Thanks so much if anyone else knows? It looks horrible...
There are quite a few xposed modules that will handle this. I personally like running ART so I'm hoping someone comes up with a SystemUI mod like the 2013 Moto X that makes all the icons AOSP.
Do you have a recco for a light xposed app that would do this?
It isn't light but gravitybox has this.
I have gravitybox installed but cant find anywhere to turn off the 4glte symbol when wifi is on? Am i just missing it somewhere?
The module is MotoXposed but I don't know if it works on the 2014.

Unfortunately moto xposed does not work on the new moto x. Anyone else find a "fix"? Thanks

It should be under status bar tweaks > signal cluster

Thanks... I did go there but there is nowhere to hide the 4g symbol when on WiFi...

Oh you wanted to hide the symbol...sorry about that. I misread what you wanted. Idk how to hide it :/

Go to the main settings screen. Under "Wireless and Networks" choose "More."
Now choose "Mobile Networks."
Uncheck "Show mobile network."
AFAIK there isn't one, hopefully someone will create a SystemUI mod like the original Moto X had. I hate that 4g icon so hopefully we can get AOSP.
Try this

I keep getting this notification when I have various apps open. It doesn't happen with the offending apps on every occasion but I sure as heck would like to disable this obnoxious message permanently of possible. Currently unrooted running stock 4.4.2.
Attached screenshot is the Dynamic Notifications app, not the stock active display.

Looks like you're using Gravity Box, with "expanded desktop" enabled? If so that's probably the issue. Try turning off expanded desktop and let us know if that helps...

Ah...
Ok, here is your answer:
Open Dynamic Notification, click advanced options. Now click advanced options in the drop down menu.
UNCHECK "Use Immersive mode"
The status bar will probably show, but problem solved. Its immersive mode that causes the message to appear.
Any app that uses immersive mode will trigger the pop-up.

Alright thanks. I did try that and it does remove the message, I was just hoping I could get the full screen experience out of it. I'm guessing this is the app's issue? Wish I could just disable hints completely. Don't need em. Thanks man

I don't think its the apps issue...more like a 'bug' in android. Not sure if I would even call it a bug...there just isn't any option anywhere to turn off the immersive mode "swipe down" messages. I imagine it was intentional....cause you just know that 10,000 people would call in to tech support saying they're stuck in full screen and can't get out.
I guess this is one advantage active display has over dynamic notification....that and power saving. AD doesn't actually wake your phone...one of the co-processors in the "X8" system is able to provide the notifications while sipping battery power.

I didn't know that about Active Display in respect to saving battery. Very cool! Might switch back. I was just used to Dynamic Notifications on my old phone.
UPDATE: Per your round-about recommendation I'm now using Active Display. Really like it! Guess I was quick on the trigger with disabling it and installing Dynamic Notifications when I first got the phone. I appreciate it.

Swipe down to exit full screen on xbmc box
Having recently acquired on xbmc box from my son ( he couldn't be bothered to set it up) I was extremely frustrated by the swipe message so I googled it & no one had the answer, so I purchased a wireless keyboard mouse, Bingo Fn+ mouse hover curser over OK & it's gone, if that doesn't work , re install & try again.

Is there a location for the image file in the root folder somewhere so I can delete it? Or a way to change the build.prop?

Yes it is checked there, I have even tried unchecking and then checking it again but still doesn't work.
This is getting annoying now, I actually use BBM and not seeing the notification on the display is very frustrating. I hear the notification sound but then the lock screen shows no notification and doesn't pulse.
Do you think this is a BBM app issue or an OS issue? Wondering who I can submit this problem to, not that its going to get it fixed anytime soon or anything.
Thanks

I am also suffering from this issue. Notifications have been enabled in BBM and in Moto > Display (for BBM). Running Lollipop.

I have this issue and I'm guessing its an app issue or OS compatibility issue. I disabled the persistant icon in the notification bar, did you guys do that too? I'm going to turn it back on, and give it a shot.

Yes, I have tried turning on and off all notification settings in BBM to see if that would change anything.
I was hoping the new Moto app update would fix this but it does not!! ugh

hi, how do i know when i have internet connection on lollipop? on kitkat the network icon is orange when there is no internet connection... with lollipop is only white? thx
PS: sorry for bad english
are you talking about this? -> http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...nd-only-shows-connectivity-in-quick-settings/
I'm not sure of a way to get that back, but I know there is an Xposed module to give the up/down network activity arrows if you are rooted.

yes, i was talking about that... thx for answer... i miss that now
I've got a Moto X Developer Edition with Lollipop 5.1 on it. I love everything about it except for the fact that some of my app notifications show up as white squares on my status bar instead of the regular app icon which used to show up for me on status bar when I had KitKat. I had been told that this only happens with apps that haven't been optimized for Lollipop. I was willing to accept this until I got Lollipop on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 a few weeks ago. I noticed on the tablet that all of the appropriate app icons show up as normal on my tablet whereas the same notification on my Moto X shows up as just a plain white square. I then have to swipe down for my notifications to see which one it is and read it. Is there something that I'm missing in Motorola that will help me fix this issue?
I've got this a lot on two apps in particular. One of them is the 14News app (local news app in my area) and the other one is NASCAR Mobile.
Any help I can get on this would be very greatly appreciated.

In Settings, Sounds & Notifications, App Notifications, each app is listed, select an app, slide priority on. It might activate display of the icon. Not sure though. You might try clearing an app data, uninstall, then reinstall the app.

Generally Battery Percentage not show in Moto Mobiles but in this video i'll show you how to enable battery percentage in all Moto Devices without Any app Or ROOT. Its working in My Moto G5 Plus (All Moto). Thanks
Here is Video
GOOD WORK
Working

Or u can use this app...
as it turns out, you need to have Dev Options turned OFF before turning UI tuner. Then you can enable it. after you see the option, you can enable dev options again
Thats how it worked in my case anyways.
I love you
Nice thing, thanx
Just looked at the video... This is great, but I don't like the number inside the battery... Too tiny to actually read. Anyone have an app to show it as a number next to the battery? My old LG had that as an option in the battery settings... I preferred that. ?

Worked even with dev options on for me though
hmmm. weird. oh well, glad its working
anyone know how to enable the % to the right of the battery instead of within it?
I've done some extensive searching and I could not find an answer. I'd imagine this is a setting in the ROM.
I am now wondering if anyone has found an app that maybe does this. Certainly some apps provide a battery indicator, but specifically one that always sits immediately to the left of the battery icon.
Good work

For those who don't have the System UI Tuner active here is how to enable it:
http://www.greenbot.com/article/3156309/android/androids-system-ui-tuner-what-it-is-and-how-to-use-it.html
First, you need to pull down the notification shade. Then, tap and hold the gear icon in the top right of the screen for a few seconds (on newer phones you’ll feel a vibration upon activation). Once you let go, the tiny cog will roll away and you’ll be taken to the Settings app and a box will appear saying, “Congrats! System UI has been added to Settings.”
To get to the menu, scroll all the way to the bottom of the settings screen. In the second-to-last spot, you’ll see a new System UI Tuner option, right above the About phone tab. Tap it and you’ll open up a set of options for tweaking the interface.
