in the styles.xml. I would search for "@color/primary_text_light", and change the light to dark, or search
"?textColorPrimaryInverse" which is black text, and remove the inverse which changes it to white. You could also add a color code #ff000000 format, but then you would also need to add a string to define the font size as well.
Some of these menus are actually in the smali, but I do't think this one is. Pretty sure I changed this once by mistake a few months ago.
I was searching through the framewroks, and I could have sworn it was in the colors folder of twframework-res, but I can't get it to recompile.

Thanks. I've tried, but I'm out of ideas. There's no point in continuing the theme if I can't fix the text.

Great guide Shane. If there was more handy little threads like this and threads that Dreams has done things would be so more simple the for the average themer.
Nice thing your doing here Shane, look forward to seeing more of it when time permits for you.

- changed settings icon in notification menu
hope you enjoy!
This is one of the best themes available!
I just wanted to say that. I love it. It reminds me of Matted Blues, just a little nicer (not that Matted Blues wasn't amazing).
I was using this for a day or so before I switched ROMs. I'm now on RASCREAM and there's no Theme Chooser so I can't download it.
However, if you get bored or something, you could always make a flashable version that works with rascream. >_>
no idea how
Me neither.
If you are interested in learning I would recommend sending fergie a PM. He makes his own flashable themes for various ROMs. I'm actually using his version of LunarUI for Rascream now. I'm going to start theming when I get my new laptop... but that's not for a while. =(
This is really great. I was wondering if you can tell me what apk did you use for your template.

Thanks. Was there a guide you used to make this? I'm making my first theme and I'm kinda stuck.

yea, looked over a few guides in the android themes section, but you really don't need them too much.
mostly, just go into the drawable folders and edit the pngs there.
if you run into a couple that look 'distorted' with a black bg, open first in paint.net, save, and then open again in photoshop/the program you're using to edit images.
also need notepad++ to edit a couple xml files
theming is so fun!

Yeah can you tell me what are the main xmls you had to edit? I know colors.xml of course and drawable.xml but is there anything else. I can't seem to get the divider lines in the notification bar my color.
EDIT: Is there a way to add all the images you want changed and pick your color for one of them and they'll all automatically get changed to that color instead of doing it one by one?

^what you should edit.
theres might be a way to batch edit stuff, but haven't figured it out yet.
what i did was a set a photoshop action, so that i when i activate it it'll auto-edit the image. gets repetitive but better then doing one by one.
