WiFi Problem - Only Solution is Flight Mode on/off -maybe this will solve our problem - Desire 626 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, I bought this phone two weeks ago and I was really happy, the first 3-4 hours. It seems alot of people have the same problem, it similar to the one with HTC One wifi. When I don't touch my phone for like 2-3 hours, while wifi is on, and I return to my phone, everything seems cool. It shows at the top that it has wifi but when I try to do something that requires internet connection, it fails. It still shows wifi is connected. When I check under Settings>Wlan the only Source it shows is the last router I was connectected to.
Logically what on will do in this situation is to switch on/off wlan. But in this case, it will show me "out of range". So the trick here is to turn on/off Flight Mode and everything will work again. But it sucks to do this 4x-5x time a day. So I called the support and they told me to do the following:
1. Go to Settings>Wlan click the three dots at bottom right
2. Select "Wi-Fi Direct" and click "rename device" at bottom right
3. Rename your phone to "htc desire_626g" and click ok
4. Now go back to Settings>Apps, this time click the three dots at top right and then "reset app config" or something like this
5. Hold down volume up + power key until your phone shut down completely.
6. Power on your device like normally and everything SHOULD be fine.
Right now it has been 4-5 hours I did what they told me and everything seems fine. Wifi is still on and I tried to not touch my phone for this time because the problem was always when I did not touch my phone for some hours. If this solves my problem I will be very happy and I don't have to send it for fixing. Hopefully it will help other new buyers too. Greeting from Germany

Same problem here, lets try if it works

Same problem
I have the same problem. I tried your advices, but problem is still here. Has anyove solved?
Did you tried a hard reset?

Same here, it doesn't help

I had the same problem until today when I received an OTA software update from HTC. The update's build number is 1.04.401.4. After applying this update my phone (a HTC Desire 626g+ Dual Sim model) has no issues with losing wifi any more.

Kaiser Crashing while Asleep

I am running stock O2 WM6 ROM on an O2 XDA Stellar with a whole host of applications (Batterystatus, SPB Pocket Plus, phone suite, weather, mobile shell, insight, time, Calendar++, HTC Task Manager, Large Menu, are "running" (ie today plugin or might have started) and I think I killed most other things before I went to bed) and my Kaiser has recently started to crash and I don't know why.
This morning I went to check my phone (which was on charge) and it wouldn't turn on (must have died between 4am and 8am). I hit the power button, then other buttons (just in case), tapped the screen, etc.... and get nothing. Finally whipped out the stylus, prodded the reboot button and waited for it to come back to me. This is the second or third time this has happened over the last two weeks, the other time I remember clearly was when I pulled it out my pocket to find it similarly unresponsive.
When it is restarted it boots happily and everything seems to be running/working fine, but it is kind of concerning that it completely locked up in the first place while I was not using it.
Does anyone know of a way this can happen? Are there any known conflicts that can cause it to lock up? Does WM keep logs somewhere to help track down problems?
i'm also having the same exact problem with my tilt. today i got to work late cause it crashed somewhere along the night and the alarm didn't ring. i woke up 10 minutes before my start time at work. lol. third time it happens in 3 weeks.
I have a Tilt, WM 6.0, and stock ROM and I had the exact same problem... drove me nuts. Have you enabled 'Wifi Standby Mode' using KasierTweak? I enabled that option and when my phone went to sleep with WiFi turned on, it would occasionally crash and refuse to wake up without hitting the reset button.
After disabling 'Wifi Standby Mode' the problem went away. If you have KasierTweak you'll see it listed under the 'Data' entry.
Just a thought. Hope that helps.

Nope, was disabled
Am thinking about it and when I was using Garmin for GPS last it rebooted on it's own and I can't get it to get a GPS lock any more. Am wondering if I have actually managed to break the hardware or if this is a symptom of a bigger problem.
Not really wanting to wipe the device, but it will happen when O2 release their ROM update
Thanks for your thoughts, was thinking people were just ignoring me (it's not iPhone/GUI related, so wasn't expecting many replies).
I had the same problem occuring every night, and this was driving me nuts as well.
I've tried many things, like configuring email updates only once a day, disabling wifi while asleep, removing other software that might try to connect to the internet regularly (weather, RSS...), rewrite completely the PhoneAlarm profile schedule parameters
Nothing worked.
I finally removed the PhoneAlarm night switch schedule, and has no problem since.
I'm not sure of this because the parameters has worked fine many month.
Could this help someone there ?
This sounds like the problem many have described as sleep of death or SOD for short. Might give a quick search on sleep of death and see what you can come up with. I cured mine by stopping activesync and comm manager before putting it to sleep.
hope this helps...james
Guys I think you may be Describing the "Sleep of Death." Here is a Thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339792&highlight=Sleep+Death
It is also covered by another thread which has popped up
Standby of Death (SOD) with the Tytn II from Kaiser General (I joined that thread here).
If anyone wants to reply to this thread, please read and use both/either of these two threads (and if mods want to lock this one, that's fine by me).
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to change SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

Intermittent Phone/Data Connection, stock or custom, help, logcat?

Figured I'd ask this one to the community to see WTF is going on with my phone. Just curious if anyone has witnessed or has any clue to what my phone's issue is. This is a bit long, but needed to show this isn't just some setting issue:
Issue:
- Intermittently connects to Network, when working get both phone and data connections
- Connection lasts anywhere from 1-15 min.
- When data and phone connections are lost, they still appear normal/active in status bar, when view "status" in settings, shows my network connected, Rogers, not roaming, Connected to network state, Service State "In Service, blah blah....
- Sometimes, status bar icons show normal, but status in settings actually shows disconnected or connecting, this happens less often then the case above
One weird Incident:
- Was golfing one day, using GPS Golf app, all of a sudden phone shutoff (never happened before). After a panicky 20min. of pulling the battery, and watching the screen, nothing would happen. Finally, it powered on, and booted as normal. My connection issue seemed to come right after this incident occurred.
Attempts to fix software:
- Full wipe on custom ROM - no change
- flash radio(s) - no change
- flash stock ROM - no change (then root, flash custom ROM...no change)
- WTF????
Sent back to HTC for repairs
- My final option was to send my phone back to HTC. 1 week later, I get my phone back, same phone, flashed by HTC, and locked bootloader. Powered on, made a couple of quick calls, 10min later, issue was back. called HTC back, long story short, told I have to send it back again, and there was no problem found on the service report.
This is where I am at right now, does anyone have any ideas, similar experience? I am going to hold off for a couple of days before sending it off again, i am an electronics technologist myself, and find it hard to believe this could be a h/w issue, but I have no more software/partitions to flash that I haven't tried.
If there is anyone knowledgeable enough reading this, I have the logcat files, from what I can understand of it, when the my calls fail, "CallNotifier: DISCONNECT"..."CallNotifier" Cause: ERROR_UNSPECIFIED". There might be more in the log file that I don't understand.

[Q] Woke up to a less functional Captivate..

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I woke up today to see my captivate screen showing blank screen (active black screen with buttons lighted up) being unresponsive. It was on it's charger from the night.
I pulled the battery to shut it down. It rebooted. I thought nothing about it until I tried to use it about an hour later.
I have had it on stock Froyo, with no root. Never have flashed any other ROM besides updates through kies.
Problems and things I've noticed so far:
No puzzle lock screen. Can't find it under "set screen lock". Only None, Pattern, PIN, Password available.
Home button and search button do not function(they light up like they are pressed, but not action occurs in any apps or home screen).
No data. Usually i'd see edge or 3g, but I have no data connection.
Text messages wiped. None available through "Messages"(though call log shows history of messages).
Keyboard was on stock android rather than swype(since changed back to swype).
Holding power button only shows "Power off" option. Before there was at least Airplane mode.
GPS was on(I hardly ever use it).
Location settings seemed to be default("use wireless networks" was unclicked)
Most other settings/app data seems fine.
About phone info:
Model Number: SAMSUNG-SGH-i897
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: I897UCKB1
Kerner version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: FROYO.UCKB1

Other related things:
Day or two before I received a text message from AT&T to download Kies and use Froyo(Don't remember exact wording, lost the text message, but something to the effect it looked like a mass mailing text to update to Froyo using Kies). I was already on Froyo(flashed as soon as I found out it was available few months back).
I also got a text message about downloading their at&t app to manage my minutes and pay my bill(also already had that app).
My Captivate would randomly freeze/unresponsive a few times, but I didn't think much of it.
Google Music app seemed to randomly start playing the audio file i paused(just in my pocket, or once when i put headphones in to make a call).
Searching the forums, haven't found too much related.
One thread suggested using "home switcher", which I have tried(both Froyo and regular versions, though can't press home button for Froyo version). Neither seems to know what my default Home App is, but it only sees TwLaucher(I only have TouchWiz).
Tried installing an alternative launcher(ADW,LauncherPro), still no home/search button.
I'm without my computer for the weekend, so I can't backup my files and reset to factory just yet.
Anyone have any thoughts to fix this or know what may have went wrong?
I might finally make the jump to a Custom ROM if it'll fix this.
Yes, you should either flash a custom rom or do a factory reset. I will say an event similar to this, also involving text messaging, is what made me make the leap to Assonance, and then Serendipity, and I haven't looked back.
Sent from a state of Serendipity
At the least, try a master reset.
You're not alone....
Two Saturdays ago, I woke up, grabbed my phone to see what time it was and my phone was going haywire. It as blinking, flickering and rebooted on its own a couple of times...without me touching it.
When I DID manage to access the phone after a reboot there was no connection. I couldn't call, send/receive texts, nor could I access most of the features (during one of the haywire moments, the phone popped open my "Gallery" folder and started running a slideshow and then shut down. Again, all without me touching it!) There was a distinct blue circle with a slash where the 3G bars used to be on the top right corner of the phone.
I did a factory reset and didn't help. Wiped everything off the phone, but the device was still going nuts.
I got the phone in mid-December and have absolutely pampered that thing. Never dropped, never scratched, never abused. So I was surprised when I took it into the AT&T replacement center that the lady told me that my battery was wet! Not the phone, but the battery. Those two white-that-turn-pink indicators are so close to each other on the phone that I can't see how one gets wet while the other doesn't.
So they give me a new phone. One thing I noticed right away was that my data usage went WAY UP with the new device. To put it in perspective, I used 100 mb of data in 29 days and 64mb IN ONE DAY with my new phone. I thought it may be a one-time fluke, but it's not. I am only 10 days into my new month and am already at 164mb out of 200mb in my plan. I have NEVER used 164 mb in the 6 months previous, let alone in 10 days.
Fun's not over yet. I noticed a lot of crashes and "Force Closes" with the new phone too. I didn't even have any apps downloaded yet and things were still crashing. Last night I pull my phone out to take a picture and...nope. Screen was all kinds of whacked out and it crashed. And still does now every time I open the camera function. I managed to get in camera mode fast enough to do a reset, but didn't work. The screen is fine otherwise. So looks like I'm back to A&T tomorrow for another round.
I'm glad you posted this, cause the same morning all this happened -- literally, within 10 mins of me waking up -- my computer (brand new - 2 days old) went berserk and shut off and my stereo started flipping channels, turning the volume, treble, bass up and down..BY ITSELF without me touching ANYTHING! It was pretty freaky. I wondered if I was struck by lightning the night before.http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/eek.gif
I was finally able to get back home today and do a factory reset. This (somewhat) solved the problem. Everything is mostly back to normal(home button and search button work on home screen, lock screen is there).
Lost a couple of game saves as I had no method to pull a save file(was doing adb pull on some known file locations).
I did run adb logcat before resetting, and home button and search button seemed to trigger something, just not follow through(Search button did work in a card game as a forward button and home button worked in the kies app to exit, just never as a return to home button in apps).
I'll be looking to root and flash a custom ROM, especially root so I can do a proper backup in case anything like this happens again.
I just want to say thank you posting in q&a and doing research before and after your flashing started. Then searched after your problem. You're a new member of a breed that are few and far between. I will hit your thanks when I get on my computer, app doesn't have it. You will go far here.

[Q] Wi-Fi keeps turning itself on after latest update.

I received the latest update to 4.4.4 this past Wednesday. This is the update that included the HTC Eye Experience. The update went smooth and everything was all good until I was driving home from work. The phone randomly rebooted itself and ever since, I cannot get Wi-Fi to turn off. It stays off for approximately one minute and then turns right back on. I have searched this forum and others all day with no solution seeming to help. I also hard reset the phone earlier today but the problem persists. Anyone had this issue or have any solutions? Thank you in advance!

Do you Sprint Connection Optimizer running? That'll keep Wi-Fi on. See this http://support.sprint.com/support/t..._Optimizer_on_or_off_HTC_Onereg_M8/51761-1469

Thanks for responding! Its not Connections Optimizer. It has been turned off from day 1 but I did recheck and it is still off. My M8 is not rooted and completely stock. It worked great up until this update. I tried soft reset and hard reset to no avail. There is a message that pops up in the notification bar sometimes (Wi-Fi notification with a red triangle) that says setup has not been complete but nothing happens when I click on it and it goes away. Sprint is, of coarse, no help at all. They want to send me a new phone but I really don't think this is a hardware issue. Maybe a bad download?

Huawei p9 EMUI 5 update broke a few things, please help.

After the update a few issues have risen. I've attempted to search for solutions for each one, with no avail.
These are issues that never happened before the update, and started right on the next day.
1. Audio apps close when locking the screen.
When I have a podcast running (on beyondpod) and I lock the screen from the off button, the app will either keep running, or close.
I have found a few questions like this on here and other forums, but none with a definative answer.
I've done a few of the suggestion, like cleared the cache. But is there an actual solution to this?
2. Bluetooth turns off/loses connection to my pebble 2. I think these might be connected.
While using a bluetooth headset, there are no issues. However I constantly (should) have my pebble connected to my phone. However, very quickly it loses the connection. It randomly finds the connection again randomly, but it wont stay connected for very long. Sometimes I catch my phone with the bluetooth turned off, however turning it back on wont neccessarily connect it to the pebble. I also tested out with IFTT, and everytime the phone cut the bluetooth connection it woul send me a notification. And it happened multipe times within the hour. Sometimes taking tens of minutes to reconnect, sometimes not reconnecting it at all.
3. Google Timeline (the thing that draws a map of where you've been and how you've traveled)
I used this to follow my cycling and walking, since step counters dont recongnize cycling very well or at all. However since the update the pages are all empty. It just wont recognize my movement at all. I later noticed that the location gathering accesses had been reset, but even after giving them access again there is absolutely nothing saved onto my timelines.
Please, if you have any ideas what is doing this, or any ideas how to fix one, or each of these, leave a reply...
If nothing else I'll have to rollback to Marshmallow... And I've really grown to like the split screen!
hi, having same problem as #3 on my brand new Huawei Mate 10 pro. did you ever solve the issue? thanks
