Mirror Reflection setting for front facing camera - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Anybody know what this setting is supposed to do?
I had hoped/assumed it would flip the image when taking a selfie so that the resulting image isn't the wrong way round, however it doesn't seem to be doing that for me.

Ignore this, I've figured it out! Doh!

Please enlighten me. Cuz I don't understand what it does... ?

How to change camera from portrait to landscape

I wonder if there is a way to change my camera from portrait to landscape. Thats all I need. I believe sombody will answer me soon. THX
Uh, just rotate it 90° clockwise or counterclockwise. That seems to do the trick for me...
It doesnt work with this trick. If yes I wouldnt ask for help ;|
Well I sure dont know of a way to do it.
for my own personal intrest why would you want to do that in the first place?
I have a sony camera and that option is not given to me and it cost me as much as my BA, I can't phone with it (BUT DOES IT EVER TAKE BETTER SHOTS).
I just want to see what I am shooting at entire display. It can be cool, what u think
maybe the guys which are working on coolcamera app will make BA version of it and we will have a solution for your problem, but we will have to wait until then
I did a little joke about the question, because the wording was a bit ambiguous. What he wants is to make the image preview show up in fullscreen, in landscape mode. It might be possible with a different camera software, but I think the one used in our roms do not support it. Personally, I am fine with our camera, for me it would be weird to see the picture rotated 90° when taking shots. What I would like to see is a more finger-friendly touch interface for the camera...

Anyone noticed the Kaiser's front camera bug ??

In terms of left=left and right=right ..
the main/back camera works as expected ..but when it comes to the secondary/front camera, here's what my result is:
normal mode is actually "flipped/mirror"..meaning if you raised your left hand -->> picture actually shows right hand ..etc
and when switching to "flip" mode ... it acts accordingly ... left = left and right = right..but only when you have the device sideway to landscape ... if you hold it normally .. picture is upside down ..etc
Better yet, ... write out a word and view it with the front camera in both modes & you will get a clearer explanation of what I was trying to explain above
This is coming from "desktop webcam" point of perspective .... because with webcam, what you "noted" will read out normally ...
Imagine "video conferencing" and things do not read the "correct way"
or taking self portrait and the message is backward ...
what's up with that ??
almost 200 views ... yet, nobody has confirmed this bug ??
I'll take from the silence that we are all experiencing the same thing then !!
holler if you found a solution
I don't know, a face is a face. I just checked this bug out using the camera app, Very Interesting!;
I set it to Camera2, my face was a mirror image, I held a text card and yes the text was reversed.
I set it to Camera2 Flipped, my face was "normal", text was readable.
Here's what's ODD, in the Camera2 setting, if I "barrel rolled" rotated the camera 360 degrees while watching the monitor, My face was always upright!
If I set it to "Camera2 Flip" and rotated the camera, my image rotates upside down as the camera rotates.
That's different!
Hmm, just saw this and tried it. At first when I went to the camera options there were only the options main camera and 2nd camera (flip) so I hit that one and everything was reversed then I hit the camera button again and the option for 2nd camera without the (flip) was there and that one works the way it's supposed to.
basically what I'm saying is ...
If you ever have a video conference and the need for written words happen .. things are going to be all backward ..etc .. other then that ... the video is mirror in "normal mode"
and when it's in "flip mode" ... you're upside down at all times except when the unit is landscape position.
The camera should acted the same as your desktop webcam though ... where written message are seen as they should be seen ... the normal "readable" way !!!
Hi
This is how you see it of course at your end. A mirror image is normally more natural to look out when you are watching your image as a preview as we are used to seeing ourselves as a mirror image.
What is being sent to the person the other end, it probably isn't a mirror image but as you would expect. My webcam works in exactly this way, I can choose the type of preview image I see but this doesn't alter what the recipient sees.
Regards
Phil
Totally right. I don't think this is a bug.

Just click on the camera ICON, you will toggle from back, front(mirror), front(normal) and all your confusions will go away.
Unrelated yet related question...
Curious about a security app that possibly exists/could be written involving the front camera option. Is there any way that, unbeknowst to the "user", the front camera could capture their image and automatically e-mail it to the address that is associated with the phone's owner's personal information? Should someone, other than the true owner, pick up the phone and attempt to login, perhaps after the second failed password entry, this app could engage. [If it's just the true owner being forgetful, then they get an e-mail of themselves looking silly.] If the device is stolen, then the true owner at least has something to go on.
Better still, have the app automatically run as the last thing the device does before a soft-reset. If stolen, I have to imagine that the first thing the thief would do is reset the device. [Again, if it's the owner performing the re-set, no harm done]
Further - Have the GPS send along the location of the device at the moment the picture is taken.

Contact Photos - Am I missing something ??

Hi All
A quick question regarding the contact photos in the People tab in TouchFlo.
I click add favourite, and asks me to pick a contact... so I do.
Then it asks me to pick a photo or use the camera, at this point I WANT to use the camera.
The camera starts but is locked to full photo mode, not contact photo mode.
All the buttons that are normally there are gone leaving just the menu button, which is no use whatsoever. SURELY this is some sort of bug.
Even if I go back to full camera mode and set it to contacts mode (hoping it would use the last mode selected) it still uses full photo mode.
Am I doing something stupid or overlooking something really obvious ??
And before anyone says.... Yes I know I can take the photo first then add it later, it's not the point
BUMP
Could some one at least confirm that this happens on their Diamond as well, so I can at least know whether this is normal behavior or just my device.
It will take you around 1 minute to confirm.
... please
Confirmed from me ... Can't change photo mode... can't change where to save the picture, have to save it in 'device memory'.. bummer ...but I never noticed because I never used it that way...
Thanks mate for confirming that.
Like to meet the programming genius behind that... and ***** slap em upside the head

G-sensor in Albums

I have a weird thing going on..
When I view pictures using the Albums app and I have the unit sitting upwards, the image displays in landscape.
When I turn the unit sideways, the image rotates back as if the unit was upright.
Without hard-resetting... does anyone have any idea on how to go about solving this??
I am not running gsen, but I did have it installed at one point and it was working very well. Teeter, bubble level, and other tests work great.
Thanks in advance!
have you tried recalibrating it ?
there are a bunch of programs here that might help you do that (e.g. waterlevel)
Are you using GSen while _taking_ the pictures? I found out that some pictures themselves have been taken with the wrong orientation so it's not the album's problem but the pictures'. Try viewing a picture you upload to the phone and see if you have the same problem.
Thanks for the replies.
It was my understanding that the g-sensor wasnt able to be calibrated yet. I have bubblelevel and I used the calibration with that (but not recently).. so maybe that is causing my problem to begin with?
Does waterlevel actually calibrate the g-sensor or just the waterlevel software?
I dont have gsen installed anymore, it was giving me problem and never worked properly.
Okay I just realized something... I actually took the pictures while holding the camera sideways. So it would make sense that viewing the picture while the camera is upright is going to show the image on its side.. and visa versa when the camera is turned.
So is there any way to view a picture in albums with the camera turned on its side, and view a wide picture without having it turn the opposite way?
Try it, youll probably understand a little easier. Basically if the picture was taken wide, and you view it in albums on its side, it flips it the wrong way.
This is a known problem and I already reported it to HTC, not received a reply yet, but I hope they will be updating the Camera program so it takes in consideration the way the device is held when the picture is taken.
This is actually possible but the only one who can do that is the one who owns the source code, thus HTC.
Thanks for reporting on this Scotchy.. Good to know.

[Q] Camera Problem

My camera works well, the pictures looks good, but when i take a photo in a vertical way in my computer it looks like in a horizontal way. I've tried to change rom and nothing happened.
Hope u can help me
Sorry for my english
I believe this is how most camera phones are made.
You either need to do photos/videos with the phone horizontal or change the orientation manually using your computer afterwards.
