Just a general remark:
The new Win10 update from microsoft wich is rolling out as of today solves a lot of issues on the x98 tablets.
For example networking issues on mobile plans are solved, battery indicator fixed, no more flashing of notification shade, overall response much faster. And that's just at first glance.
This looks pretty cool!

Thanks ! it is workable when remove SD card . they could upgrade to 586 successful .
What about the orientation problem with the new update!
Orientation is all messed up again and the reg file from the drivers pack does not work any more!
No problems on both x98s. Came from original bing 8.1, upgraded to 10 and now to the new build without issues. C5j6 and c8j6.
On c8j6 cameras not working
3g, wifi, screen rotation, gps all ok
on c5j6 all is working: camera, gps, 3g, wifi, screen rotation, sd card etc.

I'm having the same issue. Had to lock the screen into the correct position. Have not found a solution. I think I will need to mess around with the registry to fix it.
I tried the update twice on my dual with no success. I had removed the SD as I'd been warned about it : the first time it shut down, maybe because the battery was low (despite of the power supply being plugged). When I rebooted it said I needed 14Gb to start the update, so I plugged a OTG USB Key and gave its path. Then it started and downloaded the update again, and failed (I don't know when). Now I'm confused about how to do this update.

You need the SD and USB drives removed for it to update. Delete stuff to make room or go the reinstall route.
I still have issues with touch screen rotation after the update...
Thank you for your help. My windows partition is almost mint, I just installed the Window 10 pro from this forum, office, Kodi. There is 3gb of free space, afaik I can't do much better. I'll check wether there is to clean files from windows update, and I'll try again without SD/USB
Did you delete the previous Windows installs?
Old versions of Windows will be left on the drive in case you want to revert back and they take up a lot of space.
You can do drive clean and use the advanced or admin only option and check how much is in the old windows file.
I don't have my tablet with me or I could give you the exact path
With a 32 Gb partition you should have close to 16 Gb free... at least... I'm sporting windows 10 November update...
It failed again and again, I give up.
Questions to those who succeeded :
- how much free space did you have?
- did you have Windows 10 normal or PRO?

my teclast is original partitioned and the windows partition is 37.5GB in size.
at the moment I have over 16GB free space, this is with libreoffice, adobe première elements, utorrent and several small tools installed. all these were also installed before the november update.
I am using windows 10 home as official upgrade from 8.1bing
Hi,
I'm wondering: On Win10 (pre1511) my x98 (c5j6) always tries to install a new graphics driver - but always fails. ALso, I can manually start this process in the device manager, same result.
What else can I do?
Best wishes

Hey, I succeeded to get it to work on air II. I had to do the following:
- change the battery mode to never turn screen / power off when plugged
- cleaned c: drive - deleted system files (including windows updates to force redownload)
- ran the update and this time it worked
The other alternative is download the Microsoft Media Creation tool, create a new USB installation media (include updates), and then do a "clean" install (reinstall windows 10). This will install windows 10 with the 1151 build.
It's worth it as it now allows us to use the SD card to install apps!
Thank you for your feedback.
As I can't get more free space, I'll wait the next W10 big update. At this time, I'll format all partitions to get more space for windows, by reducing the android one.
I tried the media creation tool but not chosing a fresh install, only update. Failed.

same here on a C9J8 ?
would love to have a working camera for video calls. Any way to fix that?
oh, and the CPU seems limited to 1.6GHz?
Last night I installed an update for Windows 10 version 1511 (KB3124200) and everthing seems to be smoother. The only problem I have is that the battery stays at 7% for a long time. Tried to completely discharge it but doesn't work...

That's because AERO doesn't run at the moment at screen resolutions higher than 800*600.
Boot into SAFE MODE - Delete New Installed Graphic Card Drivers - Enable Windows 7 Classic theme in Windows and Reinstall drivers!
Can someone PLEASE reply ?
I am desperate. I deleted the HPA Partition in order to free up 3Gigs and installed Windows 7.
I followed all the tutorials, so i installed ECDriver (Vista Compatibility Mode + Run as Administrator) and Touch Screen Driver.
I mention that i see HTC Embedded Controller (in device manager) after installing ECDriver , but touch screen doesnt work (after installing touchscreen drivers) = No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display
What am i doing wrong ?!?
I also had the same problem, so, I've installed the VGA driver from the package the way mentioned somewhere here and in the same order, as I think the new VGA driver installed with the Win7 installation is missing an important bit at the end of the installation. After that, and after a reboot, the touch started, but I did not get a calibration screen. Even without the calibration, the screen seemed to be fine. I've also disabled Aero just in case as I did not want any more blue screens.
So you have installed ECDriver, Touchscreen and VGADriver (WinVista Compatible & Run as Administrator) in this order ?
When i install VGADriver, i get a 'Cannot copy'. I thought the driver was corrupt and tried re-downloading it, but this didn't solve the situation.
How did you manage to install it ?!?
First I've installed just touchscreen driver and it did not work, so I've installed EC driver and then touchscreen and it also failed. So, I've added the VGA. I think it did not want to install with Vista compatibility so I think I forced it through with XP compatibility, got a message saying the driver was older than what I had installed, I said yes, please, go ahead! It then installed and at the end some CMD windows poped up and then closed and I then installed touch screen again. Nothing seemed to have happened then, so I've restared the computer, had all my fingers crossed (very, very technical!) and voilá, touch screen was there.
Thanks for the support. I tried several times, following exactely your steps, but i didn't manage to make it functional.
Unfortunately I had to go back to Windows Vista.
Now i have Windows 7 Vista Ultimate SP2, instead of the preistalled Windows Vista Business OEM.
Althought it's running ok, i am waiting for the final version of Windows 7 (not the RTM that i tried installing).
Win7 installed = 7 GB, Windows Vista Ultimate = 14 GB :|
Hi
Sorry to hear that it did not work for you. Like I~ve mentioned elsewhere, the only thing that did not work for me all the way is the sd card that keeps dropping from explorer.
Did I mention that I did not do a clean install? I've installed it as an upgrade and had all the functions (Wifi, BT, Phone) on while upgrading to avoid the problem some people have of the wifi connection going missing when upgrading(W7)/downgrading(XP). I've been busy at work so did not have time to use it much or test it some more.
Well, you missed to mention that
I tried a fresh install, after deleting the HPA partition (now i have 37GB Hdd, instead of 33).
Maybe that's why it didn't work for me...
A friend of mine gave my his Shift to try installing Win7 via Upgrade. Maybe it works.
BTW : Windows 7 Ultimate SP2 is running just perfect on Shift. Too bad it occupies 20GB (after drivers and updates)
Android 2.0 (Eclair) for CDMA Diamond (DIAM500)
Instructions
Put the files from my zip file (zImage, modules, startup.txt) in the root of your Internal Storage
From this xda post, download the latest XDANDROID build.
From the XDANDROID 7z file, extract system.sqsh, haret.exe, initrd.gz, calibration, conf/, media/, and (optionally) AndroidApps/ into the root of your Internal Storage
From stinebd's rootfs autobuild site, download the latest rootfs, rename it to rootfs.img, and put it in the root of your Internal Storage.
If you are updating from an earlier version of Android or just want to clear your settings, you can delete data.img from the root of Internal Storage.
Run haret.exe and boot
Notes
Touchscreen calibration values are stored in the ts-calibration file in the root of Internal Storage. To re-calibrate, delete the file and restart.
The "end call" button takes the phone in and out of sleep.
Android's "Menu" button is mapped to the top-left/Home button. The 5-way pad and the scroll ring both work.
Android's "Home" button is mapped to the power button on top of the phone.
Wi-Fi is working, although Linux sometimes crashes when WiFi is turned off.
If you want to try Android 1.6: From this Android build, extract haret.exe, initrd.gz, system.sqsh, calibration, calibration_diamond, and the AndroidApps/, conf/ and media/ directories into the root of your Internal Storage.
ChangeLog
3-23-2010:
Touchscreen double-tap issue should be gone, big thanks to eval- and especially bzo
HTC wired headset and 3.5mm headphones both work
3-8-2010:
Hardware 3D is re-enabled (accidentally disabled it)
3-6-2010 Update:
Bluetooth now works, big thanks to bzo
Touchscreen should be improved
Power-off now resets the phone instead of crashing
2-25-2010 Update:
When WiFi is turned off the phone shouldn't crash
2-19-2010 Update:
Power collapse now works, so power consumption should be much lower when the screen is turned off.
WiFi should work, as long as you use a new rootfs from stinebd's autobuild site. If you tried to use WiFi in the last ~2 weeks and it failed, WiFi still may not work with this new rootfs and kernel. See this post for solutions.
2-17-2010 Update:
Microphone works without having to make a call in WinMo
WiFi still isn't working, but I'll post a patched rootfs soon to fix it
2-10-2010 Update:
Hardware 3D acceleration is working under Eclair
Brought in makkonen's fixes for battery status--they're rough, but better than being stuck at 5% all the time
WiFi is not working at the moment, but I'll lean on the XDANDROID guys to get my fix in.
2-3-2010 Update:
Linux is now using much more of the phone's memory: 180MB vs. 103MB, thanks to some patches from the Hero and Droid Eris kernel source.
Touchscreen calibration is now supported with the Feb. 2 XDANDROID build, thanks to makkonen and phh.
1-27-2010 Update:
Stability should be much improved
A new touchscreen driver is included that is a big improvement over the old one, thanks to makkonen and phh. A calibration utility is coming soon. Until then, calibration is stored at the bottom of conf/eclair.user.conf, and you can put your WinMo calibration in there with this guide.
The USB product ID has been changed in the hope that ADB will work on Windows. Try it out and post back if it works.
1-22-2010 Update:
The power button (on top of the phone) is now mapped to Home, and holding it down will show apps running in the background
Sound, data, and WiFi should all be working
1-11-2010 Update:
Tested and working with Eclair
Deep sleep should be working better (use less power)
12-26-2009 Update:
Kernel improvements:
The speaker and earpiece now work (but not the microphone)
Screen backlight control works
Rootfs improvements:
Thanks to makkonen's RIL fix, cell data works in Android without having to end the connection in WinMo first
I made a change to /init that might help mjb94, hackman238 and others that have partitioned internal storage. If you were getting a "cannot mount" error on boot, let me know if this fixes it.

We do have a Google wave for Android--right now it's a cross between a wiki-status-report and chat room. I'm not sure how to give a link to a wave, but it's open to everyone and called "Android on HTC Windows Mobile Phones (Diamond, Raphael, Blackstone, Rhodium, Topaz)". If anyone wants a wave invite, PM me and I have a few to give out.
Enjoy Android, and if you need help or have questions, PM me or post here
Donations are greatly appreciated , or help finding an engineering job in San Diego!
thanks mr. pippy for all your work. my wife is happy that once the microphone works i wont want to buy a new phone!

For the latest version, it will boot for me, but as soon as I have a 3g connection it seems to reboot any time I touch anything.
Boots up fine
Latest build boots up and seems to run fine for several hours but after playing with it, it seems to get more and more unstable. I went 10 hours with it plugged in sleeping and then unplugged it and used it moderately for about 3 hours before it crashed. Now it's crashed 3 times within minutes of each other. Good stuff though, can't wait until it's stable enough to use full time. Diamond has plenty of nuts to run it pretty good. Sure would be nice to have a dual boot phone. No reason to upgrade and get the best of both worlds...

Sorry, my kernels are only tested on DIAM500. The RAPH500 mtype (set in startup.txt) is 2182, you should have better luck with that. Also, this thread is for RAPH800 but there may be some RAPH500 people there.

Did you reformat or repartition? Would you happen to be one of those people who has a partitioned card? Basically, I think the layout of your MC can have as many partitions as you want on it as long as mmcblkp1 (the first partition) is a fat32 partition with the needed files on it. There's also a little info on this problem on the wiki, lavender.t posted a solution that works 100% of the time if you're able to enter keystrokes.

Possible fix for microphone
I haven't tested this yet, but blast3r in irc tested a workaround for the microphone this morning and said it worked:
In WinMo, start a voice call and leave it connected while you open HaRET and boot into Linux. In Android, the microphone should now work for voice calls.

Hello guys,
After more than a week of non-stop reading and trying to fix my problem I decided to register here on XDA Forum and ask you guys for help.
I'm wonder if there is a solution for problem I have with HD7 and of course to confirm if I'm right...
Maybe it's very simple to fix, but I don't know how and because it's my first broken phone for +10 years I spent so much time trying to fix it.
Okey so let's stary short story about my phone... I bought HTC HD7 phone in ~Jan/Feb 2012. From that time I flashed it many times with custom roms and used RSPL/HSPL - no Goldcard and service Jtag.
Anyway there was something wrong with that phone - not really know what, but with no reason and randomly its software hangs and after reboot loose all data - this happen to me few times before. (I bought it brand new).
And now 8 days ago this "Memory Loss" trick happens again. But this time, there was no way to initialize system again - I mean OS startup and displayed some first initialization steps, but... wait a second: "Low storage memory" message appears. So I see memory card was not recognized and in about it shows 13MB of Total space and 0MB free. So I started researching and reading and of course from beginning I expected that microSD card is damaged.
This tooks me 8 days and my rooms now looks like, so please guys help me

... and problem still not fixed
------------------------------------------------------
1) I spent few days on downloading recommended software by users with similar problem to mine - Format SD card issue after WP7 (used on a PC, laptop...)
- ..and also I reflashed my old HTC G1 to get more disk tools bundled into FW and tried from basic DD wipe these protected cards...
Status: No success. (I didn't knew before how SD Protection really works...)
2) I found out on Microsoft website note about WP7 and SD cards. (everyone should read):
MS WP7 SD Memory: goo.gl/LMQ2l
:highfive: High five for Microsoft - I believe people now complain how Microsoft sucks is because of use protected area of SD cards in new phone OS and I guess they complain exactly the same when Microsoft is not secure enough... :silly:
Okey so I found great short list of devices that support Protected Area of SD cards and are able to format it/erease them. There was highly recommended (and I agree too) to use Nokia phone on Symbian - FAST AND 100% WORKING. Unfortunately a friend with N95 could bring me that phone at next one day and it was morning, so I was looking and trying other devices...
Status: (broken?) microSD not recognized by Nokia 6600.
Next day status: (broken?) microSD after 3 errors successfully and quick formatted. Double checked, wiped and looks like it works fine. Thanks to Symbian and Nokia N95
NOTE FOR EVERYONE who has a problem with protected SD after WP7/8 and it's not visible anywhere (PC, WP7/8):
GO AND GET NOKIA WITH SYMBIAN AND DON'T WASTE TIME!
3) I installed back to the phone 8GB SanDisk microSD card freshly formatted in N95 and then on PC to FAT32 Primary partition with cluster size 4 and 8KB, but the card was still not recognized. Not even touched... I used for test other 2GB and 4GB one but I was thinking that maybe these are smaller and maybe too old so not compatible. However the 4GB one was 2nd class card.
4) I listen to someone's who wrote on a forum: "go and buy new one it must be working". So I bought one - SanDisk, model exactly the same mentioned by a user who successfully fix microSD WP7 issue.
Status: brand new microSD not recognized.
5) And now is a time for ONE of TWO BEST jokes on XDA I found. It's: RUU_Schubert_XBMOD_V1.01
I spent more than 2 days trying to flashing this ROM with different Radios and trying to update HD7 with the StorageLock.cab
But how to send anything to device with not enough space and with the ROM that brings huge space around 3MB?! ...and the words of another genius guy who say that this method works 100%. And to be sure do this from Goldcard (not explained what).
6) So I made a Y-cable like connector - used two USB ports from some old USB-hub and power source from the same dismounted little bit USB Hub. Connector looks like a USB in a condom:
------------------------------------------------------
IMAGE LINK: goo.gl/9C98o
------------------------------------------------------
7) CID I read using my old BlueAngel/QTEK 9090/MDA III Pocket PC device running Windows Mobile 6.5 - custom from XDA of course ;]
8) When Goldcard was ready and S58 cleared I used it to flash XBMOD ROM as mentioned. No way to update it with that Cab. It was hanging at next reboot after applied .cab.
9) So I decided to mod this ROM little bit and cut it from Office and other things and include app in it. I'm not sure I've done it okey, but when I run Storage Lock, the app starts, notified me that SD card is unlocked. And asked to lock it? When I choosed Yes the Fail message appears.
So still not working...
If someone would to use lite XBMOD with bundled StorageLock inside the ROM as System part:
DOWNLOAD XBMOD w/ StorageLock included-----------
LINK: goo.gl/mpkP0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
10) And even I listen to this stupid and unbelievable idea that back cover with WiFi antenna needs to be properly installed - otherwise SD card will not be detected - I made fake one for tests and I added additional 3 Ohms resistor to make more real if there is installed some measure software...
Still nothing.
11) I flashed many ROMS through DIAG mode and classic method (Vol-Down + Power) - and I didn't get back my SD card recognized.
Here is a list of FW I tried:

Hello
I bought a Teclast X98 Air II . It says it comes with android installed. Does anyone knows any way to install windows 8.1 on it?
I managed to obtain win8.1 from the teclast forum, the firmware for this specific Air II.
But there was nothing mentioned regarding the bios part. Any ideea?
I will upload 8.1 firmware soon on some share.
Any help? Anyone else with an Air II?
Thanks
Subscribed to this topic as I will also receive my air II very soon and want to install Windows onto it.

done
good news:
1. received my teclast x98 air II
2. managed to install and fully run windows 8.1 bing edition.
will post in the short future a full tutorial that will include rooting, installing, activation
will also provide every software / files needed.
does anyone recommend any file sharing service?
Try firedrive.com - as far as i remember you get 50gb for fairly fast storage.
And most of all - thanks for your help, it would be great if you could write a tutorial here.

Subscribed too, I'm also very interested in how you managed to install windows. I ordered my x98 air 2 a couple of days ago. I will be going to install windows as soon as I get it.
bios brick
can someone send me a right bios for the teclast x98 air 2? i only find x98 air or x98 3g.
i want the bios for android or for windows or both, i take all i can get.
now my tablet cant startup, without a bios. i need a new for external flash.
sorry for my bad english, im from germany, i hope u can understand me
edit:
if i get the bios data i can install any other windows not only the bing version. but with the brick i cant do anything, and i cant find any bios for windows and cant find for android...
i get the hardware driver from another(german) side for display and so on, i just only need the bios data ...
Thanks. I'll be watching this thread as well.
I am seeing conflicting information on whether this tablet has GPS capabilities or not. I would love to have someone confirm what it actually has. If this doesn't have GPS then I'd be curious to know if there are any alternatives.
I am too new to the forum to post links but you can search on YouTube for videos from user HONGKONGEEK where they have posted an Unboxing video for this version of the tablet.
that's awesome, mkdk!!
Instead of the Win8.1 Bing version, is there any chance of flashing a Pro version instead?
I bought this tablet with the high resolution with the intention of installing Win 8.1 so I don't have a pay a premium price for a nicer screen.
Can't wait until instructions are released!
This will be my first post of many .
Awesome work mkdk, did you follow instructions for the first air or the 3g version?
Bought the 3g version for my girlfriend and the android version works well for her. No luck for me with my air II since google play wont work, so now im looking to install windows instead .
Looking forward to the guide!

yes u can u only need the chines bios for windows, than u flash it and u can bootup all windows installations u want: xp, vista, win7, win8, win8.1.
u only need the bios file, than flash, than boot up windows from stick on a 3-usb-hub (u need mouse, keyboard and win-install-stick)
after installing u can take the chines hardware drivers for touchpad, sound and so on and its ready and u dont need anymore the mouse, keyboard or stick. than u can have a winxp tablet with touch, but it isnt usefull, may better win8.1 and all is easy or u can take win8.1 pro, what u want.
only need this .................. bios file... :crying:

AFAIK you can install Pro if you integrate the Teclast drivers into the image (use Wintoolkit & Rufus).

So how do you go about his, are the instructions from teclast x98 air 3g also valid for the air 2 when it comes to flashing the bios?
FIY i did the latest OTA from teclast on android and google play/services still does not seem to work so i guess android is a big nono, atleast for now.

*** I would count these instructions as obsolete due to some gripes with drivers, please refer to JonMichaels instructions in a later post. I will however leave this post if someone needs it as reference or has problems with the other method ***
Ok, so i managed to install both windows 10 32-bit and windows 8.1 pro N 32-bit!
I would not recommend windows 10 since i had a couple of issues there, but win 8.1 works very well with some small gripes that we might solve together!
First a small guide .
Guide to install windows 8.1
For the most part i could use the instructions in the thread for teclast x98 air 3G. I did however not use Teclasts bing version of windows, i created a win 8.1 pro iso instead and embedded the drivers.
Step 1: prepare the image
I only used one usb-drive for my installation (not the WINPE way as described here ), at first i tried with a 32gb drive but it did not work, a 8gb kingston memory did however work. So you might have to test a couple of drives to get it to work. Checkout this post to grab Wintoolkit and Rufus, you will use wintoolkit to inject drivers and refus to prepare a bootable drive.
Once you have these tools you will need to find a windows 8.1 pro 32-bit image to use, i took mine from dreamspark (for students), but you should be able to get one from microsoft directly. Do however mind that i could not bypass the "insert key stage" for a trial version, i had to get a key for this. If you want a fully working win 8.1 pro you will need a key when you install the OS (I don´t know where they are the cheapest, perhaps G2A).
Download the drivers for Teclast x98 air 3G and extract them to a folder. Start up wintoolkit and press all-in-one-integrator to start the embedding process. Browse and select the image that you downloaded earlier. Select the drivers tab and press the Add selection in the menu bar, select the folder with the teclast x98 air 3g drivers, then press start and select a place for the modified image to be storded. Once this is completed (takes some time) close the all-in-one-integrator and select ISO maker, select a place to create a new iso and name it something like "win8.1".
Insert the drive you want to use as a boot-device for your newly created image. Go ahead and start up Rufus and select the drive you want to use. Under partition schema make sure that the GPT partition schema is selected, also make sure that you format it in FAT32. Press the little CD symbol and select the image that you created earlier and press start (this will also take a while depending on the drives writing capabilites). If all goes well you will now have a bootabel usb-drive with win 8.1 pro that the tablet will accept.
Step 2: Flash the bios with the one given to us by nandika6
The next step is to flash the bios to the version that nandika6 gave us. Follow the instructions in this post and use the commands for "if you have not rooted your device".
I had some gotchas with this, simply downloading the adb driver did not work as i could not detect the device in the command prompt. This was solved when i ran the intel manufacturing tools and got the correct usb drivers for the tablet. I did however not do anything with these tools ( look into this if you dont want to keep windows forever, said something about that, i will however not switch back to the buggy Android).
Step 2: Install windows
Once the flash is complete you will have to shut down the tablet and insert the boot-drive. If you end up in the EFI-Shell this will probably be due to the usb-drive not being compatable (this happend to me), in that case repeat step one with another drive. It could also be because the drive is not first in the boot priority, connect a keyboard and pres ESC when booting to get to bios, select the drive and reboot.
If all goes well you will only need to connect a usb-drive since the drivers for touch will work on the fly, if not you will need a mouse and keyboard. The drivers can be manually installed via the device manager (alot of warnings here if this is the case, solve them all by inserting a usb-drive with the drivers folder from earlier).
When this is done you will hopefully have a working istallation of windows on the tablet!
Some gripes
Screen rotation does not work for me at the moment. I solved this in windwos 10 with a file that comes with the drives, this did however make the tablet rotate the wrong way. I will look into this and post a solution if i can, please feel free to inform us if you find a solution first .
The camera is not working for me right now, will look into this.
The tablet will automatically adjust screen brightness even if you turn this of in the power management. This is caused by the intel driver that overrides this, open the intel controll panel and disable active dimming here to solve the issue.
@Thundermeister: helpful guide. Maybe your gripes can be fixed using an updated driver (from the Air II Windows image).
Did you by any chance look into making a WIMBoot image instead of a normal install?

Thanks for the tips mtr33, will take a look at that image (if i can find it ). A WIMboot looks very nice, the space saving would be real nice to have. Right now the install takes up around 8 gb on the tablet. I also found some Onda users having the same problem with the rotation, gonna take a look at that image as well, the tablets seem to use the same sensor for orientation.
For all of you having problems with Google Play store, I have a fix here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56779242
This works on both 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 ROMs.

How to install Windows 8.1 on a Teclast X98 Air II Android Tablet:
You will need:
2 USB Memory sticks - 1 small (no more than 8 GB) & 1 large (6 GB or more)
1 USB Hub (preferably USB2 & powered)
1. Go to this web address 1drv.ms/1EQ1X5v (Microsoft Onedrive) & Download all the files to your computer.
2. Plug the small memory stick into your computer & format it (Right Click on the drive's icon then scroll down & Click on Format) using FAT32 File System & set the Volume Label to WINPE (all caps).
3. Decompress WinPE_User_20140814.rar to your computer & copy the files to the root directory of the memory stick. Eject & remove the stick.
4. Plug the larger USB memory stick into your computer & format it using NTFS File System.
5. Decompress X98_Air_II_Windows_20141022.part1.rar to your computer & copy to the root of the 2nd memory stick. Eject & remove it from your computer.
5. On your Android tablet, go to Settings, Developer Options, & check USB Debugging (then Ok).
6. Decompress X98-Air II-WIN8 bios.rar to your computer.
7. Connect one end of the USB data cable to your computer & the other end to your tablet (close all running programs on your computer & make sure the tablet has at least a 50% charge).
8. Open the X98-Air II-WIN8 bios folder & Right Click on X98-Air II-WIN8 bios.bat & Click on Run As Administrator (enter password if prompted).
9. Type 1 & press enter to install the USB driver (Install driver dialog box should pop up, click Next to finish the installation).
10. Type 2 & press enter to Root the tablet (wait for it to finish).
11. Type 4 & press enter to flash the tablet's BIOS (do NOT disturb tablet or do anything on your computer while it is flashing!)
12. If there are no error messages, press the tablet's power key for 10 seconds to turn it off & pull out the data cable.
13. Plug both USB memory sticks into the USB Hub (& plug it in to the wall, if powered) then plug the Hub into the USB adapter (that came with the tablet). Plug the other end of the adapter into the tablet's micro-USB port.
14. Turn on your tablet & leave it alone until it is done installing windows (should take several minutes).
15. Hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off, then turn it back on.
16. After Windows 8.1 loads, change it to your desired language (it will be in Chinese) & enjoy!
Hey guys. Sorry to bother you in the X98 section, but since there's no section for the X80 yet and maybe the devices have some similarities, I hope it's ok.
The tablet worked fine, but to remove any possible bloatware under Windows or Android, I reset Windows. Somehow the device must have crashed (low battery?) and now I can't boot to Windows anymore (black screen and / or boot loop). Of course I made no backup / recovery disk. Android still works fine and I still get into BIOS / UEFI.
I tried reinstalling Windows via OTG with USB stick. I got to the point where I can choose a partition. Problem is, there are lots of partitions (Android, recovery, System and so on). I located the Windows partition, formatted / deleted it and tried to reinstall Windows on this partition. Just the exact way I would do it on a PC. Somehow it won't install on this partition. The error message says something about "the partitions are not in the recommended order. Further information for installation on GPT-volumes..." (I don't know the exact English phrasing because everything is in German). I chose "continue anyway". Then I get the message that "the EFI-system is not formatted in NTFS. Format the partition to FAT32 and start install procedure again". I press ok and get back to Windows Setup (Install now).
I also tried different repair and recovery options. One time I got error code 0xC0000034. Funny thing is, Windows still seems to be there because while trying to repair / recover I tried to load some drivers and could see the hard drives and folders under Windows.
I tried downloading the original roms here: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1qYEa8gc
You need a Baidu account for the larger files and after days and days I gave up to create such an account as it seems to work only with a mainland China number. There's an option for oversea mobiles but that's not working. I tried a QQ-account, but Baidu wants to link with it and you need that telephone number again. So apparently there's no way to get the original files that way.
I found some stuff here: http://www.needrom.com/download/teclast-x80-pro-dualboot/ but that's only a tutorial file in Chinese and some flash programms / drivers (also got them from Baidu - smaller files are possible to download without an account).
Long story short: I guess recovering Windows 10 is too much effort, so I want to make the tablet Android only and of course want to use the whole capacity for Android. I found a thread on reddit about removing Windows on the X98: https://www.reddit.com/r/teclast/comments/479eua/teclast_x89_how_to_remove_windows_10/
But I have no idea which partitions are definitely needed for Android and which ones I can safely delete. I found a partition map here: http://wheresmykeyboard.com/2015/08/teclast-x98-air-64gb-dual-boot-default-partition-map/ but that doesn't help me that much because they look different.
Attached you will find a photo of all the partitions on my device. I guess there are some which were created during the failed Windows installation because I had about 20 GB free space and now only 17.7 GB.
So is there anybody out there who knows if it's possible to remove Windows completely and which partitions I have to delete?
Did you ever figure this out? I just bought an X80 Pro and was thinking of doing something similar since I plan on making it an android-only tablet.

Yes please tell us how metalaxi , it'll be much appreciated.:good:
Ok, guys. Since some of you are asking how I did it, I'm going to try to explain it. It's kinda embarrassing that I don't remember the exact way but I hope it helps somehow. I used the tutorial from this site: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x80-plus-android-os-only/#login
Even though it's supposed to be for the Plus model, it also worked on the Pro. Btw, the guy Alex in that thread is me .
You can download all the files from my Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxEFqy4Rt9w_cnh3VG9ySk5sOHM
You need
- Android5.1 Upgrade Tool.rar
- X80 Pro (E3E6)- Dual OS - Android5.1-V1.04 Firmware.rar
- gpt.rar (Credit goes to Allember @techtablets-forum; hope it's ok to spread the file)
First you have to install the flash tool. Unrar the firmware and replace the gpt.bin. Then flash the firmware by checking BLANK.
Problem is that when I did all that, my Windows was already crushed and wasn't working anymore. I can't remember anymore if I erased the Windows partitions or any others beforehand. If you're not interested in Windows anymore, just flash it without changing or erasing any of the partitions. I guess by replacing the gpt-file, you do all that automatically.
I hope this somehow helps you. Feel free to ask for more help.
Have a good night!

Hi @metalaxi. Do you think its possible to like "reverse" and use the same files to remove Android instead and maintain the Windows 10? Appreciate to hear from you. Thanks!
Do we have to change the gpt before doing what you said in your PDF? Or I have just to follow your PDF?

Sorry, I can't answer that sufficent enough. As far as I know, you can just delete all partitions except the ones from Windows. Then format the unallocated space and merge it with the one from Windows. No guarantee!

It is not so hard. By mine it was only trial and error. Installiert all drivers an go in the bootloader with three Finger method. Go two levels up and go into bootloader. Then connect to PC and look in Intel flashing tool if connection is reconiced correctly. Select the downloaded file and select flash. Thats it. Device will reboot and you are ready to go.

Straightforward if you can obtain a USB stick capable of storing over 7GB (some 8GB sticks may not); USB hub (ideally a powered hub); USB keyboard; OTG cable.
1) Obtain the Windows files of the correct firmware. The procedure outlined here is for E6E9 firmware, but other firmware will be similar. Download the circa 6.5GB E6E9 firmware Windows files from https://yadi.sk/d/XEvRsoiD3Q4vKX or https://mega.nz/#F!I0AXGR5C!YiNFkZL9DIvzepH28qAjEQ (or from appropriate source for your firmware version).
Decompress the downloads as required to obtain six folders and two files.
2) Format the stick to FAT32.
3) Name the stick WINPE (five uppercase characters).
4) Copy the previously mentioned folders and files to the USB stick.
5) Plug USB stick and USB keyboard into hub; plug hub into OTG cable; plug OTG cable into tablet whilst the tablet is off.
6) Turn on tablet and immediately start tapping << Delete >> key on USB keyboard. This should open the UEFI config section prior to Android boot option. If the tablet displays the Android boot option, turn off the tablet, wait a few seconds, then turn on and start tapping << Delete >> key on USB keyboard again.
7) When in UEFI, touch the title menu option of << Save and Exit >> and look in the << Boot Override >> section for the name of your USB stick, then touch the name of your USB stick. The screen will immediately go blank as the tablet starts to boot from the USB stick.
8) After a few minutes, a numerically display of progress will be displayed in a CMD window.
9) After reaching 100% and nearing completion of the overall installation, the tablet will prompt for acceptance, so accept that prompt.
10) The setup will run a few final operations for a few seconds, then automatically reboot.
11) Done.
You will be prompted to complete the OOBE on each Windows boot until you complete OOBE.
