Lack of Development - Desire 626 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

We've successfully achieved root and custom recovery. HTC has posted RUUs and kernel source. Yet we have nothing to do with any of these things. Xposed, V4A, Titanium Backup, and pretty much any other root only app/mod won't work. Is anyone currently working on custom ROMs or tweaks for this device?

Let's me backup /restore apps and delete system apps that all that matters to me. Lol

A lot of mid range phones don't even see root in their life time. If somebody comes out with a custom rom I'll be ecstatic. But we really shouldn't expect one. Unless you or me learn how to build a ROM ourselves.
---------- Post added at 02:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:33 AM ----------
What it comes down to is who owns the device. If somebody ends up building a ROM again, that would be awesome. But 626s is far from a flagship, so I don't imagine too many devs getting their hands on one.

Got the dev edition for vrzn, now what?

Thus far I have:
-Unlocked the bootloader, installed recovery, and Rooted (installed all my fav rooted apps)
-Installed Xposed for gravitybox
-Gotten tethering to work (what a pain that rooting doesnt just solve that problem)
-Deleted bloatware
Am I missing anything others are doing?

agree....don't flash the ROM...the motorola one is very good. You should get rid of the annoying unlock message. What are your favorite rooted apps. I use titanium backup pro....but would appreciate pointers to other good apps.

Stock messaging app definitely isn't there. Why bother removing it?
Edit: Yikes a lot of the UI hacks for xposed are likely going to need updating. 314 breaks the hidden apps slide out menu (not the fault of this rom developer, but I'm sure it could be important for some other users planing to upgrade from 402).

Thanks for the feedback. It was not removed. When I tested the rom, I noticed the missing stock messaging app and reported it to dev. However, when you look into the rom's system\priv-app, the conversation.apk is there so it had us both stumped as to why it is not getting flashed.
Hopefully, we'll get the fix from the dev soon.
Thanks again for reporting.

It seems to work great otherwise. I just rolled back to my backup of .402 because I got used to how my UI was setup using GEM and Xperia Xposed modules. Once they get updated (GEM in particular) I'm sure I'll be back.

I see your point and I myself use these modules. However, different people have different preferences. Therefore, some devs refrain from adding mods like Xposed in the rom as users can add themselves after flashing the rom. I know that @dipesh1502 has plans to provide add ons (themes, sound mods etc.) in Aroma in Themes and Apps section. So, I'm sure he can consider your request.

Yes, you have to flash recovery after every 314 rom flash otherwise you'll end up with no recovery and this is speaking from personal experience lol.

I did this once yesterday too when I was rushing. On the plus side nuts recovery installer still works like a charm in 314, so its not the end of the world if a person forgets.

If the apk is still in the folder, cant you just manually install the App?
BTW, IMHO Xposed should be preinstalled.
Oh, and it would be awesome to link Nut's thread in the op when you say "install recovery" it's a hassle to search the thread on the phone

[ROM] OctamodWear - Stock + root + busybox + Reboot2Recovery

CAUTION!! This ROM is mostly made for developers and people interested in developing for Samsung Gear Live. I take no responsabilities for possible damages to your device.
Hi everyone.
I open a new thread here in General because I have not enough posts for posting in Development, and I don't want to spam other threads only for posting there. Moderators can move this if they want.
We have here the first Custom ROM for Samsung Gear Live: OctamodWear
Currently we have very few new features, but this is only the beginning.
Features
- OctamodWear 0.2
- KMV78Y based
- Fully deodexed
- Root
- Busybox
- WearControl, the system management app. Reboot2Recovery is gone; install WearControl from PlayStore to ensure you always have the latest version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=octathorp.wearcontrol
- ES File Explorer and Quick System Info preinstalled
- OctamodWear 0.1
- KMV78X based
- Root
- Busybox
- Reboot2Recovery, it's an app made by me that let you reboot in recovery mode (interesting for use with custom recoveries).
- ES File Explorer and Quick System Info preinstalled (mainly, for developing purposes. I included them because it was a pain to install again with each data-wipe during tests).
Important
- Superuser permissions (root) are enabled by default, without Superuser or similar app. So, whatever app that you install and require root permissions will obtain them. That's due to the fact that there is no Superuser app for Android Wear yet.
- We need unlocked bootloader in order to be able to install the ROM (fastboot oem unlock).
- This system (Android Wear) is still very recent, and there are many things we don't know, despite its similarities with Android.
Work-in-progress...
- Get a better battery consumption.
- Improve performance
- Other things I have not thought about yet
Installation
If you don't have unlocked bootloader, follow this steps:
- Connect using ADB and run "adb reboot bootloader"
- In the bootloader screen, run "fastboot oem unlock". Warning!! This will wipe the device.
- Once you have unlocked the bootloader, the next step is to flash the provided system.img, using "fastboot flash system system_octamodWear.img"
- Done!

I will try to help you if you need it, but please, there are a lot of pages on the web where you can get information about ADB drivers or bootloader unlocking effects, so please, use Google.
Furthermore, I don't have much free time due to work and personal life, so this ROM will not have a very fast development. My main purpose is to give people something they can start working with, and make a great development community.
Enjoy it!

It is pre rooted as stated above. And yes its very good. Includes a file manager, which is handy....
Dev, presumably we should not install any OTA's?
This is the best day EVER!! Thank you so very much!!
Hey @octathorp I just received an update a couple days ago and did it... I assume the update would not be compatible with this ROM, or can I still install this ROM? Thanks!
Update is KMV78Y by the way.
Hi.
I have not received the update yet, so i don't really know. It should work well, because this is only system.img, but i'm gonna update the base rom as soon as I receive the update.
One thing i forgot to post some days ago... I've made an app that lets you reboot your device into recovery or bootloader, as well as changing CPU governors. It's Reboot2Recovery replacement, and it will be included in next release. Meanwhile, you can get the app from Play Store, searching "WearControl" (sorry i cannot post links yet).
I'll update the OP.

Return to Stock?
What would be the best way to return to stock? My guess would be to flash the system img that Adam Outler posted but want to make sure that I'm correct. I got excited and flashed this without backing up on TWRP first.
Hey is it possible to put the ROM in flashable form for TWRP?! Would make it much easier to install

Awesome man! I know you said in OP that you are very busy and stuff, would be appreciated though if you got the flashable working, then I can flash stuff on the watch like I do on my phone, so easy.... instead of having to go thru ADB!

Battery life should be the same as stock, as there are no power optimizations yet, but you could try WearControl with powersave mode instead.

1. Those sot-freaks who want the rom as light as possible
2.Those who want the most no-compromise rom ever --and for them this addon zip im cooking up is for.

Ah cool, well im one that choose for light as possible, but with a few personal mods like
1. adaway, verry importand to block adds
2. viper4android or a replacer like a.r.i.s.e, bcuz i like to get more out of my headphone
3. 3minit, it's nice to have a organized taskbar
4. keybaord symbols when long press a key, fot the lazyness and easyness of typing, i noticed it wasn't in the n5 rom
5. Google play services, some apps require it, a personal alarm clock like "wake me up asuna" , i beleve it use text to speech or it won't understand spoken commands
Thats all i need sofar
Even touchwiz i don't care for since i use nova launcher, it's faster and have a key
Ofc some can be installed separately, but i don't like to play with system files to get viper to work and end up breaking it like i did with my dads lg g3
Anyway i test it in a few hours , dl is slow and its 00:00 so yeah

Before I flashed the zip I made a factory reset (system wipe. Data wipe. Cache wipe)...and antutu crashed a couple of times... Anyway the antutu score doesn't matter so much..
