Nice guide, but as a info, the version of touch recovery included in the tool is from a chinese site, and is fully functional, only thing missing is mount usb , so, you can use with no problem, i have used it with no problem and flashed a few things with it...
Nice guide mate. Not being rude but a little correction here.. the code of updater-script to detect the hboot & flash vold.fstab accordingly is my creation.. i made it when ICS was relased for Runnymede.....

Yeah, people think, but that doesn't mean you must write that it doesn't do this or that, as you posted there, that was from another version of Touch Recovery, mention the version so people know this or that, many someone don't mind the mount-usb as there is a workaround, but when they see that cleand dalvik doesn't work or other things, they will surely panic )
For starters it is a good guide, just some polishing here and there
yesssssss you are the man.. tanks allot
Thanks Anders
Thanks mate, I wasnt not able to mount SD Card in Recovery but after following your guide now its working completly fine. Thanks a bunch mate.

Hi, i'm using Sensation XL w a Cobra rom, i got this problem trying to install various apps from market. For instance, XDA, its keep saying "Can't install on USB Storage or SD card", but some other apps can be installed just fine. Storage count: Internal 4Gb, Phone Storage 8.89Gb - So i don't really know what's going on.
Also did try to fix it with this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965039, but the XL doesn't have a removable SD card, so ... there's no "unmount"
So i heard about your fix, tried it, but it stays the same.
It would be really great if you can help me out.

Hi,
It's been about a year since I've messed about with my XL, I flashed it the day I got it as usual, but then a few months later the speaker broke. So I unrooted, re-locked etc, and after spending 10 months psyching myself up to be without my phone for a week, I eventually sent it off for repair. I've had it back a month or so, and got a bee in my bonet last night, and decided to go custom again. I decided to go for Evervolv, and went through the processes again (in a much easier fashion than it was in Nov 11 when I got my phone). Anyway, having made several mistakes, and attempted short-cuts, to eventually go back to doing it the way i did it last time (China ROM etc), I eventually got my phone booting again. It is all working nice (big thanks to the team behind the ROM - love it, and big thanks to Vertigo and Shinger5 for some of the guides), but I had no usable SD card. So more searching and came accross this thread, and got a little stumbled at point 6 of second method (XL Tool). So decided to d/l the JB fix, and side load it. This now gives me an SD card, but only 236kb. I have no idea what I've done wrong, and short of starting again to eliminate the lack of sleep having influence, I don't know what to do.
Any ideas anyone?

[THIS HAS SINCE BEEN RESOLVED...THE RUU FINALLY WORKED THIS MORNING.]
I know... you're probably thinking "you and half of all the people on here tonight" but... I attempted to update to ICS using the directions at the link below and something went wrong. I am always very careful to read and re-read before doing a step but the phone didn't cooperate.
I got down to step 15 and after that it automatically rebooted or something and it seems from there I can't do step 16, 17 and on. I can get to HBOOT but it never asked to update the PH39IMG. I am showing *** RELOCKED *** at the top.
What do I need to do now? Now if I try to boot the phone up I get stuck at the HTC splash screen. Or I can get into fastboot and the computer sees the device.
Link w/ directions I followed: http://www.androidauthority.com/vivi...nse-3-6-63538/
Again, sorry to be "one of those guys" but I'm stuck and, as you can imagine, frustrated that my beloved Vivid is in brick or paperweight form right now...
Seriously, thanks to anyone for your help!
Anyone? I can get into fastboot and send commands from the computer. Can someone tell me what to do next to get my wonderful Vivid back?
Thank you much!

I read elsewhere a response to similar issue was "just run the RUU when the phone is connected" but...will that work?
OK, UPDATE:
I was able to run the RUU this morning and it worked. Not sure why it wouldn't last night but it did this morning. So, ignore this now.

erm s-off can only be given via the xtc clip unless it has proper support from other developers else where.
yes it can....if you have done your bootloader then don't bother.
if you haven't done your bootloader and s-off u will require the bootloader to be unlocked afterwards...good luck.
as for temple run it will never run on this phone!
if this is all your wanting it for give up now!
Don't need soff just unlock bootloader from HTC site. Then can install custom Rom or fix low memory problems.ie:data2sd and bigbearevorom. Search and read development thread. Much better phone once unlocked.

erm with great difficulty. u maybe be able to root the device without usb ie uploading to the sdcard, but it may not work. USB is predominantly the norm and hasn't be tested fully any other way.
U will need a recovery installed to access the dta2sd script. as of yet the only working way is via USB to install recovery. I have personally tried many ways when we first got this handset. How did it brake? how did u fix? If the usb was faulty i would have repair shopped it myself. Also u require Unlocking of boot-loader
Summary
Unlocking of Bootloader >USB Only
Install Recovery >USB
Root >USB (possible Uploading a file to sdcard, but would need specialist program to Root the device)
Even if u got root with an external source, you couldn't have extra memory without the above!
maybe z4root works in salsa. you can test it if you want.

Not really a helpful response.. I'm quite aware it says that, as I've already stated that in my original post. Once I have flashed the rom and other file, do I flash the boot.img file before or after restarting the phone?

Internal SD Card recognized but will not mount!
Hey,
I recently rooted my HTC Vivid (ATT) and installed CyanogenMod version 10-20131006-NIGHTLY-holiday. Everything works fine but I cant get the internal sd card to mount. There is an option in the storage setting that say "mount internal sd card." When I press that it appears as if it is mounting then it Apps, Pictures, videos, Audio(music, ringtone..... etc. Almost right after you press that it goes back to the mount sd card button. I have flashed the boot.img, used the terminal emulator and still have the same problem! I would really really (and just to drive it home) REALLY appreciate it if someone would help me with this!
If you need more info or would like to contact me to help me just email me at [email protected]
You can also just message me here if you wish.

so when you boot to recovery, what does it say? Is it TWRP, CWM, WCX?
In all likelihood, you've lost the data on your internal storage. Rignfool has posted a fix for this issue countless times, and a quick forum search should come up with a topic where he outlines how to fix it. It involves mounting your phone via the recovery, and letting your windows computer fix/format the internal SD.

Its WCX. Sorry to be so naive but I looked and could not find Regnfool's post. Could you send a link to a few of them? I dont know if this helps but what I want to fix is the apps that use the sd card. Some apps that I know stored info on the sd card on my stock rom will work but are reset after I am finished using them. So bassically apps with save data half work due to this issue. Once again this is the first time I have ever rooted and installed a ROM so im a "rookie" just needing help.

Not a problem! It's an issue a lot of people (including me) have run into while doing stuff. Just count yourself lucky your charge port was working! (mine was not at the time, and was much more of a headache).
not sure what happened people but my sprint htc one wont boot anything up, tried fastboot and tried to side load. My computer wont read the phone to do a side push. so my question is what options do i have to possibly fix this? thanks in advance for any and all help.

Sorry to hear that. He must have gotten to recovery somehow and wiped everything. The easiest way is to flash a new rom from usb storage, much easier than sideloading (need drivers, etc). And next time better add a lock code [emoji6]

I accidentally wiped all the data on my HTC in TWRP as I was trying to upgrade to a different ROM, but it failed.
I can get into BOOTLOADER, but it comes up saying *** TAMPERED *** and *** UNLOCKED ***.
I can also get into Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.3.3.
When the phone boots it stays on the HTC screen and doesn't get any further because there's no ROM installed.
I've heard of ADB to try and push the ROM onto the phone, but can't find a tutorial on how to do it.
Any help which be much appreciated.
