Since Samsung has had their Android Wear version of their Gear watches announced (and available for order today), what's the odds of that ROM being loaded on our Gear 1 devices? I, for one, have not gone to Tizen yet in hopes of this taking place and it seems like we are on the verge of this happening. I know it will not be an official release, but something where a rooted device would be needed.
I second ur hopes - held off on Tizen for the same reason
Whether or not Android Wear's better than Tizen all depends on which apps you use on your phone. Android Wear (like Google Now) is dependent on using Google's apps and services. Most of what Now reports off of is scraped from Gmail. I don't use Gmail or any Google apps I don't have to so Now and Android Wear are useless to me and those like me. Most corporate/professional users that use MS products, Exchange, and connect to secure networks (which typically limit apps used for personal use) aren't going to be Android Wear candidates.

I'm sure it'll fit perfectly with gear 2. I see the .tar having the drivers for the watch it's a dependent of
I would be very interested in a Wear port too.
As far as I can see, not too many things have changed on the Gear live compaired to the Gear 1.
Sure, the CPU would be faster but the screen and memory size are the same.
Count me in as well, this is where xda shines.... people coming together to contribute to the common goal. Can't wait.

It's a discussion forum, no? Everyone here is a wearables early adopter so are interested in whatever comes next. And not everyone here uses their devices the same way or wants the same things. Other than blind fanbois who clearly have no objectivity, I enjoy hearing people's different views; even if I don't agree with them. Your post added less to this discussion than mine did. People wetting themselves over something no one here knows the functional value of (yet) is the height of fanboi-ism. Android Wear could change the world as we know it. It's going to take more than a five minute conference dog and pony for that to happen.
A discussion by folks who want wear not about discussing why someone doesn't need nor want-not a fan of any particular aspect - just bored with Gear 1-if motor 360 looks good I'll purchase, if not then wait a while
Does it only work with Samsung products, I have an invite for an one plus one I want to know if it'll work with the phone too?

I have been waiting for Android Wear to be released. I believe it would be a wonderful fit for the galaxy gear 1. Let's not forget the functionality of the gear 1 using the Null ROM....android based. Today's conference reiterated how coding would not be that much different for normal Android code. Sounds promising to me.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Free mobile app
From earlier discussions and threads I believe Android wear requires a 4.4 based Rom to operate. The Gear 1 Roms and Null Rom are 4.3 based. The real hurdle will be getting a 4.4 Rom on the Gear. The Devs and contributors on XDA are very talented so with this release of the Gear Live maybe they can accomplish it.
I am curious what the battery will be like on the Gear Live with the always on features of Android wear. The screen has to go into some type of low power mode for the 300mAh battery to last through a day. I also have a Qualcomm Toq that I picked up cheap on ebay, that uses a Mirasol Screen and only has a 240mAh battery. I get 4-5 days always on with it (even over night). The Toq has a tiny processor, runs a unique OS, and the colors are not vibrant, but it is a very capable demonstration smartwatch. I think there may be a future for more advanced Mirasol screens.
Anyway good to see some excitement over our Gear 1. I have enjoyed being an early adapter and experimenting with Null and Tizen on the watch. Maybe Android Wear is in our future.
I want to see this. I really need to get off of this touchwiz train. Wear works with any android at least 4.3.
Hey can someone help me unbrick my alcatel one touch evolve tmobile? I tried using adb and sdk but its not working correctly for some reason. It just says closed every time i try to execute a command... :/

Sorry i was refering to @Mr Ian B's question on watchstyler on Android Wear, didn't realize it could have applied to your original question in the OP. :cyclops:
Android wear was just announced yesterday, so it will probably be a while before devs can get their hands on a device, then another while before we see a port, only after that will we see if other features like watchstyler will be able to be ported onto android wear, should not be a major problem as both are of the same platform.
Personally I cannot wait to see a port of Android wear onto the gear1, I would like to see how my gear1 fares withe the screen on feature:laugh:
Hello good people. Doesn't anyone know if the TF701 is getting this upgrade?
We can hope so but I've not seen anything official from Asus.
Highly unlikely imo but you never know. We are approaching the 18 month point that marks the end of official support.

So that means soon we will be in month 14.
I feel like Asus abandoned us
I've been holding off putting a third party ROM on my TF701T as Asus had been good about updating other tablets. But I feel like their crappy docking hinge caused lower sales which makes them care very little about this particular product. My guess is we aren't going to see Lollipop officially. Good things there is active development going on.

He (pershoot) has said it a couple of times in his CM thread that he was going to make a lollipop rom, but it was a while ago, and I assume most people forgot about it or something.

While I don't want to raise false hope, I just want to share one special brochure made by ASUS Singapore, indicating that there might be a 5.0 update for the tf701t. http://pricewatch.vr-zone.com/itshow/pricelists/view/ASUS7

No, these weren't just app updates they were system updates. Got to watch the android dude a little bit both times. After the first my background changed after the second the pulldown changed. Still on 4.4.2
While I was in contact with ASUS support I asked about Android L to the TF701T. First they said that they had no info, but later I got a reply, where they said that the had contacted the RD-department and that ASUS have no plans on releasing Android L for the TF701T.
We can onlu hope that this info is incorrect or ASUS change their minds. They havn'nt made any offical statement at all regaring Android L to tablets, have they?

It doesn't surprise me as we are approaching 2 years. ASUS don't really release updates beyond 18 months. All their latest transformers seem to be using Intel chips for Android as well.
As I'm sure many of you have heard by now Google announced Android Wear on ios this week (start of sept 15) but apparently this first iteration will only work with a few smartwatches. One of those mentioned was the urbane and since ours is basically same hardware I was wondering if anyone has managed to get this to work yet ? Yes I know this means admitting that you have a different phone that is NOT an android but Android Wear is android so it is a valid question. thanks.
UPDATE: Looks like the discussion has already started see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ndroid-wear-ios-connectivity-t3052524/page106 post#1060 onwards...
The watch requires Wear 1.3 to talk to iOS. It's this reason the older watches aren't "supported" because without an Android phone connecting to them first they'll never get the update.

With the launch of the OP5, does the OP3/3T will continues to receives updates? Will it be updated to Android O?
We are not Oneplus, we're just normal owners/Oneplus users just like you, we don't know now about this than you do. We can only guess, no definitive answers. I don't think you will get any definitive answer out of Oneplus even if they would hang around here outside of their own forum.

This site is dubious. Doesn't say any source. As OnePlus has not made any announcement regarding android o anywhere it's pretty hard to say right now. They said OnePlus 2 will get nougat but never specified any timeline and now OnePlus 2 users are bombarding every forum asking for it. So untill and unless OnePlus 5 actually is released we can't say if they'll show the same love to OnePlus 3 / 3T.

Hopefully this will address some of the performance issues with Wear 2.0??
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...s-revamp-makes-the-os-work-more-like-android/
It seems to come to the ZW3, but I'm not too optimistic about the optimizations. Asus did not a very good job in bringing AW2 to ZW3.
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003 mit Tapatalk
I saw that article. I'm hoping that there are some optimizations in AW3 that are just inherent to the improvements made by Google themselves. Most of these watches run on virtually identical hardware, so there shouldn't be much performance/endurance difference between them.
Is the update going to be pushed by ASUS or WearOS app?
If it's going to be by ASUS, I don't think we will ever get it.
I know what the article says, but what do we think the chances are we will get the update?
Has anyone got 2.1?https://m.gsmarena.com/the_redesign...ling_out_to_smartwatches_today-news-33513.php

If you look in your app drawer you will see that the
text/label/fonts next to the icons is now a very bold
and nicer font. Easier to read especially at first glance.
I am sure there are more differences, but no time to
hunt them all down. I am speaking about the wear os
which google updated via the play store today.
(it's not the system update)
Good luck, have a great day!

@Der-Knuffi
But will the new update be a full firmware update like Android Wear 2.0
was or will it be another play store update of the Wear OS app?
I am a bit confused, is this Wear OS 2.1 a playstore update for the Wear OS 2.1 app or is it a firmware update like the Android Wear 2.0 was about a year ago or so?
I have a Zenwatch 3 and have flashed several @janjan roms using ADB fastboot and many times I had to downgrade to Android Wear 1.5 before I could successfully flash these custom janjan Android Wear 2.0 firmwares (roms).
After flashing the Android Wear 1.5 stock system.img, recovery.img and boot.img
the watch booted up perfect;y and alerted me that it's downloading the Android Wear 2.0 firmware update. The watch updated properly and perfectly without any issues. But all of what I just wrote means nothing if we are all waiting for a Wear OS 2.1 app (apk file) from the playstore and not an actual full firmware update.
If it is a full firmware update I am wondering what would happen if I were to downgrade to Android Wear 1.5 and allow the watch to do it's update, would the firmware update be Wear OS v2.1 or would the watch simply install the official Android Wear 2.0 full firmware again?
All of the above means nothing if all we are talking about is a Wear OS 2.1 update from the playstore. I just got a play store Wear OS update this morning and I found that after the update the fonts and text in my app drawer looked a lot nicer.
The fonts next to the icons in my app drawer are now bold fonts/text and I think they are a bit larger too. It really looks nice.
Before I updated the Wear OS app this morning I scrolled down in my watch to view all the the screen shots of the Wear OS update and noticed that there were many screens which where new and different but after the update I did not have any of those screens which were depicted in the new Wear OS playstore update in my watch.
The exact version of the playstore update this morning of the Wear OS app is:
Wear OS 2.16.0214308073 and incase it means anything the play services app has a version of 13,2,80 (050300-211705629)
Let me know what you guys find out.
The main thing that we all need to know is whether this Wear 2.1 update is a playstore app or if it's a full new updated firmware.

I didn't notice big improvements from previous version. It's still laggy all over the place (what to expect from a snapdragon 400 anyway)
That said, I think the new navigation is much better than the old one. Horizontal swipe on watch face now actually does something useful. I can read more than a notifications on the watch screen. Expanding notification seem to draw less resource, so it feels smoother.

Zenwatch3 uses Snapdragon 2100. But yeah. It is laggy as hell.
For the update, must be staged or something, I tried the two hacks for forcing the update, but nothing. Can you please share a photo of "Versions" screen?
Interestingly the update hasn't bumped up the android version so i think it's not to the core OS. Could explain why Google were able to promise it to all even though the Zenwatch 3 didn't get the last update

You are so right, even now half the people don't know
for sure if this new update is a firmware update or only
a cosmetic update with a few new features and changes.
A lot of people are not even sure if this update is simply
a new version of the Wear OS app from the play store
or if it's a true system firmware update like the Android
Wear 2.0 was. (OTA)
Good luck, have a great day! (enjoy the update)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what I done to get the update sooner without waiting for it.
First of all I must say the following:
This update is just a UI update NOT a firmware update. That's why our version numbers do not change after the watch updated. I have a Zenwatch 3.
What I had to do to get the update was to re-install/flash the original Android Wear 1.5 firmware. (the firmware which came with the watch when I first purchased it).
I tried all the other ways people here talk about but none of those ways worked for me.
After flashing the original Zenwatch 3 Android Wear 1.5 firmware the watch automatically started the UI upgrade within less than 5minutes. The watch rebooted twice before the update was completed.
Just remember everyone, we are NOT talking about any SYSTEM version update but instead it's just a UI cosmetic upgrade which does not change any of the watch's version numbers.
I don't know why the Wear OS developers who announced this Wear 2.1 upgrade could not simply tell everyone what's really going on instead of letting everyone guess. LOL
Good luck everyone. LOL
To me, this fits in with the new Google approach.
Being able to push 'partial' updates directly regardless of the individual drivers / base software installed by the individual manufacturers.
From my pov, I'm a fan, getting the newer look and feel on older devices faster. Win all round if they apply to phones as well.
As an aside, I upgraded yesterday, battery life today hugely improved so some optimisation has certainly gone through.
(Agree with the earlier poster as well, the UI is still a bit laggy)
Gives me hope we may see future updates c/o Google, as Asus are unlikely to.
