please try this
http://revolutionary.io/
(it will most certainly fail but its very important at which)
this tool is used to s-off current htc devices such as IS Evo 3d and Sensation
but to get s-off the tool first gets root access can you see if it achieves root?

Wildfire root access?

Do any current methods allow the wildfire to be rooted yet?
I can confirm the bootloader is 0.80
MOD EDIT (AUG-17 2010):
[GPL] 1-Click Soft Root
User MartinEve has managed to get a temporary software-only root solution that will allow you to run some applications that require SU.
I am thinking of getting one for my daughter and was wondering the same thing but from the fact there is only a general forum and not one for Android development I suspect that it is not possible to root.

any updates to rooting wildfire yet?
I think the method given at
wwwdotgadgetsdnadotcom/how-to-root-htc-wildfire-android-phone/4499/
should work.

Well, indeed I read this thread as well but having some doubt as it was mentioned that the method should work for bootloader version of 0.80 or below and ROM version 1.14.xxx.x or below.
My wildfire came with software number of 1.15.707.1
Is it okay to try that tutorial ?
"meaning we have RW..." What does that mean?
Shouldn't you make a backup of the original ROM before doing any root stuff? I'm reading this article saying you can't at this time, so I guess it's better to wait - or what?
i found a copy of the original ROM at
shipped-romsdotcom/shipped/Buzz/
so if anything goes wrong while rooting it, isnt it possible just to restore the ROM using this?
You can always check your phone's ROM and bootloader versions by starting it with the optical trackpad key held down. just dont mess with anything there and select reboot using the volume keys
@brokenworm - the method given at gadgetdna is what paul originally uploaded at modaco
Testing this modaco publication as we speak
RW is læs og skriv...

Read/write, ahh... I thought about it!
Ok, I see that the method is the one posted earlier, and it doesn't work. Sucks!
Well this sucks. Guess we'll have to wait now.

Salsa Android Dev

Placeholder again
Already thinking about this as a slightly better HTC Aria
Something just so compelling about a small form factor that can still rock.

I think it's a better idea to look at it as a follow-up of the HTC Legend.
is there any method anyone has used to successfully root this phone?
I have got the superuser app for it i have it installed, but it doesn't work which is annoying, i tried to install busybox but it has got to be rooted thought it might of helped bypass it but nope lol
i hope S-off, rooting and custom ROM support darktremor app2sd will appear very soon
i've tried all the rooting options on this with no luck yet
Is there any possibilities someone can root this device?
Seem no particular developer working on this

unlocked bootloader from HTC (official, coming soon..)

well.. to my surprise I got a phone call yesterday from HTC support regarding a letter I sent weeks ago about the locked S-ON phones..
from what they told me (it's customer support after all which means more marketing not technicians.. ) they are getting ready an unlocked bootloader which will be ready soon.. (don't ask me they wouldn't tell me when..)
seams kind of funny after AlpharevX but it's a good move from HTC anyway..
What did they specifically say?
Did they say that they were rolling out unlocked bootloaders for HTC Incredible S and/or other previously released phones?
I am assuming they did because I doubt you would post here if they didn't. But, I just thought I might ask.

well since they called me about the IS (I don't own another HTC phone) and said that they are preparing an unlocked bootloader for my phone (not only my phone I guess )
The 'coming soon' card has been played by HTC ever since they announced they were going to unlock the bootloaders.
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA App
I take it with a grain of salt. Coming soon can be anythinng from now to the end of the year.

I guess we don't need it any more now do we ?
they released that statement before they released the HTC Sensation, so why is sensation still locked?

It's probably because they'd already built and tested the locked bootloader prior to its release and it was too late to change it before shipping the devices. Now they'll have to build and test an unlocked one before releasing that.

your radio is still s-on,
unless you used the hardware method,
and also when you reflash your entire phone, tada, s-on
so, do you need it...?

got a Bell Inc S 3 weeks ago and mine was the same way... never thought to look until i booted to bootloader. you can flash a custom recovery and ROM, but you'll have to use the ENG hboot to flash a radio, e.g., to use the custom Unity ROM 1.27, you'll need a GB radio.
Wow that is amazing... Only if mine were shipped S-Off.
with you 2 that makes 3 confirmed S-OFF reports
So that means HTC started to unlock bootloaders by new phones ? Or only by shipped phones down example like there from.Canada ? Does anyone know when HTC is going to Do a update for the other phones ?
Wow!! They're being shipped S-Off now? You guys are lucky!!
nope

Nope this has been happening since day one in Canada, i have no idea why
I want to know too。
Lol lucky people. If only my Inc S was shipped S-OFF. :'c.
Well I suppose it's my own fault though.
I was actually stupid enough to update it fully (2.30.405.1) before even exploring my options on XDA :l.
Oh well. Challenge accepted ;D
Here's to hoping AlphaRevX will find a temproot.

[Q] Moonshine or Revolution?

Hi guys, about to S-Off, which version is better as I know each version provides the end result differently, i.e hacked hboot etc, can anyone provide the Info for each version please.
Both are very published and will work.
I personally used revone because I wasn't near a pc (it can be done in terminal emulator) I think that moonshine is less buggy by looking at the posts in that thread. You just have to have knowledge of Linux live cds which are a breeze to use.
Sent from my Tricked out HTC One
I personally used rev's version cos that was what I saw first. I'm not too sure who the moonshine group are, but I do know Revolution
Used revone, super easy.

Ditto.
My vote goes to revone. As simple as 1, 2, 3.
Revone. Doesn't require linux and firmware version doesn't matter.

HTC ONE rooted,S-Off,SuperCid
Good Thread OP. i would like to know also if there are any differences in the finished product..Any advantages to one or the other Once S-off is obtained...
Yes the rev is way easier but...... i went with moonshine because of 1 statement from the revone op..

What is "EARLY ACCESS PREVIEW"?
We want to give you S-OFF as soon as practically possible so an early access preview release is not a polished product but it does work (mostly).

That kind of made my mind up for me. What parts are not working would be my question...or what isnt working as good as you want it to?
What will a polished product that always works be like compared to a non polished version that mostly works..
Fuses and Beaups held out for weeks testing to make sure there wasnt any issues. for that I drink moonshine
I used ubuntu live CD and was done in 5 minutes.

Fuses who's part of the moonshine group is also known as JuopunutBear of unlimited.io group. Not sure why they've seperated though...
I used revone because moonshine don't support my device.
If you just try to S-On with moonshine, I heard you can brick your device due to the custom hboot, but I haven't verified that.
revone seem to have a more cautious approach to their wording, but that's not to take anything away from moonshine.
i used revone. Took 2 minutes including download + terminal emulator time. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the moonshine custom hboot. I can flash my own hboot though.
Rev
Reasons
1. Works on any Terminal
2. Does not require Unlocked
3. Had tamper resets and lock reversal clearly built in
As I'm used to doing the S-OFFs by Revone, I used theirs.
