[Q] Flash and reflash Desire C - HTC Desire C

How many times the internal rom supports flash of a new kernel?
There is a counter of how many times I flashed the device?
Thank's to forum for space.

Is Regular flashing safe?

Hi All,
I've been using blackstone for quiet some time, I'm started to develop interested in cooked ROM after my first flash with Dutty, now I've flashed 3 times in three days, and also downloaded bunch of ROMs.
IS IT SAFE TO FLASH REGULARLY?
how many times I can flash?
I'M USING USPL.
I find many useful posts/links/threads in this forum, but no where mentioned in otherwords I can't find an answer to my query.
I hope I'll get some support here.
I'm very eagerly waiting.
THanks to all.

As long as you follow proper procedures/guidelines then yes it is safe. I have flashed 200-300+ roms and have had no issues. Some users have re-ported that they can get some issues from constant flashing, but this is solved by restroing stock rom and then flashing back to cooked rom

?? You never tried another rom, but already flashed 200 ??
The best rom is the rom that best suits YOUR needs, so nobody could really help you.
Do a backup and try for yourself.
Damn....close this thread already. You ain't suppose to be asking newbie questions like which ROM is best in the development forum.

So you make thread for opinion? If you flashd 200 roms, then We should ask you what is best rom. Com on! Just read the posts in different rom threads. How can you tell what is best rom with only two ore three posts than are stupid to even answer to this thread. I think i am going to make a thread to find out what the most weird thread here in development is. Lol
guys whats wrong ?
for note i have not tried one but i have used a lot of other androids, s2 and all and have done in around flashes there, and why is is a problem for a thread i mean no offence to any

You put a question in the dev section. Just pm a mod and ask him to move it for you to q&a.

Use Darky Rom. Overclocking to 1.704 but be careful there. I overclock to 1.600. Otherwise Darky 3.1 has a nice ICS theme. Really smooth and battery life way better. Don't forget to backup first.

Maybe this thread can make a usefull thing.
A thing that i've seen on the dev thread of my older phone : a topic with
all tutos for rooting,
all roms,
all kernels
etc ...
Maybe this could be usefull?
the most useful thing you could do with this thread is CLOSE IT!

Flashing speedmod Kernel!!

Can any in expert tell me if i can flash speedmod galaxy note kernel on litening note rom 2.0 and please best way to do it?
Why should they tell you?
Everythings written in the sticky posts and in the specific kernel or rom threads.
The best way to do is reading yourself.

installing a kernel can be done three ways
1 pc odin
2 moile odin
3 clock work mod recovery
in GB based rom I prefer CWMR
@ics based rom I prefer to use mobile odin
cheers
I used the search with "litening rom speedmod" here:

Flashed suuccess and it runs awesomely great booted recovery wiped cache rebooted and flashed using litening rom tool.

Can the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S be Permanently bricked?

Hello Everyone
I have read quite a bit about flashing but have not tried it yet. I know that the phone can be soft bricked if there is some problem and can be subsequently recovered as well. I also read about something known as nand corruption and I guess that too is recoverable as well.
What I wanted to know was can this phone be permanently bricked and if yes in what cases can it be possible?
I searched google with the same question and found that there can be emmc chip failure but that affects the S2 and Galaxy Note and that too particularly the ICS roms only.
So I wanted to know what is the status of this phone as far as bricking permanently is concerned.
Regards
till what i have experienced so far that it can only be permanently bricked by throwing it on wall
P.s. till now i have flashed thousands of times...
Thanks! These kind of replies are motivating to start experimenting and trying some roms!

i would advice you to read the developer instruction carefully and in any doubt check with experience users/read comment in thread and then only flash anything...
I have expierence with sgs+, sgsII, sg5 (gt-i5500), htc one s & lg optimus x2.. the sgsII didnt worked anymore cuz a friend try'd to flash it but had no knowledge about what he is doing but then i ressurected it and now it works.. i think it is not possible to brick a phone (but i am only sure at samsung smartphones) if you do a mistake there are still ways to ressurect it if you did something wrong.

I was planning to use instructions from the website androidadvices for flashing. It has indepth tutorials. For ex-
http://androidadvices.com/update-galaxy-gt-i9000-stable-jellybean-411-firmware/#.UEe0FSK6Dsk
The tutorial for almost all roms seems to be same!
1.) Update your phone to xxjw4 through odin.
2.) Root your phone.
3.) Apply update via recovery mode.
And if you have to update another rom repeat the procedure above!
But reading few threads on XDA the information here seem very complicated for some roms! :-?

yes... few users are complaining about loosing imei and not able to connect to network... so best practice says always flash JB over ICS and ICS over GB... always flash JB over ICS....
If you need more info or links head to remics-jb thread in development section.
Its a nice rom and i am using since a long time..and you will see again me over there also.
Some Samsung phones can be bricked by flashing. The SGS is not one of them though - it's safe.
Search 'brick bug' or check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693704 for more info on which models can be bricked and how.

You meant always flash JB over gingerbread?
So that basic tutorial would suffice to flash roms?
Sure I would have a look at the remics-jb thread. Its time to do some more research now!

if you flash another phone's rom like i9100 s2 it will be bricked..Hard brick
But this is only happening if i9100 rom file has a pit file
Long story short flash an i9100 rom that has ext4.pit file, phone won't be alive... No download mode no recovery no charging animation...JTAG will be required.

mother board is fine it is just software installation
roms ect ect ?
are you able to help
First you have to clarify the state of your device:
Did you succeed in installing any Rom with Odin after you saw the error with factoryfs.img?

okay well shall we start from the beginning i havnt had any luck with it soo far battery woudnt charge so i purchased a external charger .. it wouldnt let me back into download mode because of low battery . soo battery has been in the charger now for bout a hour or so and its charging grate ive stuck the battery into the phone and now in download mode with no sweat .. its recognising on odin . which i think its 1 step good .
next i need to find a safe kernel and rom that could work onto my phone .. i dont mind if its ginger bread or ics
but i prefer ics
... im able to get into recovery mode also ??
I will not start from the beginning: obviously you didn't accept the "message": you bricked your device if Odin stopped at factoryfs.img.
So the options didn't change:
a) replace motherboard for complete repair by Samsung
b) use the workaround here in the forum with repartition (and excluding damaged sectors)

all im asking is what is a good rom to use ??? and kernel ?
it depends on you.. if you want stock and stable.. go for any latest ICS roms. JB roms are leaks so there will be bugs in them... XXLSA and XXLSC both are good. there are odin flashable roms of LSA & LSC in general and dev section of this forum
nokiamodeln91
thankyou
i want to install the stock ones for my note before i tried to flash jelly bean i was using ics but yeahh after that it wouldnt boot
soo im trying to go the safe way now
thankyou ..
flashing via Odin is always safer

There you have it all, scrool down for more...
how will i no which stock rom to use ! my note isnt brought from my country
Rom from any region will just work fine.
And still ignoring the fact that he admitted in his first of three threads: stuck in odin at factoryfs.img.
So showing him different possible Roms in the usual threads and tutorials won't help him.
If it still stops at the same step in Odin (and he didn't answer this question) he has only the two remaining options:
repair by Samsung or workaround with repartition.
yes but let him try till he gets fully satisfied.. I am not here to force anyone
