Am trying to unlock my n1 so I can get to install cyanogen rom but am stuck after installing Android sdk and Usb drivers, am following some steps but am stuck trying to locate the USB driver, this is part of what was stated in the direction (You can check if your Android USB drivers are installed by going to “Printers & Devices” on Windows 7.* (and I think you can check Device Manager for other versions of Windows). I check the device manager on my pc and still didn't locate it,anybody have an idea like where I can find the USB drivers.
this has been discussed 100 times and is also in the "informative links" sticky.
Please do a search. The driver comes with the SDK.
Hi,
If you're on Windows 7 (probably not exclusive to that Windows version) and can't get ADB to work due to not being able to find drivers that work, use the ones labelled "HTC Android USB Driver for Microsoft PC" from ht*p://developer.htc.com/ (not allowed to post a direct link due to my post count...).
Do this:
Extract the drivers to a folder;
Make sure the X1 is in debugging mode and plug the device in;
Run Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and find the "XDA" device (which should be unknown)
Double-click it, choose Update Driver and point the wizard to the folder where you extracted the drivers. Enjoy!
Thanks! will try soon

I had just the same problems when using the CM7 mod for the first time... I also searched for driver and installed many things without knowing if it will work... then just tried to connect the device with usb-debugging mode and windows (7) suddenly installed some drivers and my phone got connected to my pc...
You need an extra driver for XP
For XP an extra driver (Remote_NDIS_based_Internet_Sharing_Device) needs to be installed for tethering
See this thread for the driver:
