I have had reports that it works for the Sprint Variant as well but I am leaving that up to your judgement as I cannot verify without the device in hand.

Instructions for customizing the bloatware removal and build.prop tweaks:
Located in "/files/bloat/nobloat.txt" is a text file named nobloat.txt, Choose "File" - Edit Bloat Removal and make your changes.
To add your customizations simply add the file name of the apk (Case Sensitive), if the apk also has a coresponding odex
file you will need to add the path to that as well following all case sensitive patterns. Be careful when adding apks to this list if you
add an apk that is required by the system to boot you will be required to flash the stock rom and start over from scratch.
To edit the build.prop tweaks use the "File" - Edit Build.prop Settings, make your changes and save the file.
To Edit the sysctl settings use the "File" - Edit sysctl Configuration, make your changes and save the file.
Once you are comfortable that you have your configurations correct you can move on to applying the features
of this toolkit to your device.

Huh. This actually worked for me. These things never work for me. There is a noticeable difference in speed.
Thanks!

Why not make it flashable?
Just a question, I see this lots of things to install and manually run why not make it flashable via CWM or TWRP???

this was designed to work with the three main 217 models since the AT&T model is the one I own i needed to create this package to work for that model.so rather than create two different packages that do the same thing i created it as a script manager based install that will work on all three devices.

should work fine on 217S as long as your running stock firmware, should work for 4.1.2 and 4.2.2

Everything i build is prefixed with "S5" actually has nothing to do with any samsung galaxy model...

Worked liked a charm! One tangible dfference I noticed right off the bat is that I can now record at higher resolution with the dashcam app I use autoboy. Before the script it would freeze when I selected 720p even though when using the regular camera it can record at 720P for autoboy it would freeze. Can't wait for other tweaks to imrpove this tablet. Thanks again for your hard work.
This worked on the T-Mobile version 217T

hmmm, should have worked for Sprint as well, could you possibly post me a copy of your build.prop i believe that may be where the issues are,
for now i have updated the OP to warn against flashing on Sprint models until i resolve the issue.

Ran this script last night on mine "Sprint" version and it seems to have installed but I was unable to locate the files you posted to look for.

[TUTORIAL][SCRIPT] V6 Supercharger Memory Fixes

I did not make this script, i only stumbled across it and wanted to share
-Thanks to zeppelinrox for making this script
Original Thread by zeppelinrox
Requirements
Rooted
Busybox 1.8.2 or lower
Rom that supports init.d
Benefits
UI is much more responsive (less lag)
More free RAM
Recommended
Install Script Manager (easier to work with than terminal IMO)
Step 1: Run the script from Script Manager with "Run as Root" option selected
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 2: Pick the scrolling speed
Step 3: Pick 11 or 12, performs the OOM Grouping Fixes (zeppelinrox recommends Hard To Kill)
-REBOOT-
The following step is setting up the minfree settings. You can select 1-9 for the preset values, or choose 10 and set your own.
Read the OP from zeppelinrox's thread for more info on what these do and tweak them to your liking.
I personally use 6,10,35,50,65,80
Step 4: Pick 1-9 preset values, or pick 10 and enter the minfree setting for each slot
-Done
sounds good, will try later
thanks!
Anyone try the script?

applied it to my phone, so far so good. getting no issues. will report back if i have any issues.
[EDIT] heres a quick overlook at what the minfree #1-6 will adjust as far as free memory goes.
FOREGROUND_APP: Current app that you are looking at.
VISIBLE_APP: A visible activity to the user.
SECONDARY_SERVER: This is a process holding a secondary server
HIDDEN_APP: This is a process only hosting activities that are not visible
CONTENT_PROVIDER: This is a process with a content provider that does not have any clients attached to it.
EMPTY_APP: This is a process without anything currently running in it.

removed Talon and put Serendipity Kernel 4.1 and huzzah! (just kept the default minfree for now)
might want to add this step in the OP. not sure how important it is.
•After installing, run the app, press the MENU button and go to MORE and then in ADVANCED OPTIONS and now in CONFIG and leave the options marked exactly as shown in the screen below:
Browse as root is not default, have to check it.

Seems the kernel optimizations in the script don't play well with Talon. The minfree settings shouldn't be a conflict though

I think thats only needed if you have the script stored in a location where you would need root to access it...(ex. /system)
Been playing with this on miui. The min field does not appear to have much effect but the 3g super charger linked in ip of original thread appears to have a nice d effect.
Top score and bottom three with
Second score without
Sent from my I897 using XDA Premium App
You need to correct the OP. There is no Busybox 1.8.2 it is 1.18.2
I also tried the 3G TurboCharger (works from HSUPA too) and my DL speed went from about 4.1 kbps to about 4.8 kbps on JJJV5 modem. Not a huge, HUGE increase but if some people are having issues with slow download speeds you might want to give it a shot. Remember to always make a backup before you try anything on your phone, no matter how "safe" or "unsafe" it claims to be.
**I did not apply or try the Kick Ass Kernel Tweak Installers
If on CM7 I'd recommend getting hard to kill plus megaRAM 2 imho, been running it along with turbocharger and kernel tweaks, on Glitch's kernel and they are sticking when I boot up even after the past couple nightly's. Also with supercharger some custom roms-as it states in the help file.
"There might be something in the init.d that interferes with priorities and minfrees, if you can't find the problem, a quick fix is to have script manager run /system/etc/init.d/99SuperCharger, "at boot" and, "as root."
Nice tutorial.
Note that you don't need to run option 11 or 12 first.
Running options 2 - 10 will always apply HTK launcher by default.
If you want bulletproof, run option 2 - 10, then run option 12, then reboot.
chrisz5z, I think it would look cool to show a screen cap of your menu after running the Cust-OOMizer... since Option 10 will then look different
Edit: I made a change to 3g TurboCharger that needs testing...
Edits to build.prop...
Code:
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
ro.ril.gprsclass=34

ro.ril.enable.gea3=1
ro.ril.enable.fd.plmn.prefix=23402,23410,23411
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
Difference between this and update 2:
ro.ril.gprsclass=34 (instead of 12)
ro.ril.htcmaskw1=268449905 (instead of 14449)
I've actually seen gprsclass=32 in the past but 12 is the most common setting so I had used 12.
After researching today, seems that 32 would indeed be better than 12 BUT there is a new gprs class 34 so this would be a first for testing it at 34! (as far as I know) lol
So, I'd be interested in seeing if this is better than the 3G TurboCharger update 2 tweak!

PREREQS
Nexus Device that has a system app you do not want
Grade school diploma (i.e. ability to read)
THE SKINNY
WHAT IS NIGHTLY UPDATER
Nightly Updater is an AROMA installer for those that
yearn to have the cleanest device. Since I first
owned an HTC Droid Eris, I have been wiping bloatware
off of my device. Flash foward to my latest devices -
LG Nexus 4 and the 2013 Asus Nexus 7 and there ain't
much bloatware... But, all AOSP ROMs tend to come with
at least one or two apps that I can do without (and
sometimes a lot more). Nightly Updater is a simple
tool that allows users to remove unwanted system
applications in an easy manner. NU also allows users
to customize which apps are removed.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Nightly Updater works by relying on scripts that
read txt files. When customizing your script, the
installer looks for junk.txt in the "NU" folder of
your virtual (i.e. internal) SD card. Each line that
has not been "commented out" (i.e. does not have a
"#" at the front of it) or any terms (i.e. app
descriptions) that follow a "#" are removed from the
script. This leaves Nightly Updater with a clean text
file that only has the applications you want to remove.
Review:
Custom Script is called: junk.txt
Custom Script goes here: /sdcard/NU/junk.txt
#Chrome.apk -- NOT DELETED FROM DEVICE
Chrome.apk -- DELETED FROM DEVICE
Chrome.apk #Google Browser -- AFTER "#" IGNORED
HOW DO I ADD MY OWN APPS
You can add your own apps in three ways: [1] name (without
apk), [2] name (with apk), or [3] file path.
[1] Name (without ".apk")... Just type:
Code:
Chrome
The installer will automatically know it is looking for an apk and
delete Chrome.apk.
[2] Name (with ".apk")... Just type:
Code:
Chrome.apk
I think you know what it does.
[3] Full File Path... Now, you can get a little funkier and do the entire
file path like:
Code:
/data/app/Chrome.apk
This comes in
handy for files like pre-loaded wallpapers and
ringtones you may want to remove. Be cognizant of
where the files you are removing are located! This
will become very important when telling Nightly
Updater where to scan.
By the way, Nightly Updater also recognizes wildcards.
This is great for those user apps that end up having
unpredictable file names. For example:
Code:
/data/app/com.google.android.youtub*.apk
com.google.android.youtube*
These are both ways of erasing YouTube regardless of
the "-X" at the end of the file name.
WHAT'S UP WITH SCANNING
When using a Custom Script, Nightly Updater asks
where you would like to scan for apps. By default,
Nightly Updater recommends you only scan in the
System/App folder - which is where (shocker) system
apps are located. Remember, most junk apps are located
in System/App. However, Nightly Updater has also given
the option to scan Data/App. Some developers will put
apps in the Data/App folder, so it may be useful to
remove apps from there. But NORMALLY, these are only
the apps you chose to install. The final option is
to scan EVERYWHERE. Be very cautious with this command!
Remember that it is matching what you write in
junk.txt with the scan parameter. If you accidentally
wrote "system" as an app you wanted to remove instead
of SystemTuner.apk (with full scan on)... you would
erase your system folder... that's REALLY BAD!!!
Now, if you only check this option when you are using
full path and double check your junk.txt file so that
you did not make any mistakes... YOU ARE GOOD!!!
When in doubt, post your junk.txt here and I will
check it over for you
WHAT'S THE DEFAULT SCRIPT
If you download junk.txt from the OP at XDA, then
you have seen the Default Script. The Default
Script is meant to remove apps that MOST people
would consider expendable. If you are nervous to
tinker with your own Custom Script, try running
the Default Script first. If the script deleted
an app you need or did not delete at app you want
to destroy - hit me up and I will walk you
through the steps.

Any chance you can put the files in a normal attachment to the post? However you've done it only works if the user has XDA 2013 beta defined as their forum theme.

I will get right on that with the next update! I'm beginning to think this DevDB thing was a mistake. Good idea in theory but is hard for mobile users and those not wanting to use the latest theme. Hopefully the next update is right around the corner :fingers-crossed:
I don't see anything really N4 specific. Have you considered placing your tool in the general android apps forum for all to use? I just upgraded a nook hd+ to carbon rom and was planning to put the nightly updater on it so thought I'd double check in case I missed something.

Mine starts with airplaine mode straight after flashing, no sound. Tried other kernels, still the same.

It is normal, i disabled all sounds and enabled airplane mode as default settings. If u disable airplane mode and enable all u want in settings all should work.
For in-call audio don't know, its a bit strange .....

Yes, it was just a toggle (however it took quite a bit to figure out that THIS was causing also the "SIM not found" message during the setup wizard; one also cannot toggle off the airplane mode until the wizard is done; maybe it's only my phone )
I have found the culprit causing no in-call sound, if OP allows, I'll add the link to the working patch here (with fixed Su, now the stock Permission works with pop-ups, also GearTools seems ok )
Good job!

It has all the files the original patch had PLUS some audio libraries added from a working Vibrant port AND replaces Su binnary in xbin folder. Hence it fixes no in-call sound issue and root problems with previous patch. Now the stock Permission Manager should be fully working, no more need for SuperSu app.
After a day of use I can say the same as some time ago with early Miui v5 builds: they are less smooth than Miui v4.1, unfortunately. Beautiful, for sure, but it is not enough (for now).
Hoewever I pray the OP to continue his work, I will be testing your builds as they come. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately more i can't do. MIUIv5 have lots of heavy stuff and our phone can't do more. The only solution (not so good) is removing many miui apps but this is useless and you can install a cm based rom if u want something really light without useful apps :/
Maybe when miui will be based on android 4.3 we will gain more performance but for now, its near the limit

Special Note:
There are few things that have changed in RC1 from the previous beta releases. They are to an extent significant and I will try to explain my reasoning behind them.
1. Private Mode - Has been removed from the build, without the accompanying knox components Private Mode remains non-functional. I know that there are ROM's out there with Private Mode working however, I have not had time to research exactly what is required in order to make it play well with custom ROMs it is possible that it just requires the missing folder structure and nothing more but I have not had time to delve into that as of yet. In deference to performance and functionality most accompanying code has been removed.
2. A.R.T. Runtime - A.R.T. runtime even on a good day is tempermental at best, Google did not intend it to be any type of daily use environment and since this ROM is de-odexed the system has a dificult time handling the conversion process from Dalvik to A.R.T. therefore I have chosen to temporarily disable this feature through the developer options in settings. All of the code for this feature still exists within the ROM itself and can be turned back on fairly easily, my intentions are to wait until Google decides if this is going to be mainstream or drops it from use.
Major enhancement to the flashing process
I have included custom scripts that are called during the flash process (I originally wrote and implemented these in the HTC forums). These scripts in conjunction with the updater-script are able to better handle the process of wiping /system and /data and also include the automatic backup and restore of all user level apps from /data/app. The scripts intentionally ignore all coresponding application data backing up only the core apk itself. this offers you a completely clean start from scratch not only for all system apps but all of your personal apps as well. Now when flashing there is no more need to remember to wipe data or system just copy the zip to your sdcard, reboot to SS Recovery and flash and your done.

Notes:
We all know how (or should at least grasp the understanding of) how init.d support works in the Android world, init.d is used by most DEVs that build ROMs or create custom performance and other enhancement mods (@zeppelinrox for instance and his famous V6 supercharger scripts, highly recommend you check these out by the way, these are probably the most comprehensive tweaks around and don't overwrite or delete any existing scripts.) make use of init.d support however, what most of us run into is when we flash a ROM that has included tweaks and performance enhancements we often lose those baseline enhancements when we flash other Mods and scripts a lot of our initial enhancements are lost in the fray never to be seen again.What I have implemented here is a whole new way of handling the KoolKit baseline performance enhancements, no matter what you install/flash/push or modify in the way of scripts or init.d, the base performance enhancements are always the initial configuration. All of my tweaks and enhancements are now handled prior to (and independant of) any init.d support. This gives you a stable starting point no matter what happens if you find your edits or mods that you tried didn't work just delete them and the KoolKit enhancements will once again be your default. This patch is optional but recommended.

init.d stability patch - Enhances the overall performance of the init.d calls (See Notes Below) - init_d_stability.zip
NOTES
int.d support is a big part of being able to apply tweaks, settings, user customizations etc. in the Android world. There are several different implementations of init.d for android, most rely on kernel and ramdisk edits others rely on the user guessing at the number of seconds to pause execution while waiting for other processes to finish. On the Contrary KoolKit init.d support requires neither kernel edits nor the users input in any fashion. My custom written sysinit waits for the boot process to report back as complete so no matter if it takes 5 seconds or 10 seconds init.d will run as soon as it gets the go ahead from the boot_completed process. There is also the added bonus of not only supporting init.d but also userinit.d (scripts that are dependant on init.d completing first). Another big advantage is the logging that happens during the init process both to the system log and to /data/local/initlog.log you'll be able to tell if everything ran, permissions where set, whether or not it found userinit.d has been implemented in your rom, plus no more need to remember what permissions to set if someone gives you a script just push it to the init.d folder and reboot my KoolKit process checks permissions and sets them correctly for any file placed in the init.d folder or the userinit.d folder.

No I'm not getting reboots. But that could be related to a bunch of things. Have you used any mods or removed any extra files? I'm just on a clean slate with the rom running normal accounts and apps. Replaced some UI sounds with root browser and seems fine.

One feature of B03 is the user app backup and restore, for this to function dont wipe data just let the rom install handle everything and it should back up your /data/app folder and restore it on flash, it's experimental so no gaurentees but would appreciate any feedback you have.
Remember I don't have this device, this is a blind build but should work fine. please let me know

OK I went in to safestrap and did the factory reset went to install and it's telling me it can't open the .zip. I did however move it to my SD card with root explorer so I think I'll re download tomorrow, might have gotten f'd. But all is good just factory reset is all. Thanks again and I'll let you guys know What I come up with tomorrow.

Has anyone been able to flash yet? It sounds like my zip is corrupt
Dude, I'm running this ROM. It installed just fine. Only thing I had to do was re-root and re install busybox and safestrap.
I disabled all the google apps I dont use and BAM.....This ROM is really fast.
I'm stilll setting it up how I like but so far its been faster than stock I had.

safestrap yes, re-root you shouldnt have had to do, did you reboot once after the initial setup? if not thats why root and SU acted funny.
can you send me some screenshots? please?
this is an initial beta so feedback like this is perfect.
thanks

Yes I rebooted. But I rebooted before I entered any info in. The second boot, I entered all my crap in. SU said there was no binary installed.
Safestrap said I was not rooted. Also showing me the custom lock on boot up which I've never seen when I had my stock root running.
I install busybox and rebooted. I disabled superSU app and rebooted, enabled it after that and it worked. Installed Safestrap and rebooted.
After about 5 or 6 reboots, the phone was really fast and everything is working so far. Its time to really trick it out how I like and report to you any findings. So far, I love it !!!!

it needs to complete the initial setup first in otherwords
1. Flash ROM
2. Reboot
3. complete all of the initial setup (google, email etc blah blah blah)
4. reboot
as far as the custom lock that comes and goes it does it on the regular S5 rom as well
I also had too reroot with towel root. Otherwise it seems fine.

Just to report I followed the above steps.
1. Flash ROM
2. Reboot
3. complete all of the initial setup (google, email etc blah blah blah)
4. reboot
However I still needed to re-root with towel root. Obviously not a big deal but just FYI.
Thanks again for the ROM.
