When I install Magisk (I have tried both verion 9 and 10) I get this when I try to start the built-in camera app:
Error The camera may be in use by another application.

I have tried with a third party camera app from Play Store, and that works most of the time, but that sometimes only gives me a solid green image (but that's probably an unrelated bug in that camera app). The Snapchat camera works as it should. I have tried several resets and reflashes (both of the Telenor Norwegian Nougat "F8131_39.2.A.0.361_Telenor Mobil NO" and the Nordic Nougat "F8131_39.2.A.0.361_NOBA.ftf" without the Telenor stuff), and it is totally consistent. When I flash the modifed AndroPlus Kernel (from TWRP or Fastboot), the camera works as it should. When I install Magisk, the camera stops working and gives me that message. I can then get it working again by flashing the AndroPlus Kernel again. Any idea what can be done to fix this?
Oh, it's not the rooting in itself, I have now rooted with SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521.zip, and that worked as it should. No camera malfunctions.

Xposed does not work well in Z2, in the beginning yes, but after some time with the screen off (inactive device) the touch does not work anymore, you need to reboot to get back to normal, this happens both in CM11 as the. Carbon ROM (PA based). sorry my english.
Please check if this happens without any active modules as well, and obviously if uninstalling Xposed fixes it.
Once you're sure that it's the framework, please try to get a logcat or something that can help me understand what the issue might be.
I am also having xperia z2. I have installed xposed 2.6.1. After installing xposed my phone cannot boot into recovery mode. I had z2 dual recovery before.
Edit:now every thing works fine. I messed it up because I installed busy box from playstore
My problem is this, the phone works fine without active Xposed, but to activate it, (no module) the touch stops working after a few "locks / unlocks", I even wiping data and uninstalling Xposed, the problem continues but maybe problem only appears after Xposed first activated, and even without Xposed (after that) the problem continues, I really want to use a AOSP ROM and have context Xposed working well, do whatever is in my power to help! :/

Looks like the problem isn't related to Xposed, then, and it was just a coincidence you noticed it after installing Xposed.
I know it sounds friend, but I tried about eight times o) and the problem only appeared when activated the Xposed unfortunately I'm sure it is. Strange is that the stock ROM it works perfectly
I am unable to update framework, when I try to update it shows me following error.

The message says: "mount: permission denied (are you root?)". I suggest you try a different root app, e.g. SuperSU.
This is what I get from the built-in camera app of my about one week old XP. Drives me nuts. I have defrosted all the bloatware I had freezed with Titanium, because I thought that may have been the reason. But it wasn't. I have tried with a third party camera app from Play Store, and that works without problems. So does the Snapchat camera. So it's nothing hardware, it's something that ties up the app. I have tried to reset the camera app, wipe data for the app and wipe dalvik and regular cache from TWRP. Any ideas what else I can do?
Could you find any solution?
Apart from using a third party app, not so far.
i have same problem
how to fix it? still waiting
I think it's the rooting with Magisk! I will see if I can find the developer. Have you two rooted?
Oh, it's not the rooting in itself, it must be Magisk. I have now rooted with SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521.zip, and that worked as it should. No camera malfunctions.
I have reported it in the Magisk forum.
I have done a full repair using xperia companion and it still won't work. I believe Magisk is still installed, but I've already tried uninstalling it so how would I make sure?
Once you've unlocked the bootloader, it must be unlocked in order to use the stock camera app on an official ROM
use custom kernel to fix the problem

The problem is that the camera doesnt work with a RE-LOCKED bootloader , flashing a custom kernel is not possible with a LOCKED/RELOCKED bootloader.
I just realized my camera isn't functioning anymore.
Each timeI try to open the stock camera app, the app will now say "can't connect to camera" and then quits. Other apps that make use of the camera will also complain about a problem with it.
Coincidentally, I upgraded magisk (canary build) to version ce7cb1ee (20706) last night. And I was using my camera just yesterday with no problems at all.
So I strongly suspect it may have something to do with the latest magisk build. Anything I can do to revert it back to the previous version?
(also note to self: do a full TWRP backup, and backup my own data too using methods like tar, next time before flashing new magisk)

Try to flash magisk 20.3 via twrp and delete cache and dalvik
Maybe stupid question, but have you tried to reset your phone? Xd
Have you any camera mods in Magisk modules, like Camera 2 API enabler or sth?

Thanks for replying !
I am now all but certain the latest Magisk canary build (edit: version 20306) as a compatibility bug with MIUI 10.
Ended up flashing to MIUI 11, installed Magisk, no issues.
Just for the sake of testing, I used MiFlash to do a fresh install of MIUI10, then installed Magisk. Camera became useless. Flashed previous version of Magisk canary. Things went back to normal.
Because of this I spent hours upgrading to MIUI 11 (so it gave me extra motivation to finally made the move), figuring out what to debloat, and did a slow and arduous operation of moving data slowly back to the system (so I can have a clean fresh MIUI11 with empty data partition and empty storage to begin with). So all is still good i guess.
Has anyone made the ANXCamera run on Poco x3 with a custom ROM?
I'm using @gardiols LineageOS 17.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-10-lineageos-17-1-unofficial-surya-karna.4202533/ with Magisk 22.1.
I used Magisk to install ANXCamera.190, ANXFramework.190, ANX48MPFix R.201 and (after getting stuck) Bootloop-Hotfix.190
I found two new apps, ANX Camera and ANX Scanner on my phone after flashing. While ANXScanner seems to work just fine, ANX Camera just makes a black screen (first start after reboot) or just a crash (all other attempts).
I was doing something wrong:
I am getting black screen when I open ANXCamera.
Enable all permissions manually.

(from a faq on github, not the anxcamera homepage)
Some fiddling later:
I still get "Can't connect to camera" in Portrait mode. event tho I have the 48 MP fix installed.
I also tried out the 64 button (in more), which stopped the camera from doing anything.
Switching to front camera crahes the app.
So it's kind of "works a little, handle with care" kind of thing.
Also: The camera that came with lineage was uninstalled when I flashed the ANXCamera files, which I did not expect.
FWIW, I recall reading somewhere that you need to start with ANXCamera.150 and open it, before going to ANXCamera.190...
This Telegram channel has the working version of ANXCamera.
Just follow the instructions,
It works fine on my Poco X3 running Evolution X 5.6
Cheers
Well, I have now a fully wiped and formated Lineage, downloaded as instructed 1.5 and 2.3_N from the telegram group. Flashed 1.5, booted, started 1.5 (crashed without delay), reboot to recovery, flashed 2.3, reboot, Camera says" can't connect to camera".
That's worse than my first try
EDIT for readability

It behaves almost the same for all OSS vendor based ROMs. I have tried on crDroid and Wave. It can open, but has very slow autofocus, and inability to switch to video (will lag then crash)
It works fine on miui vendor based ROMs though.
Pardon my English
Thanks for the Update.

I'm on Havoc OS ROM(not miui) and and camera is perfect. the camera works perfectly well all lenses work it's fast and video works too.
After installing Havoc ROM magisk and a custom kernel this is what I did.
Except I flashed both and straight through my recovery and not in magic.
1- Flash ANX 1.5 in Magisk.
2- Reboot and Allow all Permissions & launch the camera.
3- Now Flash ANX 2.0 in Magisk.
4- Reboot & Enjoy,Everything works Fine
It is necessary to follow the step! Otherwise there will be bugs.

Thanks for the update. Is anyone able to provide the 1.5 version ?
It is in their telegram channel. Too deep to dig up. Glad that it works at me after trial and error.
Try this one, working fine for me on OSS based ROMs. But this one was the last version, further ANX camera magisk module will be developed by konsumeri.
MOD EDIT: Attachement removed
okay seems that i got a problem. captured images wont save even that it is all granted. im using anx camera 190 installed in evolution os android 11. it worked on 1.5 then after installing 2.0 it doesnt work anymore

Hello, I installed anx camera and it works great. There is also a Magisk module with which I can delete the installed camera in aosp-Rom?
Hello, I installed ANXcamera 185R in crdroid7.6. Is there a way, to save the pictures to sd-card? I can tick "Save to sd" in camera settings, but ANXcamera saves to internal DCIM-Path. After restart ANXcamera Save to sd is unticked...
Thank you.
Are we able to install ANX cam here? If we can anyone who have a link where I can get it? Thanks!
Thank you for great help...
@iSean03 : search for MOD EDIT: Link removed due to income generation
Hi im on pixel experience a11 oss vendor which version of camera should i flash oli tried 195 but ended up stucked in boot screen a step by step instructions would be appreciated
When I try launching the stock camera app on my rooted Pixel 5, the launch-screen is shown briefly (black background with camera icon) before the app crashes. Same thing with the stock recorder, but here, not even the launcher screen appears, there's just nothing happening. No error messages are displayed whatsoever.
I rooted my phone by patching the boot.img using magisk, and when flashing the stock boot.img in fastboot, both apps are working just fine. It's not the camera itself that is causing the issue, every other app taking advantage of the camera apart from the stock camera app is working as usual, I can take photos in Snapchat without problems for example. Does anyone know a fix for this or is there anything I can do to debug the apps? My research on this issue didn't lead to any results.
I installed the latest firmware version for my model from the official google site yesterday (RQ3A.210705.001), but the issues were already present before (on version RQ1A.210105.003). I installed it using the
Bash:
install-all.sh
script, removing the
Bash:
-w
flag from the last command to keep all my data, in case this is relevant.
Thanks in advance.
Update July 13:
Uninstalling the EdXposed Magisk Module and Gravitybox solved the issue.
Update July 13 #2:
Turns out I'm a moron, just blacklisting the two apps in the EdXposed Manager would've been sufficient. Welp, next time I'll research a bit harder.

Yes I was and it was the problem's root, uninstalling Edxposed and Gravitybox solved the issue. Would've liked to keep Gravitybox but I'd rather have a working camera. I didn't have time to update my post yet. Thanks for your reply though!
