Is anyone else having issues where android auto will freeze periodically? I had a 2 hour drive yesterday where I needed the GPS and it was fine for the first hour and then started freezing every 10 or 15 minutes. I had to unplug my phone and plug it back in but when I did that the navigation was gone. This could be very disastrous if it were to do that at a crucial point in a drive. I cleared data from all apps and re-set up Android auto but it kept doing it. I am at a loss...
Yes I have disable google now and I have not had a freeze up since.

Do you mean the stock launcher? I already have that disabled because I use Nova Launcher. I've been wondering if it's because I was using a long 3rd party data cable.

Dunno if this is a common issue as I couldn't find any other mention of it.
Basically, if my O2X has been asleep for a while while I'm at home and I take it out of sleep, it doesn't automatically reconnect to my home network, even though it's set to "never sleep". I have to either disable and re-enable WiFi or leave network notifications on so I can establish the connection from the available networks list.
Has anyone else got this issue or know of a resolution for it?
At least while on MoDaCo Fr12 it seemed to reconnect more quickly but I'm getting 48 hours out of the battery back on stock so would rather start there.
Cheers

Same here. I'm rooted, got CWM but still at stock. It is either being rooted or the freezing of a certain app.
Mine is rooted and from the moment i push the lock button it already is connecting after 2 seconds. Problem could me an app.
What apps did you install that require a wifi connection ?

None really. Auto-sync is usually off and everything else is "on-demand".
Might try a full wipe and just re-install a few apps at a time with titanium.
Hmmmmm.

Hi,
Same prob here. Sometimes it reacts, sometimes it dont. And if it's stuck I have to reboot.

But try to wipe first and see what happens
try app, blade wifi fix from market you must be rooted
happens to my x10 as well sometimes. blade wifi fix does help a bit, although you can always activate/deactivate wifi manually but yes it is annoying.
try changing wifi sleep policy to never, it won't disconnect but you'll notice some battery drain.
This is a known issue with some access points. The G2X forum also has a thread about this.

I have this problem too. LG? Bad, bad boys...
I have selected to never keep WiFi on during sleep yet now the tablet continues to run the WiFi as you can see in the pictures. This has forced me to use airplane mode when I am on the go because otherwise the tablet just keeps WiFi on and burns the battery extremely quick. This has been a problem since I updated to 4.2.1. I am not rooted completely stock. A solution would be great because this sucks right now. I have tried clearing the cache in recovery but that didn't solve the problem.
I'm running the latest Paranoidandroid ROM and thought that was the problem. I can't yet post to that developer forum so I was just waiting for the next beta.
I guess it's a problem with 4.2.1 then.

If you don't find a solution you may want to try DataEasyPro from the market. It kills both 3g and wifi as soon as the screen is off and then runs a user defined schedule to turn on 3g or wifi every now and the for a few seconds to keep you upto date with your social world. Works great. There is even a widget so you can turn off the schedule when you are downloading or updating from the play store.

I think it is a 4.2.1 problem. Its hard to say how wide spread it is though because I have only seen a handful of posts about this issue though. To me, this issue is unacceptable. I should not have to enable/disable airplane mode to conserve battery. Especially when the previous version of android prior to the 4.2.1 update handled WiFi sleep settings without a problem. Hopefully a fix will be here soon. My tablet used to have superb battery life without me constantly monitoring it. Now I feel like I have to keep double checking that I remember to use airplane mode so that I don't go to use the tablet and find a nearly depleted battery.

I recommend automate it, I have a couple of rules set to turn WiFi of with the screen (with a 5min delay), then turn Wi-Fi back on when the screen turns on. There's plenty of other settings and rules to play with as well.

In had the same issue. I found Google maps to be the culprit.
It defaulted back to location reporting.
Check Google now sync, maps and currents.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It's not google maps itself, it's the android location service. It's always collecting data even if your phone or tabscreen isn't on. This is pretty anoying since google only let you choose between agreeing to run the service in the background or not using it at all. Stupid! How about collecting data only when the device is in use?
Same here. There is a bug report on Google about it.

Ah this is interesting; as last night my battery was on 53% and I am sure I charged it fully previously...... Am on stock too but have rooted.
Might just switch the tablet off all the time for the time being.
I'm on stock rooted 4.2.1 and mine is fine. Strange.

what is the OP using? Are there any apps installed/running on the OPs device that can keep the WiFi alive?

I highly recommend using an app called Better Battery Stats. You can find the free version here on XDA. It'll tell you if there is an app causing a wakelock. I used it to troubleshoot my Rezound and I'm getting a solid 4-5 hours of screen on time with the extended battery on that because it helped me lock down the apps that were killing my battery.

Hmmm. Just checked PA beta 7 and it's doing it too. Wifi on always.
A custom kernel would probably fix that.

I was having the wifi on issue as well. Just bought my N7, stock 4.2.1 and not rooted. I followed the tip in point four of this post, which details a simple set up using Tasker, where the unit turns the wifi on and off after the screen turns on or off respectively. The reason for the 10 second delay as is detailed in the link, is to allow for the turning on of your N7 to check the time or other reasons, and then quickly turn it off without the wifi on task being activated.
the screenshot below shows my wifi being stuck on while in sleep mode, even with it set to be never on during sleep in the settings, and the change in behavior once the 2 Tasker profiles we set up.
Cheers
Those of you having issues, have you tried the "only when plugged in" setting? Not sure if it would really matter but that's what I use and mine turns on and off just fine.

Testing that now. Turned off Tasker, and set wifi to the "only when plugged in" setting. It's only been about 30 minutes, but so far it looks like it's behaving the same as before, as in keeping wifi on while in sleep. I'll Let it sleep for a few hours and see what the chart shows.
Cheers
EDIT: So I let my N7 sit for about an hour after switching the above mentioned settings, and you can see in the screenshot below that the wifi is staying on while the unit is not awake. I've set my Tasker profiles to control the wifi once again.
I know it may be fixed by a factory reset, but frankly I'm more than happy with the way Tasker handles the issue.
Cheers
so 6 months later, I am still getting this problem. However it seems only to be with the last update. The tasker method seems to be working well though.
I've just noticed that the Back key/button does not work when I'm in the Google Play App.
I'm forced to use the arrow in the upper left corner since my Note 5 Back button is not working...
So far I've only noticed it not working within Google Play...
Just curious if this is normal? Or if something is going on with my phone...
(I never noticed this before because I normally go to the app store on the computer and install the apps on all my devices from there, but I happen to be out looking for a new app someone recommended and noticed the Back Key issue)
I've had this happen using Gmail.. I end up having to use the arrow in the upper left to return to the previous screen. Doesn't happen every time I use Gmail, but maybe 50% of the time. Usually, I have to kill the app totally, and restart Gmail and it's ok. No other app acts like this... I haven't used Google pay, so wouldn't know about that.

It seems to be constant for me, I killed the app, rebooted the phone, still won't let me use the back key/button...
Its rather frustrating as the back arrow in the upper left corner is really far away from my thumb.
Same thing here. N920CD. It happens occasionally.

I'm experiencing it while in the Gmail app on my S6 Edge Plus (SM-G928V), dad has the Note 5, and has seen it too. Haven't noticed it in Play store, yet. However, not as often as 50%, more like 5%, but it's still happening after a couple weeks. Maybe it's a Samsung button issue??.. maybe not...since it's only Google Apps mostly?
i thought my phone was faulty until i read this thread..
yes.. same with my note 5 since day 1 .. happens intermittently for gmail app.. hopefully samsung will fix it in an update.
is this issue even on custom roms ??
Nope... The back button always works fine for me on the Play Store app and Gmail. 100% Stock except using Nova launcher.

Yep, seems to work for me in both apps.
yes.. issue even with custom roms.
On my first Note 7 the Samsung keyboard was really laggy. I switched to the Google keyboard and everything was ok with the speed of typing (accuracy is still bad with Google keyboard). Now with my Note 7 replacement both keyboards are laggy. I type and the letters appear 0.5-1 sec later from time to time. The vibration of the keyboards is also off. Has anybody the same issues?
I did when I used Smart Switch to do a full swap on my device... my new device I moved over data via alternative methods and only restored Settings, Call history, S Note, and Messages with Smart Switch... it's working allot better this time I did a similar thing on my Note 4 when I temporarily reverted during the recall and saw a similar performance improvement

Hmmm. I did a complete clean install after I got the replacement and I got the OTA update. I even installed all the apps newly. I didn't restore anything. Might try another factory reset.
Almost every Samsung phone I had has had a leggy keyboard, my note 4 was really bad. Even after flashing different roms and what not on my note 4, it was still Larry. My note 7 has been pretty decent actually
Do you guys know what's going on with mine? I notice sometimes I'll get a notification and for a split second the notification doesn't fully load at top. Here's a screen shot to show you what I'm talking about. I also just put it side by side my other note that I'm returning and got the same notification while same app open and it didn't do it on the other note. Wtf.
google keyboard lags, samsung keyboard lags aswell.
just installed swiftkey. well see how that turns out.. seems OK so far
I turned off nova accessibility and it fixed the issue for good for me.

My Galaxy Tab S2 seems to lag for a couple of minutes when I first go to use it. This is after I've left it just on the side for a few hours or overnight (not from boot-up).
When I try to open an app it freezes then a few seconds later it does what it was supposed to do then it freezes again. I force close all but this doesn't really help until I've done it a few times.
I wasn't sure if this was something to do with the built in auto Wifi off so switched that off and it seemed to improve it slightly but it still happens. I tried using some auto WiFi off apps instead but they didn't even work.
After this first couple of minutes it then works fine. I uninstalled all apps and it was ok but it wasn't before long it came back. It wasn't particularly noticeable after any specific app.
Is there a way to analyse what is causing this lag in the background?
I'm experiencing the same problems. I wonder what could be causing this?

I've noticed this for a long time. If you use a system monitor you will notice that the Disk reading will be at 100% for some minutes, leaving the tablet unresponsive.
I don't know how to identify which apps are doing the reading.
