Hey i recently purchased a 16GB Mini SD. As soon as i got it i formatted it to FAT32 then tried loading Android onto it. Went to file explorer on my phone and the SD didnt show up. So i plugged my phone back into the comp (i dont have an SD reader on my comp) and it showed the SD's storage to have 707GB! Yes 707GB! lol Unless this is a super magic card, something is wrong lol.
I Have tried formatting it again but under windows the only options are exFAT and NTFS. Im not to sure what exFAT is?
Any light shed on this is appreciated
how much did you pay?
i guess its one of these cheaper ones which are only shown with a higher capacity but are in reality a 2gb card or something like that.
DN41
$40 Australian dollars. Thing is when i first put in the phone it read 16GB but when i tried putting Android on it it wasnt read by the phone. And now its 707GB, i wish it was really haha
try to format it as ntfs or exfat and back to fat32...
does this help?
DN41
I tried formatting to NTFS and a window pops up 'windows was unable to complete the format'
And thats all hmmm.. maybe a dodgy card?
Did you not mean microSD? I'd love to see how you can fit a miniSD (larger than microSD) into the microSD slot of HD2.
Where did you purchase your card from, mate? If the answer is eBay then there's a good chance it's fake.
I bought a 32GB micro SD (Kingston) off ebay... It showed up as a 32GB sd card on my laptop, and tried to work on my phone, but every time would try to run android I had problems... I thought I was just a noob doing something wrong, and honestly wasn't gettin a lot of help from others on the forum. Tried new builds, new ROMs, nothing.. Bought a new 8GB card, Perfect! Everything works! The questionable cards seem to lead to questionable results. I would buy one from a brick & morter store and try it. If it works, great, if not, take it back. Good luck!

...and I beg you could probably read/write 32GB of data on your laptop.
However, a common hack used by fake cards is to only store indexes of files beyond its real capacity on the card and store the actual data on your hard disk. Once you take the card to other host (i.e. HD2) then it would all fall apart...
As far as i know its a legitimate card. Came fully sealed in the original packaging. And yes it is a microSD, im sure you know what i mean.
Question i ask now is it possible to bring back a corrupt card to life. I downloaded this tool to re-format but no luck. It says 'this format is not recognized' i even read somewhere else putting it in the freezer might give it a kick start haha

You must got a good deal if you bought locally then. www.staticice.com.au tells me the cheapest 16GB microSD is $41 plus delivery and it's only class 2.

Depends. IF you bought a fake it could be well packed as real. Then again, I don't know where you bought yours from.

I replaced my hd2 SD card 3 times all of them are SanDisk 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB.
And every time it works for 2 weeks or 3 then it get corrupted so I’m sick of buying SD cards for this device.
I have no idea why it's getting corrupted even the tech support says my device is ok no problems found.
So I decided to save my money and wait for HTC Windows Phone 7
i had nothing but problems with android on the hd2 and micro sd's all are genuine cards too, managed to recover the files and format the cards luckily otherwise i'd be buying two new micro sd cards, leave android for android devices lol, windows phone 7 out soon no doubt there'll be some new roms out for us happy HD2 owners then.....

I have the same prblm with the 2gb and 4gb microsds. The 2gb one got corrupted till the extent I can't format it nor recover the files from it.
The same happened to the 4gb except that the format on my hd2 seems to be working but not helping much, it's taking too much time and yet the storage card folder still didn't appear.
The formatting prgms on my computer gave me errors when i tried formatting the microsd. So in the end, the microsd is corrupted badly as the first one.
I realized that it been a while since your last post, so any luck in fixing ur prblm?
Hey ppl's, this has just happened to me a second time today. I happend once before when I was traveling. Though I think I have quite possibly found a link. While I was traveling i was useing the Win mobile app for facebook to upload photos (which i hardly use) Then today I was using it (randomly) again and shortly after the micro SD card was unreadable. Could it be something to do with the app / the way it creates multiple subfolders to cache photos from facebook profiles?
I just bought a kingston 32gb class 6 micro sdhc but when ever i put it in my hd2 it just freezes up and as soon as I remove the card it works fine again. At first i though that it was a fake so I:
1)performed multiple tests,
2)reformated a 1000 times,
3)even putting 20gb of data just to make sure.
Turns out that it is authentic and it works perfectly on my girlfriend's htc BalckStone it also worked when I installed NAND (which i later removed due to insufficient memory).Ive been searching for days, I think its a windows mobile issue, any tips??
I have very limited computer abilities and want to use CM7 when my Nook Color arrives. I want to purchase a Sandisk SD card that is already programmed with CM 7 (unless there is a better version available) and is "overclocked" and all I have to do is put it in and turn on the NC.. I need to know if anyone can recommend someone who sells the proper classed card and "no brainer" directions. I have waited several months to save the money for the NC and want to be running as efficiently as possible.
PS- I did try to find the answer on here before I typed this and could not get through the massive amount of info on here.. This forum is wonderful and thanks to all who are so willing to help those of us that are struggling a bit..
Thank you ahead of time.

Im a kid so I can't sell mine and I looked around and couldn't find any. I think your best bet is to set asid your fears and start learning the world of uSD cards.
Doesn't get an easier than this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
The worst that can happen is you mess up and have to reformat the SD and start again.
Also, I found it easier to do gapps at the same time as the CM7 install. After CM7 boots just touch the 4 corners, starting in the upper left and go clockwise, to exit the setup wizard, setup your wifi and then add your google account.

There are such cards available for sale at other sites (and based on work of xda people), but if you've saved up to buy the NC, you know that money doesn't grow on trees. I think your best bet is to use the link in post #3 here. First buy a SanDisk class 2 or 4 (at most) 2, 4 or 8G micro sd card. The brand and class are important, but GB size is not, although smaller ones are very cheap now. I got an 8G at amazon for about $10.
You can follow the steps on that link, and will probably have questions as you do. I did, and people here were very nice to answer quickly and everything went great. It's really more fun that way, and I think you'll do fine.
Here are a couple more links that I found very helpful, in addition to the main one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4nenR-mNo0
http://quinxy.com/2011/04/01/comple...c4-android-2-3-gingerbread-on-the-nook-color/
If you make an mistakes along the way, it's only the sd card and you can start over. Your NC system is untouched. Good luck!
The risk of buying a pre-loaded card from ebay/craiglist/etc is that you won't have had the first-hand experience of setting up CM7 under your belt. Eventually you'll want to replace/update the ROM for some reason at which point you'll need to learn the procedure anyway.
Given the strength of the NC community here, please consider trying your hand at doing it yourself. Folks here will be more than happy to help you out.
The help the process along a little bit, can you let us know what type of computer you're using and what it's running? (Mac vs Windows, Windows XP, Vista, 7, etc.)
One more tidbit, in terms of compatible sd cards, as others have already said, the Sandisk Class 2/4 microSDHC are very good for this work. Amazon, Walmart, Radio Shack, Office Depot all have these at very reasonable prices, so take your pick where to get it from. I would suggest getting an 8gb right off the bat, the 4gb feels small very quickly.
Thank you so much.. I will give it a try myself.. I have an Acer laptop running Windows 7. I appreciate all the input. I will order a Sandisk 8 MG Class 4 Micro SD card today..
Be sure to get the micro-SD to SD adapter unless your computer has a micro-SD port. Costco has 8 GB cards with adapter for a good price (they were on sale a few weeks ago).

Also make sure the SD reader/adapter is HC compatible. I have an older multi-card reader and Patriot brand micro SD to full size SD adapter and it was driving me crazy trying to figure out why I couldn't get either to get the computer to even detect a brand new Sandisk 8gb micro SDHC card.
another issue you might run into tho is that i found my laptops built in SD reader had issues and apparently others found the same thing too.. youmay have to find a friend with a component SD reader
We have a Soyo Bayone Extreme 9 in 1 media Card reader/writer combo, would that work?

Coincidentally, I also have an Acer laptop w Win7, with sd card reader slot at the front. I ordered this card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B1AR50. If your Acer is like mine, you do need the adapter, which often comes with micro cards, to read them. Lots of other good advice from members here.
It should work, you will still need a microSD to SD adapter (comes with a lot of microSD cards)
I have a MicroSd card and adapter from Sandisk thanks again guys..
You can do it. We all had to do it a first time too and the support here is great!
I actually ran it off of the sd card first to see if I liked it. Then I flashed it to the onboard memory.
Don't forget to register it before you flash it. After that you just use a google account for the market.
Good luck!
I appreciate all the help. I may be returning my unit due to an unexpected $2000.00 bill for some electrical work. I have to be a big girl and and wear my big girl panties..lol

Technically, they are not charging for CM7 - they are charging for the SD Card and the time it takes to prepare the card, right? If so, I don't think it's such a bad thing... As long as they give credit to the CM7 team, that is!
Hi. I have some problems in my note 2. And after check some things. And it's looks like the problem come from the sd card. I have 32 giga. And I wad try to format him. And check problems and all good. But in the the phone have problems...
So.. I am from israel and I search a good sd card. Of 64 GB. I found this in nice price. I'm not understand in cards.. so I ask here. This is the card
sandisk com/products/memory-cards/microsd/ultra-class10-for-android/
Change the space to .
64 GB..
Its good or search another?
Yes, it's a very good card. Not sure the note 2 can handle 64gb though.
It can handle 64gb cards that's what I'm using.

I've been using a Sandisk UHS 64GB and it's been fine.
You may have a counterfeit SD card. You might want to read this XDA thread.
You might also try formatting is with the "official" SD card formatter (from the SD Association, which AFAICT is a trade association for manufacturers).
Also - the phone's specs state "up to 64GB" but I've seen some posts from folks who say they are using 128s (which is a different format) successfully.
Speaking of counterfeit, if you've found a card for a "really nice price", it could easily be counterfeit (they're f'ing everywhere). I'd stick to places I could return the card - and test it as soon as I got it. In the US, eBay has a "get what you ordered - guaranteed" but I don't know if they're doing this outside the US, and I'm only 95% sure it'd cover a card that turned out to be counterfeit. Wherever you get it, test it right away. Returns are easier if they're soon after purchase.

My sd card (samsung, this time) is being reported in my Note 8 as corrupted. Now I'm going to lose my photos again. This is really getting to me.
I now only use name brand sd cards, Samsung or Scandisk. This has been happening in all my devices....first my S6. I thought it was just a cheap sd card, but when it happened again with a name brand one, I thought maybe an Android thing with the S6. But then it also happened (one time so far) in my Galaxy Book 12", which is a Windows device. Now, this morning, in my Note 8.
Any ideas why my sd cards seem to occasionally get corrupted for no reason? At this point, I do not believe I can trust any sd cards for strorage. Does it happen to anyone else?
Was the SD card bought directly from Samsung?
I don't think so, since this began I stopped buying from eBay and usually get my cards from Amazon.
Where do people usually buy from? I thought Amazon was relatively safe.

That and if from amazon. Make sure the product is fulfilled by Amazon. That way if stuff fake, they will replace with ease. Walmart another safe bet. Samsung also offers product identification on weather product is fake or not. You just send them pic and they will tell you. I've used that and it's free.
Ebay can be trusted only if seller has a lot of high feedback. Also the product has feedback from people.
Oooo I just had a thought....I installed the mag mount by Pitaka yesterday in my car and used it. Could that have done it? I've never used a magnetic mount before.

Flash memory is immune to magnets because there is nothing magnetic in them. Smartphones basically wouldn't be possible without it. I would just buy SD cards from local electronic or Office stores and don't buy the cheap brands. You may save money online from Amazon but only by a few dollars anymore. Physical stores have realized they need to stay pretty close to online stores prices or face extinction.

Strange...I've used either SanDisk or Samsung SD cards on a few devices over the last 4-5 years and none have corrupted. Maybe a rogue app or something causing a conflict? Seems like too many corruptions to just be bad luck.
NM Memory card not getting picked up after last update, anyone else experienced this?
Before last update the memory card was chosen as primary storage and was working fine for a while.
I've not seen anyone else mention the same problem so it looks like it's rare.
Im about to buy a genuine Huawei 128GB card but think I'll hold off for now until I see how this thread develops. Or doesn't.
These forums are nowhere near as busy as they used to be. Android has become less open source and development is stifled. Manufacturers not allowing b/l unlock certainly makes things less interesting.
Anyway, I hope you get some good advice here.

OK good luck and keep us informed.
Huawei sure benefitted us with their proprietary nano memory card and associated card reader...... what a great earner.
I have any one of 4 Micro SD cards here that I could have used.
Told you these forums are quiet (dead).
I bit the bullet this morning and ordered a genuine (it better be) Huawei 128GB card for £41.00. Ten minutes later I wanted to check something on the listing and the exact same item had increased to more than £46.00. Crazy

I didn't had any issue with the (original) NM card after .190 update, but I'm not using it as primary storage
I'm also on .190 so I'll post back here and update how things go when my card arrives on Monday.
Thanks @TorpedoGirl
I thought it was dumb too to not have an SD card slot. I guess they got me too as I went with a bigger capacity phone to not have to buy a card.
I got my card delivered a day early, only 3 days from ordering it to arriving from Spain. I've always had great service from Amazon.
The packaging was different from what I'd previously seen, it was much smaller and printed in Chinese so I was a bit wary.
Anyway I checked it out on the Huawei website and it was validated as a genuine OEM card.
After inserting it and powering up I did a format and was surprised to see the capacity showing as:
Used 10.01 GB / 123.81 GB.
It's a new card, I'd not put a single file on it.
I've since copied some music and pictures to it, keeping the original files in internal storage in case there are any problems with the card - hopefully there won't be. I'm still using internal storage as default location.
My phone was on 10.0.0.190 but I got the update to .195 earlier today and so far everything is OK with the NM card.
If I do have anything go wrong I'll update back here.
@gavinwatson
Have you had any luck with your original problem or is your card still not recognised?

Sure, np.
I just had a look at that Yaomaisi, it reads SD cards too so that's a bonus - I think the Huawei reads only the NM card.
Things are still OK with my NM card, no problems at all.
I bought a Yaomaisi NM card and it worked flawlessly for 2 months, then wasn`t read at all after an update. Bought a Huawei NM card reader (does both sd and nm) but the Yaomaisi wasnt able to be read in the official reader. I spoke to the seller of the card and they said that only Huawei cards could be read in the official reader and they sent me the Yaomaisi NM card reader and the card was read with no errors - the only problem being that i had to format and put everything back on the card(100gb of music).
So i`ll wait and see what happens with the update to 10.1
NM Card Reader Arrived
I received the NM card reader just now, luckily all my data was still on the NM card that I could see with the reader.
Copied data off, formatted card, inserted into phone and working again.
I think this time I will not be using the NM card as default storage though, not sure if that was the cause but lets see how it goes. (Assuming it might be as the read/writes would be constant with accessing apps over the card)
That's great, no data loss. Hope you have no further problems.
My cards is still functional, hope I also don't have any future problems.
My nano memory card is not being recognized now. It worked fine for six months and was also selected as the primary storage. I'm on update 10.0.0.195. I'm currently waiting for a card reader and also hoping for a happy resolution. If I lose the data l'll be devastated. I used it for taking photos. Six months worth of photos, not backed up anywhere... I have obviously learned my lesson!
OEM Huawei card or generic?
