1. MIUI 8 RC5 (marshmallow)
2. [ROM][7.1]Radioactive Kernel+AOKP
3. [ROM/KERNEL] NucleaRom NOUGAT [Android 7.1_r7] + Radioactive Reborn Kernel

Haven't tried any rom except CM 14.1 (November build, yesterday's build have finger print issues as per comments), totally happy with that.

Hi, im using now zui and it's pretty similar on concept to miui and works pretty well but I installed just yesterday and I'm tweaking it a little bit yet, what's not working fine it's the notifications I receive only few and I activate it all also the 4g its not working fast so I will probably switch the card to try.
I aksi tried nightlys 13.1 and 14.1 that works also very well a and it's the most similar to android stock.
What I notice with zui is that the battery life its a bit better and the camera also do better photos in my view.
So try yourself and decide and of course forget about the capacite buttons.

I am using the ZUI 2.3.045 as well. It is by far better and faster than any other custom ROM. The fingerprint sensor is much more reliable and fast and the battery life better. Idle battery consumption is better too.
Also, in my opinion its far more beautiful than stock Android but that is a personal taste. Surprisingly, ZUK has done a good job, something unusual for a Chinese company other than Xiaomi and Meizu.

Thanks for your detailed reviews!
May I know how do you flash it?
Does 2.3.045 can install xposed and also viper4android?
Cuz I am planning to try this rom with twrp flash version
(http://zukfans.eu/community/threads/twrp-z1-zui-2-3-045-st.1439/)

I found it on another forum and it is flashable via TWRP. Root is achieved after flashing the SU via TWRP also. Unfortunately, I haven't tried installing neither Xposed nor viper.
Edit: Yeah, this is the one I flashed. Google services and Play Store are installed via the Chinese Store that comes with the ROM.

The battery is better than any other ROM I've tried so far (Nuclear 6.0.1/7.1.1, Cyanogenmod 14.1, MIUI). GPS is good although I must admit I've done little testing. As for stability, yes, it is rock solid.

No bugs so far and I've been using it for a week now. Yes, you need to wipe system as well. So it is cache, dalvik cache, system and data. Of course, don't wipe the internal storage as there is where your ROM zip will be.
I should mention that I restored all my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly.

Do you use greenify for saving the battery as well? Or actually there is no need to use it on this rom?

Oh, no, I never use Greenify on any of my smartphones. I personally find it needless. Besides, battery life and performance are awesome on ZUK Z1 that there no need for Greenify.

there isnt Ivan aosp?
yes there is one... But it doesn't have any customisatons option.. And my mobile gets easily even in moderate use..
How about Miui V7. Did you try?
I want stock like nexus.. miui lags
There were a lot of stable cm and aosp+ builds of KitKat. Download 1 of them and flash a modern kernel for lp or one of them that has KitKat support and it should work just fine. I flashed carbon rom then flashed xcelerate build 65 kernel without any issues booting or functioning. I never used it long enough to confirm random reboot was gone but as that was related to kernel issue the odds are it wasn't going to ever happen

Me too. I don't really like MIUI. Why don't you try Lollipop ROM like Blisspop. It's quite stable, no bugs, no SOD, customizable, you can use as daily ROM. I used Extended Partition, TWRP and TK Gapps.
It is better than MIUI, I think.
lollipop don't have good battery backup
this is not entirely true ... the difference is about 10 or up to 20% in favor of miui (stable) ... the latest china developer MIUI rom also suffers from poor battery life... sacrifice 1h (sot) use of the phone is quite profitable ... in my eyes.
Sot may not see a huge difference but with standby time KitKat blew lp out of the water unless you didn't flash gapps in lp. That's my opinion and experience anyway. Gapps in lollipop is always a huge battery drain I've never been able to fully control even by turning everything off in app ops and etc.

There are any issues with your configuration ?
Only real problem I seen was a slower charge and the back camera didn't work and the front camera quality was crap. If it had a working camera I would honestly still be using carbon KitKat or even pa aosp+ KitKat which didn't have the slow charging issue but didn't look as nice though either.
Sorry my quotes no longer work Tapatalk has to keep screwing up a good thing and turning it into crap

out of all the custom roms i tried, Ivan's aosp kitkat was the most stable and I had no problems with it except the capacitive button light issue which wasn't a major concern for me, for customizations xposed was my way to go. I highly recommend you to try it if stability is your concern ✌
hope this helped you

I wouldn't recommend it because the only good KitKat rom for this phone was Ivan's. Pa wasn't bad but you won't have a camera anymore. I never tested it on Ivan's but I did test it on carbon and WiFi worked fine on it if I remember correctly. The slow charging (which is fixable flashing a boot.img from a rom with faster charging) and not having a working camera kept me from keeping it. I still wouldn't recommending going to KitKat unless you can persuade a Dev to make a fully functional KitKat rom. I seen a couple devs say they would but never followed through and with all the real devs working on marshmallow your not going to see any help there.

On PA with Xcelerate, Wi-Fi didn't work and also there was frequent android.media force closes. Not with other kernels though. Camera of course doesn't work.
I didn't stayed long on the ROM. But I did got a random reboot type once (in PA the phone simply dies and u have to hard reboot). Camera doesn't work of course.
Ivan's ROM is laggy af. The scrolling is laggy everywhere and etc. I don't like the custom kernels as the phone heats (little bit less with Xcelerate). And not quite sure whether the upcoming Xcelerate build will be compatible with MIUI.
Only MIUI is the usable Kitsap ROM quite actually. Would have been cool if Xiaomi upgraded the Android version, which is not gonna happen at all IMO

What he is saying is that you can do a lot of customization with a rooted phone and Xposed without flashing a custom ROM. The downside is that you are still stuck with a lot of bloat in the stock apps. There are ways to remove them but doesn't always work and can cause other problems. And there are limits to Xposed. The upside is it is less risky to go the Xposed/root/stock route.
I have tried numerous custom ROM's and they all have pros and cons. I have been on AOSP with Monster Kernel and Slim_zero_gapps_beta for a while now and am very pleased with it. Minimal OS is also quite good, but I have a custom app that I use and it didn't work with Minimal. If not for that it would be my ROM of choice.
In spite of what some people will tell you, there is no "perfect" ROM that meets all needs for all users. I suggest you try a couple and see what works for you. However, be sure you have read all you can about flashing ROM's and when you think you understand it all, read it again. Always do a nanroid backup of your current working config before flashing. Store all backups and files you need to flash on your external SD-Card. Don't switch from one ROM to another without doing a full wipe. Use TWRP 2.8.x for your recovery.
Once again be sure you have a good understanding of the steps you need to follow before flashing any ROM. I see far too many sad pleas for help from users who jumped in too quickly and have bricked their devices. Do the research before you proceed. Don't expect to led by the hand but don't be afraid to ask questions if something is not clear. Good luck my friend.
I have been using AOSP for a while, and I'm happy with it (cuz it has awesome battery backup). However, AOSP's latest build now has battery drain issue, and I have to find another ROM that is bug-free and has good battery backup.
Can anyone suggest some stable ROMs which last about 5h sot? Thanks in advance!

I'm using Minimal OS, works like a charm. Great battery and performance, also, no bugs so far.
ROMS I've seperated into category's (NOTE THIS IS IN MY OPINION)
Performance : Radium Redefined (5.0.2)bundled with Stellar Kernel (It aslo has amazing battery backup but i like it for its perfomance)
Battery : Fusion (5.1.1) with Halogen Kernel
Balanced : Minimal OS with Decipher Kernel
Overall : Titan Prime Anorexic bundled with Stellar Kernel (find this on the titan prime rom website, link in the TP thread)
Note except Minimal OS, all other ROM's ive mentioned, I've used Abhisheks battery guide (in general section of forum)
For daily use, is best stock rom with xposed or minimal os?
I want no problems... I want only personalize my smartphone and use root with apps likes greenify for example... Thanks you so much

If you're going for a daily driver then I'd suggest you use stock+stellar kernel with xposed (Stellar Kernel+Amplify+PowerNap=Epicness). Minimal OS is good and all with balanced performance with decipher kernel but I'd still go with the stock.

LOST in a sea of roms

Hi there.
I been spending several hours reading user's opinions about several roms for the xsp.
I saw plenty of unofficial roms based on cyanogenmod official roms. And the question that pops into my mind it's.
Why so many mods? People doesn't like the official releases?
Also I been reading that 5.1 roms are laggy, and in a custom rom i'm looking for stability and performance.
Maybe I should go for and official cyanogenmod 11 rom?
Maybe for a stock based rom?
What do you think?
Hello.
Yes, there is a lot of rom for SP. But just a few work as it supposed to.
Lollipop it is in his nightly stage, though is very stable and the most recent apps, you will be able to use.
There is too a recent patch for security, we should take in consideration, Im using myself as a daily driver without problems, nevertheless still have some minor bugs, but nothing that cant make you wish to throw your SP on wall
If you want to test and see how looks like, I would recommend Sabermod Unofficial Or CM 12.1 Official Nightly
cm12.1+ addons imo cuz it's my second full month on it and it never failed me ....no problems for me and great performance

battery is good too yep
Go for CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies with addons...Its Best for lollipop based ROMs.
You can try unofficial CM13 also if you can use the phone without camera. Battery life and performance of CM13 is far better than cm 12.1.
To be honest, is a matter of usage and preference. For me it was working fine but my phone got way too hot for my taste, but the deal breaker was that no matter what lolipop ROM I used facebook HD playback was choppy as hell. I know that it sounds silly but that's something that I need. None of these issues exist on stock, of course (C5306 - 1.205)
I think the Sabermod unofficial takes the lead on cm12.1 ... Great battery and butter smooth. I think it' s the for performance and battery !
I use official CM11 slimmed by me, without gapps, disabled LogCat, little modified build.prop + WilliamsPLUS and I'm really happy ; p
which 5.1 rom has fewer lag and more batterylife?
@beodo
A sea of roms but many of them are discontinued or not updated, so first check that one.
As fellow members said CyanogenMod 12.1 Unofficial SaberMod with add ons is the best right now for me as well, very fast, really fluid, stable and good battery life, in is some parts is even better than the latest official stock rom.
I m using this rom for over a month and i love it.
If you need even better battery life you could use Helium kernel (just dirty flash at recovery) and enable conservative governor, if you would like to take it further you can also install xposed framework which unlocks you much more features like power saving better experience, extra customization and more.
All of the above are continuously updated and supported by our great developers too :good:

Resurrection Remix 6.0.0 unofficial Oreo 8.1.0 Rom discussion

Hello there i'm using RR 6 unofficial by Arasthel https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=249040
Is FaceUnlock working for you? i got errors in logcat and it's not working for me.
here my setup :

RR-O-v6.0.0-20180222-chiron-Unofficial.zip
open_gapps-arm64-8.1-aroma-20180221-UNOFFICIAL.zip
edit after 2 weeks, rom is great and battery life is good, not issues at all except faceunlock not working and my usb headphones not working for calls but working for everything else.
Same issue for me. I tried faceunlock magisk module because it works fine with RR 6.0 on my s7 edge
Awesome !
ATM, is enought stable to use it as a daily driver? I mean, calls and camera (i don't want super quality, just something working) works ?

Well, MIUI is no goodness speaking of the SOT. You gain a massive one because of agressive RAM management. But if you turn all social apps notifications on, then Bang the battery goes down as f... Talk to me pal, substratum works or Andromeda is inevitable. What gcam u using? And hopefully u won't be saying GFY and google it. Many thanks
try again RR 6.0 and again this f***king battery drain ! but always when i dont use my phone ! It's
incomprehensible !

Did you flash the MIUI firmware and kernel?
Someone else mentioned battery draining issues while roaming, maybe that's your issue too?

What is your exact flashing order? Did you do a completely clean flash or did you flash the kernel and FW without wiping and formatting data?
This is what I flashed, maybe try another clean flash and do exactly what I did

Just not format data, i dont was on my computer for save my backup so...
Just this wipe can resolve all ? I do a full wipe like every custom rom i have flash (since many years now), never do a format data

I believe a format data is pretty much necessary when coming from MIUI.
Okay, i'll try it

Can you please tell me what exactly you did that your gcam is working? i already tried everything possible, but only the old version 3.x.x from B-S-G is working. Every other Gcam is crashing on startup. I tried with and without magisk modules. I flashed different Kernels and Firmwares, cleared cache etc... but still crashing on startup.

Sorry, but you'll have to test them by yourself and pick one that works for you... what suits me probably won't suit you. The features that I use the most probably are not as important to you, and probably the things that are important to you I don't use as much in order to say they are stable. The apps I use probably are not the same as you, the signal strength, the carrier, the charger, the bluetooth devices, the root method, magisk modules or even if you are not going to root.
I'm enjoying the PE+ rom, but I did many tweaks to it and it works for me, but there are many people facing really annoying bugs that makes it a no go. So there isn't an easy answer for what you are looking for.

wow what kind of useless responses are those? He didnt say what is the best one, he asked what is the most stable dudes.
Hi! I tried most of them, PE+, HavocOS, AICP, LINEAGE, in my case the most stable and daily driver is Havoc OS, there is one problem on all of them for me, my banking app wont run on modded rom's so i reverted to miui, android one.
There is trial and error, some might work from start, some are harder to make them run ok, without any crashes. The fastest one i found was Pixel Experience+, the most stable one, Lineage OS(be carefull, it doesnt support google apps from the box), and the one which does any task well, good battery and stability in my case, was Havoc OS. With pleasure, ViVa.

The most stable ROM is obviously stock.

Lol, no.
Stock has serious bootloop issues between updates.
If you're staying on stock you should still unlock bootloader, just in case. And backup important data before updates.
This saved me 4 or 5 times already.

Which Android version? I am on 10 and never had a boot loop after update but I always do it manually using fastboot.
I've also stripped Stock down to the bare-bones - no Google anything, except Play Services, Phone and Contacts and everything seems to work OK with no crashes ever.
I concur with your bootloader unlock advice.

Hi all,
I bought my A2 yesterday. This is my first time thinking of using stock rom instead flashing i.e. Lineage. Can you describe the steps to stripe down stock?
Thanks!

Root using Magisk, then use something like link2SD to get rid of the bloat. I always freeze the unwanted Apps instead of deleting them.
