Expanded Notifications - Samsung Gear Live

Hi all. Was just wondering with notifications, is there anyway to view each notification in full? For example, if I get one text from one person, I can read the entire thing, but if I get 2 or more texts from the same person, they are all grouped together and you end up only seeing the first few words of the text. This is even more noticeable for whatsapp. Is there any way to solve this issue? Thanks.

It all depends on the app supporting wear
Latest couple of whatsapp versions support wear and show each individually (can even reply via voice)

I would like to see more that a title of an exchange email but I think it has something to do with exchange.
It is the same if you have a Pebble, Gear or Android Wear, with Gmail you can read the email, with exchange you can not

It all has to do with how the notification gets delivered by the app itself, nothing to do with the watch

Anyone experience this issue with Exchange on 2.2?

I am using the built in email app to connect to my Exchange server and I have my phone with me at work like most people.
What I experience is a message will come in to my mailbox, instantly I get the notification in both Outlook and the N1. I will read the message in Outlook, decide to keep it (mark it as unread)/delete it (move it to deleted items) and the N1 will keep notifying me via Trackball glow that I have an unread message even though I've read it.
If I read or delete a message on the N1 it is always pushed back to the Exchange server (and consequently Outlook) immediately.
Anyone else experience this? It is okay when I am not near Outlook, but when I'm in the office it is very annoying to be alerted about messages that I've already read or deleted.
This type of behavior is not happening on my iPhone 3GS when I had it connected and this type of behavior does not happen for my GMail account on the N1.
I actually believe the update to a message from read to unread may actually get pushed to the device they just don't clear the notification. I can confirm this by going in to the mail app and I noticed all the changes I've made are up to date.
The issue seems to be that the notifications won't auto-clear on the N1 once the changes have already been pushed to the phone. This really sucks
Can anyone confirm my findings? Thanks
I can also confirm this. The notification has to be cleared manually. Once the notification is there it's there until you acknowledge it.
Froyo, Desire, they all do that. Notification doesn't clear automatically apparently. Would be nice if it did. Once a check of unread/read is done, just clear the alerts once open/moved etc..

Google Mail notifications will clear automatically so it is definitely something they left out inadvertently. I hope they can fix it soon.
I switched back to my iPhone for the time being because of this. Does anyone know if there have been any attempts to fix this issue in 2.3?
Thanks.

more than one Gmail notification

OK is there any way to get more than the very first gmail notification at a time? Can we do something so that if we receive lets say 3 emails one right after the other They will all trigger the notification instead of just the first one?

well, if you are opening your email for the one, why waste time showing X amount...
You could also use the baked email app, its much better...

They are both not very good. The gmail app lacks lots of features, and the built in email app doesn't have push support. Try K9 mail. It will show a notification in the bar and a small circle showing how many new emails you have. It is also much more customizable than either of the stock email apps.
Question?
have you observed that the Detail of the notification will do the following
- when there is only 1 email, it will show the subject
- when there is more than 1, it will show the # of unread emails.

Yes, it has the number. But the thing is, the phone will only "ring" for the first email. It won't sound again for all the subsequent emails.

Is there anyway to solve that? I want to see every email subject when the email is come. I mean if i have 3 mails, status bar must show 3 gmail notificaion and list it.
Settings / (account name) / Labels to Notify / Inbox. In the notification settings, you can select whether you want it to notify for each email or just the first one.

Pls give me Full Screen Notifications!!!

Went from pebble to gear now to sony smartwatch 2.
I have simple needs. Why when a email notification comes in, I get a pretty icon, sender, subject and poss 1 line of text and a lot of black space.
I don't want to then go to the notifications, and click on the email to see it. On the sony it uses the full screen to show all of the message, then goes away. If I want to see it again, I can go to the email app....
The gear is so much better, but I get 100's of emails a day and a 2 line notification sucks
Anyone ???
You only get to see whatever notification is available in the notification drop down on the phone
Some firmware and gear manager combinations don't give any email body with Exchange
If that's the case, is there a email client that will show email as they come in???? It's so nice to see the text of a msg while driving without having to fumble around....
I know it may come but k9 and touchdown have a extension for the sony that does it
In galaxy gear app under notifications there is a tick box for preview message, but it still gives you very little
Until Samsung release an sdk, no
You can install custom rom (null_) along with gapps and email client that can access internet via Bluetooth tethering
On the stock e-mail client on my N3 used with Exchange I get 14 lines of text, more when there aren't images in the original e-mail and the stupid "images are not supported" banner takes up the equivalent of two lines of text.

So you are saying you get 14 lines of text on the Galaxy Gear???
I'm on null 15 (waiting for null 20 before I update) and I don't get much of any email text. I use maildroid and have it set to push notifications from maildroid to my gear, but I don't even get text, just the option to see the email on the watch. The one thing I would love for a developer (or Samsung) figure out is to get email to push via Bluetooth (not internet tether). I don't need to see pics, just the message text. Unless I'm missing something, as of now there is now way to push and pull emails to the gear from the phone. If there is, someone please chime in on how to do this. BTW, I have 5 separate email accounts (personal and 4 business accounts) all through gmail so I get lots of emails. So I would need a way for all my accounts to be pushed. Again, any insight on how to do this please post. Thanks.

I checked out the Smartwatch 2 the other day and thought the Gear was so much better in just about every way - except for the Gmail notifications! Someone else mentioned using the Gmail widget on the Gear, that might work out good...

I have done this already, but some of those apps notifications aren't pushed, for whatever reason. I'm hoping null 20 will include notiwidget and other tweaks that will allow better notification push, especially with email. I get my calls pushed just fine, with tablet talk my texts are completely pushed, it's just emails, and I get no text for those, only the option to "view on phone". Like I said, I'm sure some of this will be addressed in Null 20 and other tweaks for the Gear in the coming months.

Why did you think the Gear was so much better than the SM2? Curious.... I think by the time there is a SDK for the Gear there will be a Gear 2. I think mine is going back

I just felt the overall package and experience was better on Gear vs SM2. Just seems more refined. I like the gestures, finger swipes. You can do more with Gear as well, SM2 seemed to be all about getting notifications and not much else.
Now I have to admit, I got the Gear for around $200 with that T-Mobile promo a few months ago. So in my mind, I'm comparing two $200 devices side by side... and in that case, getting more bang for the buck with the Gear.
However, despite all thid, I agree - don't think there will be an SDK until Gear 2... which is rumored to be coming out this Spring. So I'm also thinking of selling my Gear and getting the Sony instead, lol. I should be able to at least get back what I paid for the Gear. Even though I like Gear better, having a smartwatch work across multiple, non-Samsung devices is more important to me. I don't always want to have to use my Note just so that I can use the Gear.

Getting no or very lagged email notifications

I am getting almost zero email notifications on the watch. I will occasionally get the list of emails (useless) type notification and then just a few individual emails about 2 hours after I received them. No idea what the issue is.

which phone are you using. is your phone received the mail notification? do note that your g watch notification is tied to your phone..check your phone and see what is your sync frequency.
Downloaded an app call WearMail that is definitely improving things but for some reason doesn't include an option for Outlook mail.
You know, after getting 300 email notifications on my watch, 98% of which I don't care about, I decided to disable email notifications completely. I mean, whats the point? I can just check my phone from time to time. The call and sms notifications are the ones I'm really interested in.

Question Calendar Notification Bar Icon doesn't work ...

I'm going to be specific as I see so many answers that circle my problem, yet don't quite nail a solution for me.
DEETS:
Samsung 21S Ultra
Verizon
All the Icon's that pop up in the Notifications Bar for Email, Gmail, Text, WhatsApp, Instagratis and others work just as they're supposed to .... EXCEPT Calendar.
I get the Email/Gmail that a Calendar event has arrived, but nothing on the Notification Bar.
I go into Settings ---> Calendar ---> and see the options for: Show Notifications and it's turned to the "On" position along with: General Notifications/Ringtone Notifications/Other Notifications/App icon badges ... HOWEVER ... the "Show Notifications line is highlighted in Blue as if it's going to be "Copied", and although the switch is turned to "On", it's still in Gray-Scale and not in color.
In addition, the Ringtone Notification line is marked as "On" ... but it's also in Gray Scale and not in Color.
Why is this happening?
What can I do to fix this issue?
Please help!
Gregory
Which calendar app are you using? The Samsung and Google apps have the same name, Calendar.
Can you clarify your particular issue - is the problem that you aren't receiving a particular type of notification? Is the problem that you cannot configure the notification settings? Is it both of these issues?
The description includes mention of receiving a calendar event, but it's phrased in a way that suggests a problem there. However, my understanding is that's the intended behavior. You don't get a calendar notification when you receive an email containing the calendar appointment. That email just causes the event to be added to your calendar, so there is no reason to be notified of that. Rather, you can add notifications to the event itself, and those will trigger when the scheduled time arrives. Is that the entirety of your issue?

Hi KingFatty,
Using the Google Calendar App.
It's seems you understood the problem correctly: I would get an email, but no Calendar Notification in the Notification Bar at the top of the screen. But I don't understand why you think I shouldn't get both. My email has always been separate from my Notification Bar and the rational is obvious ... one is an email to which can be accessed from anywhere and anyone who has access to my emails (secretary/assistant/etc) ... and the other is my phone which no one but me has access to ... so, this way if the email is opened, the notification that an email has arrived and is unopened disappears (see reasons above), yet if the Notification of a Calendar Event was displayed in my Notification Bar, I would still be notified there is an event in my Calendar.
This may not seem that important to you, but for the last 14 years, this is a system that has been working flawlessly and efficiently for my staff and I to sync perfectly and harmoniously.
UPDATE:
I have found a way to get the Calendar Notification to work as is has before I upgraded (not an upgrade as far as I'm concerned, Samsung has **** the bed with this "Ultra") ... and that is to dumb-down the notifications to it's lowest level and change two settings.
As I acclimate myself back to Samsung from LG ... I am getting the gist there is a language conversion/translation issue at play here, more than the things the phone is/isn't doing and/or can't be easily remedied.
If it wasn't for YouTube, this would still be an issue.
Thank you for attempting to offer help KingFatty. It is appreciated.
Regards,
Gregory
It's still uncertain to me - can you clarify what is the calendar notification you want to receive (e.g., in the notification bar at top of screen)?
I offered some speculation to try to illustrate the ambiguity.
But at this point, it sounds like you want to receive a calendar notification to let you know that your calendar has been modified?
Like, if I sent you a calendar meeting today, scheduling us to meet next week, you would want to get a calendar notification today, upon receiving the meeting? You will get whatever Calendar notifications I've set up in the meeting, which usually I like to set two: 1 hour in advance, and 15 minutes in advance. For some appointments I set three: 1 day in advance, 1 hour in advance, 15 minutes in advance. Those types of calendar notifications would come through, but it would happen next week, when we are supposed to meet. Calendar would trigger and send you those notifications.
But think about *how* did I send you that calendar meeting? How did you receive it? For the answer, it's sent and received via email. Google takes it upon itself to automatically add that calendar meeting to your calendar, upon gmail receiving the email without you even opening the email itself.
So that's the crux as far as I can see it: are you desiring that your calendar generates a notification when Google takes it upon itself to add the meeting to your calendar?

Thanks for your concern.
It doesn't matter whether the notification was about a meeting you're scheduling through an email link, my staff added something to my calendar, or there was something already on the calendar ... I was having an issue with getting a Calendar Notification Icon in my Status Bar.
As stated, I've found a solution, so I'm going to bail out of this volley.
Please see the other discussion in this thread - there is an issue with Google Calendar notifications being missed. The cause is unknown, it seems sporadic.
This problem is back again!
Calendar Notifications are an essential part of most people's day ... and Samsung can't get it right?????
I am hating this phone more and more every day!
Video Call Effects doesn't give me options other S21 Ultra's have ... and several other Samsung Apps are either faulty or incomplete. The new update hasn't done anything to help these issues either.
It's as if they (Samsung/Verizon) want you to go to Apple! LOLOL
