HELP BY CABLE THAT THE OTG IS NOT DETECTED BY MY HTC Désiré 626S - Desire 626 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a key otg but it does not detect nothing they say that my cell has q have a small voltage other indexes that i have q buy a cable hub to function with the current others say i need a program but all without success help me please!

Im currently trying to find how to get otg capabilities on rooted htcd626s as well. Once i figure it out i will post here for u ok?

the stock Kernel doesn't support it and the board doesn't supply power without a y cable waiting for HTC to post the Kernel source then I'll see if I can get support

If you look at my profile, you will see the other post that I am subscribed to. That is a way to root this phone

Not good news...
Ok so without a power source for the thumb, you won't be able to even see it is there, even with a rooted phone. Sort of like external hard drives for computers. Ever notice how you can't just plug it into the computer, it must also be plugged into an outlet? Same rule applies. There are y cable otg plugs out there, however. Just have to look. Remember, power source, the micro USB, and the female USB hub.

HOST USB or USB HDMI Video Card ? Any way to use usb port to use usb devices ?

Usb port is it locked or there is possibility to use it like usb host ?
To manage copy pictures of a camera to phone without pc by usb adaptator.
Samsung talked about usb 2 hdmi cable and think if its real it use some usb video card supported by phone(because of physic material imcompatibily of hdmi nd usb)
May there is a way to dev a tool or hack to get it works...
Aah!! Finally somebody like minded!!
I had been scouring forums for something like this. USB OTG would be an excellent add on to this phone. If not OTG, at least host would be an excellent idea.
No idea whether the existing USB Host driver for Nexus one would work on this one.
The processor on SGS already supports USB Host (not sure about OTG though). This has been pointed out in their press release - w w w .samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/newsView.do?news_id=1043
I am just wondering - should we request Samsung themselves via mass petition to open up this feature on SGS?
some USB devices might be compatible, like the 100/1000 Mbps USB to RJ45 plugs
those same ones works in Windows Mobile it should work as well for Android, however a driver will be required.
mouse and keyboard support should work out of the box
external USB keys for storage, or even USB mass storage devices should work out of the box as well.
usb audio... hmm... not sure what else at the moment
Hi AllGamer
Thanks for the reply. So how exactly do we get this going on SGS?
I am much more interested in having USB HDD support on SGS (hopefully without an ext power source - am I asking for too much? ).
Are you suggesting that the N1 fix should work here also? Can somebody help us with a "How To" to enable this on SGS?
Cheers!!
Coooolboyz
you can plug in any USB mass storage devices (USB hard drives) and it should work.
However, you might not get enough power from the usb port, you'll still need need power cord for your external usb hard drive.
I know on my HTC windows phones works like that, it should be the same for Android.
I'll try that when i get a chance.
you just a need a USB female to a mini USB male cable
yep!! you are right about power!!! I am trying to get a cable - hopefully in couple of weeks should have this.
but I am wondering if all this would work without proper drivers in it. Would SGS have USB HDD drivers in it already?

I can see one problem, You will only be able to use Fat32 drives unless someone compiles NTFS / HFS+ into the kernel. Ext3/4 is already done so I don't see many problems. What I recommend you do is get some sort of adaptor for Female USB > Micro USB and test it out with a flash stick or you can hack one .
Yeah - I understand the difficulties of having NTFS support outside the MS world.
I didnt know that ext3/4 were already a part of the kernel!! Is this by default available in all Android kernels?
For USB Host cable - I am guessing that this one can be used - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250671106072 (same as what Sven used for N1 USB Host capabilities).
But I seriously doubt plug and play would work (that would be too much of an expectation! )
Does any body have that cable here, who can check out if SGS does actually work in USB Host/OTG mode?
Sven has try with a Galaxy another Host Driver
h t t p : / / sven.killig.de/android/Galaxy/
Hm what can we do with these files?
However, any news about this?
Maybe, we could ask some Galaxy S kernel developers about this.

You need a USB Host to go cable - they are pretty cheap off of ebay.
USB hard drives don't always work - at minimum you will need a powered hub.

i know wht USB on the means but how do i enable it. i have tried connecting with a pendrive with the help of the USb on the cable but it does not show .
Once you plug your on the cable in the phone will inform you that usb connecter s connected. Whatever you plug in at the other end of otg cable work run unless it is not supported.

Just plug it in and look in My files. It will show as usbstorage.
I have an official samsung OTG cable, it works fine on the SGS2, but doesn't appear on the Galaxy Note under usbstorage.
Anyone else out there having similar problems?
i had grab some ebay OtG but after unmount and remove the OTG it causes wakelock which drain alot of juice.
I am also facing problems with OTG . when i plug in the cable thr is not msg nor anything happens in phone. please could any one tell me how to enable it may be with kernel or custom rom or may be anything else.
I also want to know this as well,I have spent considerable time yesterday trying to make this work but no luck at all,I would appreciate if someone could help,as I have seen a video in this forum where the guy was able to.connect a mouse to it stating that it is supported out of the box.
I was able to get it to work with a pendrive and a mouse with no problems, but I couldn't get a keyboard or my 2.5" external drive to mount.
Details:
My OTG cable was from DealExtreme for $2.30 or something.
My pendrive was FAT32 formatted.
My mouse was a basic $10 optical one.
My 2.5" external was NTFS, which probably goes some way to explaining why it didn't work even when I gave it some extra power from my desktop PC too.
My keyboard was a standard USB. I also tried a Logitech keyboard with a wireless USB dongle but that didn't work either.
I watched a whole film off my pendrive with no issues. I messed around with the mouse a bit, but the cursor moved too slowly for my taste and the scroll wheel didn't scroll webpages, which is half the reason I'd plug a mouse in anyway.

If you get no message when the cable is plugged in on it's own, chances are it is a problem with the cable. I bought a cable of Ebay which didn't work, so I bought a different one and that did.

I think that is only an adaptor, so you should patch kernel to enable host mode; but afaik that patched-kernel works only on froyo rom..
That cable works BUT, you need a power source to actually have the OTG working. Look for some Y cable. The Y cable should look like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-MALE-TO...ultDomain_0&hash=item337569b063#ht_500wt_1413
Except instead of mini usb end, you need female usb end.
you plug one end of the usb to phone and the other one to any usb power source.
You need the Y cable since Incredible S doesn't provide any power out from its microusb port, unlike the sgs2.
Of course you need to have a ROM that have the OTG capable kernel, I think those ICS should work, since OTG should be enabled on all ICS kernels.

If external power needed i dont see a use sadly .It would be nice to plug ur frnds pen drive and copy something in the move...
i actually tried it. Nothing happens. Don't waste your money. Your phone will not be able to detect the pen drive.

Well, most people doesn't use flash drives these days, you can always use some online storage like dropbox etc, or email it to you.
The limitation of the system is the fat32, fat32 will not allow any file to be bigger than 4gb in 1 chunk, so you can't copy a whole hd movie out of someone's flash drive. And most flash drive now is 16gb+ and formatted in NTFS out of the box. All 3.5 external hdd is self powered, which makes it possible for you to read it from your device, but the chances of that drive is formatted in fat32 is really slim.
So yea, its a good thing to have but I think think its that usable though.
Can someone tells me which rom has OTG function?
Thx
there is a kernel support IS otg
but it's for android 2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097756
i have never seen otg support in any IS gb or ics rom

USB Port

Does the USB port have any other function other than power?
Don't think so, only power AFAIK.
I plugged it into my computer and even tried pressing and pressing/holding the button on the Chromecast but my computer didn't indicate any hardware plugged in.
I wonder if the data pins are even wired to anything internally.
UPDATE: The USB cable that comes with it may not work for data transfer, tried it with my phone and it didn't work. So I tried a normal microUSB cable but still nothing.

It has bluetooth... so in theory that could be a simple alternative... we just need to figure out how to access hidden menus.

I tried this with a self powered USB OTG cable, just to see if the Chromecast would blink, bing, or do anything to show recognition, no dice. Also tried booting with a USB drive in, no difference.

Examining board
Based on examining the photos of the motherboard on ifixit.com...
Component EM1 appears to be a USB Common Mode Choke. That goes on the D+/D- pair which you can see routed from the USB port, so it wouldn't be present if there wasn't some use for data communication over the USB port. (Cost sensitive equipment.) The flip side of the PCBA shows TP1-TP20 (Where TP19 and TP20 appear to be GND). My guess is in that mix you have a JTAG port for programming/testing the unit initially with a pogo pin rig (evidenced by the dimples observed in each of those locations), and there might be more high/low GPIO pins where one might allow the unit to enter its USB data mode.

Looks like its already been rooted. With what looks like a dual usb otg. They don't go deep into what specific cable but, I would guess it is a generic dual usb one off ebay, or amazon, heres a quick one i pulled from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Cable-P...8&qid=1375052489&sr=8-3&keywords=Dual+Usb+otg
But if you read into it, they say you can root, but unless your a developer you probably wont get any benefit of rooting....yet, if at all.

Please correct me if Im wrong, but the cable you linked only charges the thumbdrive/keyboard/mice/etc NOT the Chromecast so how would one root it since it does need power from usb plug? I've been searching for correct cable and cant find it; link to correct cable would be greatly appreciated!!!

I own that cable from Amazon and it should work. It brings in +5v from a charger connected to the female microUSB port and then splits it to the female full size USB port and the the male microUSB port so both the USB host device and the USB peripheral device are getting power.

I also bought that powered OTG cable off Amazon and it will power the Chromecast as well as provide the means to flash the Chromecast via a USB thumbdrive. When you apply power to the Chromecast, it automatically flashed the bin from the USB drive. There was no interaction required (or even possible). Of course this was on the original firmware - if your Chromecast updated itself, you have lost the ability to root the device at this time.
Clearly the Chromecast does sense the USB drive and pulls data from it during the initial boot sequence. However I'm not sure if it would ever work for other devices such as keyboards or storage devices, etc.
I'm not sure why anyone would want to hook those types of devices up to the Chromecast however. Once you have root, you can telnet into the device, so adding a keyboard doesn't seem that important. The whole idea of the device is that you send it media from other devices and control it via that other device. Adding storage for example doesn't seem important since it can pull media off the network already (ie a NAS or another computer).
Anyway. That has been my experience with it so far. It's a long winded answer to more than just your question about the OTG plug.
I would personally love the ability to send audio out without having an hdmi TV be on through the usb somehow...

Htc desire 626s usb otg capabilities?

Hi, i recently rooted my phone and used the Post in the forums to do so, here is a pic of the kernal and all that. My question is why can i still not use my otg? Downloaded host diag, checker, helper, nothing is working. Can someone please tell me where to go from here? There are spaces so i could post the url.
http ://i63. tinypic. com/24ys9z5. jpg
seems kernel doesn't have the driver for it also the phones board doesn't supply power to the cable so you would need a y cable to supply power. Im still waiting for HTC to post the kernel source so I can make the modifications I need to it. It's been almost a month since they said they elevated my request for the source to their dev team if its not posted in a week I'm going to write them again.
There is a app I saw the other day called "stick" something that enabled phones with no otg support to use one. It was in a YouTube video about must have root apps , sorry I couldn't help more than this. I did order an otg cable after watching it.
Ok, ill look to see if it works
Nope. Still won't work. Power must be supplied for it to be registered to the phone.

I had no luck with a powered Y-cable either. I got OTG to work with my XT894 only after connecting a powered USB hub to my OTG cable, then connecting a USB flash drive to the hub.
