So late night browsing gave me a little surprise. Turns out Google's next update consists of many new fixes that we all know were bugging us in previous updates. This may be old news for some but frequently new for me and others. Thankfully there are a few leaked images and content but till now, not everyone's certain about the update but many things are confirmed. As you can see below there is an image for a new Google Dialer which supposedly brings in colour. Not a huge change but its far from being plain and blant. Perhaps it'll pack in some extra built in features?

What sites?
Take a look at this guys - http://bgr.com/2014/04/14/sprint-nexus-5-android-4-4-3-kitkat-update/ I'm not sure if its true but I wouldnt expect the update to roll out straight away.
The publish date was on 14th so I highly doubt it was legitimate. And according to a couple of other articles on the site the update launches in a few weeks. So I don't know which to go with.

It's more like.. "new news for a few".. The other thread had over 2-3 lakh views with 750+ comments and it was a stickie thread and the images and the features you've listed in the OP is also old news which was released a long time ago.. :silly:
Anyways, I guess it was an honest mistake.. Peace! :cyclops:
I guess so ahahah, at least new news to me, I guess I'm a bit slow ?

In addition to the date being old, the list of fixes seems a bit strange. First it says there's a fix for random reboot. I feel like that's incredibly generic. Also, isn't the power management wakelock just an umbrella term for almost all wake locks? Not sure how they would be able to "fix" that. I'm new to all this thought so I could be wrong.

STRAIGHT FIRE!!!!!
I saw a commercial last night when my KINGS were cooking up some Duck about Sprint's exclusive Tri-Band network. I happen to fall into that category of Sprint users who will benefit from the additional bands. Since the advertising is starting to roll, maybe the update isn't too far off either.
There were 'tumbleweeds' blowing through the other 4.4.3 post, almost completely dead. Yet it was closed down for an imaginary torrent of off topic posts.
So might as well close this one down as well.

Or try to keep this thread on topic, since I liked going to the old one to read up on new 4.4.3 rumors.
Google voice voIP service in being shut down in the upcoming weeks. Is it possible we may see a 4.4.3 update released along side? Or will they make us wait until IO in June? If that happens, will 4.4.3 just become 4.5, or do 4.5 rumors not really exist, and it's actually 5.0 rumors which will most likely occur with the next nexus phone release.

I'm not sure why people keep bringing up May 15th as the cutoff date for voip on GV as to when some big release will happen. Nothing magical is going to happen on that day. I wouldn't expect Google to merge GV into Hangouts until I/O at the earliest. And even then, it is not a given that it will include VOIP.

Name: Board Express
We‘ve developed a new software for Windows Phone 7: Board Express for Tapatalk. This application enables you to use forums in the Internet directly on your WP7 device! Tapatalk is already well known on Android and iPhone and is very popular.
Xda-developers have their own rebranding Tapatalk client, the xda-develpers App for Android.
Our WP7 client allows you to read and write in forums on the go, using a special User Interface, adapted for Windows Phone 7. It has also been optimized for causing only little traffic and be easy to read. You may also write posts and open new threads, subscribe to topics and search. Furthermore, it can display unread threads or topics in your own themes, show private messages or send them and of course quote, edit, delete and report posts, and much more.

Hi
The app looks really good. Nice work. Is there the "go to first unread post"-feature integrated as in the android version of Tapatalk?
No, sadly this function is not integrated in the first version. We worked hard on it but this is not really easy to implement. This feature will make it's way to version 1.1 which will also be in the Marketplace very soon
Except from this feature, we implemented almost every function from Tapatalk into our Board Express app.
I can't find board express on the marketplace.
Is it not available to some regions? I'm in Ireland.
Thanks
Sadly, at the moment Board Express is not available in the WP7 Marketplace, because we have problems with the Microsoft Certification Test..
We submitted the App twice now, and on every submission, they find a new error which is kind of disappointing. Why don't they find all the errors on the first time so you don't have to wait seven more days?
But we keep going and we hope, that Board Express will be available soon

You can access xda-developers with the standard Board Express App The advantage is, that with Board Express you can access over 8'000 other forums.
I see that vbulletin support is listed, but does it support the heavily modified Something Awful forums which is based on an very old version of vbulletin ?
It is a pay site and I would happily buy you a login if it meant support could be added.

Sadly not - we, like many others, have big problems with the certification for the Windows Phone Marketplace.. We're working on it hard, but it seems that on every submission, Microsoft finds some new errors, some of them are not even listed in their documents..
It'd be nice if some of you guys working on it take a really hard look at the Metro design specs. While the application idea is nice, it looks out of place. Make more use of different font sizes, proper padding and make use of the accent and ancillary colors, ditch as much of the lines as possible.

This won't happen. Matter of fact is, even tho the page bottom still says VBulletin, it's so heavily modified and parts rewritten, it's almost its own forum software.
We'll have a look into the design, as soon as the App is being published! First priority is to get the App in the Marketplace

Board Express runs very smoothly, no crashes, no hungs, no freezes, no restarts... since the first version, we submittet to the Marketplace (This was never a reason, why we did not get approved). Microsoft does not really test the above things.. A lot of Apps in the Marketplace are very laggy.. Microsoft tests other things, which sometimes are ridiculous.
One reason, why they did not approve our app, was the translation of "favorites" (Am) - we used "favourites" (Br.) instead. Microsoft told us, that "favourites" is german, which is 100% wrong ("Favoriten" is german), and that we need to translate everything, including "favourites". (They thought that we missed to translate "favourites")
Another reason was: We submitted a branded version for PocketPC.ch. PocketPC.ch is a Windows Phone 7 and Android Community, this was mentioned in the app description. "Android" is a bad word for Microsoft, so we didn't get approved.
Ridiculous is also, that Microsoft did not note every reason why we did not get approved on the first test, they found one new reason why we do not get approved on every submission. And on every submission, you have to wait 3-7 days until Microsoft checks your App again. And after every check, after you got the result, that your App has not been approved, you have to wait 1-3 days on the reasons, why your App did not get approved.
But good news: Today, the branded Client of PocketPC.ch got approved and we resubmitted the two Board Express versions and we hope that we get approved this time
Finally, Board Express Pro got approved
Here's the link: Board Express Pro (Works only with IE). At the moment, Board Express Pro is not yet indexed in the Marketplace, this will happen in the next 24 hours.
We hope, that Board Express gets approved soon
Weeehaa

Thanks a lot for searching for Bugs!
We'll publish an update, in which you can choose to remove or edit the signature, soon. That was already on our list
This is not a rant or a moan or whatever you want to call it. This is just clearing a few things up after the last few days what i have been reading on the forum.
Firstly support for N4 will still be there after this update, and i am sure we have at least one more major update to come for our beloved device. People saying that our phone will be next are just talking rubbish. People all over the forum are crying thinking that our device will be next. Until a confirmation from Google can people please stop with the conspiracy theories.
Also regarding with the launcher. Now i am not that really bothered if it gets released or not as i do not use Google Now. But again were is the official confirmation that the launcher will not be included for our device? There is none. Just tech sites writing there stuff as usual and every one is lapping it up and making a fuss.
I love my phone and i do not see a reason why i should upgrade to the Nexus 5. I do not want though people in the forum to start moaning about things that are not official yet from the God itself which is Google. Yes they are not perfect but until the actual release gets to our device and we have things missing then fine all hell can break lose.
Oh and one last thing. Yes am gutted that we not got the update soon as the release came out but we are still the first to get it were other mega devices are not getting it at least December or Xmas the earliest..So am still thankful for the Nexus line. But that will start not meaning anything soon anyway if they carry this new strategy of there to put money first before anything else.
But till then please take a chill pill people.
This will get shut down and deleted am sure but i just wanted people to read this and seriously take it easy till there is ACTUAL CONFIRMATION by GOOGLE THEMSELVES..
Mods sorry if this should not be here but sometimes a man has enough when reading through the forums and having whiny kids whine all the time.
And to add...We are XDA...If things go missing and are not included in the build that our beloved N4 should get then people trust our great and respectful Developers here who are if you do not mind me saying better than those at Google..We will have those features that the N5 has and if not should be better build than stock...So please show your support for our devs and less whining and help this place for newbies instead of moaning all the time about something that has not been confirmed yet
:highfive: for you!
This is exactly my opinion on the subject.
If you are on XDA, odds are that you know how to mod your phone, and believe me, everything that will not come with the official OTA will be made avaliable soon here on XDA.
Right, you might need root, you can argue you do not want to root but then what is the point of your anger if you do not want to take action to get something you want?
Just wait for Google to release the OTA and everything will be clear!
Should be soon I guess

exactly my friend. until something has been confirmed i do not understand why people are panicking. and by the next update which will be by summer time our phone should be more than capable to handle it and i am sure we are in for that to. phones should have a support from the OS development team ie Google at least maximum two years...so why are people are stressed is beyond me.
Now as the Galaxy Nexus that is a strange one and Google should state the reasons why they are not supporting it but again that is nothing to do with me or concerns me..But for people to start saying that the N4 is next is beyond silly to say

Sure there is confirmation. It is not included in the Nexus 7 WiFi KitKat update. And Google confirmed it with The Verge and said it is possible they will bring it to other devices other than the N5 someday but not initially.
Great post OP.. You know what I think it is? Purely my opinion after mulling over how absolutely weird the 4.4 rollout and release has been.
Ever been in a corporate environment where someone important is replaced? It's hell.. JBQ left and was replaced.. So here you have a new guy who is pulling the old corporate "I'm new and have to flex my superiority and change things to make it look like I'm doing something different and being productive" (ie: Fishing for his next promotion).. This happens in nearly every business.. It's hilarious to watch happen in real life because most employees know it's coming.. 3 months later after everyone hates the new guy and his useless changes everything goes right back to the way it was. I'm certain all the rumblings this is causing is being heard..

It has to do with the Ti core not being supported anymore. Also, not being supported by Ti did not meant it doesn't work for Galaxy Nexus, just means Google would not support a device without former support to its hardware.
Anyways, Galaxy Nexus got 4.4 already, go Install it

To be honest the reason why i opened this thread is to get my opinion about the many things that i have read on the forum. Many false information that is going around by others is beyond ridiculous because they listen to tech sites most of them without any proper confirmation by Google itself...Now as to regarding the updates that are coming for our device if there is an official changelog by Google to say what are the changes from the older nexus devices compare to the N5 then i will eat my hat if it is out already stating what we are getting and missing out on..
But again people forget that XDA is here to help..Hence why we should not be ranting and raving
What am trying to say is that i want this thread to stick to a proper adult discussion about our device regarding the build that we should get..And i do not want people to give mis-information till we get it from the Big Boss itself

I can understand your point here OP but, the purpose of forums such as this one is to allow for open discussion on a topic. I see no issue with speculation or assumption as long as people keep their heads. That is, after all, what makes things interesting and keeps people intrigued. If we went purely on the facts at hand 100% of the time, discussions would end fairly quickly and most forums would be desolate places.

from the same article that you posted about the n5 being discontinued..
Update: There’s a possibility that Google is stopping the production of only the 32GB version of Nexus 5, as the XDA user above was asking for a replacement of 32GB Nexus 5. We will be contacting LG/Google for clarification and will update this article accordingly.

End of production was to be expected from my point of view.
But "delayed" update was a quiet a surprise because I was expecting at the end of November.
I'm quiet happy that they will release OTA on 12th, that means the image will be up few days sooner.

Nah it will not end.
http://www.google.com/nexus/5/
The site says it all.
Yea... Wouldn't make sense to discontinue it, and take the effort to redo the Nexus 5 page showing it running Lollipop.
Come on guys, you know how it is. This is rumor season. A bunch of people just randomly show up to the forum to post something they probably saw on G+ or something. Take 99.99% of all of this stuff with a grain of salt. As for the N5, I'll believe it's discontinued when you can't buy it on the Play Store from a link that says get your NEW Nexus 5 here...
So, you're pointing to a blog that in turns points back to lively thread here in our very own forums... Needless to say the original XDA thread does a fine job of repudiating the idea that the N5 has been terminated -- for all the reasons noted in the above posts. Circular posts like this just feed the rumour mill and before long we all end up authoritatively on IBTimes!
Though the N5 portion of this thread seems redundant in light of the XDA source thread I'll add a further 2¢: The original complaint seems to be someone trying to RMA their device (specifics are lacking), If that's the case he/she would only be offered a refurbished unit as per Google policy. That wouldn't explain the explain the wording of the feedback from Google Play, but in that case I'd suggest it's little more than miscommunication. In fact, the wording of the Play email is rather unlike anything I've ever had back from Google/Play support.
Said thread / rumour began here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/nexus-5-wont-produced-anymore-t2921263/page2
EDIT: *sigh* Even the postponement item is a report on a rumour from another site. "Android Police claims to have learned that the over-the-air (OTA) update for Android 5.0 Lollipop has been postponed to until..." While AP is a very credible source (and this report has been thoroughly covered in the appropriate forum here already), linking to a repeat of a report is fairly useless unless the fresh take offers an actual fresh take with, ya know, with new details or insights.
What happened to official statements? Are they valid nowadays? Because Google hasn't officially declared anything regarding this... So why discuss it further?
A new thread for every single article on lollypop?
It would be awesome if there were one place to discuss all these...... Wait... What about...

That thread is for the Developer Preview of Lollipop. Not the public production release of Lollipop.
I for one have found info on Production release lacking on this forum so informative threads are appreciated.

Yep, this trend makes it appear as if there is a lot less content too. Plus like you mention I'm not reading 100 pages in a thread with a title I have no interest in.
Much easier to have more specific topics with several pages than broad topics with hundreds of pages where who knows what page the info I'm looking for might be on.

Well, if you had read the blog post that you cited regarding end of production you'd have seen that it was referring to (and linked to!) an XDA N6 thread. If, having realized this, you still felt there was a clear need to (re)post it here you could have - at least - linked directly to the original XDA thread.
Another future of N5/Nexus thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2919674
And most here know that all L discussion goes in the L general or Q&A threads until it's officially released. Hence the reason every single L or Lollipop thread has been closed by the moderators.... In case you didn't see that trend. ?
Please guys. Stick to the L sticky threads as we've been asked to numerous times. ?
This is very good news.
Now android l can fix the problems of nexus 5 and make much better. now i like nexus 5. nexus 6 too big, it sad and sad
why delay because google still watch us with nsa so who care if they watch us all the time then they watch us right now be very disappointed with the delay

I will point out that the 32GB is out of stock on the Nexus 5 minisite, but that just means out of stock, which means no backorderable stock, which could mean waiting on new manufacture. I actually believe that Google understands, as do I, that this phone is still very cutting edge; and at this price point, most certainly the best buy for the dollar on the market. I have the opportunity to get any new phone now with a company paid monthly bill on AT&T or Verizon. You know what? I'm gonna keep my N5 on Straight Talk. Call me a dummy but I can't find a phone I like more with the features I've grown attached to (wireless charging ftw), a brilliant high dpi screen, and a form factor that fits just right (any larger and I can't one-hand it on the subway while keeping my other hand on the railing). What really makes a phone feel new is a radically upgraded OS, and that's what I have now with my no-questions-asked free replacement refurb on Android 5.0. Thanks Google!
@KJ is right, plenty of threads to discuss this.
Thread closed.
Just heard from a samsung worker at best buy that we will get lollipop by the end of next week and that it should be either 5.0.1 or 5.0.2. Thats whats taking at$t so long they are trying to polish off the problems s5 users on Verizon Sprint and international phones. So my question is Verizon just got root through lollipop so is it possible that we can also????
My assumption would be that root might take a little bit longer. Unless 5.0.1/5.0.2 are very minor I would assume getting root will change slightly. Either way though good to hear, I had read somewhere about a week or two ago that samsung was working on 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 in order to iron out the bugs that they had with when they rolled out 5.0.
Good to hear. I wanted to do more for 4.4.2 though. It will be bittersweet upgrading and getting to work on it.

Wow i hope everyone knows we have an awesome dev here= TALKINGMONKEYS
Looks like T-Mobile S5 is getting S5 today... AT&T is last and not sure when we get..
Shouldn't be much longer
I have the Verizon s5 and ive had 0 issues.. it seems to be hit or miss with some people.
With that being said, it did not and will not take long to root L. You will have to wait for someone to post a L rom.zip thats pre rooted, flash in SS and then odin the L kernel.
I would recommend waiting for this or for some brave sould to update ota and see if the BL is incremented or not.
For us on g900v, after taking the ota we are still able to odin down to 4.4.x and root install ss etc. but not sure if yours will.. best to play it safe and have a updated rom.zip and maintain root lol.
With that being sId, xposed doesnt work on samsung L yet and v4a and other stuff is needing a permissive kernel which im sure you guys dont have bcuz of the locked BL...

Brining it back to the original topic; having worked at Best Buy, the folks in the Samsung area have about the same knowledge as you or I do about updates, unfortunately. There were many topics that I knew much more information about compared to them.

For what its worth, I use the ATT visual voicemail app and it had an update from the Play store. The description only said update for Lollipop. Hopefully its coming soon if they are updating their apps.

Not to burst a bubble, but I was excited too when I saw that, but then I realized that AT&T has other devices already running Lollipop. It wasn't necessarily for our Phone. On the play store when a developer uploads an app, it is not device specific. A Google script reads the file to determine what devices can run it. I presume AT&T can also restrict it to their devices through an agreement with Google.
For example I uploaded an app and it could run on 6000 devices. I made an update recently and it was reduced to 4000 devices. This was because I dropped support for Android 4.0 and below while adding support for 5.0.

which is why people dont make threads saying "Lollipop will be out by the end of the week."
The people in best buy are not Samsung employees they are most likely best buy employees certified in Samsung devices.
Many people make posts like yours and many times its not accurate.
Im sure if you call ATT (who will have more knowledge than a best buy rep) they will say there is no eta or give you a random time frame.
Samsung released a L update to carriers a while ago its up to the carrier when they push it out.

Let's just hope ATT is taking this long to make a stable release unlike the vzw s5 lollipop release.

Actually, the Samsung Experience staff are hired by Advantage Sales and Marketing, at least in my area. Almost had a second job as one of their reps at a Best Buy but I had schedule conflicts.

Doubtful unless they wait on a new build from samsung. A lot of the bugs I've seen aren't carrier related changes.

Actually, calling ATT is just as useful as any other method which is just as useful as asking the person sitting next to you on the bus.
The people working the call centers are just people. They may or may not know how to use a phone. They are just read in from scripts based on your questions and responses. When they give no ETA or just a random timeframe seems to suggest there is no script in regards to the update, leaving it up to the CSR to make something up.
I used to be married to an ATT customer service rep. I used to do phone customer service for Verizon. I can tell you with 100% certainty. There is no one you can ask who can tell you the progress or intended release of any update unless the information is release from the company.
Most companies refrain from giving software update release dates because they cannot predict the stability of said update on that date.

I am a quality rep for US Cellular.. although we dont have scripts at all, associates are not suppose to make stuff up (of course they are ppl and make this mistake daily.) Of course each company is different so sad to hear att n vzw are scripted lol.
With that being said, CSRs at my work typically wont know of a release date until after its release and if they do, we cant set the expectation with customers until its readily available information such as posted on our website because dates can change.
So the right thing for a csr to do is educate the customer and let them know it is being worked out but we do not have a set date for its release.. this helps to not set a false expectation or upsetting a customer.
