So since the firmware updates are not 'flashable' yet via TWRP, am I right in assuming that one can only update one's firmware if one goes back to stock?? I know this will change but trying to understand the current options for flashing/installing firmware updates for the P9Plus (rooted), thanks
just flash original recovery over twrp than update as normal, then flash twrp/root after that.
thanks, any idea where to get original recovery?
I found in twrp topic or you can find in Rayglobe tool

I've had mine Rooted with a custom recovery and a custom rom for months now, I was just wondering when the Sense 4.3 comes will it update everything for me as I cannot get OTA? If not, what do I have to do to get OTA back? Do I just have to install an official rom and recovery img? I'm guessing rooting doesn't stop OTA as I was able to OTA in the past on another phone with it rooted.
thanx.

If you're not updating via OTA, then you're only updating ROM. Firmware and radio can be updated manually if you are s-off or if there's a firmware package that matches your CID and MID.
Flashing back to a stock ROM and recovery will allow you to accept OTA, then you can reroot and reflash custom ROM.

Hi everybody.
my HTC one has Viper 5.8 running with S-ON and i like it that way.
I never updated the Firmware since i moved from the 4.2.2 stock rom. (i have nandroid backup of the stock rom)
I am a bit scared doing S-OFF "just" to update firmware, hboot and radio, I know it should be easy to do, but i just don't want to.
So i thought that maybe i can flash back to the stock rom, then make the offical HTC update to 4.3 sense 6 (should also flash newest firmware right?) and then unlock the bootloader again, flash twrp and custom rom again.
Would that work? Is there something i have to pay attention to?
thx for any help!!!!

Since you don't want S-Off, that is your best option. I would follow closely @Mike1986 [GUIDE] Complete Flashing Guide | Rooting | Going Back To Stock it is for those who are S-On.
Thanks, I will follow the guide.
But I have one more question:
Can I do the official HTC update from the htc stock rom while I still have custom recovery and bootloader unlocked?
Can't find any any info if there is any risk involved not changing back first to stock recovery and bootloader relocked before doing the update.
I guess recovery will be overwritten by the official update?!?
You need stock recovery and locked bootloader to take updates

you don't need a locked bootloader to get an official ota update, however, you do need to flash a stock recovery !!.
I went through the ota update method to update my firmware as for some reason my htc one wouldn't s-off and I felt that it wasn't running as it should on custom roms with the old firmware.
I started off with a flashable zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition then ota updates, always doing a nand backup of rom.
always pull the stock recovery image from the ota before updating...
i'm now running 5.11.1540.9 firmware and all custom roms are running good...
if you google 4.06.1540.2 dev edition flashable zip you should find it,if not,i can upload it too somewhere for you...
an official htc ota update changes your firmware and installs a stock recovery..
its a bit long winded this way, but,it was the only way for me !!

First thank you for sharing your experience.
When you say "zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition" then you mean the rom, correct?
Why would you pull the stock recovery from the OTA before updating? What would be the consequence of leaving it in?
...
so i would download the odexed stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48111304
and afterwards flash the according recovery.img, correct?
i guess it is no problem that my phone (and their for the bootloader) was not a developer edition

yeah,it's a full flashable rom, that can be installed by custom recovery, when I say pull the stock recovery,i mean copy it to a folder on your pc,always best to have the matching recovery for your stock rom.
So I'm currently running BlissPop 5.0.2 and I wanna upgrade to a 5.1 ROM, but I was told I need to update bootloader and Radios, sorry I don't have much experience on this Subject, So what would be the easiest way to update both of these?? Thanx
And say the ROM I'm flashing doesn't work out for me for whatever reason and I need to Restore my nandroid backup (5.0.2 ROM) would I have to downgrade or whatever the bootloader and Radios again?? I'm confused lol thank you

easiest way to update is with fastboot and google images here is link to images https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
if you want to keep data or it wont flash follow this http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/12/running-into-the-dreaded-missing-system-img-error-flashing-android-5-0-factory-images-heres-how-to-get-around-it/ but you need to erase data because your on a custom rom and it probably wont be compatible with stock rom once you have updated everything reflash a custom recovery or dont flash the stock one at all then flash a 5.1 rom and good to go
What about all the Bootloader and radio zips that can be flashed through TWRP? I've read about people flashing the updates while still being on their 5.0.2 ROMs and everything still works fine, I don't have access to a computer I would like to just update straight from my phone without a Computer if possible? Think I could flash the Bootloader and radio updates through TWRP then reboot n after everything is all good go back and flash the new 5.1 ROM and gapps?

i don't know if anyone has twrp flashables for the updating bootloader and radios your searching is as good as mine here i am not experienced with that i always used factory images or ota updates to update those things.
but if you happen to have a backup of your stock rom in twrp you maybe able to just go back to stock then flash back your stock recovery then update with an ota but for an ota to work it has to be all stock no root no nothing just stock.

So I've reset my HTC One back to stock 2 days ago and since then have received a lot of OTA updates.
Then I found that I had lost root.
I managed to reinstall TWRP and root today, but got another OTA update notification.
Because I don't want to lose root (and because TWRP says you should not update with custom recoveries), I'm looking for another way to update.
TWRP suggests to "wait for the developers to create a new ROM" but honestly, finding something in this forum is not easy...
My update is 6.09.401, but if there is something more recent I'll take that (but still KitKat). I've looked in the ROM collection but the latest seems to be 5.x or jump to 7.xx.
If I have to do some work (e.g. more research) please direct me to the right direction and I'll be happy to do it.
Will RUUs work? Still not clear what they are.

Yep, you'll always loose root after an OTA update. Must ppl doesn't matter about that since it only takes a few minutes to root again.

The only way to use ota update is by flashing back the stock recovery that match your version-main. Like said above, you'll loose root after an update. You can also update your phone by flashing a RUU but you'll also loose root and all your file since the RUU will make your phone stock, like if it was brand new.

The latest Kitkat version is 6.09.401.12 otherwise its lollipop 7.19.401.x
I think the simplest solution since you want to stay on kitkat is to reflash your stock recovery 6.09.401.? (you didn't typed the last number), install the ota updates until you are on 6.09.401.11 or 6.09.401.12, reflash twrp and flash Supersu to re-root.

RUU are packages that will restore then entire phone Software and firmware partitions.
Thanks alray.
So are you saying there is not pre-rooted 6.09.401.11 ROM available to flash on the forum?
Where shall I look for it?

Maybe i don't know. All roms are posted in the development section. Why not simply updating your phone and flashing Supersu again? It will take you maybe 20 min to install the update, reflash twrp and root...

I'll have to find and flash the stock ROM first, do the updates, then flash TWRP and SuperSu.
If there is a way to flash only once why should I waste time (and increase chances of bricking the phone)?

You already are on the stock rom, just flash the stock recovery over twrp, install ota update(s) until you are on the desired version, flash twrp and supersu. There isn't really any chances to brick....
Code:
fastboot flash recovery your_stock_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
Then boot the phone, install update(s). Once updated to the desired version, reflash twrp:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Boot in twrp, install supersu 2.46.zip then reboot in the OS and you're done.
But yes if you prefer you can find a stock rooted rom of 6.09.401.11 if there is still one somewhere.
I had rooted my K3 note by replacing the stock recovery with TWRP with the help of SP Flash tools and installing SuperSU.
Recently the Marshmallow OTA update rolled out for the Indian K3 Note. However, when I try installing it, the phone simply reboots without updating. Going through the forums, I believe that this is due to the absence of the stock recovery which seems to be required for installing the update.
I also believe that if I try manually flashing the OTA update zip through TWRP, it'll probably fail, since this is what most people have attempted to do so have experienced.
So how do I go about installing the OTA update now? Do I have to reinstall the stock recovery or is there a workaround via TWRP? If I do have to unroot and install stock recovery, how do I go about it? I don't want to go through the hassles of unrooting my phone to install this update, neither do I want to apply any unofficial ROMs such as the cuoco92 one.
Suggest me some solutions guys..
Thanks in advance

Stop spreading misinformation mate, if you don't know what you're talking about. I've spent the whole evening looking through the internet regarding my query where all of them say that the OTA update only works with stock recovery. Flashing the official OTA update with TWRP will most definitely not work.
There is no definitive article or post which explains how to do it with a rooted phone and custom recovery, which is what I'm looking for.
