Once I got my T-Mobile Note 2, I searched the interwebs for a case that would protect the phone and make it less slippery. The quest was not an easy one, with barely any cases available, and most being replicas with different names. Additionally, none of the ones I saw offered protection around the corners, something that I find 100% essential on a case.
So after several hours on the general Galaxy Note II Accessories forum and several pages down the Amazon hole through multiple search keywords, I found the perfect case, for the time being. The case is a basic TPU S-line hybrid with an added kickstand. Nothing new or revolutionary, I'm sure, but given the lack of choices as of yet, a good one nonetheless.
The case protects, as commented, all 4 corners, and it protrudes enough that it lets you place the phone face down without suffering any damage on the screen. The kickstand works, though this is also the biggest caveat I've found.
The kickstand is on a hinge, and, to keep the case as thin as possible, the kickstand is embedded into the case. This wouldn't be such a problem, this happens on the Seidio Active, for example. However, the case is so thin that the hinges protrude too much out of the case, causing this to be the main point of contact with the surface when you place the phone on its back. It's irritating because one would hope a case would make the phone less slippery when placed on a surface than the original plastic, but hanging from two small pieces of plastic is not much better. There's always the placing the phone on its kickstand position, and that's fine, but don't think about pushing the phone hard on this position, or you'll cause the hinge to let you shift the phone to the "second" position, and, if pushed further, down to the ground.
The kickstand hasn't broken yet, but leaves uncertainty on how long it'll last. The black part of the case is grippy, specially on its sides, with the semi-see-through material being more slippery (though this is not an inconvenience, really).
All ports are well protected, but not covered, so no worries about echo issues like in other cases.
The kickstand is perfect for watching movies on the beautiful 5.5 inch screen.
The durability of the case is debatable. While I'm sure it'll withstand some falls, its purpose is more of a "now it'll not slip off my hands every time I pull it out of my pocket" than "let's toss this sucker from a 20 ft window"
This case more than serves its purpose, and at $5.98 including S&H (shipping from MN, USA), it should be in everyone's short list of capable though cheap cases.
If your phone is naked awaiting a case that fits your immediate needs, this will suffice. If you're looking for something that protects better, is more elegant, and of a known brand, the Seidio Active with Metal Kickstand is my #1 choice. But meanwhile, until it is released, I'd rather have this $6 case than go "naked".
I'm waiting for Amazon to accept all my images that I uploaded so I can provide you with images.
In the meantime, you can check out my Amazon Review here.
>>> It comes on either Black, Blue, Pink, Purple, White. I think I've also seen red, and I'm sure you can also find it on eBay.
>>> Black one seems to be "Unavailable".
Did it come with that screen protector you have installed?
I ordered one from china might get it next year LOL and also ordered another for a note 1, hopefully is as good as this one, I've had the S-line case on my S3 and even tho it was cheap i loved it.. you keep the slimness of the phone witch is important having a 5.5inch screen on the pant pockets isn't fun, imagine adding 1cm of case might aswell get the iDevice-mini.
thanks for the pics now i know what I got into...

Yeah I tried to do it so that the selling company was located in the US, just so it wouldn't take so long to arrive because I was holding the phone naked and it was slippery as hell.
The screen protector is a SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Screen Protector Clear Steinheil [Ultra Oleophobic] [2-PACK]
Personally, I don't think the protector is the best, but I feel more comfortable about using my phone now. The safer the better. I got a scratch on my S2 with Gorilla Glass, because I figured "oh Gorilla Glass...don't need a protector". I tried to put protector when I first got it, but failed on 3 accounts. It just didn't look good. Wore it for a while till it looked even worse and I just simply removed it. And of course... Sh*t happens.
So this time, I ordered protector same time as case. Except it is fulfilled by Amazon so it took 2 days free shipping. I think the price is high, AND I have 2-3 bubbles that don't go away. Really, they aren't bubbles. They're specks of dust, and the surrounding area does not stick to the screen. I've thought about using the second protector but...uh I don't know.
"But it's Gorilla Glass 2, you don't need protector!" Not gonna fall twice for that. "But it's gonna interfere with the S Pen!" You know what, I think from time to time it does interfere. I've noticed sometimes while drawing that I might lift the pen but it still draws on the screen. Not sure if that's due to the screen protector or not...
Anyway, best of luck. Protect your phone with the first thing you find in the meantime until you get your case!
i see there's a minor bump on the kickstand that prevents the phone from laying perfectly flat on it's back. Is there' a slight wobble to it if you lay it flat and touch one side?
I just got this case in today and Im happy with what I got for the money.

well....
Since I got the Note 2 from t mobile on the day of launch, the store was not carrying any cases so I went ahead and ordered a cheap plastic case from ebay and ran to the sprint store where they had ONE SAMSUNG OEM FLIP CASE and purchased as well. As everybody knows, this samsung OEM case DOES NOT PROVIDE SIDE/CORNER protectio and since I HAVE NO GRIP hands, I had to have every kind of protection available so I integrated both covers. Here are some sample pics. I will keep this on until I get my SPIGEN case!!!!
p.s. I know it looks kind of ghetto but at least I am protected!!!

yeah I tried that with my GS3 it was too ghetto for me lol
Is this TPU case thick? I prefer thick rubber case to protect it more but might consider this since it has a kickstand

It really is thin. This may not be the best for you, but I'd say just because of the kickstand, it may hold you over until you find a better one. Personally looking forward to Trident Aegis and Seidio Active. There's also Otterbox...
I got the same but the phone won't fit well. If I manage to fit the top, the bottom won't. If I do the opposite the top won't. Did yours had this problem?

Sorry, can't help you there. I really had no problem whatsoever putting this one in. I've taken it out about a dozen times, and I've never had issues taking it out or putting it back in. I ordered the Seidio Active case, so this one will be retired soon. But while using it, my only complaint was that the stand was not reliable. That's about it.
You might want to contact the seller and get a replacement. Looks like there's something wrong with yours. Also, make sure that all ports/buttons line up, and that they didn't send you the case for the wrong phone or some such.
Good luck!
This case is "unavailable" on Amazon but there are a million of them on Ebay, in all different colors. I got one in clear because I like to show off my phone, not the case, although I know from my old iPod case that I actually like the look of a clear glass-like edge around the sides.
I just wanted to chime in that if you get the clear version, beware that it *will* stick to the back cover of the phone. It's ugly because you get these big blobs and patches, and I found it immediately unacceptable. The case only cost me $5 so I just tried sanding it down on the inside so it wouldn't stick... which technically worked, but now it's even uglier. Yeah, I ruined it, but I couldn't see using it the way it was before. I was also concerned that over time, it'd stick so hard that I wouldn't be able to get it off. Already, whenever I'd take it off, I'd hear a "crack" as it unstuck from the back cover. I'm actually still using it after the sanding and it works just fine and doesn't stick anymore, but it is ugly.
My advice is to get a solid color version of this case if you get one, and still sand the inside of it so it doesn't stick. (Though make sure it's really opaque if you sand it; if it's clear at all, you'll see sanding marks.)
I really like kickstand cases but I'm thinking now of just getting something that gives me a little better grip on the phone (like a textured back cover) and then either not getting a case at all, or getting another one of these and hoping it doesn't stick to a more matte back cover.

No, I don't have one sorry.
I just spotted it on ebay last night and thought I would post it here as an alternative for people to consider when I saw the thread earlier
I do have it in my watchlist and may purchase later, but at the moment I'm using a FlyGrip and a plain matt tpu case
The kickstand looks a bit more flush on that one. Does not seem like there is much texture in the TPU for grip though. I will let someone else be the guinea pig, but I am curious to hear about it.

Me too, I'm very curious about this case...

They have that one in clear now too.
It looks frosted so it probably just has a matte texture that makes it easier to grip.
I found another clear TPU case similar to the first kickstand one but minus the stand and with all 5-star reviews on Amazon... found the same case on Ebay for cheaper (under 5 bucks) so I'm trying that next. If that one still creates unsightly stickiness, I'll just go for a clear hard plastic case. I've used one of those on my iPod for literally 5 years and they are surprisingly effective and look perfect.
LOL. I ordered the clear one to try out. I am so weak and have no will power.

Well, I know that not that many people are probably going to be buying an original Note anymore (especially the T-Mobile version, even though I just got mine a few days ago). But I just wanted to give a heads up on a case that I bought which I really like. Since there's no accessories section in this forum, I'm just gonna post it here. I don't have pics, sorry.
It's the Yoobao Executive Leather Folio (link below). I was looking for a case that wasn't one of those dinky rubber/tpu things. I bought my Note on Craigslist and it actually came with one of those. I took it off immediately. I wanted something like the Samsung Flip Cover, but those didn't look like they gave much protection to the phone, especially for the sides and corners. I can't remember exactly how I found the Yoobao case (probably used my good friend Google), but when I saw that you actually slid the phone into the case, I thought I would give it a try.
The shipping on this was amazing. I ordered it on Saturday night around 10:30pm, got it on Monday morning. Anyway, I slid the phone in and I love it. The leather feels and smells nice. It is as thin as they say it is on their site. All of the major cutouts (usb, power, sound, headphone, S-pen) are perfectly placed. The only one that are a little off are the top front call speaker and front camera, and the flash. They're not way off, but they could have been measured a bit better.
The case has a magnetic closure for the flip, which works well. It's not the strongest, but it doesn't flap open. Plus that helps for when I want to open the flip with one hand. The thing I like most about the case is the fact that it really does protect the phone completely. Many of us have learned that dropping a phone on a corner is the way to get the most damage. The corners and sides of this case are where the leather is stitched together, so it give those areas extra protection. If I drop it on the corner, it just hits stiff leather. Kinda like a shock absorber.
One thing I was unsure about, because I couldn't tell from the pics/video on their site, was if the case had one of those plastic screen protectors built in. I hate those. They always get dirt underneath and you're constantly taking the phone out to clean the plastic off. Well, this one does not have one of those. It's just the leather case with a cutout where the screen goes. It came with a separate screen protector, which I haven't tried, so I don't know if it fits or not. But it's nice that they threw that in.
So finally, I am very happy with my new case. My only regret is that I was debating between the red and the black and I got the black. Now I think I should have gotten the red.
If anything changes (like if the stitching starts to come apart), I will provide an update to this review.

Thanks for the heads up!
I know there are probably already plenty of these, but I thought I would share my views, and hopefully help someone! I have had this case several months, so this is not a first impression For the lazy ones, skip to the bottom for a summary. :silly:
Many of you have probably seen this case on amazon or this forum. It is a PU leather with a landscape stand, sold under many different brand names on amazon.
Instead of the case coming around the bezel of the device, or using a breakage-prone plastic clip on case as some others do, this case has 6 or 7 clips (depending on the version) to hold the Nexus in. There is one on each corner, and another on the top and bottom. 2 of the corners unclip and the device flips out in landscape mode to make a stand (no portrait stand, but this is common to most cases unfortunately). Some variations also have a hand strap.
Now, the big question on everyone's minds. Quality. I have found this case to be very good, as have others who have tried them. Unlike some other cases such as the Nillkin smart cover, there are no plastic parts to crack, or joins/edges covered in that waxy plastic coating, that seems to be prone to cracking and peeling. All the edges are sewn, so no issues there.
Another worry I have seen come up on the forum is the metal or plastic clasp that clips over the edge of the device for closure. Some worry this could scratch or damage their Nexus. Don't. I have been using this case for around 3 months now, and my 7 still looks as good as the day I got it (well, apart from the filthy screen ) In fact, I prefer this to a magnetic strap, as it is far more secure!
Although this is a great case, it still has its issues. At first, the clasp is quite tight, and hard to close, but over time this loosens as the case stretches slightly. This happening is great, apart from the fact that on mine, it no longer held the smart cover magnet close enough to the screen, so the smart cover only works intermittently. I understand mine may be from an old batch, and this has been fixed with a stronger magnet.
For all of you in the USA, this case is easily available on Amazon, but for me in Australia, it is not so easy to find. There is a variant by Caseen called the Soft snap, but this is 3x the price of the Chinese amazon version. For anyone outside of the US, I could not find it on eBay, but eventually found one on a Hong Kong wholesale site, Aliexpress. I will post a link once I am allowed to.
So, for all the lazy ones who skipped to the bottom, to sum up:
Pros:
Slim, adds very little bulk
Clever stand design, does not add thickness
Cheap
Secure clasp
Cons:
Hard to get outside of Amazon USA
Clasp too tight at first
Some have issues with smart cover
Yeah, there are quite a few threads for this that you could have posted into, but this case IMO deserves attention. A few people at work have asked me about mine and have gotten one (although one apparently wasn't paying attention and got a similar case and he doesn't like it.. he's getting the moko now )
Besides fit, form, and function which are all great on this case, I expected the strap to stretch out and the pleather to scuff up, fray on the edges, rip, etc and look shabby like almost all PU does. Nope. This is good stuff, whatever crazy chemicals it's made out of. The case looks the same today as it did when I bought it a few weeks after the N7 was available, straps are still tight even though I use the hand strap quite a bit, snap is still good (and as you said; no damage anywhere) etc.
Thanks for the feedback! I will try to find others next time to keep clutter down.
Hi XDA! I am looking for my PERFECT case/smartcover for the Nexus 7.
So the official Nexus 10 has a smart cover that is incorporated into the "rubber feet" on the back. Today, while walking through a mall, I saw these Blackberry Z10 smartcovers that are incorporated into the battery door.
Do you know of a case that is similar for the N7?
this is what the Blackberry Z10 battery door/smartcover look like http://bit.ly/10KGnO9
tried looking around, I haven't yet found anything so I gave up. Now my N7 has no case but I might just sell it an get an N10 anyways
The back has never needed any protection so these folio cases are pointless....it's the front that always has, and a bumper of sorts with the smartcover built in would be ideal
Exactly. The N7 is pretty bulky as is, dont need an extra layer in the back.

I have a moko cover that's pretty sweet. Its a portfolio case that let's you stand it in landscape to use with a Bluetooth keyboard or just to watch videos.
I tried posting a link but since I'm a new users, the forum won't allow me to. Just go to amazon and search for "moko slim-fit case" $15.99
Similar to the Blurex cases.
I've tried lots of cases. I DID like the Blurex/Moko style. However it did add a considerable amount of thickness. I also tried the Poetic case, which is a slim hard back plastic case with a smart case attached. It worked pretty well and latches shut at the end to keep closed. The Poetic case is the best case I've found for a smart cover type protection.
I eventually settled on a hardback book case. It is stylish and gives it a little more protection. The lid stays closed with a strap but some include wood shells with magnets. I opted for the cheapest solution and find it very good. In fact it has held up very well. The tablet is held in by sticky tape. I've owned mine for months and never had it fall out or need to be cleaned/restuck.
http://shop.portenzo.com/hardback-for-nexus-7/
Plenty of color combinations. I have a Red exterior, white inner liner, and a black strap. Nice and clean.
So iPAD mini like smart covers isn't available for the N7 ? I too just need a lightweight smart cover only to protect the screen and not the back and was wondering if something like poetic slimline exists?
The Poetic Slimline does exist, as my previous posts states, for the Nexus 7:
http://bit.ly/192m6YK
The iPad Smart Covers uses many magnets around the edge of the screen to keep the flappy flap tight against the surface. Others just use one side of magnets at the edge of the closing point.
Very good price too. I purchased mine for $20, but it is showing $9.95 at Amazon right now.
The Poetic was nice and I liked it but out of the 4-5 months I owned it, I had to replace it 3 times because the material would break at the seams. Poetic has a 3yr warranty and replaced it hassle free by just emailing them my Amazon order number. Because they are so cheap, they don't even bother wanting the old one returned... so while they were falling apart, other N7 owners didn't mind a free slightly worn case.
Here is a video of them:

Yea. In doing the research and finding that video, I noticed the different colors. When they first came out they only had black. I'd almost wouldn't mind picking up a baby blue or red one.
I noticed colors are a little more expensive.

After so much of research with matching my requirements, I just couldnt find an alternative to Poetic Slimline case. Looks like it isnt available in my country (India) which is not cheap option.
Any idea if there's any similar chinese ones or replica? Have seen few smart covers from China on Ebay but they have the problem of turning off the screen when cover is flipped around.

I've heard good things about the Nillkin smart-wake cases. While the case covers both the front and back, the folding section does not, which makes it a bit slimmer (Hard to explain, take a look at the link for a picture). Apparently these cases don't suffer from the waking issue when folded backwards, either.
Here's a review I found: http://www.androidcentral.com/nillkin-leather-flip-cover-nexus-7
Dad recently bought a Nexus 7 and we ordered this case, though we haven't received it yet so can't offer any first-hand impressions.

Heard about Nillkin so let me see
EDIT:
Doesn't protect the screen as cover doesn't have magnets on edges(magnetic closure) like poetic one to close it 100%
EDIT2:
Ordered Poetic Slimline
I think there are real big problems related to the lack of good accessories for S7 edge.
Facts:
- The best OEM protective cover (at least in my opinion) – the Leather Cover is nowhere to be found, only in pictures; there are several weeks of estimated delay for this product all over the world!
- The slim Clear Cover (transparent back cover) is mediocre designed, you should test them carefully before buying! Margins are awfully finished (very rough), the case comes already with scrathes on the transparent inner part (just like the case of S6 edge) and the lateral support (added also for lateral protection, a new redesign vs the one for S6 Edge/ Edge+) is very shaky, making the use of this case an absolute awful experience! At this price and with such high expectations, this is outrageos
- For the non-OEM cases: many have really big problems of proper compatibility and there must be 2 alternative reasons for this:
Samsung has made a “last minute” redesign (eg: on top, a possible switch between the extra microphone hole vs the sim tray position)
Samsung has rushed things too much and the non-OEM suppliers for accessories have failed this rythm... Even SPIGEN has big problems, there are many clear rumors that they have recalled all their accessories for the S7 Edge delivered to the market (you can start by checking amazon USA – there is no Spigen product for S7 edge!). The biggest problem: the clasic Neo Hybrid case, where the lateral polycarbonate frame was way too loose... Also the Rugged Armor, way too loose.... you should check reviews and facts including here on the forum!
- I must add that it-s a huge dissapointment regarding the non-existence of the Glossy Cover that was available for S6 Edge+, what a pity! And that design was clearly much much better and what a beautiful slim-line!
What do you think? What have you experienced?
I agree with your points on the Samsung cases. I think they could have been better. I have the Clear View and whilst it's an adequate case, it feels very loose. The front flap doesn't magnetically lock in place which I thought it really should. It's UI feature hasn't been implemented well.
I disagree with the Spigen comments. I have two Spigen cases and have had no issues with misalignment or them being too loose. In fact quite the opposite. I have two Spigen cases and one more on order. The two that I have in hand are:
Slim Armor Air
Neo Hybrid Crystal - Gunmetal
Both are seriously tight fits. The latter being tighter then the former. Whether the issues you mention are limited to a particular market, I don't know. But certainly Amazon UK still have all S7E products from Spigen.
I've also got the Spigen Thin Fit on order from Amazon.

The OP isn't wrong about Spigen's cases having fitment issues; take a look at my case OP if you want to see pictures of what he's referring to. On the other hand I disagree with why they're out of stock everywhere. This is speculation: Spigen likely had to revise one thing or another hence why they had a sale to clear inventory. Spigen's done this before, so it would not be surprising to see it happen again. I've seen then revise cases randomly, and then not tell anyone that they changed the case design. Spigen had never recalled a case, but I think it's certainly plausible they're revising the line up. I know my screen protectors from them had issues, and the new ones won't ship until the end of the month (maybe the cases will too). Only time can tell at this point, so there's no reason to really speculate further.
Ordered 2 spigen ultra hybrid's on amazon - 1 was loose on the sides not gripping phone and the other is slowly becoming loose.
Ordered 2 spigen neo hybrid cases on ebay. Silver has the loose PC frame the gold seems OK for now.
I will be contacting Spigen to see about replacements or if there are known fitment issues and if they are working on fixing them. I've had mostly spigen cases in the past with 0 issues. Hopefully this gets fixed.

I'm definitely bummed that you can't get the Samsung leather case they show off on their websites so prominently. I love leather and always thought the Apple leather cases for iPhones felt good and had a nice minimalist look to them, so I was exciting to see Samsung rip that idea off. But since they weren't available at launch, I already have a case now and will question the worth of me buying another one if and when they come out.
I had the clear view cover and returned it mostly because of the fact it disables always on display. Instead i bought the keyboard case from samsung. So far i am happy with it. I always had problems while typing on the touchscreen and with the keyboard its really cool to type. Response on buttonpress could be better specially at the edges (my 'p' gives really bad resonse) and sometimes it acts crazy and the software keyboard or google voice thing is popping up. Also always on display does not work while keyboard is attached at front, but thats ok. The feeling of the case is really nice. A soft rubbered but not to rubby finish. I like it

I love leather and always thought the Apple leather cases for iPhones felt good and had a nice minimalist look to them, so I was exciting to see Samsung rip that idea off. But since they weren't available at launch, I already have a case now and will question the worth of me buying another one if and when they come out.

Just the leather one? Not the LED leather one? It's weird because in the UK on the 8th when the S7E was released in the Carphone Warehouse I went in to they had just the Leather case by Samsung not the LED one. Now though, I see the LED leather case everywhere online etc. but rarely see the just leather one anywhere now!

I like it

Y'know that's weird. Sometimes 'P' on my touchscreen keyboard can give a bad response. Wonder if this is a common software issue...
I'm a big fan of the Clear Cover. No problems whatsoever and love the corners.
I've had my Spigen Ultra Hybrid crystal clear (ordered from Amazon) on my S7 Edge since March 5th (when the case arrived) and it was a perfect fit. Yesterday I took the case off (my first time removing it) to install my Skinomi screen protector. I put my Spigen case back on this morning and the case went on with the same feel as when I first got it.
All of the official cases are a failure, Samsung's and Apple's equally. I was looking forward to the release of the ARA phone but Google backed down. They released the Pixel which is just an improvement of the other competitor designs. There's nothing new and I am really disappointed in the whole industry. And now the poor excuse of an "official case" for their products. There are so many possibilities for making great cases for the phones. It is like the best car brand starts producing official ****ty tires for their cars. No offense they can invest and make great tires but they don't give a f**k.
On the other hand, I admire small companies that struggle to make great products like I-blades, Nexpaq and partially Otterbox that can continue and improve the modularity paradigm. Google realized that modular phone is a dead end. But they could join projects and release at least modular case for the Pixel.
