LGNPST 1.3 Developer Edition For XDA
*DO NOT HOST/LINK/REPOST/OR ANYTHING ELSE OUT SIDE OF XDA* WITH OUT MY PERMISSION
[Questions]
Q.) Where is the Right Click Register ?
A.) I recompiled it into the installer, it will automatically install when installing LGNPST
Q.) Is the Right Click Register any different then the one I already have ?
Q.) I don't see the Register DLL in my right click menu.
A.) Most likely the right click register that you got/download/received originally came from me in the first place, this version is newer and updated. This version will install a new menu and ONLY register on dlls that can be registered, it does not show in your right click menu the whole time like the old version. It will only show when right clicking on a valid Active X dll or OCX file.
Q.) Should I remove the old LGNPST ?
A.) Yes remove all old version of LGNPST.
Q.) Can I upgrade my phone that use a .tot with this?
A.) Yes you can, VERY EASILY. You must first change the menu. To do this click (Tool) at the top menu. Click (Show Only Old UI). You will notice the upgrade tab will switch from asking for a .CAB file to a .BIN file. Just click on the little folder icon and change the FILE TYPE to .TOT, then select your .TOT file. No need for having to do any hacks or *.* or using the WRONG method to update the device.

Thank You for this thread.
7-Zip = no errors

Gracias.

7 zip would not open. Winzip would not open. Downloaded to phone. Would not open. Downloaded a second time to my phone and worked perfect. Very strange! Might be my internet connection.
Thanks for posting this!

I need help!!!! I think I soft/hard bricked my phone. I'm not sure since I can only get into Download mode. I have the .bin file and LGNPST v 1.3 and after all is in the right place and I hit start I get the ERROR: Unable loading Port Component. What does that mean??? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just had to pick this old phone and use it again and need to return to stock. It's been a really long time since I played with this phone. I can't find any instructions on using this (LGNPST 1.3) I have already deleted my old version. Are there files I need to download or does this version have everything needed included in it? Any help is very much appreciated.

You're not actually looking for a .bin file, TaviRawr...
When you get to that point where it asks you to select a .bin file, the windows open dialog box should open up.
Navigate to the folder where you have the .tot file downloaded...
In the box for file name, type *.tot and hit enter.
Now you should have a listing of the .tot file you downloaded. Click it and hit ok.
Then you should be able to flash your phone to stock.

I locate the .bin file just fine. So do I even need the .dll file? I am trying to follow the walk through exactly.
This is the guide I am using

I'm surprised that the directions don't suggest the Models folder...
Try this...
Go to wherever you have the LGNPST application installed.. For me, it was C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST
Make sure the program is currently closed...
You should have a list of folders and files, such as Components 4.0 and stuff like that ...
Right click and create a new folder and name it Models
Wherever your .dll fild is, the lgnpst_ms970.dll or whatever it's called is, copy it into the Models folder you just created..
Then, assuming you're using Windows Vista/7/8, navigate back up to the LGNPST folder and right click LGNPST.exe (it might say LGNPST if you have extensions hidden for known file types), and run as Administrator...
Now, when you plug your phone in, make sure it is set to Internet Connection and Debugging is on.
The program should automatically detect your phone and the .DLL model...
I'll link to a video (sorry, no audio yet) that gives you a visual briefly.
http://www.mediafire.com/?g3iccvdvmk0kvdc
It's about 85 mb...
Let me know if you have any other questions if this doesn't help.

I will try this and tell you what happens. Thank you.
---------- Post added at 06:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ----------
Do I still need to register the .dll by going into command prompt and running as admin and typing....I can't remember.

3 options:
1) Use the market to load a file manager that has the install feature. These will let you browse your sdcard and install apk files from there. Astro is a very popular file manager.
2) Install via adb and your pc.
3) Install via a terminal app using Linux commands.

Android is really great, but there a few points of Android ownership that are a bit of a pain... one of which is installing APKs on your device. Enter installAPK!
What it does
installAPK is currently for Windows only. After installation on your machine, you can double click APK files to install them on your USB attached android device. Simple as that!

Where do I get it?
Download the install EXE here - Setup.installAPK.EXE ( 785.37K )
If you are prompted for USB drivers when you connect your device, you can get those here - usbdriver.zip ( 3.14MB )

Hi glazeus,
I downloaded the usbdriver.zip file. I unzipped this file and extracted the wdfCoInstaller01......file into my Magic SD card. When I clicked on this file. it says "Windows cannot open this file", eh? What am I to do?
if none of the above works
just download eoe app installer from the market. whack the apk files onto your sd card (doesn't matter where) and when you run eoe it'll bring them up in a list.
long click > install

Restoring Samsung lock screen in Cognition

Hello, just wondering how I could restore the stock samsung lock screen (with the puzzle pieces). I'm on cognition beta 5. I have titanium backups that likely have samsung's stock lock screen (was running 2.2 leak previously) - any ideas?

Sorry guys, I had searched the cognition thread but perhaps not as awesomely/thoroughly as you had.
I am not one to bother posting and waiting for an answer when I can find it through a simple search. Looks like I didn't use the system correctly this time. Thanks for humoring me anyway and including the relevant search result.

Quick question--is that the Eclair or Froyo lockscreen? Let me rephrase that--do you have to pull the lockscreen one inch, or like 3 inches? Are there any other differences between the 2.1 and 2.2 lockscreens other than the increase in distance that you have to drag the screen?

My guess is that it's the froyo one.
I don't know if it would cause issues or not but you could probably get the eclair version from the JH2/3/7 threads

It's on your phone
before you use adb you should read all of this
If you have the file on your computer, then you can use adb to push it to your phone.
In this particular case the commands would be: (replace path to android.policy.odex with the actual path to the android.policy.odex file on your computer)
adb push "path to android.policy.odex" /system/framework/android.policy.odex
chmod 644 /system/framework/android.policy.odex
Or you could just use root explorer.

First, just to be extra sure you know exactly what this is, this will make your lockscreen look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So, if your phone already looks like that, then don't mess with this.
Now, since you sound confused, I'm going to recommend you spend the $4 on "root explorer" (it's in the market, just search for it) and do this the easy way.
1. Normally this step would be to root your phone, but if you don't have this already then you are certainly already rooted. (if you are rooted there will be an app on your phone called "superuser")
1.5. download the android.policy.odex file to your phone, either through usb or just download it straight to your phone
2. download root explorer if you have not already
3. open root explorer
4. tap on "allow" when superuser pops up (if you have opened root explorer before then this will likely not happen, if you are not rooted a message will pop saying to restart the app)
5. scroll down to sdcard and choose it then look for the android.policy.odex file
6. tap and hold on that, then choose copy
7. press the back button and then scroll down to system and choose it
8. then choose framework
9. then choose "paste" at the bottom of the screen
10. then choose yes to overwrite the old file
11. then tap and hold on "android.policy.odex" and choose permissions
12. then check all the boxes in the left column (read) and only the first box in the middle column (write) and none of the boxes in the right column (execute)
13. choose ok
14. turn your phone off and then back on
15. enjoy

So is there a way to do this then? I really like b8, but would like it more with the samsung lock screen.
Last night I was able to get the launcher working but when I tried using a couple different sources for the lock screen I ended up stuck in a boot loop.
A solution for this would be greatly appreciated.

While my LG Black doesn't arrive I don't have a way to toy around with it since KDZ files come with a WDB inside (which can't be unpacked) unlike the DZ file used before.
That being said, can anyone get me a nandroid .img files?
In practice I only need boot.img and system.img but I'm a bit curious about the rest so I'd appreciate if anyone could zip them all, upload them somewhere (multiupload.com) and post here the link.
For a nandroid backup, you need cwm installed (follow the tutorial in this section), then you just need to boot into the custom recovery (use AnReboot for example) and pick backup. Afterwards, you can find the backup files in internal or external sdcard on /clockworkmod.
Thanks.

I got the img files by doing a backup with cwm. Just install cwm as it is discribed in the tutorial and go to recovery mode using anreboot. Choose the backup option at recovery UI. After that open your sdcard/clockworkmod and get the img files and thats it.

Run KDZtools inside KP500-Utils-EN.exe, input i, carriage return (to extract files from KDZ)
Enter KDZ files, D: \ ROM \ V10A_00.kdz, Enter
The same directory to find V10A_00.cab file, extract the CAB file to get dz file, Hong Kong Bank V10A as: LGP500AT-00-V10a-454-XX-OCT-05-2010 +0- DZ.dz
3) Extract the files DZ
Extract the files need to use DZExtract.exe DZ
In the command line into the ROM folder: cd D: \ ROM
In the command line, enter D: \ KDZtools \ DZExtract.exe-x LGP500AT-00-V10a-454-XX-OCT-05-2010 +0- DZ.dz
Completed in the current folder will be a lot of files, which boot.img, system.mbn_0, system.mbn_1, system.mbn_2 we need the file.
4) merge and extract system.mbn
System.mbn to extract three files must first be combined to continue the command line, enter: copy / b system.mbn_0 + system.mbn_1 + system.mbn_2 system.mbn
Will system.mbn to a new folder, for example D: \ ROM \ system, enter the command: D: \ KDZtools \ unyaffsmbn.exe system.mbn
After completion of the official rom will be in system directory of all files, then you can delete system.mbn the.
5) Production of basic rom package
With 7-zip or winrar and other tools to create a zip format compressed archive
Step 3 will be the boot.img and 4 together to get the system folder into the directory with the compressed package to save.
Note: v10e, v10b etc. 2.2.1 version of the rom can not require special handling or root, as follows:
system / bin folder, delete all the file size of 28 bytes of system files.
Here we have a base rom package, you can begin to develop after a rom.
(2) customize their own ROM
Here you can own the "custom ROM" gorilla in the kitchen area to use the system"

I'm also confused about how to replace the file.. A video would be super helpful!
Here are step by step instructions describing how I did it. Pretty straight forward, but I can understand being confused if you've never done this sort of thing before. Of course your bootloader must be unlocked. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope this helps.
1) Download power.shamu.zip to your computer
2) Extract power.shamu.so from the zip file. Save to your computer.
3) Re-name power.shamu.so to something else; I used power.shamu.dt2w.so
4) Transfer power.shamu.dt2w.so to your phone.
5) Using Root Explorer (or any other root level file manager) move power.shamu.dt2w.so to the directory /system/lib/hw
6) You will now have the both the existing power.shamu.so file, as well as the new power.shamu.dt2w.so in that directory.
7) Rename the original power.shamu.so to power.shamu.so.bak. This can be done by long pressing on the file and choosing "Rename"
8) Rename the new power.shamu.dt2w.so to power.shamu.so. Again, done by long pressing on the file and choosing "Rename"
9) Long press on your new, renamed power.shamu.so and choose “Permissions”
10) Change permissions to 644, AKA: check the “Read” boxes next to Owner, Group and Others, and the “Write” box next to Owner. All other boxes should remain un-checked.
11) Click “Ok”
12) Back out to your home screen.
13) Reboot. All done.

copy the attached power.shamu.so to /system/lib/hw/

however required a unlocked boot loader.
you can use TWRP file manager to replace below files. (hence not needing root).

protected read-only folder when coping to system folder
Hi I'm new to the forum and I'm hopping to find an answer to my problem.
I have unlock my bootloader on nexus 6 but I am unable to copy power.shamu file to the correct folder using any root explorers. I'm restricted as the folder is protected as read-only. Is there solution for this?

No I haven't as I was trying to enable double tap to wake without root. I do have few banking apps which require root device for security reasons.

You cannot modify /system whilst android is running.
You'll need to fastboot flash TWRP recovery, boot into recovery and adb push the file. You should definitely take a backup via recovery first.
If you need pointers, go to General > all in one thread. Question 28 links to my adb and fastboot thread
how to change permissions
Hi I have unlocked the bootloader and pasted the power.shamu file using Astro file manager. But now when I try to see the properties of the file, I only see regular information like file size, date modified, etc. Can you please tell me how to set up permissions.

How does it work? I did all of these steps, but as far as I can tell nothing is different. When I turn the screen off and tap the screen twice it doesn't wake up and there isn't any new setting that I can find.
*Edit* Never mind I got it. Don't know what was wrong the first time, but I did it over again and now it works, awesome thanks!!
Glad it worked for you

MOTO MAXX / DROID TURBO / X STYLE LOGOs BIN

I made some LOGOs.bin for our Moto Maxx, I believe this will work on Droid Turbo and X Style, but I can't confirm without the device in my hands. (resolution=1440 x 2560) Try at your own risk.
INSTALL MODE: Install Drivers in your PC, enable USB debugging (or load bootloader), download and run *.exe of your choose .

IF you are referring to the links in post #1, I just tried the last 2 working from the bottom up and YES the links caused a file to download to my PC from a Google Drive. But using my PC web browser, they seem to be downloading as .exe files, which makes no sense.
You can't run .exe files on an Android, and why would you need Windows .exe files for an Android boot logo on a PC? An EXE file is to INSTALL something on a PC. I scanned with Malwarebytes and there was no threat detected.
I took a peak at one using 7-Zip and Resource Hacker. Using 7-Zip, I found it is a compressed file that contains: ADB, mfastboot, AdbWinUsbApi.dll, AdbWinApi.dll, a logo.bin file, a copy of the image in JPG format, an icon file, and a command file to automate the process of flashing from Windows and open the website www.maxximizar.vai.la (redirects to maxximizar.wordpress.com) in your default browser when done. Using Resource Hacker I found it is a self-extracting archive made using WinRAR using a custom icon, so that's why it's an .exe instead of .zip, .rar, etc.

I made those EXE files because it's easier to flash logo trough fastboot commands and those EXE ia an automated way to do it on your computer. I linked the .bin files if anyone wants to do it backuping/restoring the right partition from Android terminal or third app..
