Archos VR glasses

Hi all.
What do you think about Archos VR glasses which are much, much cheaper than Gear?
They apparently work with our beloved Note 4 and have the same features.

Not remotely in the same league.'
Fov is much reduced and narrow...probably. 60 degrees, lenses are so so quality.
They are pretty comfortable but you won't get much immersion maybe with right software
Now for the right price they are ok but i am still waiting for Gear Vr to begin sales here
Fov is terrible it's just glorified Google card board. Totally different class to gear vr
Ok. Thx for the clarification chaps. I'll go for Gear VR.

That just an OEM product with branding of it. I have that and Gear VR. I Can say.. what cardboard offering is around 30% of experience what Gear VR can offer.

Samsung Gear without a Samsung Smartphone?

Hello everyone,
I would like to know, if it is possible to use the VR Gear with other Smartphones, not just Smartphones from Samsung.
And if not, is it possible to start the VR with Apps downloadet from the PlayStore?
if you can fit the smartphone into the VR anything is possible , the important thing is that the phone should not be larger than 5.7" (note 5 and edge +) and must not be smaller than 5.1" (s6 and s6 edge).
you can get all the VR app available in playstore to work with the Gear vr (without plugin the micro usb slot).
i already bought a Gear VR , it doesn't work with my S4 mini duos since the Pixel density is too low , so another thing is to get a phone with high PPI (450 or higher)

I don't think it's possible because the Gear VR (Oculus software) is directly tied to the Kernel. However you can try to fit another device and use it as a very expensive Cardboard viewer.

Yup I know, but I thought I'd mention that Oculus will not work on other phones but only as an expensive Cardboard device.

I have only tried Cardboard with an HTC M8 by holding it with my hand over the Gear VR lenses. It looked marginally ok. It's doable if you can come up with some sort of hardware hack to hold it in place. But I truly believe it's not worth it.
Gear VR is better as an Oculus platform.
Otherwise just get a cheap Cardboard or a Viewmaster VR.
Cheers ?

I'm sure you can sell it. Do some Google research to find the best Google Cardboard alternative for you.
Good luck

Gear vr vs cheap vr

someone who tried both ?
i am not referring to google cardboard, obviously the gear vr is a lot better

Hi there,
The main thing with Gear VR is that you have many features into the glasses.
You have buttons, a touch pad, volume control and many other things.
As for the "generic" ones you will need controller for the simplest things like to start a game.
Even though you can use apps from play store, the best thing is that there is a dedicated store for Gear VR users (Oculus)
If you got a compatible Samsung device, I would recommend, for sure, a Gear VR if you can get it.
You won't be disappointed.

VR headset

Hi,
does some use VR headset with elephone s8? Any recommendations?
me but im still figuring it out
I don't know if the google daydream or the samsung gear can be tricked into working with an elephone s8, but this seems like it ought to work all right. Anyway it's cheap ...

I'm using the "virtoba x6", which is essentially a "BOBOVR Z5".

Which VR?

Hi all,
Just got a Note 9 and was thinking about VR. Googling failed to reveal much about the current state of the market so I'm not sure which kit to buy. Seems like most of them have their own closed ecosystem? Anyone got a good link comparing the options? Thanks.
You would have to get the latest model SM-R324, which comes with the bundle Gear VR Controller. But you will have to contact Samsung for a special adapter in order to use your Note 9 in the Gear VR as the Note 9 is slightly thicker than the Note 8. Samsung will provide the adapter to you free of charge, once they have asked you a few questions.

It's an N960F, didn't come with a controller. I was wondering if the Gear VR would be the best option here since it's kind of pricey and requires an adapter and all. Anyway I'm giving the DESTEK V4 VR a try, it states compatibility with the Note9, comes with a Dream controller and I can just send it back to Amazon if it doesn't work well enough.

That will probably work with Google Cardboard apps. But if you want the full Samsung Oculus Gear VR experience, you will need to get the Gear VR. I got mine with my work bonus last year. I only use it for 360 videos. I find VR gaming to be quite nauseating. But it is gaming on the GearVR is pretty fun.
