Anyone else experiencing this?
Each time I use ICS on my HD7 (T-mobile stock with all current updates) my Zune wireless sync stops working, it simply never syncs with the machine regardless of power state or wireless signal strength.
If I connect via USB and reconfigure for wireless sync in the Zune software it functions perfectly from that point forward until the next time I use ICS, then the cycle repeats.
Anyone, Bueller, anyone?
same here
Thanks for posting your question. I didn't notice mine was not working until I saw your post and tried. So, this morning I went through the the brief wireless sync setup and I will report back if that fixed it.
Also, I have noticed after enabling internet sharing, sometimes I have to restart my phone before wifi will work again.
PS. I am running the Deepshining ROM v2 with TMOUS
working now
So, wireless syncing worked tonight after simply going through the setup process on zune this morning. Next I am going to enable/disable internet sharing and test again. I will report back soon.

That was fast. Wireless sync just happened after enable/disable of isharing. So it appears just re-setting of the wireless sync in zune is the fix. I will repost if anything changes. Hope this helps!
anyone
anybody else noticed this or have anything to add? I planned on resetting my phone tonight (which changes the MAC) and trying again.
I am going to consider mine fixed
I am going to consider mine fixed. Did a reboot and syncing still worked. Seems just going through the wireless sync setup again has fixed mine.
broken again
ok. I noticed today that my phone has not synced since 12/3. I'm not sure what has changed, but it stopped again. I re-setup wireless syncing through zune again, and it now working. I noticed that the first time my phone wirelessly connects to my laptop to sync, my laptop pops up and indicator saying a driver for my windows phone has been installed. I have not done much with my laptop since the last fix, so I thinking its more on the phone side.
Anyone have any thoughts?
running DS v2 with TMOUS and laptop has W7 home premium
I'm beginning to notice that the wireless sync is breaking regardless of whether I use ICS or not. I thought that was the correlation but no.
Perhaps thewireless sync is bound to the MAC and the MAC is changing after phone reset is the real problem?
Running 7720 TMO stock, haven't received 7740 yet so not sure if that resolves the issue.
The wireless sync problems is caused by random mac#, I had this problem too. Not sure when we'll see an update.
reset
I have confirmed the wireless sync being broken after phone reset. I also believe that is due to MAC randomizing. Knowing is half the battle.
yes you can.

Hi all,
Here's a strange one for you, my data connection on my phone was working fine since I've got it (since launch) but all of a sudden, over the last few days, it now can't stay alive for over a couple of hours. To be more precise, it does stay connected, but looses the ability to do anything, for example, active sync sits there "waiting for network" and opera sits there "looking for host" and I can't view anything. It works fine before then, then just suddenly stops. Anyone got any suggestions on what this could be? It's really annoying because it means that my emails suddenly don't get sent through, and I never know when it's stopped working unless I manually check.
Regards,
DragonStar
I got the exact same problem, the only thing I didn't do so far is a hard reset...
The weird thing is that it DOES WORK for lets say the weather plugin in the today screen, but IE, opera, nothing else works
I'm having this same issue with panosha's v2 rom. Weather works ok, but nothing else. I really need it for activesync, and that just comes back and tells me I have permission issues, yet when I soft reset, it works just fine.
Sounds like activesync is the culprit here. Are you using activesync when the data quits working? cause i've had lots of issues with activesync screwing up my data connection.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360268
that is my response to how i get activesync to work and keep my computer connection separate from my phone's connection. If the problem described isn't the exact same thing i'm guessing that it something similar. i would suspect that somehow the settings in your network selection drop downs have been changed.
hope this will help in some way.
Hi there,
I'm using my own 6.5 (custom) Rom (Build 23004). I use an hosted exchange
server for Direct Push. Syncing is working well without any errors. But sometimes
it just looses the connection and Active Sync tells me: "Last synchronized: ...".
Then i hit Synchronize and it stays connected for some time again.
This happens to me since a long time, I can't remember if this happened to me
using 6.1 Builds. But as far as I know I didn't get this issue using the stock Rom.
This issue is really annoying as WiMo doesn't even notify me about loosing the
connection, and then even "check email every X minutes works better.
Does anyone know a solution? I don't like to get back the "ugly" stock Rom.
P.S: I read some guys using a Tilt had this issue as well, if not using the AT&T
stock Rom, but the HTC one.
Edit: In the Attachment is the Active Sync log. Disconnect was at 10:35. Don't know if this helps.

For some time now I use 6.5 ROMs together with hosted Exchange and the problem you discribe hasn't occured to me once (been using 6.5 builds for about 3 months now).
Have you contacted your hosting provider? Maybe it's a setting in Exchange that causes the disconnect.
Not yet, I didn't think it was related to them. I'll write them a mail tomorrow, too late right now. A good input.
At least I know right now the problem isn't related to wm6.5 custom Roms.
Thanks for your answer.
Alright, I'm getting closer now.
Just taping "Synchronize" doesn't reestablish the connection. The last time the
error was probably related to bad signal (more later).
Yesterday evening the connection was lost again. It happened at 20:40. I
noticed it at about eleven o'clock and see there was no data connection. I
told active sync to synchronize, but it took twice until it finally established a
data connection. Syncing didn't work either. So I tried to access the web using
Opera, but no page was loaded, it just showed me the white screen, no error
message.
So, I turned the Phone on and off in Comm Manger, then it was working again.
I checked the log and it gave this line:
#2009-07-18 21:02:26.0000 AutdPing Ping received. HR = 85020003
At 21:02, there was the first sync attemp after the sync at 20:40.
The error code 85020003 tells me there is something wrong with the data
connection (conn mgr).
In Active Sync I get the error code 0x80072efd which is also related to
network problems.
So the problem is more complex I originally thought.
I'm really confused right now. Please, somebody got an advice?
Googled a bit trying to figure out what the error code means, some state you need to uncheck the proxyserver checkbox in your advanced connection settings. Others say uncheck the use SSL connection in your activesync settings. But none seem to be a conclusive solutions for everyone, so you can a least try.
Will try to find more....

Thanks for your commitment Lokatho.
I've been searching a lot, but didn't find anything that seems to be related to my problem.
I think this behaviour isn't related to Active Sync actually. It rather seems to be a
problem with the connection. All articles I found only describe errors coming from Active
Sync itself.
The weired thing is that toggling the Data Connection on/off doesn't help. My device
won't connect to the Internet any more (using 3G/GPRS). Only disabling and reenabling
the phone makes it work again. The error only appears after hours of usage up to a day
or more.
Seems like I need to return to stock rom for further investigation soon.
PS: Didn't contact my hosting provider as I'm moving to a better (cheaper, more storage, exchange 2007 instead of 2003) one right now, let's see.
Alright, I think I found the solution. I disabled HSDPA/HSUPA as my phone
only wanted to connect to my carrier data connection if this option was unused.
Now I turned it on again, my data connection was still working, and the issue
seems to be gone! Now I have to wait further (working for 2 days now). I'm
really happy now it's gone. Remember this if your running into strange
problems with your data connection
Hi, my main phone is a Desire, but I am helping my brother set up his new Nexus One. I am very familiar with the OS, but am having problems getting Gmail to sync properly. For some reason, it only seems to sync when plugged in!
This is using WiFi and 3G connections. I have checked all the obvious settings (yes, WiFi is set not to sleep)
I have both phones unplugged, and send an email to each. The Desire gets it (the LED blinks right away) while the N1 doesn't. But as soon as I plug the N1 in, and the lock screen is unlocked, the email comes in.
There has to be something I am missing here! Please let me know if you have any ideas. Using the OTA 2.2 update, and LauncherPro, if that matters. Everything else is stock, since I just did a hard reset trying to figure out the issue.
Thanks!
Can anyone confirm whether this is a bug in the 2.2 firmware?

Definitely not. Sync works just fine for me.
I have no idea how I am going to troubleshoot this.. Any ideas?
OK it seems to sync fine on 3G, but not Wifi, when the screen is off. So even though we have WiFi set to never sleep, it is sleeping anyway it seems.
I have a PPTP account with HideIPVPN which works perfectly on my iPod Touch and on my XP computers. It does not work on my Motorola Milestone - the connection is "successful" but no data gets through. At some point on some build of Froyo (I can't remember which), I was quite successfully able to use this VPN on my Nexus One for long extended periods to listen to Pandora Radio.
Recently I tried CyanogenMod 6 RC3, and to my disappointment, I could connect to the VPN but not get any data to go through. So I restored to my nandroid backup on FRF91 (which I'd originally applied via the pre-rooted update.zip). I retried the VPN and it works but after 30-90 seconds the data cuts out and won't work anymore.
Has anyone here had consistent success with a PPTP VPN on FRF91 or CM6 RC3? If so, did you have to do anything special to make it work?
Thanks
Charles
The "cut out" might be related to WiFi keepalive bug. Keep the phone awake and see if the connection still cuts out.

The phone remains awake the whole time. I connect to the VPN and then immediately jump to browser. I load one page and it pulls down successfully. Then I keep clicking links; after the second or third one nothing works anymore, and no apps are able to see data until I disconnect the VPN. This is reproducible.
On my iPod Touch, the same procedure does not have any trouble - I can connect to the VPN and browse for hours.
I located the post on HowardForums where I reported my success with VPN + Pandora on Froyo. It was June 6th, and at that time the latest Froyo build was FRF50.
So I've taken a nandroid backup and I'm going to try a little experiment... roll back to FRF50 via pre-rooted update.zip and see if PPTP works on that build. Don't know if my phone will have a problem with rolling backwards but worst case I can just restore.
Rollback test #1: Didn't clear data/cache first time round. Same results as before, ability to browse cuts out within about 30 seconds of the VPN connection.
Test #2: Wiped cache/data to get a blank (but still rooted) FRF50. Same results again... first page or two I browse to will load but then nothing else will.
Could rooting the phone somehow have destroyed the ability to use a PPTP VPN? So strange, I just can't figure out why it worked in June and not anymore today.
Ah well, since I can't get it working on *any* build right now, might as well go back to CM6 and try out the new stable mod. And I'll keep hoping/wishing/etc for a solution to this problem. Any ideas are welcome.
Well this is interesting. I can't get the VPN to work from my home or office wifi (and it works on both with iPod Touch) - but - when I brought my N1 into a WIND Mobile store and tried their test SIM, I was able to connect to the VPN over 3G just perfectly. The connection didn't stall out and I was able to listen to Pandora through the tunnel. This was using CyanogenMod 6.
I wonder why it's not working on wifi?
Am I the only one who cares about this, or is nobody else experiencing the same bug?
Same problem on the Galaxy S. I think its an Android issue, rather than phone. I understand, though never tested, that it works when doing VPN to a linux box, but never to windows or something like a cisco appliance.
OpenVPN works, but takes a fair amount of messing about to get it working.
On CyanogenMod 6.1 / 6.1.1, I can sometimes stay connected now to a PPTP VPN for 5-15 minutes at a time over Wifi. Not sure when it changed.
Wi-Fi stopped working on my Captivate today. The device says it is connected but I am not actually connected to my home network. The network is fine because every other wireless device in the house connects and communicates. Specs:
Slim-I897-4.2.2.build.1-OFFICIAL (note: I was using RC1 when the problem started this morning. I decided to flash the new build just now to see if that would change anything but it didn't)
straosk semaphore 3.0.66
So far I've shut it down, removed the battery, told it to forget Wi-Fi connections and re-entered them, and restarted my router (although everything else attached to it continues to work just fine). The phone wasn't shaken, stirred, dropped, wet, or abused in any way. It just stopped connecting to Wi-Fi!
Any troubleshooting advice will be greatly appreciated.

Backup your stuff (nandroid and such), factory reset and re-flash. My guess is that a setting or a file got corrupted.

Late last night one of my kids told me her phone (Pantech) didn't have wi-fi, either. Right now I'm checking the network for interference since the laptop and printer are working fine wirelessly but the phones and Wii are not. I'll post what I find out after I figure out the issue. Thanks!
Check that they're all assigned IP addresses etc. DNS error most likely, probably due to DHCP not being released fast enough and network clogging up. Happened at our work not too long ago, hope this helps.

That was it, or something like it. I changed the router over to OpenDNS, ditto for my phone, and assigned a static IP to the phone. Worked fine after that. I have no idea what changed, but you got me going in the right direction. Thanks!
No problem,
