[Q] USB Tethering on Galaxy Note is it working out of the box?

good day, can anyone help me or atleast point me in the right direction if galaxy note usb tethering works out of the box? i just tried mine but the windows 7 OS doesnt have the drivers,it was recognized as "samsung_android" but no drivers are installed.... im wondering if mine is broken... thanks...

ok, i know now, to answer my own question, i have to INSTALL FIRST "Kies" to be able to install the driver and make the USB tethering work, so its NOT working OUT OF THE BOX right away..... too bad, i thought i can use it as a modem without installing any driver/software... let this be a reference for future Q's / Info ... more power xda-devs

[Q] Disable automatic mount dialog on USB connect?

For the record I did a search and the only similar thread I found was from 2010 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687587 and there aren't any solution/tips in there that are still relevant.
I've been finding with a lot of different roms (all jellybean ROMS as far as I can remember, but Slim 3.1 and 4.2.1 betas 1 & 2 for sure) that as soon as I plug in a USB cable the mount prompt comes up.
Does anyone know how/if this can be disabled? I prefer to only mount when I choose to touch the notification.

I'm not sure if that changes anything but I'm on AOKP with USB debugging on and other than the notification, I have to go in my pulldown menu to mount up.

try enabling both usb debug and usb debug notification. if usb debug is off, it may just jump to the usb storage prompt.
I'm on CM10.0, and I don't have the problem. when I connect usb cable, I get 2 notification icons: debug and usb. I only get the usb dialog if I tap on the usb notification.

Neither USB debugging nor USB debugging notify made any change, as soon as I plug my USB cable in, the fullscreen mount prompt pops up :/
The only thing I've found so far that gets rid of it is enabling fast charge, which I guess is acceptable if no other method can be found.

I was going to suggest what you already did and that was to enable fast charge.

I don't see anything like that in developer options on my phone... I assume by "active awy" you meant "active away"? Either way, didn't see anything similar anywhere on my phone.

Not sure what you mean, but for the record I've got an unlocked AT&T cappy, not a rogers one.

He has a htc mini or something like that.
the AT&T (I897) and Canadian (I896) are the same device.

[Q] Digitizer is Dead, Need Alternate Input Methods

So my nook has just decided that the touch screen just isn't going to work anymore. Otherwise everything else is perfect, what can I do to control this thing now? I didnt have usb debugging set up before, bluetooth is turned off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CWM recovery, there's no touch there and adb is enabled as well. So you can do whatever from there.

Make sure you do a full recovery backup first in the event you mess up and then find you need touch to do something.
There's some other possibilities such as getting your hands on a rom build update with usb debugging already enabled.
And then from there you should be able to force install an app to gain control of android remotely or for usb hosting.

Got OTG to work, needed to short some contacts on the motherboard to force it. Used the info from this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46186315&postcount=7 Its not pretty but its somewhat useful now, Droidmote costs but it works pretty well as a remote. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver

Screen Cracked. Can't access phone.

Hello everyone,
Just had a cracked screen on Z3+ and I can't seem to access my phone to backup important files. I need to enable USB debugging so I can control the phone from PC or use the "Detect USB Device" to enable the OTG and use a Mouse to control the phone. Any ideas?

Hello,
Unfortunately, with the Z3+ your screen becomes unresponsive once its cracked. The same happened to mine. The good news is there's a way of getting into the phone to backup and/or delete personal information before sending it off for repairs. You need a "otg usb on the go adapter cable", you connect one end to the phone and connect a mouse to the other end and use it to navigate the screen of your phone. There should be one among the accessories that came with the phone or you can get one on amazon or similar websites.

I have X Perfomance dual and dji phantom 3 Pro. I'm trying to connect the console to the phone, but the phone does not see it, it does not even start charging. With older devices everything works. (Z2, z3 compact, sgs 4 mini).
How much it seems to me that the console can not determine my X Perfomance as a drive. And he does not know mtp. Can anyone help you? Thank you!

Maybe you can try the USB MASS STORAGE Enabler, but you need a rooted device.
