Thinnest case - Nexus 5X Accessories

What is the thinnest case out? I don't necessarily like cases...just want something as thin as possible for scratch protection.

Rinkge Slim is probably the thinnest. It fits VERY well and is about as minimal as it gets. I really like it.
However, I switched to a TPU case because I can be a bit clumsy and needed more protection from drops on pavement.

If you just want scratch protection then a skin is the way to go.

I have this one and have had it on past phones and I felt it made the 5x quite a bit bigger for a "thin" case. Maybe because its designed to fit flush with the camera and since the camera protrudes out, it the case does too.

I have a dbrand on the way.

There is a thread here about the LG hardshell. I think it's about as thin as it can get, similar to the sand paper like hard cases

I've heard a lot about this one... Also the Nillkin Nature case keeps coming up, too, and lists itself as .66mm thick. That's a pretty slim case, and would be far thinner than my Cimo tpu case. I'm probably going to order both the Nillkin and Lg Hardshell and see which one is best. I like that the Nillkin comes in clear and smoked options, too, instead of just solid colors. Haven't been able to confirm that option on the LG case since it doesn't appear for sale in the US just yet.

Based on this guy's caliper and Amazon.com, the Nillkin should be quite a bit thinner than the LG case...

Nillkin nature tpu case. Also has the best feeling buttons I ever had with a silicone case. Ports on bottom have protection . also nice

IMO the Ringke and Spigen "slim" cases look like Otterboxes in comparison to the LG Snap On, that one is basically like a hard skin. The quicksand cases are similar to those in thickness.

How thin is the Nilkin? I don't see it advertised. The LG Snap On is advertised at 0.75mm but we don't know at which point of the case they measured.
The Nilkin is a gel case, or "condom" case as I like to call them. They are thin but that's about all they have going for them.

The nillkin is advertised at. 0.6mm. Not much for rugged protection, I suppose, but should be nice for some coverage without added bulk. Mine just shipped (from somewhere in east Asia) and should be here in about 2 weeks. Will keep y'all posted.

The Lg case has a s light inward curve to it so it's hard to get measurements. After trying multiple angles the thinnest I got was .80, that's coming straight up from the bottom.

Diztronic hands down

Just got the Nillkin. Definitely the thinnest TPU case I've ever owned. Also the buttons still retain most of their clicky feedback. This has happily replaced the Orzly as my main case.

I've got my Nillkin Nture TPU case. It's awesome! I don't have pics yet, but will try getting some for y'all when possible. In short, it's amazingly thin for TPU, adding minimal bulk. This is far superior and much thinner than my Cimo TPU case. It's not going to offer much drop protection, but I'm not too concerned about that. Plus it'll certainly prevent scratches. It also has a slight raised edge at the bezel so you can set the phone screen-down on a flat surface and the screen won't touch, but the added bonus here is that since its such a thin case, the offset is minimal which makes it MUCH easier to swipe left-to-right (for example to open an app menu or Google Now) than thicker TPU caes (which can often make it hard to touch the edge of the screen.
Anyway, I'm really happy about this case. It does had small flaps that cover and plug the charging alot and headphone jack, which I waver between liking and disliking. However, those could easily be cut off if wanted. Anyway, easily the best $10 I've ever spent on a case.

Hey I see the listing color options are white, gray, or gold. What color did you get? I'm wondering if by "white" do they actually mean clear?

Yup, the white is actually clear. That's the one I bought.

My Nillkin is on its way from China. I'm excited to get it. I'm using the Ringke Fusion right now and I think the profile is slim along the edges but the extra thickness is killing me.
With the Nillkin should I look into getting a screen protector for the camera lens or does the case lip around the camera keep it from touching the surface?

Case War! Poetic Palette vs Diztronic?

I have the Sprint version of the LG G2.
Currently I am using a cheap generic case which I bought to just have one on the release date.
Now I want to get a better case like the Poetic Palette or the Diztronic.
Both cases seem great, but I haven't found any reviews comparing the cases.
Poetic Palette VS. Diztronic Matte TPU
Looking for:
Lip over the screen.
Little bulk as possible.
Non-slippery material.
Playing nicely with a screen protector.
Proper cutouts for all ports.
Some protection.
Staying attached to the phone.
etc!
Does anyone have any opinions on which case is superior to the other? and why?
Thank you.
i know this wasn't in your battle, but the Incipio Brig is an AWESOME TPU case. i can't say that enough. Of course, if you want something flat black, it's not right for you (it has a checkerboard pattern, which i actually think looks GREAT). But it is a high quality, STURDY TPU case.
But in response to your original battle, i prefer cases that cover the entire phone (like the brig and diztronic). The pallette is open on the top and bottom. not saying that's bad protection (it could be... not sure), it's just personal preference.
The Poetic doesn't provide any top, bottom or glass protection. The Diztronic(or any case with bezel lips) doesn't play too nicely with a full cut screen protector on this phone since the glass is bezelless. I've got a Diztronic and a Zagg HD screen protector that is cut to be "case-friendly", I couldn't be happier with my Diztronic.
What I have noticed is that all the cases for this phone don't play super nice with headphone cords, really cheap or bigger cords generally don't work that great. Other than that which is far more of an issue with the profile of the device, the Diztronic is flawless.

Wow, I have not seen any of the Incipio cases yet.
The Brig looks interesting, but the DualPro looks like another option.
I should have put a price range in the OP, the 2 I was looking at are about $10-$11.

Thank you both for pointing out the lack of protection on the top and bottom, I didn't notice that.
The poetic case doesn't seem to offer anything other than a $10 piece of plastic that makes the phone thicker.
I might just go for the DualPro one for $7 or $8 more but still pick up a Diztronic for a backup.
Thank you both for saving me from making the mistake of purchasing the poetic.
I voted for Poetic.
Just received the new Poetic (VZW), so now I have both to compare.
I just need something to cover up the slippery back (fingerprint magnet & accident-prone) and provide some
protection against scratches. Both are nice for $9. The poetic doesn't have protection on top & bottom, but
I think that makes it looks better ---> I voted for it.
I'm waiting for the Spigen Amour VZW to come out.
My own naked (10-day old) G2 glided off the table (damn slippery back) and dropped 3 feet onto the tile floor (face up)... lucky me, not a single scratch. I feel a little better now with the case on.

Have been using a Poetic for a month, couldn't be happier. Great finish, clean lines, tight fit. I'm careful with my phones so the top/bottom protection wasn't as big a concern as the feel of the phone, the fingerprints on back, and being able to set down on back without worrying about lens. The Poetic answered all those needs.
I voted for the Diztronic even though I prefer the look of the Poetic more because it offers more protection.

Great to hear that it's a good case, just ordered it myself.
However, I am concerned about cutting the protector. I guess I will go with normal size first, since it comes with 3 protectors, I will give it a try first. How far did you have to cut the protector? Do you have any pictures? I ordered the Pure Crystal Obliq protector.

Did you also check out D3O cases? T-Mobile now is the exclusive seller I believe, I don't know if you have AT&T or VZ, but I assume T-Mo cases should be compatible with AT&T except you may want to check to make sure there is 3rd mic hole on the back for AT&T.
There are two of them:

http://www.t-mobile.com/accessories/lg-g2-d3o-impact-shell-smoke.html
I am sure you are familiar with D3O? It's a gel that hardens upon impact.
The only thing bothered me was that visible orange strip. Why couldn't they make it all black...

Protective Cases with small Form

What would be the best armor/protective case for the G2 with a small size?
Not as big as an Otterbox Defender, nothing bulky...
But not as thing as a thin TPU case...
Looking at the SPIGEN Slim Armor right now, seems appealing but also kind of thin.
I love my slimArmor, It is a bit thin on the face side but that's where I have the iLoome Flex glass protector on. Hopefully in a drop the iLoome cracks and my screen stays in one piece.
If you want less than the defender then try the otterbox commuter. I have it for mine and I don't regret it at all, very reasonable thickness with a nice lip on the front for a case this protective, plus none of the button problems that seem to plague the defender series

It's a very thin case, with almost zero rim. Thinner than the Slim Armor, if the photos of the latter are correct. Like 1mm of rim, which is barely that tall. The only cases with less rim that I've seen are the official QuickWindow case and maybe the Feather.

I bought it for my wife's Verizon G2, the pink one. It is a very good case, a good mix of protection and being slim. The plastic back has a matte finish a has a slight grip to it.So nice in fact, I just bought the white one for my newly purchased G2. :good:
My Verizon LG G2 came with a white/grey Incipio DualPro case. My initial feeling toward it is that the silicone is too flexible and pulls too easily away from the top and bottom front faces of the phone. While putting the outer shell on the phone, it felt like the case just wouldn't be stiff enough, but now that it's on the shell isn't so bad. The case has decent grip, but the white color of the outer shell picks up color from your pocket (or whatever else it rubs up against for a bit). I really like how the rear buttons are covered up, yet actually easier to use because of the more pronounced power button bulge.
On my previous phone (a Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII) I regularly used a pebble blue TPU case from Belkin, but also had a blue Otterbox Commuter for when I'd go camping and hiking. I quite liked the Commuter and will compare the Incipio DualPro against it.
I've been using a Diztronic matte black TPU case for the last week (my first full week with the device). Now I've switched over to the Incipio to check it out. I'll give it as long as I can stand it and will post back here.
Anyone checkout or have experience with the trident cyclops case for the g2? I used it on my moto x, for the protection it offered, really didn't have much bulk, was thinner then the commuter. Found a good deal on a g2 cyclops thinking on checking it out.

24 Hour update: I've spent 24 hours with the Incipio DualPro case on my Verizon LG G2. It is definitely growing on me. While the slightly rubberized hard shell feels slightly slippery to the touch, it is grippy on most surfaces when set down. The case seems to offer protection on par with an Otterbox while feeling better. There's very little added bulk with this case, considering what it's offering in terms of protection.
The case looks good from the back, but I'm not too keen on the white shell peeking around the front edges of the phone (or with how it picks up colors from rubbing on its surroundings). The grey inner shell looks good enough that it's not distracting. Had I purchased the case separately, I would definitely have gone with the black case. But I don't feel strongly enough to buy the black version as a replacement for the white/grey case I already have.
I'm happy with this case and would recommend it.

Received my black Invictus today and it's going back. I'm not impressed. The biggest thing is the cutout at the top left corner the pics on Amazon don't show it but it's there and annoying. The plastic is glossy and looks to scratch easily. The kickstand is just a flap cut out of the back of the case and doesn't snap into place very well. I was expecting a somewhat more premium case. Obviously not high end but better than this.

Today I tried switching back to my Diztronic case because I'm tired of the white/Grey color scheme of the Incipio case. I couldn't do it. I've grown used to the way the Incipio case covers the rear buttons and actually makes them easier to use.
But it turns out that I really do feel strongly enough about the color to have ordered a black version of the Incipio. It should get here in a couple of days. Hopefully it feels the same as this white one.

I really like my incipio dualpro. it's really thin but it's survived a couple drops already. my only complaint is the back is kind of slippery and I could see it slipping out of my hand (hasn't happened yet)
Having used the Slimarmor and the Diztronic TPU, I just recently moved over to the Tech 21 D3O case from Tmobile and I'm loving it.
With the slimarmor I felt it being a bit bulky as well as pretty slick at times. With the diztronic, I didnt feel as if there was enough protection if I were to ever drop the phone.
Looking at the videos of drop tests online for the d3o material, I was sold. The fit is snug, the only bulk added is on the edges where the d3o material is. The textured tpu is nice to hold and doesn't feel slippery, plus I feel much more confident in the event if it were to ever drop on the corners/edges of the phone. For the front face drops, hopefully the Glass M protector I have will take the impact.
Very satisfied with the Tech 21 case and would recommend to anyone looking for slim and protective. They have them in the Tmobile stores so you can definitely try it out first before you buy!
I have the Seidio Surface case and holster. I really like the holster but the case doesn't seem like it gives much protection. Anyone familiar with a case that will give more protection but still fit the holster.? I've tried a couple from Ebay that look slim but protective in the pictures but tend to be pretty bulky in hand. A kickstand would be nice but that's not a deal breaker.
Ballistic SG Shell Gel Protective Case
I used to have a Razr i before my LG G2.
The Razr i was tough by its own and still I had a "trident aegis" case for it, I could throw it meters and was always nice.
G2 seems way more fragile, but the trident series for the G2 are really creepy awful. So with a little research I came across this nice piece of plastic protection the "Ballistic SG Shell Gel Protective Case", checked some youtube videos of drop tests and reviews.
I bought it on ebay today, so now I'm waiting to arrive.
Hopefully its as nice as it looks.

[Q] Best Heavy Duty Case for N6

Ok so i got my N6 back in November, and one thing that is clear to me is the fact that is phone is not a caseless phone or even a TPU phone...It is extreme fragile so much so that that I broke mine 4 days after having it naked, and someone broke their with the case that I had ordered off amazon the night I brought my phone...
Even my lifestyle a TPU case is probably not going to cut it for me so I'm looking for a really good Heavy Duty Case (tragic waste of a beautiful phone)
I found these on amazon Supcase and Poetic
The Supcase have pretty good review...none for the poetic...anyone have either one that can give me a bit of insight?
Please and thank you.

I actually have the Ringke Max on now, and its only a single layer protection, also the reason I want a new case is because someone reported breaking their screen with the Ringke on...It's probably would not have broke with if he had a TGSP on (not sure if he did actually, I'm just assume here)
Just wanted a full body case, cause I really don't think Motorola would replace my phone for free again if I broke it again lol
**Edit**
Just saw that the Max is 2 layer...the hard layer is just built onto the soft...interesting design.

yea, and ordinarily I would be happy with just a tpu case, cause I don't like bulk in fact I dont even like cases on an expensive phone that looks great...but considering how I crack my screen with this phone the first time....I'm extremely cautious with this phone right now :crying:
I also have the Cruzerlite (best looking case so far) but it just dont feel safe enough for me. I just use a TPU and TG for the screen maybe that will be enough...

I wouldn't use the Neo Hybrid unless they fixed the extremely tight fit issue. My bumper broke in less than a week on my Spigen because of this and don't forget you can use that case with a skin. I posted pictures way back when this happened in the Spigen OP. The Slim armor is alright I still have mine because it wasn't worth paying for the shipping to return it.

I have almost every case mention in this thread. I've posted pictures already but I will keep this short in sweet. Hands down best protection case is the Supcase, but it's extremely bulky. A much better option is the iblason slim. Provide excellent protection, probably 80% of the supcase, but nowhere near as bulky. I just left that case and now I'm using the S-Case because I wanted something smaller, I have moto care so if I break my phone I will get a new one. My new case will be here next week.... review to follow

I'm thoroughly enjoying my heavy duty supcase with the holster. For the past few years I've used wallet cases on my Galaxy notes. I m happy I went this route.

What's the lightest but still good case for LG G4

I have the I-Blason Clear Halo case on the phone. It looks nice and fits fairly well except for the bottom where it's not as high as the top and the sides. Goes on and off easily, even over the leather back. But it weighs 26 grams. That's a lot of extra weight for this phone. The Diztronic TPU case is 18 grams and they usually make nice cases. Would love to go bareback but I'm not quite that brave. Anyone found anything lighter that still provides some protection?

lol, I just posted about a sale on this one, it was 30 but a new seller has it for 25 including shipping.
It is about 9 grams according to the seller page, but it is bareback. I got the leather though, so that is what I was looking for. Also it looks like it is an officially licensed lg case so it should fit the curve perfect.
Once I get mine in I will do a review. I hope this helps:highfive:
Thanks. I'm looking forward to your review.
What my knowledge and experience say is that the "revolution" case is super rugged, protective and durable it has a *screen protector and is impact shock and water resistant, ( will fit leather backing) its also light in weight and very much secured.
For this situation,a tpu case would a good choice.
I've got the diztronic. While nice and adds good protection I think it's too thick and heavy. Really takes away from the elegance of the G4. I've ordered the Nilkin Nature and heard it is very light and thin. Not much if any drop protection, but added grip and scratch protection

Diztronic is one of my favourites. Been using it on my Nexus 5 for more than a year, dropped it numerous times and nothing ever happened. For the G4 however, I ordered Ringke Slim, which provides only basic protection, as I wanted something slimmer. Haven't received it yet, but if I'm not satisfied with it, I'm gonna go with Diztronic again.

I have the same case as you. I don't mind the weight too much, but I agree that it does add more than i expected. My phone looks like one of those leather couches with the plastic covering it .

Good comparison! Now I can't look at it without thinking about those plastic covered couches.

Don't care for the looks but I like the rest of what you said. I'll check it out.

Maybe so. Can you recommend a good one?
I picked up a basic Insignia™ brand case at Best Boy. Good edge coverage, snug fit and all cases should have something very close to what has been incorporated into this design -
actual textured grip enhancement on the side-edges. I've been *****in about this for years and here it finally is . . . on a low cost case.
The Spigen Exact Fit is my fave. Super thin, protects all sides. Cheap too but quality. It is a hard shell case. I dislike the TPU cases on anything other than tablets.
I had Ringke before but its coated plastic. Eventually the color starts to wear off. I had a metallic gray and it was black underneath.
The spigen is a solid color throughout.
The only thing I dislike is it is slick. I had a Incipio Feather on my G2 and it had a rubber type coating that I prefer. But Incipio isnt making a Feather case so the Spigen Exact Fit is thr best choice IMO.
I've got the Ringke Slim case. If you're looking for a very slim, not in the way case, this is a very good choice. Very tight fit with a slight lip so the screen doesn't touch whatever you put it on when placed face down. I love it since it barely adds any size or weight while still offering some protection. Only downside is it's very, very difficult to take off since it's a tight fit. If you're planning on swapping out batteries often or changing backs, this case may not be the best option.
Easy Removal and Lightweight??
This Ringke looks to be lightweight, and easy to remove. I need both of these abilities with my G4, because I replace the battery at least once a day. Does anyone know of any other cases that are both lightweight and easy to remove (I have the tan leather backed version from T-Mobile)??
The UAG is surprisingly lightweight considering the protection it provides. I love it.

I have verus verge, and though it fits perfect with all cuts and it is rugged and good finish. It does add a heft to device.

Looks very interesting but I wish they would tell us the weight.
Ringke Slim and Spigen Exact Fit are the same style hard cases.
I chose the Spigen because I didn't like the lines in the corner of the Ringke Slim, or the speaker cut out.
The Spigen, IMO, looks better. It also comes in Teal.

LG Hardshell Snap On - Thinnest hard case with no lip

LG made my favorite case for the N5 and it looks like they've made something similar for the 5x as well.
+The official LG Snap On case is hard, thin plastic with no lip and no button coverings. With my N5, it was nearly impossible to tell there was even a case on: it's just that thin.
-The only downside was due to not having a lip, the phone can shift around a tiny bit inside the case as the lip tends to hold the phone in place. It's also a bit expensive ($20-25).
I'll post some links I've found to buy the product here but most of mine are from sites that sell to Canada. Feel free to share any links you've found to buy the case in the US or other countries as well.

Thanks to @Infekxion for bringing this case to my attention.
For a super-thin case I picked up this one (I'd had one of these imak cases for a Razr Maxx a long time ago as well): http://www.ebay.com/itm/11181578731...49&var=410801075038&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
It does have a small front lip, but is also ultra thin, fits tight as a drum, and at $7 delivered is dirt cheap. Nice texture for better grip as well.

Nice find. Looks like one of the "quick sand" type cases. Those are great too (I had one for my N5) though the official LG case was noticeably thinner and with no lip felt like there wasn't even a case on the device.
On the up side the quicksand cases have unparalleled grip, though some people might be thrown off by the rough texture.

Interesting looking case, I think this'll be #3 or 4 i've bought, I tend to accumulate cases until I find one I like. It's certainly cheap enough to be disposable if I don't like it.
Sweet. I remember this case well (in N5 forums) but never got one they were a pita to find for me So I got the ringke slim for the N5 still have it and phone. I've gone caseless on the 5X so far I really like it but my OCD makes me buy cases....
Does it scratch the phone in any way?
I used similar case for my n5 and I remember it scratches corners when I try to put it on/off

I actually never took that case off my N5 since it was easy to forget it had one on lol. I suspect the same will be true for this version. However I could imagine scratches being a possibility since thin hard cases tend to be quite tight and and difficult to remove.
There is a techniques I've seen used to help remove those types of cases safely using a taped credit card.
Any idea where can I get this in the UK? I got the official one from google but it's just too bulky for my liking...
EDIT: Just found it on amazon UK. Here's the link for anyone interested (white version also available!):

Is this case as slippery as the phone? I normally have my phones naked but for the 5x it is slipping out of my fingers when trying to pick it up on the sides specifically and it has slid out of my pocket a few times.

Ive yet to receive mine but if it's the same as with the N5 case, the matte plastic will be almost identical to the 5x plastic.
For something with more grip check out that quicksand case linked earlier in this thread. Or if you don't mind a bulkier case I quite like the Diztonic matte texture I've been using for the last couple weeks. It's your standard case size but very easy to pick up and put down, has a better texture for gripping, and no doubt will protect well in a fall.
This thin hardshell is more just to protect from scratches and minor bumps while not noticeably enlarging the size of the device.
I got my case yesterday and finally have a chance to upload some pics. It's a little bit thicker than the original but I enjoy it just as much. The caliper I used may need slight adjustments and the bottom edges gave me the best reading but you get the idea. I really like how there's no lip on this one either.

Thank you. LG Logo looks removable. Is it?
Yes it is, doesn't look like it'll come out accidentally. It's a nice little accent that goes well with the imprint ring.

It's enough to be removable. I'll consider to buy this one. Maybe the ice one. I don't know.
Has anyone found this in white for sale in the US?

No scratches yet. I have a way of removing the case, same way with the old N5, hold phone with top end pressing into my waist and pry the bottom edges with my thumbnails. Slides off pretty easy. I recommend sitting down while doing it.

is imak thinner than spigen one?
i have spigen case installed. but the spigen's lower left corner has space with phone... too bad....
btw imak is really cheap... only $3 in china, so i am afraid of the protection when phone fall from hands....

None of the thin cases are really designed to protect in a drop. More just for scratches and minor bumps.
They might help a bit but even a thick case is no guarantee to protect the device in a drop.
I've personally tried the Diztronic case which is less than $10. It's made from thicker TPU material with a lip that would offer more drop protection than these thin cases.
"My hand is pretty small - but the phone is very comfortable to hold. :3 ( with and without the fusion case. )
The case made the phone less slippery though. ( which is a good thing - as it is less likely to slip out of my hand, lol. )"
