Should I wait for the iPhone 5 or buy an Android Phone now?

I have a 16 GB iphone 4 that I have had for about 1 years. I recently dropped and now have a couple of lines of dead pixels at the top of the screen. I really want a phone with a bigger screen .Will iPhone 5 have a bigger screen?I once found an android phone.not the Samsung Galaxy.but it have a so big screen.and i like it

Well if the screen size is all you are concerned with, go Android. But if you prefer better hardware, more functional software, better support, easier mods, and cheaper apps you need to definitely go with....wait.... Android there too.

If you want something functional take an android, and yes there are loads of screen sizes to choose from, while devices by the fruit dont have much variation

i will make this simple for you... if you dont know much about computers or electronics, and dont care to. get an iphone. if are a huge techy guy, and plan on being a power user of your phone (somebody who treats it more like a computer and not a phone) then do yourself a favor and get a high end android phone - top of the line, cutting edge.
iphones are bland, for soccer moms, and people who love having AMAZING hardware, with no in depth user functionality.
IF YOU LIKE PLAYING ANGRY BIRDS... AND TEXTING... AND CHECKING EMAILS...AND THAT'S IT........ get an iphone.

With all the joking in this thread I think I should step in and be the serious one. I would not buy either phone for the next two weeks. The iPhone 5 announcement and also a Samnsung event with google are both scheduled for the next two weeks and if at all possible I would wait for these events. The Nexus Prime and the iPhone 5 will be cutting edge when they are released.

You should sellout and buy a WP7 device.

I'm waiting for the iPhone 5. If it looks something like this mockup (check the video), i'm sold.

Riskier than S4?

Hi, I live in South America, I have a brother who lives in the US and I'll be travelling soon so I was planning on upgrading my S3 and after some research I was very excited about asking him to buy me the One Developer edition.
Today I started reading here about all the quality problems that plague HTC's incredible release (gaps, scratches/dents, dead/stuck pixels, speaker problems) and I'm a bit worried because if the phone is defective or breaks afterwards I won't be able to replace it, so now I'm thinking of buying the S4, which now I think is a safer bet, but sadly it was also a safer bet from Samsung's part and I really liked the more ambicious approach that HTC made.
What do you guys think? Would you buy the One knowing that you wouldn't be able to replace it in case it is defective or breaks shortly after buying it?

It's cos he's in a completely different continent that he can't send it back.... Did you even read the first sentence??

I have never heard of any of those issues. One dude did post about their speaker not working, but that's the 1st case I've seen of it. I read a lot of tech blogs and I haven't see them post about arising issues.
So I feel you'll be safe. But then again, I've only read about the carrier versions and not the Dev. Editions. Why do you feel the S4 is a safer bet? Have you not read about any issues with it? What about the 16GB version only have barely 8GB of actual usable storage? LoL!!

All the problems I mentioned are from threads here im xda, and it seems that there are lots of people that have them, especially the stuck pixels problem.
They are not problems of the Dev edition, they are of the One in general.
I have read about people complaining about S4 cracked screens, but there aren't many cases considering the amount of S4s sold and it also can't be said that they are caused because of manufacturing or design problems, I also have the (maybe wrong) impression that Samsung being so much bigger and wealthier has more capacity to overengineer and exhaustively test their phones, every review talks about the HTC having a better build quality, but that only refers to the case material and not the real build quality which can't be tested just by touching it.
The storage is one of the S4 main disadvantages, but now I have a 16GB S3 with a 64GB microSD and it's not so bad, only problem is not being able to have many 1gb+ games

You'll be fine. This website is only a very tiny fraction of the total user base, and then only a few people from this website even had major problems.

those people talking about stuck or dead pixels are being to anal. most of the time you will never even know they are there unless you use an app that tests them. 468ppi on this phone. ive seen the stuck pixels thread and if you really want to complain about 1 or 2 pixels then you have never owned an lcd tv there is an allowance in the warranty for dead pixels and 1 or 2 will not get you a new tv

Show me a phone a month after its release with absolutely -0- *****es about anything being wrong with it. Its impossible. Everything has some percent of problems.

The plastic housing and all glass front is too fragile, I don't tend to drop my phone that's why it doesn't have a case, but with these phones you drop it once and you are done

It heard you talking about buying an HTC as your next phone. So it hurled itself off the desk as a half hearted attempt at sympathy. Ive seen it a million times. Dont fall for it.

You probably decreased the odds of having one of these problems just by opening a thread on XDA wondering about these problems! XDA is a small community and remember HTC said they sold 5 million of these devices. Just don't actively look for a problem. If you do, you'll find one

GS4 owner just got a Nexus 5, and its great

The Nexus 5 looks big in pictures but is actually smaller than my galaxy s4 with a very thin case on the G4. And the Nexus doesn't need a case because the back is is rubbery and grippy, beautiful! Also, it feels absolutely premium in terms of build quality and materials.
The screen is brilliant, bar none the best I've ever seen. And better than my iPhone 5.
The camera shutter sound is very subtle, in fact I'll keep it on
The navigation keys are a lot closer so it's a lot easier to use one handed.
Speaker phone is awesome: loud and clear.
Needless to say the phone overall is as fast as all hell.
Nexus 5 screen is vastly easier to read in direct sunlight
Where does the Galaxy s4 beat the Nexus? So far all I've found is the speaker volume, which seems to be a little low when playing videos. That and the replaceable battery and memory card slot.
Its my first day with the Nexus 5, and so far, so good.
Just thought I'd give a little feedback for those of you who are on the fence about switching. I have both at the moment, but my S4 may soon be on Craigslist.

I've only taken a hand full of photos, but so far the camera looks very good. Plenty of detail and great white balance.

I've been considering switching as well - but there's a few things that keep me on the fence. The S4 has AMOLED (which I prefer to IPS, but subjective) and removable battery/microsd. And the battery is larger on the S4.
But as the other user asked, how is the camera? Apparently it's not as good due to flawed software, but there IS image stabilization. Hmm...

When you put the Nexus 5 next to the galaxy s4 with both at full brightness , the Galaxy looks muted, fuzzy, dim. Take your phone to a Best Buy or Sprint store and have a look for yourself.

Was thinking about switching myself, but I've heard mixed things about the camera. I'd have to test it myself in person before I could make a decision

I used to get all anal about about the cameras too until I realize that all I ever use the snaps for is Facebook. I have real cameras for when I get serious.

I recieve mine tomorrow. It's been real S4 gang. Great community here and I'm hoping the Nexus 5 community is as wonderful!

meh...I was really into the phone at first and was considering selling my S4, but after reading a bunch of reviews and people's opinions on it...it seems meh and I'll just stick with the S4 for now. Went to the Nexus forums and nothing but fanboys in there jumping on anybody that says anything bad about the phone and trying to defend their purchase.

The saturation is a bit over the top at default settings, but otherwise they look good to me.

I was thinking of selling my S4 for the nexus..until I seen a smaller battery. Specs mean nothing if it doesn't turn on.

Time will tell about the battery life. Some have said it's so so, and others have said it last for days between charges.

I might get the nexus. But with the wobbly buttons. Non removable battery and no Sim slot. Plus dead pixels and light leakage among other problems that's kind of scary for a phone that's just been release

I have had my N5 for a week now and its back in the box and the Play S4 takes its place, nothing about the N5 is any better than the S4 in fact its worse in available screen size, notification lights don't work and its so slippery I already dropped it twice, and the camera sucks asss, is this really the Google Flagship, I think not!!!!!!!! Not to mention the fact that the S4 has removable battery and SDcard

The screen sizes are identical but Google uses the bottom portion for its on screen controls so the screen area ends up being about 3/8" shorter than the S4, just saying that's all, maybe not everyone realises

So you think a $600 is better than a $300 phone? okay...

So? She's one reviewer. Displaymate who does the most exhaustive objective mobile device display testing on the Internet thought the S' AMOLED display was brilliant (and backed it up with hard numbers). Why is Erica's repetitive, grating, and subjective hyena screeching video more valid? People should form their own opinions anyway; it's not like you can't find a S to play with and compare side-by-side to a Samsung LCD tablet.

Well, to begin with, most people who have discovered this site are of mostly two camps:
They already own the Tab S
Or they are going to buy it no matter what you said.
I'm from both. I came here knowing I was going to buy my 10.5 and no matter what negatives I read about was going to deter me from my quest, not even yours if I would have read it before hand.
Maybe some mainstream forums but not here.
