Ok, so I brought this up as a comment in the epic ROM by the good people at Einherjar, Trigger Redux, but it should also work for any version of CM7 and since I figured a lot of people might want CM7 to be compatible with the FFC mod for the Vibrant, I decided to make a brand new thread for it.
I owe this fix to the good people who worked on the various Q&A and FAQs for Vibrant CM7. The issue regarding the fact that some versions of CM7 do not support the Vibrant FFC Mod lies in the /system/lib/libcamera.so file. Since the Vibrant does not have a FFC normally, it will present only the 4 options on the camera app that should pertain to your phone, and consequently even if you do have a FFC, neither the camera nor any mirror or video calling app will work right out of the box.
The fix? Using Root explorer (or something similar), replace the current /system/lib/libcamera.so file with the one provided here, change the permissions on the libcamera.so file so they match all the other .so files in the same folder, and reboot. Problem solved.
NOTE: Due to a very helpful favor from scrizz, this tweak is now available as a CwM flashable .zip! However, the .zip only contains the libcamera.so file. If you want to change out ALL the .so files regarding the camera, they have been uploaded. (changing out all the .so files is recommended, since they may prevent unknown bugs from occurring in the future).
This tweak will allow the camera to have 5 of the 6 options (the only one missing will be for flash). Video calls and all mirror apps should now work.
This tweak does not harm any other functions of the phone, it just enables FFC support should someone happen to have an FFC on your Vibrant.
BUGS:
~When you use the FFC in the main camera app for some reason, it will make you look fat when rotated horizontally and will make you look skinny when rotated vertically. Pictures and video will look normal, however.
~This fix does have the old "image is rotated 90 degrees" bug . However, while YOU will see yourself rotated 90 degrees, the PERSON YOU ARE CALLING will see you normally, and all pictures and videos you view will look normal. The image in the main camera app, however, is mirrored, but not rotated .
I tried changing every "SGH-T959" and "vibrantmtd" in the build.prop to "GT-I9000" but that didn't work. Turns out this time, the bug is back with a vengeance. Either way, while it is mildly annoying, it causes no practical malfunction.
~When in video mode for the FFC, you will not be able to zoom in the normal camera app.
P.S. The complete set of all .so files pertaining to the camera do NOT come as a CwM flashable .zip. You have to extract the file on your computer and then manually replace the file. I'm just throwing my two cents in here so that people wont have to dig thru Q&A sections. However, if anyone wouldn't mind giving me a crash course in how to make this a flashable .zip for everyone, do not hesitate to PM me. I would be happy to help and the lesson would be much appreciated.
Additionally, be aware that if you use this tweak and you do NOT have an FFC, the camera will still work under normal circumstances, but if you switch to the "Front" function, the camera will freak out and force close every time you try to open it.
To fix this problem should you encounter it, simply go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Camera and click "clear data."
IDK if this works with MIUI. If you'd like to be a tester for it, do not hesitate to PM me with the results!
If the rotation thing every got fixed I would flash cm7/miui in a heartbeat

Is this any different than the i9000 lib file? I currently have 4 libcam files pulled directly from an i9000 rom, but the only difference for me is that on Tango vchat I see myself rotated 90 degrees, but so does the other person. You're insisting that they'll see me normally?
yea were are these lib files from? i pulled a libcamera.so and miuicamera.apk from the latest I9000 rom and got the FFC to work on my vibrant with the same bugs as the ones listed

They're from the AOSP i9000 2.3 ROM (the i9000 CM7). Also, an alternative method of pushing this libcamera.so is by doing this in terminal (or, I assume, adb).
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /sdcard/libcamera.so /system/lib/
reboot
made it into CWM flashable zip.
LMK if it works.
Jus tested the flashable .zip and everything works as expected.

Exactly! This lib file is the same one from the i9000 version of CM7.
Regarding the vchat 90 degrees bug, yes, I am INSISTING that the other person should see you normally, but I did test it only on Qik as Tango wouldn't work for me for some reason. If you use Qik the other person WILL see you normally.
Try replacing all 4 of the lib files that pertain to the camera with the ones that you have from the i9000 version of CM7. I did, but it didn't make any difference to me. However, since I was unable to try Tango, Vignette or ooVoo, I would recommend you try it.
Anyone else who wants the remaining 3 lib files can get them here.

a simple question:
what is the easiest way to add multitouch to a rom?
i'm using a rooted cupcake 1.5 build
Just flash a Cyanogen ROM
Would love to, but it doesn't fully support my native language, and (correct me if i'm wrong) it has the volume patch applied, which produces in-call noise sometimes. And its the same with every rom i tried except this one
Just letting you know I am not being rude and I am actually trying to help you out. I want to let you know that you posted in the wrong section. You should be posting this in Dream Q&A (this section is for development). Before you post, you should do a search. You would then see that others have already asked this question. With that being said, if you want gallery MT, CM ROMs are the answer. If you want browser MT, just use the Dolphin Browser with any ROM you want (it's a better browser anyway). FYI This thread will probably be moved or closed soon and others will probably have a field day with it. Remember, the search button is your friend...

not there yet
thanks guys, but unfortunately installing Dolphin doesn't solve the problem, cause the kernel itself doesn't seem to be have multitouch enabled. i'v tried dolphin, nada, no multitouch there.
which takes me back to point one, what is the easiest way to enable multitouch on a rooted cupcake (1.5) rom?
ps: @ meltus: are the stock audio files available as a standalone apk or zip file which can be flashed from recovery?
Hi All
Today I found a combination (which might have been out there for a while) how the Camera actually is working for Topaz Android
1. Download the FRX04 version
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883966 check there for section "Topaz Users"
3. Don't forget the post "[23/01/2011] :" to dissable 2 rows in froyo.conf file
The Camera was able to startup and I took one Picture
The speed of the Cam.. well.. don't be to happy.. but it is working anyway
/olme
Yeah, works fine, but only 3 MP and without auto-focus,but it works more quick than im windows mobile.
Oh,but programm(name forgotten) in FRX04 for Rhodium(23.01.11) is more usable, you can make photo by pressing on volume keys
yes indeed WinMo is quicker.. but one step at the time This is the first time I ever on my Topaz and Android was able to even see that it was "connected" and that I could take a picture.
The next development will be that the rest of the goodies will appear such as speed and autofocus etc etc..
GOOD job Android Devs!
/olme
Please, keep in mind that it's in debug state, a branch of XDAndroid code made by viruscrazy.
If you want to help test it, follow the instructions in the first post and leave your logs there.
Thanks.

Updated Lib_package to fix the froyo.user.conf file (thanks to arrrghhh again, you're the "conf file" specialist) and the Blackstone picture crash (I hope...). If you are using latest FRX04 build and rootfs, you may have to disable the two following lines (add a "#" at the begginnning of the line) :
Code:
mount --bind /sdcard/lib_camera/libGLES_qcom.so /system/lib/egl/libGLES_qcom.so
mount --bind /sdcard/lib_camera/gralloc.msm7k.so /system/lib/hw/gralloc.msm7k.so
Could DEVs add camera to Gingerbread?
There is a new fix for 5MP. It works. You need the Kernel from 28.01.11 and the new attached Haret Version. Do not use the attached kernels and don't forget to write the line:
set INITRD_OFFSET 0x608000
under "set initrd initrd.gz" (Startup.txt)

This rom is based from zukriaksah's miui 1.12.16. His had a good foundation just some issue. I have made some changes to it and so far things are working (keep in mind that this has not been tested for a little more than 2 days).

(sorry file are on work pc and this is the only way that I can get them up...so if some one can move to a better site for downloading...pls feel free to do so)
you will have issues with wifi on this rom - the work around that I used it to load cacingkalung's modded version of the sd kernel...get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20326475&postcount=240
had to change the build.prop this phone keep rebooting with some of the files that I had to switch out. I used files from tj and issac.
usb and headphone issues are gone (so far)
added the miui 4-way reboot (hold power button for options)
the fm radio that is in the rom fc's (wish someone can fix this..I am at a loss, I know that it has to be a driver issue but I have no clue which one have been searching for weeks it seems to correct this...I really miss the radio)
added some init.d tweaks...these are found in the various forums here on xda
you might have to load script manager to get them to work (I load this anyways so I dont know if it is needed)
what I added to the init.d:
10cpu - sets the cpu values and govenor
11 iosched - set i/o scheduler
both of these you do not need if you use setcpu or other program like it...I just dont like to have these loaded they take up space and memory.
80netspeed - internet speed hack (helped on mine)
97ks - some kernel mods - helps rom run smoother in my opinion
98kt - internal task killer values
you dont need these you can remove them...play around with the settings you might be able to tweak the rom more to you liking...these are the values that worked best for me
I dont have much of a clue on the battery life yet...have had phone up and down so much that I have not let it go threw my daily pace
So far things seem stable...still no HDMI, dont know if we will ever have this...I am not that good with dev have look at other roms but if the drivers aint right it wont work
I also use force2sd to move the programs to the sdcard to free up the internal memory...everytime that I have tried to include apps2sd thing go wrong..this way works for me so I am not going to worry about it
you will probably get unknown for the carrier...if you know your spn values you can edit it and the name will show up...there are progams in the market that will fix it...other have had luck with out needing a program...In the miui forums they have miui extra setting and they say that you can use it to change the carrier name (never tried)
make sure that you do a system wipe before installing....I dont know what issue you will get if you dont

Dont know if anybody has gps issues or proximity issues....I did....this is what I did to solve this
use root explorer goto system\lib\hw and rename two files to .old
the files are gps.fb0.so and sensors.fb0.so
then goto settings click programs and goto call settings and turn off enforce proximity (what ever the option is under use proximity sensor
reboot....after I did this the sensor works with incoming and outgoing calls and the gps locks in under 30 seconds. used gps status from the market to confirm...dont for get the you might have to edit the gps.conf file in system\etc (I think)...if you didnt edit this file after you loaded the rom then it will be set for north-america.
dont know why this worked....has to be a issue in the files...when I get more time I am going to decompile them to see what is different
Ok, I´m working on CM7.2 for our device, almost all works perfect except few things. I do some research, but I don´t come to any working solution. So I want to discuss with you, maybe you´ll help or give me some advice.
Sd card or internal storage isn´t mounted correctly (one of them), if I get to work one, another stops and vice versa.
In system/etc/vold.fstab
http://pastebin.com/mqAfxeEZ
In system/build.prop
http://pastebin.com/2pFt6Kmu
SD/internal (one of them) isn´t shows in filemanager. What is strange is that I find the non working one in folders! Okay, for example SD card shows properly and I find another storage in folder Root/ss (example for folders understand Root/mnt/sdcard)
If nothing better, is there a way how I can mount folder "ss" as storage or sd card?
I appreciate any help, thank you.
This rom has non working camera also (and I also found some strange things), after I solve major problems I´ll release it. I successfully ported Some Miui GB on it, but I would like to solve problems on CM7.2 and then I can work on port. Because this problems remain in port as well.
In safestrap sdcard shows in the same folder "ss"
Maybe you've already looked into it, but what about searching into Hashcode's CM7 build? for what i can remember, sd was working, but i could be wrong...anyway Hash himself could throw some advice
Sorry but i didn't have the technical knowledge to actually help you with code, but i am working on getting it
All Hashcode links on his builds are dead =(, as far as I know this is based on Hashcode and DrWowe work. I tried mount it as it is on original 2.3.4 for our device, but thats non working, there is some different mount technique or I missing some point.
Thank you for reply, I didn´t have much experience yet too. I hope so Hash could help me, or anyone whos interested.
i find it sad, that we don´t have any working cm7 for now or Miui, because I love this one.
That's why I started working on it, even though I do not have much knowledge needed.

Well, as of now, i am using eclipse rom, and in the vold.fstab the line are those:
Code:
# external sd card
dev_mount sdcard-ext /mnt/sdcard-ext:none:lun1 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.0/mmc_host/mmc0
# internal eMMC
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 25 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmc_host/mmc1
They look different, maybe you could try something like this then in the build.prop the lines should change too, if i guessed right, with something like:
Code:
# Mount the internal SD card, too
ro.additionalmounts=/mnt/sdcard-ext
# ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES
ro.additionalmounts=/mnt/sdcard-ext
ro.vold.switchablepair=/mnt/sdcard,/mnt/sdcard-ext
Just look into your build, when you can, or i'll try with Hash's build when it's possible
It doesn´t work that way. I have already tried something similiar, this one mount blank folder, mine mount internal(or sd), but always only one of them. (I tried setting from steel droid for example) As I can see, some roms has different mount setting. Cm7 maybe has some original one, which I cannot deal with.
I get half working camera, yes! =D But not for very long...
Yeah, anyway i wrote BS on the build.prop part, the first line is wrong,

LOL, throw the mounting question away, i just miss a new build with functioning camera!
EDIT: Anyway...are you using Safestrap 3.05 for tests? i think it doesn't work at all with CM7 builds...i flashed a plain cm7.2 build in every slot and it gave me a black screen...hmmmm....
For the people who dont need this, the non mounted storage is still accessible throught filemanager, usb on pc mount it succesfull too. I see that camera is working on ICS builds, some of them, so I hope its not that hard to fix it on GB rom, maybe I´m wrong. I just need to test third party camera apps and see if one of them works. Maybe I need to merge some files from hashcodes cm7, but now I must really go =D.
edit: Yea mine edited builds are working with safestrap 3.05, thats main point =).
AWWWW YEA
I was searching some new GB goodness these days! waiting for the public build!
On hashcodes cm7 3rd party cameras worked

Okay, I have got one camera app working, but its paid app, and not working in full resolution, Camera Illusion, but paid app isnt working...free version worked, maybe its because lower resolution...
i have 2 builds here:
- CM4D3-nightly-20111116-1445
- cm-7-20120708-UNOFFICIAL-solana
i can upload, if you need.
I modified both and it work with SS3.05 Its pretty stable, but suffers from non working camera and internal storage isnt mounted right (but it works anyway)

DONE!
For reference my gits for CM7 are still around. Tho, I'm sure they are very outdated compared to 7.3 sources:
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_device_motorola_solana/tree/gingerbread
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_vendor_motorola_solana/tree/gingerbread
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_vendor_cyanogen (added the solana device)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_frameworks_base/tree/gingerbread (with some omap4 patches)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_system_core/tree/gingerbread (with the motorola device/permission patches in init)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_hardware_ti_omap3 (motorola / ti patches)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_hardware_ti_omx (motorola / ti patches)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_hardware_ti_syslink (motorola / ti patches)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_hardware_ti_wpan/tree/gingerbread (ti patches)
https://github.com/Hashcode/android_packages_apps_Phone/tree/gingerbread (global modes + dual modem patches for null crashes)
and a full manifest (CM7.0.x IIRC):
https://github.com/Hashcode/cm4D3/tree/gingerbread
The biggest hurdles I ran into, still centered around ducati sources for syslink 2.0 (codecs/camera).
In ways there is more for ICS/JB than there ever was for GB.
To do the camera correctly, you'd need to add more Motorola GB source to omx and dynamically link against their libs from the device used in the camera (libarc**).

Great a lot of people have been waiting for this will flash and test it out later tonight
Thanks for your work! Great to see more people with the right knowledge with their hands on a Note Pro.
Unfortunately I use the camera daily....I'll keep an eye on this, though, in case that gets worked out.

I'm a retired deveopler and don't mind helping out a little where I can. I've enjoyed tweaking my P900 to the max & I'm also glad to finally see some stuff coming out here on XDA for the P900 wifi version. Not much activity on any other forum for this device either. Most likely because of the price of the device and people worring about the Knox tripping issue. I noticed on another forum that someone had compiled a fully functional kernel however they too were experiencing issues with the camera. Anybody have any ideas of whats causing the camera issue? I can possibly help out with the developement of a AOSP rom, or a blazing fast slimmed down ROM. I have plenty of developement knowledge in this area, if there are any interest for one. As for the Kernel issues I'm not too familiar with the compiling however most likely could figure it out.

? I hope you made a backup of your stock kernel before flashing...
Has anyone else flashed this kernel and can confirm if it is booting or not?

Can you describe what happens when you select the "Camera" application. Does it force close, not launch, display some type of error. If you could provide the details of what happens, it may be possible to provide a working solution or "Work around."
Also, try installing another camera application from the Android Market and see if that application works. Maybe using another camera source will work and that could be a temporary work around till the issue us resolved. Let us know. Thanks!

Ok, Thanks. We'll see if we can figure this thing out...
Did you try installing another camera app from the play store and see what happens when you launch it?

here's my observations:
1. Samsung Knox does not get removed as claimed in OP
2. Knox FC every time something is installed and uninstalled (likely under different circumstances too)
3. front camera works perfectly fine
4. rear camera does indeed fail
5. Google camera and 3rd party camera apps fail too
6. Z Device Test still detects all the hardware properties of the rear camera (but maybe that info is retrieved from elsewhere in the /system)
7a. all logcat apps do not work. i waited about 3 to 4 minutes for each to load.
7b. I haven't used it on this tab in a long time so I don't know if kernel caused this
7c. yes, I granted SU to the logcat apps, and later verified that SU wasn't denied.
my relevant info:
p900 USA wifi-only 64gb model
P900UEU1ANC5 (XAR)
edit:
to anyone that cannot boot after installing:
1. try wiping cache and dalvik cache
2. re download and try again if above doesn't fix it
3. if above doesn't fix it and you're on NAE, try updating to ANC5 (or newer?) THEN flashing the kernel again
4. if you're on a version newer than ANC5 that might be the problem and you are out of luck until the kernel is updated for it.
don't ask me about how to update, that's your burden

z device test sees two cameras, so it doesn't kernel problem. back camera and flashlight dont work for me. front camera works fine. i dont have any ideas except permissions

Okay, this has nothing to do with me since I have P905 with stock kernel. I just read this thread by curiosity and though one thing about camera. Can you open test menu anyway on that device which opens on 3G models (and phones) by typing *#0*# to dialer (P900 has no dialer right?) There you can perform some tests to device and one is to check does camera work right.
Hope this helps, or then it wont

p900 doesn't have dialer
z device test detects both cameras..
i now realize why it seems much faster - i am running with interactive and fiops and it is contantly at 2000mhz no lower frequencies are being used - i though it was like this on performance not interactive - obviously the battery is not great right now lol
