SIM Unlocked Firmware - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys I'll be getting my RAZR i soon so I wanna clear some things out if you don't mind helping a newbie
NOTE: I am experienced with root, ROM, CWM and other stuff because I am currently owning a SAMSUNG phone.
1. I'll get my phone SIM Unlocked already, if I flash other ROMs (Official and Custom), would it still accept my SIM?
2. It will come with US Firmware, if I change it to Europe or any other country will it accept my SIM?
3. Is it worth rooting? I mean going into alot of trouble for just this.
NOTES: I am living in Philippines, means no service center for Motorola, if I get bricked, then it's gonna be hard.
4. Updating the firmware on an unlocked bootloader will brick my device, does the Custom ROMs have a feature that removes the OTA Update?
5. Are there any CM 10/10.1 ROMS? Or any famous Custom ROM? If not, can you provide me the "best ROM" for Razr i? I am browsing some ROMs but I'd like to see more.
Thank you all.

So I had a talk with my cousin and it will come pre rooted and more open..
Brazil firmware...but IDK if it will affect the SIM unlock if I change firmware..

Upgrade GTS5570 to Gingerbread on carrier based phone

Hello!! I am just trying to find out how we can unlock the phones that we bought from different carrier providers and how to upgrade them manually...
Since, I don't have a carrier based phone, I'm short of ideas on this topic. So, is there anyone who has upgraded to gingerbread in a carrier based rom, please make sure you reply with all the details.
Also, I especially want to know about upgrading in a Vodafone - Italy galaxy mini phone. If anyone had tried it please share it here.
Thanks!!!
Hey
I have a carrier based phone (Comcel in Colombia) and I upgraded to GB without any problems (I used ODIN to flash GB).
SIM gets unlocked due to the fact that the whole filesystem gets rewritten, so I'd say that there's no problem in flashing different version of the OS on carrier based devices.
The only way that would be a problem is if the carrier has custom apps that report back (kinda like Verizon does in the US with some HTC devices).
For the Italian Vodafone, sorry I can't help you with that

Okk so you mean you can now use sim card from any provider after you flashed gb.... Also, will it have any effects on the performance of phone and what will happen if teh carrier gets to know about it???

Yeah, phone's now SIM unlocked, regarding perfomance (besides the obvious Froyo to GB performanc boost) there's no discernable change, there shouldn't be any change unless you're flashing a non-compatible ROM (EU rom on a 5570L or viceversa).
I'm not a lawyer but from what I've heard the only way a carrier can find out that you have a custom ROM is if you take your phone for repairs and all they can do is void your warranty, nothing more, althought I'd check the service contract in case there's something hidden in there.

can i flash this ?

Well first of all i would like to say hello to this wonderful community, I've been following threads and news on XDA for many years, since I got my Galaxy Spica, and I wanted to learn a bit more and become more active, especially in this "new world" that Motorola means to me, since the Moto X is the first device I own that is different from the Galaxy series... but well, nowdays I own an Latinamerican variant of the X, the XT1058 that came with the America Movil 4.2.2 ROM, and yesterday I just spend like 5 hours trying to flash the AT&T 4.4 Kitkat variant into it... until I Succeded, but i just has TOO MANY BLOAT , so I was wondering if it is posible to flash through RSDLite the T-Mobile 4.4 without Bricking the X... I have seen ppl XT053 ROMS on their XT1058, but I dont know what path should I follow...
1) Go back to 4.2.2 downgrading the bootloader and flashing a 4.2.2 rom and then upgrade to 4.4
2) Just flash over the AT&T ROM the TMO 4.4 one though RSDLite ?
I'm sorry if im asking things that may sound a bit noobish, but in Samsung phones everything was way too easy compared to this... it just took me hours to discove how to use the emulator in order to get the ID for the locked bootloader...
btw... also sorry for my english
thanks and greetings from Chile !!
Option number 2 - flash over the AT&T 4.4 with the tmobile 4.4 and it will work fine.

The only way to MAYBE flash ROMS is still in ALPHA testing and it is not a true flash but a way to load ROMS and fake the boot system.
Currently there is no way to flash ROMS to this phone.

From what i saw in the thread about safe strap the ROMS have to be tweaked to work with safestrap so only ROMS developed around safestrap will work.. Even then it is still iffy if they will fully work.

Solarenemy68's reply seemed easy to understand to me. Are you having difficulty understanding it? In case you did not understand it...you can NOT flash ANY rom on the att N3. None. Zip. Nadda. Nothing. The bootloader is locked. Without an unlocked bootloader, you are not currently able to flash a new rom. If you do, you will brick your N3. Period.
If you want to flash new roms on a N3, you should have purchased a T-Mo N3 as that bootloader was not locked.
I hope this clarifies things for you.

Wow! Bad day at work?
We can flash roms using safe strap recovery by @Hashcode . It works fine and even gives you "multi boot" that most devices would die for!
Roms are coming already and things are getting good. International roms can be ported. T-Mobile roms run without much of a fuss.
We CANNOT flash bootloader, kernels, or modems. But with a locked bootloader this is about as good as it gets.
If your going to give someone information, at least give them correct information.

Didn't have a bad day. Didn't intend to sound rude. Your signature indicates that you have a N9005 not a N900A. If I am mistaken, please correct me. I've had a N900A since launch day and have been following the development quite closely, I thought. While the N9005 and the N900T have unlocked bootloaders, I have not seen anything other than alpha testing for the N900A, and @Hashcode has not yet released Safestrap for the N900A.
Please post some links for loading roms onto the N900A, or apologize as it is you that seems to be providing the incorrect information that can potentially damage someone's device. If you are correct about SAFELY flashing roms onto the n900A, I will post an apology to you and the OP.
Thank you.

I do indeed apologize. SS became available on the 16th and the first flashable rom became available yesterday. I missed both.
Apparently, roms are now flashable via SafeStrap. My apologies to the OP as well.

Odd way to unlock bell xperia z or t-mobile xperia z bootloader?

Hey guys,
I own both the bell version of the xperia z, and the T-Mobile version. I ONLY want to use them as glorified tablets. Basically like the Ipod touch version of the iPhone, I want to use them unactivated. For me, its all about customibility and I really want to unlock the bootloader. I know neither of these can be unlocked, but in theory, if i wrote the software of the global unlockable versions (c6602/c6603) which DO allow for unlocked bootloader, would I be able to do it? I know signal would be screwy with the radios, but i dont care since thats irrelevant to me. Any help would be great, thanks guys.

Short answer: Never going to happen.
So its impossible to write c6602/3 software to it? Longer answer would be nice : P

Sorry, you can't unlock the bootloader if a device says: "bootloader unlock allowed: no" which is if you have a branded device. If you try it, you'd better throw it away.
If u can root everything is possible. As long as there's someone who provide geeky solutions
And under your situation u don't need flash different rom as there's a way to install recovery without unlocked bootloader in rooted phone.

hey, thanks a ton for the responses guys! So, is there ANY possible way I can get cyanogenmod installed on either my c6616 or c6606? (Bell and t-mobile)w
I don't have your phones so I cannot guaranty but you can try my method.
I got a c6603 from vodafone, and use ota to update to 4.3.
Since the 4.3 cannot root and I dont want unlock bl. so I use these steps
1. downgrade phone by flashtool to a version which can be rooted.
2. root
3. install recovery in locked BL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...cked-bootloader-cwm-recovery-6-0-2-8-t2187363
4. Choose whatever rom you like and flash it.
DONE!
You cannot use custom kernels on a locked bootloader, so you cannot run CM, PA, AOSP etc.
Stock based roms only. There's no way around it.

Awesome tips guys! Got recovery working and its all good- just ONE last thing:
are there any vanilla style roms out there like cyanogen that are stock based? I just want my pure android with some nice customizable features, no kernel updates or anything. Can you suggest any?

Do I have T-Mobile Branding ?!

Hey guys,
I am a bit confused about all that branding stuff. I live in Germany and I got my phone from "Telekom" with branding.
Is Telekom = T-Mobile Branding ? And yes I get this ·T··· Logo on Bootup.
Also if it's T-Mobile Branding is there anything specific I have to look at ? Because I want to root and unlock my phone and remove the branding.
Also I want the posssibility to switch to a custom ROM. I saw there are two sections for Galaxy S6, one normal and the other one t-mobile.
Can I also just use the ROMs and rooting methods from the the normal section or do I need to stay in the T-Mobile section ? I am really confused with
all this branding **** and the differences between the devices.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S6 (Bought from Telekom with Branding in Germany)
Modelnumber: SM-G920F
Android-Version: 5.1.1
Even though your device may be T-Mobile, your section is actually the normal S6 section, this is for T-Mobile USA branded devices G920T

thank you vor clarifying this out. Anyways so I will be possible to just flash a rom with odin and everything is ok or do I need to root and unlock first before flashing anything via odin, like AOSP roms ?!

You can't flash Roms with Odin, you need a custom recovery. You can flash firmware, kernel, modems or recovery with Odin. There are no aosp roms for the S6, they will all be based off samsung firmware

Wait ONLY TouchWiz roms are available for Samsung Galaxy S6 ?! why ?
Another thing. If I want to flash recovery on my branded phone, do I just flash a recovery or do I need to root and unlock first ?!
Also what happens with the branding and the simlock ?!
Yes only TouchWiz. Has to do with some Samsung sources being closed for their chips I believe.
Depending on what firmware, all you have to do is go into developer options, turn on OEM Unlocking, after that you can flash custom recovery.
Branding will stay the same unless you flash another rom.
Sim lock will stay the same. So if it's locked to T-Mobile it'll stay locked

It will not unlock by just flashing a debranded rom, you need another method. If you couldn't find that option in developer options then you have an older firmware and the option is not needed. I recommend you search your section for more info. There is a lot of things to learn about this device
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
That happened to me... I could not find the option "OEM Unlocking"
It was changed places.
Now it is in "Lock screen and segurity" -> "Unknown sources"
I do not know if it is really equivalent, but must be active if you want to install software from the same phone or sdcard.
