My friend recorded me juggling with the soccer ball the other day. Sick stuff, gotta love slow-mo.

Slow motion can have sound, and it would have been great if it came with sound, it makes everything funnier

I know it's not the best video quality wise, but it was just a quick test. But yea they do have to make some improvements to the camera software. But i think if i had been better at filming, i could have choosen a better spot to film at.

Yes but im a tiny bit a perfectionist, not completely but just a little bit. That is why it irritates me, that i couldn't get it to film a propper video

I flimed one of my dog chasing me, it's really cool!
But I would much prefer if it had audio! Hope they fix on next update!

This is mine
yup..it's low quality video, the video is to much pixelated compare to real 720p and the exposure is too dark...

One think I might ask if you know, does 1080p zoom the video in about 1.5x like my SGS2?
It looks good on my phone. But that's a way lower resolution then a pc monitor would be.

I know right? That was the one thing that shocked me the most. I mean I know the GNexus is old (and slower because of older tech) but I didnt think that it was going to be THAT much slower and finish so much later than the other two.
After seeing this video test though it is making me want the N4, which sucks because I wasn't planning on getting it as I was happy with my GNexus.
Someone wake up the GNex!

much?! really? i find them both very comparable. the Nexus 4 has slight yellow tint to it while the iPhone is a bit on the reddish side. i think that's why the blacks on the iPhone look slightly better, but i am sure a kernel can give you the option to adjust it to your liking.
If thats the score a GNex gives while having a stellar, lag free performance; I can't wait to see how the N4 performs :good:

1080p Recording FPS Seems Fixed

Hi everyone
Not got my N4 yet, ordered yesterday though.
Found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XraA3-8t2M4&feature=relmfu
Looks a bit better than it used to be. Can anyone who actually already has one of these confirm the smoothness of 1080p video capture?
Yup the latest OTA had a fix for the camera.
That does seem a lot less janky than before - I'll be recording at 720p anyway as I have an 8GB Nexus on the way. If that's the speed of 1080p, I'm very optimistic about 720p with the OTA.
It was NEVER an issue.
The app used the wrong camera mode that locked to 22fps.
The sensor itself is capable.

[Q] Video - Slow Motion quality

Question guys - to enable you to slow certain scenes in a video you need to select the slow motion video scene...fair enough.
Should this in turn reduce the quality of the video?
I could be wrong, but before I went to a custom ROM, I am fairly sure the video quality remained the same as normal. Now as soon as I record in slow motion, it reduces the quality.

I noticed that too with mine. Horrible isn't it? You also get reduced quality with 60fps. You get verticals lines. I gave up and stuck to 30fps.

Slow Motion = Low Resolution
I saw that HTC video doing a slow motion video of a man doing fire/flame stunt. Actually I was amazed and got excited that I wanted to try that Slow motion on my own with something else like a sprinkler maybe.
So I found one at a park and as soon as I started shooting the video (slow motion video under video settings) WTH!!!! The resolution dropped to something like 768x432 and its a bite pixellated, not true HD (1080p) which I thought I'd expect just like from the HTC video... Yes you can trim/edit the video that's cool but I was hoping for 1080p HD quality
I hoped HTC would come with an update that can maximize its camera features up to 1080p resolution. oh well..

Well I guess is impossible because the Snapdragon 600 doesn't support the record of 1080p videos at 120fps :\
I'm on stock 4.2.2 and I've recorded this slow motion clip a week ago (don't forget to turn on HD when viewing it). The quality seems fine to me.
Yeah. The quality is awfull. The slow motion video from the the device with the man in the night eith fire from his mouth is years ahead bettrr than the ones we can record... But why HTC ?!

some info on this please?
hello guys. i'm sorry for this little derailing question but it was the only thread i found:
i'm currently digging into slo-mo available in latest phones.
i just saw some HTC ONE samples and i was very disappointed from the low resolution.
i was particularly impressed with the new Iphone 5S 120 FPS real 720P feature. it really looks 720 and not upscaled like the fake 720p NOTE 3 slo-mo. however i cannot use iphone anymore due to the small screen.
so from this thread i gather the faster frame limitation is by the processor itself? (snapdragon 600-800? what's the 720P limit?)
i am willing to wait until an Android phone will have a usable 720 slo-mo..
so what hardware could provide this? as i can see nowdays, the latest android phones cannot do it (not the NOTE 3 or the G2 which doesn't even have slo-mo to begin with).
my choice now are either wait for a phone that will (maybe the next HTC?), or wait till apple make a bigger phone (cannot stand the small screen).
your thoughts on this?
thanks.

An amazing idea for an xposed module (in my opinion)

Hello everyone, today i had an idea for a xposed module, that would be very helpful for people that have phones without a native HD resolution, like me (800x480).
So here is the deal: i thought of a module that could emulate an HD resolution on the YouTube app, therefore, allowing people to watch videos with quality above their native resolution. I need that because i think 480p on my phone (that is HUGE) looks awful, maybe because the screen ia huge, i dunno...
If it's possible to do so, or if anyone has the skills to do such a needed module please do!!
And thank you.
Greetings
Rusty
It won't be useful. You have a 480p screen. Watching a 720p video on a 480p screen is just wasting your bandwidth.

Yeah, it will be useful, for one simple reason, 480p on a screen this size looks just horrible, and no its not wasting my bandwidth, because with 480p on my phone on YouTube, my phone buffers a 40min video in like 5-10sec. So 720p on my phone's screen will make a big quality difference (will be more pleasing to the eyes) and it won't matter on my bandwidth.

Less packet loss, therefore more quality. I can easily notice some packet/frame loss by quality decreases along the reproduction of the video, particularly in some more "fast paced" videos i watch, mainly in drift videos and rocket league videos, that are uploaded at 1080p 60fps.

I can´t explain very well, but have you ever been watching a stream on twitch (on your phone) on High quality, not Source, HIGH, and when the video starts moving faster (camera pans/jumps) the quality degrades? No? Then you can never understand what im talking about. That is waht im trying to fix....

Solution: update your device to a newer device with a higher resolution
It is not possible to make a display with a given resolution to show stuff with a higher resolution.
Basics: the screen's resolution is determined by its pixel, which means that there is a maximum resolution available for a given device. A higher resolution will be downscaled or pixel will be merged as not all provided pixels can be shown on that display. Simple as that.
Such a module already exists. It's called YourTube. Just search for it in the installer or on the website.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Google Pixel 2 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I am particularly interested in low-light videos of both devices and the audio quality. From a few samples i could check on YouTube i suspect problems with the noise suppression at least on the XL. Trying to assemble examples in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/77mmk1/pixel_2_xl_video_samples_low_light_and_audio/

Yes. Cinema 4k for me is the best. Open camera is also good but has no noise reduction. Cinema 4k has really good noise reduction. Filmic pro isnt worth it for me. The quality is just mush compared to what you get on Cinema 4k no matter what color profile or bitrate you use.

The sequence settings and export settings are scary when you first try it out but you learn a lot over time when you use it. I just cannot recomend any free or super cheap softwares. I love this, auto focus works good.
Its quality too.
I recently test my new Pixel 2 , with Filmic pro, and the OIS works excellent, the zoom is very soft and accurate, also works the mic gain slider, and all the features of the app.
For record videos in a concert, Filmic pro is the best, you can monitor the mic gain, and control it with the slider.
Video of Pixel 2, is a great upgrade from Nexus 6p.
